The girls who played Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter had amazing vocals. All the kids in the show were amazing with their acting, singing and dancing. The orchestra, WOW is all I can say about them. They were fantastic from start to finish. They all did such an amazing and professional job with the entire show, the stage hands, the lighting and sound, it was all like a professional show. High praise for the kids. The staff??? In the lobby, there was this one staff member, strong accent and very long fake lashes who makes one concerned about our future generation. On the table there was a sign that clearly said "SOLD OUT". We got our tickets on House Seats, obviously I had tickets otherwise I would not have been there, I had already talked to this lady once asking where the restroom was when I first arrived. So unless they just let anyone wander in off the streets to use the restroom on a show night??? As I said, we got our tickets on House Seats which means they were free. I wanted to support the kids, the theater program and the school, so I went up to the table and I said; "IF, I were to purchase tickets, how much would they have cost?" This young brilliant adult mind, looks at me, points to the sign, and says, "We are sold out". I'm retired military, I have a business degree, my generation learned how to read and like I said, I didn't just wander in off the streets just because.... I responded with, "I have tickets, which I displayed in case she was confused, I said I know it's sold out, I'm asking what the prices of the tickets would be if I were to buy them? The gentleman next to her quoted a range of price which prompted a short discussion between the two. OMG, I'm afraid for our future generation of kids. I handed the guy $40 to which he asked what it was for? I said a donation for the kids, the program and the school. I guess a lot of people don't think to donate if they got tickets for free which is sad. Programs in schools need our support and if you could have seen the production, it was amazing. Sadly it's becoming less in Public Schools. Their sound/lighting control area was better than some shows I've seen around town. The stage was massive, the props were professionally designed, the kids, from the Technical Director, down to the stage hands and every position in between, this could have easily been a production on the strip, that's how good it was and how amazing of a job the kids did. I will gladly go see a show here anytime and will gladly pay whatever the price is for a ticket and then some, to support such an amazing theater program. And again, the orchestra, one of the best from start to finish.

