I had previously had my car at another mechanic, the car was running with needing carb work. the shop stated i should get a the other mechanic that knows carbs better possible Dyno tuned. it is from a mechanic i have know for years now. I needed carb work done and looked up yelp. i found Mike and called him, he stated he could tune it up no problem. I took it in, Mike stated he would work on it. Mike called me and stated the engine was bad and i should get a new crate engine. He stated that there was no compression. I was shocked due to the car was running and needed to be turned up with fixing the carb. so I told mike i was going to pick up the car and not repair it yet. He had the hood off, I asked why he took off the hood, Mike stated he had to take off the hood to get the valve covers off. This was a false statement, I have had the valve covers off with no problem with the hood on. Mike's statement did not make since. I politely asked him to put it back together. He didn't have time that day so i picked it up the next day. I drove it directly to another Mechanic when i went to open the door it would not open. the new mechanic asked why they took apart the drivers door panel after he noticed parts on the floor grouped together. Totally unprofessional mechanic. First takes my car to drive test it (20 min) without asking me. Second- you get paid to do your job as a mechanic, not to share us your personal feelings. I'd take my car anywhere else if I'd known. 1- It's a 2014 Volkswagen Passat wolfsburg edition. You don't even know what you were checking. 2- You expressed yourself in front of a potential buyer that you're not a big fan of VW, you don't like them. Very unprofessional. That is your opinion. You're not the buyer, who gives a crap what you like or not. You're there to check the car as a mechanic not as a car enthusiast. 3- A used car will show wear and tear. Those tires don't even have 20k miles on them. After having some issues with my car idling low, I ended up taking it to a transmission shop to get it further diagnosed. My car was inspected by Mike and he was honest and fair. He let me know that he would take a look at it, let me know what he could do, and price me after. The source of the issue looked like more of an electrical problem than a transmission problem and he called up my local Nissan dealer to explain what was going on and then referred me over. This is the best mechanics shop in the area...period. They do great work, way reasonable price and they won't rip your head off. One time Mike even told me I should try to get my brakes fixed under the warranty before going ahead with a $400 job which I was fully prepared to do. We have four cars with two of them being classics, a Studebaker and a Buick Electra 225 plus a Chevy Silverado and a Dodge Dakota and they all go to Advantage Auto Care! Quick work too! Had an issue with my secondary air pump in my 2001 BMW 330CI. Called and explained my issue. Technician gave me his opinion based on his experience with the same issue with other cars. Didn't try and sell me on coming in to scan the car and answered my questions honestly. His advice helped me fix the issue with my car on my own. Saving me the time and money. Unlike another shop swore that the O2 sensors were not my issue and tried to get me to believe my only solution was to come in and pay to have my car scanned. Which would have cost me at least 125 more than I needed to fix my car. It's getting harder to find the honest and caring people that just want to help people out these days. The name of the owner is Micheal. I know him for a year or so. He was my mechanic. I trusted him. When I had an issue on my car, he said its no more good and would be costly to fix it! he lead me to left my car and let him sell the car for me. I left My pink on the dashboard and leased a car. later for some reason I had to leave Temecula and move out. i haven't heard from him for a while then I called him up. He said he cannot sell the car, it doesn't worth, so that I can come down and get my car. I drove to his shop and he said that just wait here until I close my shop and we go together to parking lot after 7:00 pm. I waited and then he said that I go pick up my daughter from school and come back. He left and never answered my phone call and no news from him that day either!! I called a police and I text him and I said that I called a police and he said that he doesn't care and I signed a pink slip and I sold a car to him. I figured that out that he cheated and signed my name and sold my car!! I opened case against him but for some reason i was not able to show up in court, i was out of state! Extremely unprofessional. From Mike the manager to the entire staff. First of all he told us to bring my car by for an inspection the first day and so we did and when we got there he sent us away and told us to come back another day, that they were too busy VERY rudely (mind you, we had an appointment). So we made an appointment for another day at 10AM. We walk in that day and waited about 30-45 minutes to be seen. Finally he took my car back to do an inspection & while we were waiting, we look into the car bay and see some staff members smoking cigarettes inside and outside the cars they were working on.. made me very uncomfortable. Anyways.. we came for an inspection to get the green light to sell the car which I had previously taken to Pep Boys to get it all checked out and everything was perfect they gave me a green light.. I totally understand the buyer interested wanted to get the car checked out again together, so then we did & I really wish we didn't go to this place.. then