I had to have my truck towed in after breaking down on the freeway. The rear differential was completely shot. Definitely not a good day, but aside from the car problems, I had a very good experience with this auto repair business. I understand that it's a complex repair. They got my vehicle on a Friday and initially said it would take a week, but I got it back the following Tuesday. This could have been quite expensive, but the cost was very reasonable. I was treated well and the mechanic, Chris, clearly explained the problem and the fix so that I understood everything. Car problems are bad enough, so don't compound it with stressing over finding a trustworthy mechanic too. Whether you need routine service, or if you experience a breakdown, I strongly recommend that you go to Affordable Auto Repair. I definitely will be bringing all of my vehicles here. read more

Service was great! I felt they were very honest, not pushy, and very fair pricing. Brought my car in for a/c work thinking the compressor would need to be replaced and after they inspected it, said the compressor is actually fine, the system just needed to be emptied of old Freon, vacuum tested, and refilled. I needed to get new plates for my car and the DMV required me to smog the car. When it failed and l came to Yelp looking for the dealership, l saw the abysmal ratings for Honda of Temecula and said ehhh l think not. So l turned to Yelp and found Affordable Auto Repair. Jerry is who helped me. I called and he told me to bring in the car and he would take a look. Right after opening the hood there was a rat's nest. Not a good sign. He ran the diagnostic on it to see why the smog failed. He also said l went to a reputable smog business (thanks again, Yelpers!) so he asked to see the paperwork to narrow down the issue. It ended up taking more time but Jerry didn't give up. Nor did he charge me for anything. He was honest, reliable, and even lost money by having me eventually going to the dealership (though Lake Elsinore Honda) because my issue was covered under the warranty. All in all, the decorum, honesty and genuinely stellar business practices l experienced here will have me coming for all my future maintenance. In fact, I have an appointment for an oil change and a tire rotation scheduled for next week. Thank you Jerry for the exemplary service you gave to my car and the honest care of my welfare. These guys are absolutely incredible. Short version: I came in after making an appointment at another shop, and being told their only mechanic called out, and I was SOL. But they recommended affordable auto repair. I walked in, and they were slammed. I mean 20 sets of keys on the table, phone blowing up, SLAMMED. But Jerry, the manager I think, he saw me standing there, and in spite of being underwater, he heard what I needed, and recognized it was a relatively quick fix. Called his guy Tristan over, and said something to the effect of "this guy is one of my best, and can knock this out for you". Tristan didn't disappoint. He grabbed the keys, and in spite of it being a small job, with some very pain in the ass curve balls involved, came back an hour later with the keys. And they charged me like a THIRD of what the other place was going to charge me. Wouldn't even let me tip them when I tried. These guys are top boys. I've had several cars worked on here. Always had a good experience. This morning however things changed. I discovered this shop no longer works on car or trucks later than 1996 by Sean. Please note this shop has replaced my engine once and other work on my 1995 nissan truck in the past. I'm extremely disappointed in finding that out. I will not talk bad about this shop. This new change is pretty sad.. Come on Doug. I receive emails all the time from you guys asking to do maintenance on my 1995 nissan, like it's time to change your belts. 9/8/2025. I visited Affordable Auto to have an issue with my Infiniti resolved. I normally use another local auto repair shop but i wanted to get a second opinion on the service. I was so pleased with this shop as they saved me 200.00 and were finished with the car the same day. The location is clean, the staff is very friendly and the car rides like new. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this shop was beyond unacceptable and needs to be shared. I brought my car in on a Monday to have some diagnostic work done. I was told someone would take a look at it shortly. Three days passed, and nothing was done. Only after I followed up was I told that their diagnostic technician was out with COVID. That's something they could've easily mentioned up front--had I known, I would have gone elsewhere or rescheduled. But the most serious issue: the shop gave a complete stranger to them access to my vehicle--someone I specifically have a restraining order against. This person was allowed to take items out of my car (a stroller, among other things) without my knowledge or consent. They didn't call me, didn't get permission, and just handed over my car keys to someone they didn't know. Worse, my car wasn't even on their lot--it was parked unsecured in a separate lot down the street. This was a complete breach of trust and responsibility. My car could've easily been stolen. When I confronted them about it, the manager, Alex, was dismissive, even smiling and laughing while I was visibly upset. There was zero accountability. An older gentleman at the shop sarcastically told me to "bring a receipt for the stroller and I'll buy you a new one." Not a single person offered a real apology. To make matters worse, when I expressed my concerns, they immediately got defensive and talked about calling the police on me. After reading other reviews, I've learned they do maintenance on local police vehicles. It now makes sense why they act with zero accountability--they clearly think they're untouchable. This place has shifted to prioritizing fast, high-paying jobs and treating others like an inconvenience. Between the lack of communication, unsafe practices, and blatant disrespect, I cannot recommend this shop to anyone. Do yourself a favor and take your vehicle somewhere else--somewhere with ethics, professionalism, and basic decency. read more

