I have suffered with acne for past 15 years! I have had several dermatologists, many who told me "its not that bad just put makeup over it." I finally gave up for many years. Decided to make an appointment with Dr Ishak at advanced skincare a couple months ago and SO GRATEFUL I DID! She actually listened to my history of struggling with acne and was willing to try accutane. She understands not all women want to "just put makeup on." My skin is looking better every day. I have never been happier. Cesar is awesome too! He always helps me sign in to the ipledge site when I am having issues. They also helped me work with my insurance to ensure it was covered. I have been coming here for several years now and have seen more than one Doctor or PA or Dr's Assistant to treat a variety of skin issues (eczema, skin tags, moles, etc.) and I have only had good experiences with everyone including the front desk and back office receptionists. This review is for the facility in Fullerton. This is the first time I ever look into getting cosmetic care. I called to set my appointment and the person on the phone said Dr. Amy Nguyen was the best Dr. to see for my needs, acne scars. After reading most of what we're 5 star reviews for Dr. Amy Nguyen, I have to say I was excited to see her on Monday to get the help that I need for my scars. I'm embarrassed of my acne scars but I read that she was compassionate and caring towards patients and I felt I was going to get the help I needed after putting it off for so long. The day of my appointment, check in was ok, but the back office assistant that walked me to the waiting room was cold towards me. She walked at least 15-20 ft ahead of me all the way to the waiting room and I caught her looking me up and down as I put my purse on the counter. Once Dr. Nguyen walked in the room and started talking about my visit she seemed annoyed. I did have a lot of questions and that might have bugged her but I thought these consultations were about asking questions and finding what options I have. Like I mentioned before, this was the 1st time I was seeking cosmetic care and didn't know what would work best for me. I asked her about different procedures but she would just say no that won't work because of your type of skin but she didn't care to help me find a solution for something that would work or give me her professional recommendation. I felt that I was looked down on and that I wasn't worth her time. She wanted to prescribe a couple of medications for my skin and I said ok. Once the appointment goes from a consultation visit to a medical visit (medication prescribed) the office will charge you $120 fee. As I sat there waiting for the prescription, I thought about the way I was treated and the service I received, I figured they weren't deserving of mine! I am highly disappointed with Dr. Amy Nguyen's cold bed side manner, her lack of care and compassion but above all her lack of professionalism! Checking out was ok and asked to speak to the office manager. She was in a meeting so we spoke the following day. I made a formal complaint to her and explained what had happened. I felt her apology was sincere. I hope my complaint doesn't fall on deaf ears and they are both talked to! read more

I think this place is great. The doctors and front office staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Only one issue, the nurses consistently come across as snotty. They don't seem to get that we are customers and always seem a little too eager to say 'No.' It seems they feel they are too important to be inconvienced with requests such as updating a chart or asking the doctor a question, if he is unavailable, at the time of a request. Other than this, the place is great and I'd recommend (and have) to anyone experiencing skin issues. read more

EW. This review is for the rude-ass receptionist. This place was listed under my PPO insurance policy. I asked her what dermatologist was available along w/her name so I could do my own research on the derm's expertise, customer review, and etc. as most (smart) patients do before booking an appt. She proceeded to ask me why I had wanted to do my own research as well as what site I would be looking on!!! Excuse me?! If I am PAYING to use your service with the ample amount of other derms out there to choose from, I can sure as hell do w/e research I want to. I was shocked! I told her this isn't an uncommon thing to do and I would just google the Dr.'s name. The way she spoke to me afterwards was down right RUDE/CRAZY and did not provide the best comfort as to me choosing this derm and more specifically this facility. If your Dr.'s are as great as you say they are, you should not be wary of the reviews out there. There are patient reviews on yelp and online for a reason. Needless to say, you lost a customer lady. Dermatologist Helia Eragi does not care about your health. She immediately prescribed me antibiotics for my acne. The antibiotics gave me yeast infections. Instead of trying only topical treatments, she insisted I stay on the antibiotics and prescribed me to take a yeast infection pill once a week while on the medication. She also said that I was not supposed to be on the antibiotics for more than three months. I was on the yeast infection pills and antibiotics for 5 months. I should not have been taking either that long. The yeast infection pills can do serious damage to the liver. I decided this was not good for my health despite what she said. I eventually stopped going and went to Dr. Baugh across the parking lot. He never prescribed me any medication and my face cleared within 2 months. Dr. Eragi is condescending, fake, and clearly only cares about her pay check at the end of the day. If you're having acne/skin issues, go see Dr. Baugh. read more

Awful experience with my doctor quitting or being fired without any explanation in the midst of treatments . Very unprofessional. Never let me know she was no longer there. Everyone here is super helpful and sweet. I found this place through my insurance and have loved it ever since. I go to Dr. Amy Nguyen for acne and she's so understanding and actually cares. I previously had gone to another dermatologist in Newport, but the oral prescriptions and topicals he recommended never worked and then he wanted me to do lasers which were expensive and something I wasn't interested in. Dr. Nguyen took all of this into consideration and we went a different route and now I'm acne free and get compliments on my skin all the time! I highly recommend this place. read more

Had a Mohs procedure there a few years ago. Just found out they missed it and had to have the MOHs procedure redone with a much larger incision now skin graft. The Mohs itself was a catastrophe now to have it done again? Get a second opinion better yet go elsewhere read more

