Let me start by saying that I have been a practicing dentist for a couple of decades in Sacramento area and I traveled to Reno for my bi-level cervical disk replacement surgery with Dr. Michael Song. I visited with multiple health care providers and surgeons for my much-needed surgery and overall care. From the very first moment that I met Dr. Song, I knew that he profoundly cares about his patients and his profession. He is passionate about what he does and he spends many hours in continuing education to make sure he is providing his patients with top-notch care. I immediately felt pretty confident that I wanted him to be the person to perform this very sensitive procedure on me. As you can imagine this surgery was very important to me since if the surgery did not go as planned, it could have ended my already limited practice due to all of my symptoms and the weakness I was experiencing in my dominant arm prior to surgery. He spent plenty of time explaining all the things I should be expecting before and after the surgery and his team was great at getting everything ready for the day of the surgery. My very complex surgery took only a bit over an hour and I almost immediately felt 100 times better. I spend a night at the hospital, followed up with 7 days of recovery, and taking my medications as recommended. On the 8thday I decided I was comfortable enough to just take the over-the-counter pain killers and saw Dr. Song for my post-op 15 days after my surgery. He too was very pleased with the outcome of the surgery and my recovery. Now, I have started my physical therapy and 4 weeks out, I feel great. I have already referred family and friends to Dr. Song and I will continue to do so. He is an amazing doctor and has a very pleasant bedside manner with the perfect amount of sense of humor. I look forward to full recovery and getting healthy again and I want to take this opportunity to publically thank Dr. Song and his team for an excellent job done. read more

I was in DC Dr Song for a severe pain that I was having in my left eye. He and his staff are amazing. His physicians assistant Alyssa has kept up with my case even though the office is shut down for the Covid 19 and she has texted with me even on weekends to adjust the medication. I haven't even had my surgery yet, but I have no doubt I am in the best hands I could be in. I had no trouble getting an appt. Dr Song was very up front and professional and I appreciate his direct manner and I can tell he is someone who truly cares and wants to cure people. He explained my condition to me better than anyone ever has. No one had ever even bothered to explain my MRI's before and I appreciate he took the time to do that and answer all my questions. Jolie is amazing and has stayed on top of everything with the insurance, pre-op appts and all other logistics, just like, a total pro. I m changing my review a little bit after speaking with Nancy who was very nice who listened and Cameron & Cheyenne they were all nice I also have to say what started this was the nurse who prepares your visit and Reno Diagnostics who failed to have my 2nd MRI ready which is the main reason I got upset and my left hip like the right that was replaced by R Mullins in which x-rays showed a perfectly good hip joint which was confirmed later by another orthopedic doctor Eric Boyden A++ Dr and later by 2 pain Drs after SI joint injections which is the only test that along with symptoms you can rely on so Dr song missing this is not unusual and is the most highly overlooked and misdiagnosed of anything in our spines Dr Song there's plenty of bad Drs quacks in Reno but I apologize you are not one of them just Denis G Patterson who caused permanent and irreversible nerve damage a year ago worst Dr in Reno botched N ablation and I mean botched bled all over the table after he hit a blood vessel add that to 3 failed back surgeries I do a lot of research and see more than one Dr and to the spinal cord stimulator after reading the original cons and especially the most recent I definitely won't be getting one of those and wouldn't recommend one to anyone so since Reno diagnostics failed to get MRI to your office like they said which your nurse who prepared my visit had plenty of time to get that MRI before my visit T 10:00 am but the kindness I've received from the office staff I'd like to give this another go after I get the pain pump there's just no way I can do anything with 8&9 pain levels everyday one of my biggest reasons for choosing Dr Song was my GP and he uses Medtronic's Raialto SI joint hardware out of the 26 available it's one if the least invasive screw type that I like I hope this review says it better I'm almost 70 have lived in constant pain for 17 years and every time I've had another spine surgery or procedure Drs have made it worse than before sad America is supposed to be #1 in the world but at the bottom of the list when it comes healthcare and education no matter how bad mostly democrats screw things up they're so proud of themselves when a large group of people with ZERO common sense get together you end up with a YUUGGEE group of politicians that are destroying our kids and G'Kids future Zero Common Sense ZERO's - - - - - ZERO's read more

Had a standing appointment with a P.A. who left the organization. Without being notified, my appointment was canceled. Now 2 1/2 months to get in. Am a post op patient and appointment was made 5 months ago. They don't care. My surgery was not successful. Definitely do not recommend. read more

Dr Song and his staff are very professional and caring. My husband had horrible sciatic nerve pain after years of abusing his body in football, rodeo and life. Dr Song took the time to explain all our options and helped us decide on the least invasive surgery possible. Dr. Song has a great reputation but this assumes you actually get to see him. Every attempt was made to get into him but he is like the cable company...about a 1-3 hour window. He is frequently running 2 or 3 hours late and the office never calls to let you know ahead of time. The waiting room looks like a cattle call. This is made worse by the pain and ailments his patients face. It is also rude and disrespectful. If you have time to kill he is probably great. I'll never know. read more

I meet this Dr. Michael Song for Independent Medical Examination purposes. Personally, very disappointing because after waiting for an hour during an scheduled appointment, he only entertained us for less than 15 minutes and twice it was disrupted as he signs document and answer a question from his staff. Sad to note that instead of conducting an examination, he just asked me to walk for 6 steps within the office and just based his findings on the report of the previous doctor. He even personally told us that it is only that time he is opening the folder of my case referral and have not even seen yet the complete MRI report. He browsed over my files hurriedly and did not conduct any further medical examination whatsoever. Really felt disappointed! This doctor need to go back to basics. read more

Great doctor, but the Carson City office NEEDS IMPROVEMENT ! While I'm impressed by Dr. Song, the office is very disorganized and you better be a good self advocate, or you will never get treatment. Good bye Dr Song. I can no longer deal with your front office staff. One would think being such a respected doctor that you would read the reviews from your actual patients and see how your front office treats your patients. Two surgeries this year with you and both times had issues with your front staff. Like the other negative reviews. I was repeatedly lied to and when you show them proof they turn around and blatantly call you rude today was the last straw. Went to the Carson City office to get long-term disability forms filled out I was told by the receptionist that they only do short term and FMLA I asked her who else I should go to since Dr. song was the one that did my last surgery and she said I don't know I explain to her that they were going to cut off my long-term disability if I didn't get it back to them and she asked me well who filled it out last time I asked her who said it was filled out before and she told me I was being rude told me she was going to document the conversation and shut the window between us like I said as good as doctor as Dr. song is no it's not worth it anymore dealing with these unprofessional people read more

Dr. Song is a very attentive, intelligent & compassionate doctor. His practice is very busy due to his high demands. The front office management could use more assistance during the busy business hours & the receptionist could be more versed in conducting her responsibilities, but overall I am satisfied with the service that he provides. read more

Very clean office from waiting area to exam rooms. The recipients and medical assistants were very knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Song was amazing already had my MRI reviewed. Very personable to both my husband and myself. Even though I'm the patient he asked my husband questions about my medical problem. It was the best visit I have had in my neurosurgey quest! Dr. Michael Song is a fabulous neurosurgeon because of his unbeatable skills and expertise. His methods were advanced yet conservative compared to other neurosurgeons in the area. My dad was having back pain at the age of 84 and we thought that due to his age surgery may not be an option. Dr. Song was willing to perform a specialized procedure we didn't hear about at any other offices we had previously gone to when exploring other surgical options. His procedures are minimally invasive and effective in eliminating pain. His post-operative pain control was stellar and my dad was walking and pain free almost immediately post-op.
