Dr Sasse may be a nice guy, but not very competent. His staff is overwhelmed and messes up insurance issues. Go ANYWHERE ELSE but here.

On my first appointment, they asked me if I smoked cigarettes. I said no. They put in my chart that I smoked, and billed my insurance for "tobacco cessation" even though I DON'T smoke cigarettes and there was ZERO "tobacco cessation" performed by them. There was also a giant nightmare between them and the pharmacy getting my medication. Normally a medical office does a prior auth and submit then submit the rx to the pharmacy - not this office. They send the rx, and then wait for the pharmacy to send them paperwork back, and THEN they do their prior auth. Even with my calling and telling them the pharmacy needs a prior auth wasn't sufficient for them - they literally called me back asking what the pharmacy needed and said the pharmacy needs to send information to them. Getting my RX required multiple phone calls to them and the pharmacy. It's cheaper and less stressful to just have your MD refer you to a nutritionist and join a gym than deal with this office, which I'll be doing now. read more

I'm writing this in hopes of saving someone's life. Please always get a second opinion. I thought being a "complication" was rare until I met with multiple doctors. When they heard my story, they all said the same thing: "don't go back to Dr. Sasse." (In fact, if they didn't know who my surgeon was, they would say "don't go to Dr. Sasse". Ironic, I know) The "care and compassion" you read about in these other reviews are cover ups for the lack of precision, countless mistakes, failure to own up to mistakes, and so many botched surgeries with "weird complications." I know I'm not the only one, and sadly I probably won't be the last. But when it comes to YOUR healthcare, always get a second opinion, ask your doctors and nurses what they think, and do your research. read more

Terrible customer service!!! Do not go here!! Dr. Sasse is amazing but the office staff and how it's ran it the absolute worst. Never have I ever been treated so badly and I'm always kind. They have a very bad attitude and can't do there job. Can't get a hold of anybody. I've been trying for weeks through emails and voicemails. I don't know why it's is so difficult for them to do their job. Other doctors offices hate dealing with them also. Don't give them any services it's not worth they way they make you feel. read more

How disappointing and frustrating today was. My fiance was scheduled for surgery this morning. We got to Renown at 5am tried to check in at admitting and we were told to hold. An hour later we find out that the insurance was pending for her bariatric sleeve but her hernia was approved. We were told to wait again because the office didn't open until 8am. After waiting another hour we were told they were checking on insurance. My fiance waited on hold for an hour with the insurance and were told that the 15 day approval period was Thursday.. and surgery is today Wednesday. But they would try and expedite it. We scheduled surgery on Sept 11th and today is the 25th. So someone dropped the ball or coded the surgeries wrong. At 12:30 we were sent home. Re scheduled for next Wednesday Oct 2nd. My fiance has already been only drinking protein shales for 10 days amd now has to go another week! At 1:30 pm when we are already at home guess what.. the surgery has been approved by the insurance but the dr has already left for the day. They can't do it any other day this week!! This is is not only disappointing and frustrating but very unprofessional. My wife is upset to the point she is in tears and now has to extend her LOA papers another week!! Such lack of communication and even confirmed surgery was good for this morning when they called use yesterday!! read more

Dr. Ayzengart did my surgery of a gastric sleeve. He did a good job, but the hospital, Renown, was as bad as ever.

This review is for the office staff. They are awful rude people. Doesn't matter if it's on the phone or in person. When being seen for follow up appointments they don't spend much time with you or explain much. One visit the person didn't even come in the room all the way. They just stood at the door and said everything looks good and that was it. On the other hand Dr. Ayzengart is a great doctor. He takes the time to listen and answer all questions. read more

I would say that my experience with Dr Sasse and his staff was good. No real issues. The one thing I would say is that anyone contemplating this procedure should have all of the information prior to the pre-OP meeting and the post-OP class. I don't feel that I did and I would up cancelling my procedure a few days after receiving the rest of the information and thinking about it over a weekend. Of course the program fees are non-refundable which are paid just prior to the pre-OP appt. This review is not to imply that Dr Sasse or his staff did anything wrong. Just make sure you have ALL of the information before you "go hard" and pay the program fees as well as the hospital fees. read more

I went in to get my gallbladder removed and as soon as I woke up from surgery I knew something wasn't right, I told the nurse and she just kept giving me pain medicine she wouldn't listen and then they moved me to another room so my husband could take me home.they told me I'd be able to move around and go to bathroom normally but I couldn't I could hardly walk up the stares to my apartment I was in so much pain. When anyone would try to talk to me I'd doze off mid sentence, I couldn't even hold my baby because holding him hurt so much. I felt very weak and was very pale. The next day I went to the ER and at first they thought it was pneumonia so they gave me blood thinners and did a CT scan and I was given oxygen because I couldn't breath and then they did an MRI and saw I was internally bleeding, Dr. Sasse had cut a vein in my liver and I was internally bleeding, he didn't even show up to the hospital it was an associate of his and he saved my life. He told me if I wouldn't have come in I wouldn't be here now read more

