Because of that experience, when I saw Jillene Amow, NP, for my own annual physical on April 30, 2026, I was specifically careful not to raise unrelated medical issues or seek treatment for a separate condition. Despite this, Ochsner billed both the preventive physical (CPT 99396) and a separate Level 4 problem-oriented visit (CPT 99214), resulting in a $25 copay. I disputed the charge, and Ochsner later acknowledged in writing that the Level 4 service was not supported. However, instead of removing the additional office visit, Ochsner changed it to CPT 99212, a Level 2 problem-oriented visit, and I was again billed the same $25. What apparently triggered the separate charge was that, while routine labs were being ordered, I asked to have my zinc level checked. I briefly explained that I had previously experienced neck itching and was taking over-the-counter zinc. I was not seeking evaluation or treatment for the itching. There was no new prescription, medication change, referral, or separate follow-up. The medical note itself says the condition was "well controlled with zinc" and that the zinc level was added "at Client request." What makes this particularly frustrating is that approximately one-third of my time with the NP was spent in a casual conversation about my skin-care products. She commented that my skin looked very good and asked what products I used because she was interested in trying similar products herself. That was certainly not a problem-focused medical evaluation. The issue for me is not the $25. It is the billing practice and lack of transparency. After my son's experience, I intentionally tried to keep my visit strictly preventive, yet I still ended up with an additional problem-oriented office-visit charge. I have formally requested a Coding Compliance review from Ochsner. I am sharing my experience because other patients should be aware of this possibility. If you go to Ochsner for an annual physical, carefully review your EOB afterward and check whether an additional office-visit code was billed alongside your preventive-care code. I believe patients deserve to know when something discussed during a preventive visit is going to be treated as a separately billable service, especially when it can result in an unexpected copay.

The team at Touro Birth Center is known for their expertise, compassion, and commitment to providing personalized care to each patient. I visited the birthing center early on in my pregnancy to ensure the facility met my needs of a having a calming birthing atmosphere. Touro offers just that, a comfortable and home-like environment. I couldn't have been happier with the care I received from midwives(Heather, Sarah, Tisha), nurses (Samantha,Erin) and OB Dr. Tara Morse. I couldn't have asked for a more skilled, compassionate, and supportive team to deliver my baby. The center is equipped with advanced technology and amenities/resources(spacious single rooms, birthing tubs, peanut/exercise balls, postpartum essentials, individual mom and baby nurses, doula support, lactation consultants). The Touro Birth Center also emphasizes family-centered care, encouraging the involvement of partners and loved ones in the birthing process which was comforting to me. I highly recommend Touro Birth Center for families seeking a positive and memorable birthing experience.

Trash on the floor, dirty bed…read morewith old bandages stuck to it and the wheels had all kinds of dirt stuck to all 4 wheels, there were stains on the bed sheets, the sink needed a good cleaning. I can't wait to get home to take a shower. I used several alcohol wipes to clean the chair I was sitting in and the table with wheels, which also had dirt and dust all over it. I am sure there were tons of germs in the room. I can't be the only one that noticed these things. People come to the emergency with all kinds of illnesses and diseases. I saw a woman with 3 kids in the waiting room with some kind of respiratory illness that seemed to be contagious as all of them were sick, I am glad we got a room before that family came in, otherwise my husband and myself might have caught what they have. they should have been taken to a room when they arrived so they could not spread what they had. This is the closest ER to our house. If there is a next time we will go the Ochsner.

When he moved to HCoL we followed (from Orthopedic Center for Sports Medicine). Dr Thomas Lyons is known for being one of the top sports orthopedic surgeon in New Orleans, and for good reason (his clientele list is impressive). His main focus is knees, elbows, shoulders and upper extremity). He is professional yet personable and extremely knowledgeable. So, if you need someone new or don't like the results you're getting. Please take the time, do yourself a favor, to go see him. He will help you. That said, you do not have to be involved in sports to go see this wonderful man. Dr. Lyons does not shame you about your weight. He doesn't embarrass you about your activity level. He wants you happy and he wants you healthy. His empathy for your pain / needs and his love of the human body and how it works is impressive. Of course, like all doctors they want to fit as well. However he will work with you at any level you are at. Dr. L is caring, thoughtful and he will listen to you. Be honest with him and you will satisfied with your results. He will give you clear concise information on how to go forward. Money is not his motivator. He is a man you can trust. More importantly, Dr T Lyons is a man I trust with my body / life, my husband and the health of my loved ones. Hand Center of Louisiana: Our experience in the last 2 years with this operation is top-notch too. The appointments run on time, They are a well-oiled machine. They process the paperwork like they're supposed to. Everything is good, safe , clean, friendly. I would say, your first time there, the "flow" is odd (because its new to you and the floor is split by elevator), so ASK the first person you see and they set you on the right course. I wouldn't expect Dr. L to be with some affiliated with a place that was not of his high standard. Which brings me to if you need surgery. TAKE the option go to the Omega Hospital (see my separate review). Even though it's probably out of network, they will work with you, and in some cases wipe your entire patient portion. It's a boutique, your partner has a quiet space to help you recover. It's small and the one on one from the RN and staff cannot be matched. They had me walking 30 minutes after surgery and I have not stopped since . (but YOU have to do the work too!) I promise to edit this review soon, but I've been wanting to write it for some time (over a year, wish I could blame covid, but just to busy 'cause my knee works!). Our personal situation: This review is long overdue! Dr L was delightful then and he is as he is today. To explain my situation with him . . . I first became aware of Dr Lyons and his fantastic bedside manner when a friend had a serious accident and needed surgery (1999?). He did an amazing job w/ ground meat and my friends is playing tennis, dancing etc today. In 2003-4 my husband (retired oilfield) was having neck shoulder issues, I told him there was only one guy I could recommend, Dr Thomas Lyons. Of course he did not disappoint. Since that time hubby has had shots and both knees cleaned out. Great experience all times. Since that time he has recommended Dr. L several times to co-workers, and he has yet to let them or us down! From 2008, I did knee (chicken shots), then "cleaned out", after years of bone on bone, and waiting until I moved back to Nola, Dr L performed my total knee replacement in 2020. It was perfectly done by Dr Lyons, and I haven't looked back since. Last week in Cancun I played volleyball all day, and danced all night. Giving Dr Lyons most of the credit. Husband went to see him for rotator cuff issues shoulder neck received a couple shots, after he met Dr Lyons working in the oilfield, he came a lot he highly recommended Dr Lyons to many people who ended up using him. All with very successful happy results. Through the years I've had friends tennis players, bike riders who need someone and I send them to Dr Lyons, I have referred him for decades. We have never heard, (I wouldn't even say a bad word) I haven't even heard less than stellar review of the man. You cannot go wrong with Dr Thomas Lyons.