Completely Unacceptable Lack of Service, Communication, and Customer Safety I dropped my car off at this shop at 8am on a Monday for a diagnostic on an urgent issue, as well as to receive estimates on a list of additional needed repairs. I was told we'd receive updates -- but no one contacted us that day or the next. After calling them at 2pm on Tuesday for a status update, we were informed (for the first time) that the diagnostic technician was out sick and that absolutely nothing had been done on our vehicle. By Wednesday morning, still no communication. We called again, only to be told the technician was still out. At that point, with no timeline and no action taken, we decided to pick up the car and take it elsewhere. That's when things went from bad to truly alarming. We learned that while the car was in their possession, someone completely unknown to the shop -- not listed on our account or the vehicle registration -- was allowed access to our vehicle, was handed the keys, and removed personal property from inside. This individual has a restraining order in place to stay away from us. Not only did the shop grant them access without any form of verification or contacting us -- they also never informed us this occurred. Upon arriving to retrieve the vehicle, we were first given the wrong set of keys. Then they couldn't locate the right ones. Eventually, after two staff members looked around, they found them. When we asked where the car was parked, we were told vaguely it was "down the street." No signage, no security, no communication. We found our car unlocked in an unsecured, unmonitored parking lot a block away. When we asked to speak about the total breakdown in safety, liability, and protocol, we were laughed at. Our concerns were dismissed, belittled, and we were told "we're a mom & pop -- we have no protocols." When we brought up the emotional toll of this violation, we were told to "calm down" and threatened with police involvement -- as if we had done something wrong. We later called to speak with the person we originally dropped the car off with. When asked why someone would grant access to a stranger and allow our property to be removed, we were told that we were asked to leave earlier because they didn't want other customers to hear the emotional distress we were in. This business held my car for 3 days, did no work, never communicated, left it unsecured, and facilitated a blatant breach of privacy and safety. Their behavior was negligent at best, and deeply unprofessional and unsafe at worst. Do not trust this shop with your vehicle, your property, or your personal safety. read more

We have been going to affordable automotive for several years now, but today they exceeded our expectations. Again. I took one of our cars there several years ago because it was making a funny noise. They had a hard time reproducing it and said they literally had to drive around with one guy listening to it while the other was driving to figure out the problem. The solution was a very inexpensive repair to an engine mount. We have been taking all of our cars there ever since. Earlier this week we took my wife's Tahoe in for some AC service. We drove it to the mall and back with no problems but today she broke down while I was out of town and had to get it towed. The transmission was acting up. We thought for sure we needed a new transmission. When Doug's crew looked at it they said there was something wrong from the service they recently did and accepted full responsibility for it and even offered to pay for any out-of-pocket expenses we incurred to get it back to them. Everybody makes mistakes but not everybody owns up to them. They could have easily told us we need a new transmission. Especially with my wife handling things while I am out of town. Took my moms jaguar in for an oil change, which is a nuisance in itself because not a lot of places will do oil changes on a foreign car. Affordable auto repair got us in the same day and were so kind about it! Sean helped me out today, and not only was helpful but was also very personable and didn't just look at me as a customer or a transaction but spoke to me like a friend. This is something I look for in a business that cares about their clients and wants to take care of them. I took my car in and they were on it. They even paid for an Uber to drive me home! Within an hour Martin called and luckily it was an easy fix! The last place I got my oil changed didn't put the filter on correctly causing the oil to leak everywhere! Had an emergency situation with my gas door not opening while at the gas station. After being unsuccessful at manually opening the tank , I knew I needed a mechanic to help with issues. I did a search for a local mechanic to me and after reading their reviews call in my problem. Since it was an emergency I needed this issue resolved ASAP as I was low on gas and needed my car to transport my kids to there medical appointments. Once I shared my dilemma with service representative he told me to bring it in and they would help me. To my surprise they did indeed temporarily address the issue. They assess the need and quoted me the repair. I booked it and on the day of was told that it was a lesser expense and need than originally thought. I was very pleased with there service, honesty and customer service. The owner was there during the ordeal. I expressed my gratitude for his great team. I have been here lots of times with different cars over the years and have had nothing but the best service every single time! Last year I brought my car in to be looked at thinking it was one thing- turned out to be something else, and they let me know that while it wasn't something they could fix there (due to it being frame damage) they let me know exactly what it was so I could go have it fixed with the knowledge of all it needed! This summer I brought my car in when the water pump went out and it was taken care of right away and had great communication about the whole process! I just returned with my car yesterday thinking it was one of two possible things wrong with it (praying it was the cheaper fix) and it turned out to be the worse of the two things (sadly), but Doug went over everything with me and gave a quote for the repair of the blown head gasket. He gave suggestions for other things that we could do and talked over things with me when I explained our dilemma (more money into a high mileage car vs. getting a new car, etc). Their customer service is just way above and beyond any other auto shop I have been to! I first want to say that this place use to be amazing, by far the best run automotive business around. They were so good in fact that they got too popular and this is where I believe the problem lies. Every