Let me be clear that I am not reviewing the P.A. that performed my laser treatments. I am reviewing the extremely unethical business practices of this facility, which to me is something to be considered when deciding on a medical/cosmetic provider. I was getting laser treatment at the Brentwood office to lighten my tattoo. I prepaid for 3 treatments and only received 1 treatment. I went for the 2nd of the 3 treatments and was told by the P.A. that I wasn't making any more progress with their current laser (I had already had 6 previous treatments with them). She said they were getting a better laser within a week and I should wait to get my other 2 treatments. I was fine with that and appreciated her telling me. At least she was honest with me, but that's where the honesty ended. I called almost every week for 2 months and they just kept telling me it should be there any day. The new laser never arrived. I'm sure at some point they knew they were no longer getting it but kept lying to me. I asked if I could be refunded for the 2 treatments not received since I'm moving out of CA soon, and was told sure, no problem. That was in Feb. I called from Feb through May and spoke to almost all the office staff at the Brentwood and Fullerton locations about my check. Unfortunately for me, I paid cash so couldn't dispute with my credit card company. Lesson learned - never pay cash. Every time I spoke to someone they said oh yes I see we owe you a refund. No one would ever tell me why they wouldn't send my check. They never returned my calls (so unprofessional!), except finally the Billing Manager left me a voicemail after 3 months and said it was resolved and my check would be mailed out that week. Still no check. I called her and she said she didn't remember saying that. I gave them every opportunity to do the right thing. I think waiting 4 months is beyond patient. I am certain they thought they could wear me down eventually and I would just go away. They owed me $595, which is absolutely nothing to them, but is a whole lot of money to me. I finally called to request all my treatment and billing records, including charges and payments applied. Magically a check appeared in my mailbox 3 days later. When I requested my billing records they finally realized I was likely getting ready for legal action, so they were forced to send me my money. I had already sent a demand letter to the CEO threatening to report them to the CA Medical Board and take them to small claims court, which I definitely would have done. Even though they mailed my check right before they received my demand letter, I'm still very glad I sent it. Hopefully it will bring about some much needed changes in their policy. I just never imagined having to do that with a facility that appears to be so reputable. I definitely don't think the Medical Board would look favorably on a facility keeping payment for services never rendered. I received zero apology or explanation for what I had to go through just to get MY money. That's the main reason they are receiving this well-deserved review. I think people should know about their business practices. Personally I never would have gone there if I had known this is how they operate. There are far too many other options out there. read more

I have been coming to Advanced Skincare MedCenter for 10 years and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the team here. I have had laser treatments, peels, etc done here and the results have all been great. Most recently I have seen Yvette for peels (gotta love the promotional months where you receive 20% off!) and she really works with you to find the best peel for your needs. So far each peel I have done have given me wonderful results (Vi and Spot Peels). I also see Dr. Nguyen when I have a crazy breakout and she is very patient, kind and understanding. I truly feel like she cares about her patients and their concerns. I have recommended this place to numerous friends and family who are also happy with them as well. The Fullerton Facility is big, clean and welcoming. Every employee I have ever dealt with here is extremely kind and attentive. Amazing customer service as well. I went to yvette to have a vi peel done. She completely transformed my skin. I had acne and a lot of pigmentation and after her peel my skin looks flawless. Even my large pores have shrunk down. I am so excited. I don't even have to wear makeup. I used to hate my skin and now I love it!! Everyone has noticed and asks what I did. I tell them to go to yvette and be transformed. My favorite dr ishak is gone I would always come in here for acne problems and on occasion cortisone shots let me tell you if you have a painful big bump or zit that will not go away getting a cortisone shot is the best thing ever I havnt done that in awhile but I've had hydro dermabrasion done here and I loved the results iam a cash patient and I loved seeing dr ishak because if I came in for a cortisone shot and or extractions she would always give me discounts because I was a cash patient she was really sweet and the only doctor who made me feel comfortable. Anyway I heard they have 99$ dermabrasions in November so I'll probably visit again soon also if you have acne don't stress to much because when I first visited this office it took about 5+ medications and topical creams to finally find something that worked for me I still have acne but I did accutane about 3 years ago when I was done with treatment my face looked amazing now I still get acne sometimes really bad but it'll heal faster iam now using acanya and I've gotten many refills because it's the only topical cream that works for me read more

I used a Groupon special for a Photofacial (IPL) treatment and am truly amazed with the results. I'm a jaded Los Angelean who drove one hour, not expecting much, but thought it was worth a try since my friends rave about IPL's. Lovely Jennifer (who is a walking advertisement for dermatological procedures done the RIGHT way) is informative, caring and professional. Even though I drove an hour to get there, she strongly recommended that we do a test area first and that I should schedule the treatment two weeks later and I'm glad she was so cautious. The results of my actual treatment are amazing. I'm not sure when/if the little brown spots reappear (hopefully never), but I can't believe how precisely the equipment works. My little brown spots fell off in 7 days, not the 3-4 that I was told, which is fine. I think it took a little longer because I'm 46 and have been in the sun without protection since I was 5. I won't go without sunscreen anymore! I love this place. Everyone was very friendly and professional. I had a great experience here and will consult with them on future procedures.