come to find out he drove my car off the lot to some car wash, sprayed it down with water he said he did this so he can find scratches and dents (which there were none) now with my car covered in water spots he proceeds to take the women, who is interested in buying the car, outside and speaks to her without my knowledge and before he spoke to me. It is completely fine to talk to a customer but during a business transaction you'd expect the buyer, seller & mechanic to be in the conversation during the business talk. Who knows what he told her. Then he quoted me $1500 to fix an information display in my car and says in front of the buyer interested, "I wouldn't buy a car you can't see the mileage on". Mind you the buyer previously had said she was perfectly ok with everything and that she is very interested, even left me a deposit. I informed her I would take it in get everything checked out and pay to get it fixed also pay for an oil change before I handed it over to her. I then called Honda dealership and they helped me through the process of fixing the screen and steering wheel. The Honda service department told me this .. "When the battery died the information system defaulted to off mode" to turn it back on they had me factor reset the entire instrument cluster (holding a button on the dash for 10 seconds) everything works 100% now. They were even confused why the Mike the mechanic guy couldn't figure that out for himself.. they were so kind to tell me if I sell it and anything goes wrong to have the buyer bring it in and they'll check it out. After all that, I took it to two different places to have it double..triple.. checked and everyone gave me a thumbs up and gave an A+ on everything. I proceed to update the buyer and tell her if she would like to take it to another mechanic together and get it checked out again that is totally fine. She told me she then wasn't interested in the car and she will have to pass (due to what Mike the mechanic told her). I am extremely disappointed at this point because this car is a really great car and has never had any problems with me or the previous owners before me. This man obviously doesn't know anything about cars and couldn't diagnose a problem on a Honda, really? I will never recommend this place to anyone and will NEVER return!! read more

i had travelled to Temecula CA for a family reunion when I had car problems. had my car towed to Advantage Automotive around 6pm on Friday(3/13/2015) because it would not start. I was expecting it to be a starter, alternator, engine problem. The guys looked at my car and called me around 7pm that evening and asked if I had my spare key. Apparently, it was a sensor problem. Took my key to them(730pm)and it started right away!!! I have to say that this was the BEST customer service I had received in a long time. They could have held off even looking at it till Monday, since they were closed on the weekend, which is what the Jeep dealership told me when I called them the same day at 4pm. The best part of the whole situation was that when I asked the gentlemen :How much I owed him" he said "No Charge." To the gentlemen that were working that evening "THANK YOU" you made my weekend. I have been taking my vehicles to Advantage from the beginning. This involves at least five vehicles and three drivers, as well as numerous referrals for friends and co-workers. I have found Josh and his staff to be friendly and courteous, always having a few minutes to speak with customers rather than treating them as an inconvenience. Since it is somtimes necessary for me to remain for periods of time because my rides are chronically late, I have been able to observe direct interaction with customers and occasional telephone inquiries. The same excellent treatment I receive as a long-standing customer occurs with everyone that comes into contact with Josh and his staff. Shortly after Josh purchased the business (I had been a customer of the previous owners as well), I experienced a problem with an expensive part that failed much too early. Although he was not part of the business when the repair was completed and could not find the receipt in the records that were left, Josh was more than willing to replace the item at his expense. I considered this to be quite an offer from a new businessman. This level of integrity and commitment to customer service and quality business practices has continued and remains a hallmark of the service and commitment to customers that characterizes this business. As far as automotive service, I have never had a complaint regarding repairs or service. While I'm not a mechanic, I believe I have some knoweldge and understaning of automotive repair. I have never found reason to question the diagnostics or repairs as it has related to my vehicles. Nothing has been suggested that wasn't necessary and there is understandable clear discussion about repairs that are necessary or that can be deferred. On more than one occasion, Josh and his staff have identified pending problems that could have been much more problematic if left unattended. Most recently, he noticed tire issues and advised me to replace the tires before I embarked on a lengthy trip. I'm in the military and was home for one weekend. My car broke down on the side of the freeway around 5 pm. These guys stayed open late just for me so I could get my car to them. I was expecting just to drop off my car and get it worked on the next day but the mechanic did the repair right there in the parking lot. He stayed close to 2 hours past closing and only charged me for the part. This shop saved my family and myself a ton of trouble and money.