time you try and schedule a service, the person answering the phone (I believe her name is Sheri) makes it seem like a huge inconvenience, as though they are doing you a favor to even see your car there. It makes you feel even bad for calling them, like you have put them out. No customer wants to feel like that. I know the primary driver of your business is repair, but you are also very much in customer service as well. Act like you actually care about every customer coming through your doors, not like you have so many that it is just a huge inconvenience to even think about servicing them all. I was lucky enough to find another great mechanic down the street who is actually less expensive than Affordable Auto Repair. Please don't be fooled by the name, they aren't as expensive as the dealer but they also aren't as affordable as other mechanics on the same street. I had some steering issues with my Ford Excursion. I called affordable Auto Repair because they had good reviews. I don't know if they are good mechanics or not, I didn't get to experience that. What I did experience was a lack of regard for my time and mechanical needs. I called them on a Tuesday morning and explained what my issues were with my truck, the person I spoke to said they could take a look at the truck but it would not be until the following Monday, basically a week from the day I called them. I had no problem with that, I figured they were worth the wait based on the reviews. Because I work far from home I coordinated dropping the truck of Sunday evening and left my keys in a drop box since I wouldn't be able to take it Monday morning. On Monday, it's about 10 am and I hear nothing from them at least acknowledging my truck is there, so I decide to call them. When I talk to whomever it was, he tells me they won't be able to do anything because my truck had a lift and he didn't want anyone hurting their back working on my truck. I thought that was ridiculous the lift number one is not that big, number two they have hydraulic equipment to lift the vehicle etc. But whatever it's his business he can do that. The issue I have is I waited a week for that, when I could've taken my truck somewhere else and had it worked on which I did and the mechanic at the other shop was great! My thing is if you know you won't work on vehicles with lifts and someone tells you they have a truck or vehicle that is known to possibly have a lift, why wouldn't you ask the person if in fact the vehicle has a lift and save everyone the aggravation. It's not like I said I had a Camry or accord. Also, if your shop opens at 7 am and you know already that your not going to work on it, why not have the courtesy to call the customer and let them know right away? Had I not called them when would they have let me know they weren't working on my truck? Maybe they are good mechanics, I don't know, but they had poor regard for me as a customer. I should have written this review a long time ago. I've been taking our vehicles to Affordable Auto Repair whenever they need service for several years. I've always found them to be reliable, trustworthy and never felt like they were trying to sell me a part or service that I didn't need. They've always been fair and half the time I walk out feeling like I haven't paid them enough for their work. They've always stood behind their work and on the rare occasion when we had a small problem after a repair, they always addressed it immediately and at little/no cost to me. It almost feels like they actually want their customers to be happy! ;) I could provide several examples of their outstanding work and customer service with our vehicles but honestly, just take your vehicles here and experience it for yourself. It's a bit of a cliche, but this is the mechanic they're talking about when they say it's so hard to find a good one! Come pay these guys a visit and you probably won't have to look anywhere else. First let me say I've never left a negative review anywhere. I was a long time customer but will not return. FACTS: They "repaired" an individual spark plug issue (#3) on my ford -150. In replacing the spark plug they cross threaded the plug. When the spark plug they worked on fouled out prematurely ( confirmed by a computer read out) I returned to them to see what they could do about #3. I was optimistic at that point. Responses: Here is the list of reasons "Affordable" came up with as to why they will not address the individual (#3) spark plug issue. 1. First they differ, "We'll you need other work done..... namely all new plugs and solenoid's at a cost of about 1,000.00". (unwilling to address the individual plug they worked on this even though that's what the computer said the problem was #3). 2. "Things don't last forever" wow! ya I know they don't. But funny the computer says all the other spark plugs are fine? the only issue remains on the one they worked on #3. 3. The following one is a classic "Well you didn't pay very much for the original repair" What? I'm not sure but I guess he suggests that if I had paid more it would be a better repair?! 4. Then lastly, the service tech said "it (their repair) is now out of warranty". Then shows me a product warranty not associated with the work they did. There is absolutely no warranty on their receipt. Well I sold the vehicle at a discount. Because of the #3 plug. Anyway if you need your oil changed they can probably pull that off. read more

A while back when replacing the spark plugs at home, one spark plug was stripped. The spark plug was unusually tight. So it then broke and to our dismay the little pieces were all up in there. Unfortunately we had to bring it in to the shop so that the cylinder head could be removed because we couldn't do it ourselves. It was a costly repair (it would have been costly anywhere) but we were happy with the professionalism from Affordable Auto Repair in Murrieta, CA. Luckily our dad knew the approximate cost of the repair before bringing it over to them and felt that the price was fair. If we had more time to compare estimates from several places, we would have. However, we were short on time and were happy that yelp directed us to Affordable Auto Repair. The guy seemed honest, gave us a detailed printed estimate before the repair work was ever started, and fixed everything. The car ran great after that. He later called us in the middle of the repair and said that our seven year old car needed new hoses of some sort at the cost of $120 or so.