Office staff is horrible. I will admit I was going to be late, but only because on my referral paperwork from my doctor the address was wrong! So I called, and was told that she could move my appointment down a half hour. I was elated. So I drove across town again (had already driven to the opposite side of town 20 min out) where I was nastily greeted by the front desk. I explained that I talked with someone on the phone as she told me she rescheduled me for 11 instead of 10:30. The lady pretty much called me a liar and told me "they are double booked so no they didn't. You're a half hour late." And so I do admit I lost my cool (I'm pregnant and hormonal) and cursed. I told them it was bull and that I already drove across town for this and it's not my fault one of their "remote" office staff told me I was set! She then told me no one has said anything and that I'm out of luck. So I stormed off. read more

So far so good. I have only been seen once so far for my consult with Dr. Sasse and I have to admit that I was extremely nervous. I had so many questions and concerns and was worried that if I expressed all of these concerns and asked all these questions Dr. Sasse would become annoyed with me. Totally not the case. He was great at answering all of my questions and addressing all of my concerns (and trust me, there were many). Not only was he thorough and made sure I understood everything we discussed, he was also very patient with me and compassionate. I couldn't be happier and I'm so excited to get my sleeve and change my life. After my consult with Dr. Sasse, I met with Daizy to discuss insurance and the steps required to get my insurance to cover my surgery, as well as out of pocket cost. Usually this part makes me anxious because insurance companies can be so annoying to deal with. Daizy took the time to explain the 6 month approval process, as well as answer any questions. She also told me all about their office's requirements for surgery and scheduled all of my required evaluations right then and there. The front desk gal wasn't very friendly, but also not rude. I was seen once for a whole seven minutes by Dr. Sasse (he apologized and said he was running very late). After a quick chat with the good doctor, I was ushered into another office to go over insurance coverage and told they were going to contact my insurance company for a sleep study. The relatively rude lady did have a few answers to my questions, and said I would hear back from her in about a day. This part of the appointment took less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, three months and four calls later I still have no response, no schedule for the prerequisite testing, no information on proceeding. What I did get? A bill totaling $380.00! Nothing I experienced in their office that day was worth that price. read more

My wife has been dealing with "complications" from her first surgery in 2018. She had a complete bypass in April this year. Since then, she has had to have many "procedures" done, to correct an issue or "complications". The first one, she was hospitalized for 5 days. I went into the office, and tried to get answers as to what was going on. Finally on the 4th day, Sasse called me and told me they had to do another procedure due to more "complications". I told him that he shouldn't have waited 4 days to take her seriously and told me "I missed it. I didn't think it was a big deal really." Even though she was throwing up everything she was taking in, almost immediately. According to him, the scar tissue from the first procedure in 2018 caused a tear and a hernia and that's why she had to have the complete bypass. We also had to pay for both procedures even though this complication was done by his first initial procedure. But now, again, because of scar tissue, her esophagus is basically closed at the entrance of her stomach. So, each procedure she has had to go and have it stretched. Hence why she was throwing up. But this last procedure, the 5th one, he decided to put in a stint but did not explain to her that this was a hospital stay and would be painful and require a lot of air to be put in. This was planned last minute by him, and his staff. He will no longer call me, because he doesn't want to hear from me. I have so much to say to him, but when we call and ask to talk to him, he's unavailable or we leave messages, and he doesn't call back. I have even had nurses at both major hospitals tell me they barely even know him personally, but see alot of his patients come through with "complications". My wife and I went to other places to find this type of help, and get second opinions to be told they will not work on a patient that has had work done by Sasse. We are currently looking into malpractice cases, and will be working with a lawyer to see where we can take this. read more

After Several of week of waiting for my consultation I showed up for my appointment. After signing in and having a seat I was called up and told that they had canceled my appointment due to my insurance had been canceled 11/05 I assured the receptionist that there was an error and that my benefits were active. At that point they would not have anything to do with me or even offer to reschedule me. I was told I had to speak with Daizy E. McGaughey, (RMA Bariatric Patient Advocate) because she had canceled my appointment and per her notes she had called and emailed me. I told her that was impossible because I did not receive any messages. She then proceeded to tell me she was too busy to continue to help me. Daizy then calls back to the front to give me the same line and I asked her if we could call again and she refused she said the same thing she was too busy. The way I was treated at this office was so unprofessional they made me feel like a criminal and that I could not afford to stand in front of them. Never did they ask me if my insurance had changed or if I was willing to pay cash for my consultation they just canceled my appointment because they are too busy to deal with minor set backs like an error in benefits verification. I called my insurance after leaving this place and verified that my benefits were active and they offered to call Dr. Sasse's office to confirm. I then received an email from Daizy "Your insurance called and it looks like we were both right. Your insurance made a mistake in their system and it was showing you as termed when we called but their actual system has you as active. They gave me a different contact number for you but when I called they said that I had the wrong number. Today is a busy clinic day, and calling an insurance company when we are crunched for time is very difficult. We did try to get in contact with you to inform you of your insurance. If you would like to reschedule your appointment you can give me a call at 775-829-7999 x:110 and I can give you an appointment. Please be aware that I do not have anything available until mid-January." Never did she say I am sorry for your waste of time!!! If I had any doubts about going through this procedure this made it clear that I should not trust these SNOBS! Buyer Beware if you go see Dr. Sasse make sure you can pay or they will kick you out. I am sure Dr. Sasse does not know he has employees working for him that just caused him to loose a customer! Even after they were able to clarify the mix up I would never go back to this place after this horrible experience!!! read more