I am currently in 7th grade. 6th grade: Pretty fun and cool, I was in the bowling and theater club. Almost all of my teachers were very nice to me, but my math teacher at that time made me feel dumb. I won't be able to say the name for certain reasons, but this teacher would sort-of embarass me in front of everyone in the class and would make rude comments about me. There was this one time where I was trying to retake a math test. But as I was working, this teacher said " Hurry up, Charlie. I want to go home." Their tone in the comment made me feel stupid, rushed, and stressed out. 7th grade: Horrible in most ways. I was in the bowling club, and the teachers I had were still nice. But most of the kids there were very annoying, troublemaking, and loud. The overwhelming crowds and bad influences from most of the students made me feel very uncomfortable to the point where I had to get homeschooled after spring break. To any student who is wondering where I am, I'm homeschooled at home and can still come to after school programs/events. However, the principal, staff, and most of my teachers were very kind to me. The electives I had in 7th grade, which was beginning orchestra and student aids, were the best electives ever in my opinion. If you are about to be a 7th or 8th grader, I recommend you choose student aids because you can help a teacher of your choice and have lots of fun and free time to work on unfinished assignments. If so, you should definitely consider West Career & Technical Academy, a.k.a., West Tech or WCTA. The newest tech academy in Clark County, WCTA opened in 2010 to much fanfare: It's got four greenhouses! It's partially powered by solar energy! There are Apple computers everywhere on campus for the students to use, even the cafeteria! Like other magnet high schools in the valley, students must apply and then go through a lottery to gain acceptance. WCTA is geared towards college prep with nine programs: Veterinary and Medical Sciences, Biotechnology, Nursing, Sports Medicine, Environmental Science & Natural Resources, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Business Management, Digital Media, and Information Technology. The emphasis here is definitely on learning and it helps if your son or daughter already has an idea of what they want to major in when they get to college, as you can tell from the programs offered. This is not like the traditional high schools around, so don't expect there to be NIAA sports teams or cheerleading because there are none. If a student here wants to play basketball, baseball, run track, etc., he/she must go the to high school they're zoned for and play for that school's team (if they make it through try-outs like everyone else). There are numerous clubs to join, though, as well as dances, yearbook, etc. West Tech is like a junior college for high school students. There is a lot of homework and there are students who transfer out because they can't handle the rigorous workload. However, if you want to see your tax dollars being put to good use, it's definitely happening here. West Tech students are basically getting a private education for free and I have no doubt that when my son enters college, he'll be more prepared because of his time here. There are open houses every year so you can tour the high tech campus for yourself. The counselor doesn't even care, my 8th grade brother got 3 detentions for 3 days straight just for being tardy to class 5 times, and my mother told the vice principal that he shouldn't even have those. he doesn't do drugs nor vaping, my mom kept straightening him up and as she walked out he said "Just an FYI we control the street lights, so the children could be late, in the morning". My mother told counselor but all she said was "That's just the rules, I'm sorry sweetheart" like they were playing dirty (which they were). After all that they changed his 3 detentions to 2 detentions. And on top of that the teachers practically, only support the "pretty" girls or the "pick me" girls. And most of the teachers support either white kids or Hispanic kids. And this has right in front of my own eyes. The art teacher smelt something funny, and started coughing. While my black friend was just laughing with her other friend, she doesn't vape nor do drugs. The art teacher gave her the dirty look and called over assistance for a staff member to drop off my friend to the principal's office. The art teacher KNOWS that my friend doesn't vape, she pays attention in class (or else why is she so GOOD at art?) so instead of finding out who it is, she chooses my friend, who is black. And if the skinny girls wear booty shorts or a top that is the size of a bra, they don't get dress coded however if a girl with larger thighs wears perfectly fine shorts: detention! And the really disgusting thing that bugs me is the predo staff supports or gives high fives to the Latin/Spanish/Mexican girls and one time I was wearing shorts the teacher's assistant standed right there behind me the whole class period (1 hour) and he kept hyping me up, saying things like "You got this!" or "Good job!". Please do NOT let your child come to this school, and with all that the school juices kids for money: yearbooks are $50-$60, a super small bag of chips $2, etc. And they also violate the CCSD rules. On their afternoon videos it says "if you buy our $20 beanie, you get it inside!" which is crazy. And to pay to see your child preform on the stage (for the Shrek play) you have to pay money?! Also, the school is not great with bullying, water (the water comes out with dirt), the rooms are going mold (the art teacher got sick, from the mold), the bathrooms are not in good condition, and the A/C doesn't work.*In gym, if you look up there is TONS of visible black mold.(Also if you want to join the cheer team you have to pay a fine for $500, art $25, choir $10-$15.) DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE PLEASE AND THANKS! #My brother got milk that was like cottage cheese.

Overall, I came here for my daughter's Volleyball game and it is a beautiful school with a small gym but very clean. I like how there was also a food truck there as well. The only reason why I did not give it a 5 star is because the parking stalls are a bit compact (and being that I am originally from Hawaii, we have compact stalls there) and someone scratched my car when they opened their door.

Don't even get me started on the pickup line. It's pure chaos. Traffic spills into the streets, everyone's blocking everyone else, and there's no system in place to fix it. You'll spend 30+ minutes in your car daily, just hoping no one gets into an accident. As for academics, it's hit or miss. In some cases, the material seems to come straight from pre-made internet templates--no adaptation, no passion, and sometimes, no clear understanding of the topic from the person teaching it. Honestly, I've found better explanations on YouTube. Other things worth noting: There have been situations involving extremely unprofessional conduct between staff members--yes, during the school day. I've also seen confidential student information passed around carelessly, which is incredibly upsetting for any parent. And the school's reaction to these concerns? Defensive. Instead of addressing the issue, they turned their attention to the parent who spoke up, even threatening to revoke their campus access. That says a lot about their priorities. Bottom line: There are bright spots here, but they're clouded by serious problems in leadership, culture, and accountability. If you're considering this school, go in with your eyes wide open. It might look good on paper, but reality paints a more complicated picture.
