When you are at your most vulnerable it's hard to ask questions that you probably don't even think…read moreabout asking when you're planning the funeral of a loved one. I will start with the pros: It's a Catholic Cemetery, It has a beautiful chapel where you can hold your service with a catholic deacon. The executive looking conference rooms are nicely appointed with baskets of snacks and water (because you're planning could take at least 2 hours). The front desk ladies are friendly and helpful. Our coordinator was sweet and pleasant and experienced. And was able to navigate our family drama with so much care. Our loved one was respectfully taken care of. They offer a video with photos that they can play before the service on TV's in the chapel. Okay, the CONS: The grounds are completely unacceptable. NO GREEN GRASS! It looks like a third world cemetery, dust, dirt, yellow dead "grass"-. For the amount of money that you pay for a service and to be on holy grounds? Ugh, it's sad and angering. Especially if you're loved one already paid for the plot...so you really have no choice. But if you have enough money, you have lots of choices. The cemetery on Van Buren and like 27th ave is green and beautiful with lots of trees, it's not a Catholic cemetery, but I would have loved if our dearly departed would have chosen another cemetery. But all of her friends are buried here so at least they are in heaven enjoying each other and not in this dust bowl. When you order the marble headstone. It is literally still a rock stuck inside a mountain in Italy! Well, at least it must be because they told us it would take 8-10 months for it to be delivered!!!! WHAT THE ....??? Yes, that's what I said. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Are you telling me that there are no local businesses that can provide a headstone? And we didn't order some giant moseleum, European statue looking tombstone! It was a small plaque to go on the ground! So yes, that part will annoy you too. But if you are smart and read my review you won't go into a state of shock when they tell you the bad news. Another CON: The Spanish speaking Deacon doesn't speak Spanish very well. it was hard to understand him. Also, he did not have the courtesy to talk to all of the family members when trying to get an idea of who he was eulogizing. He only spoke to one angry bitter disgusting member of the family who had nothing but terrible things to say about our deceased loved one. So the eulogy included..."She was not a perfect person...but none of us are!" Who says that? This was extremely upsetting for our family. Another con: they do not have a website where the will post an obituary or photo. Well, that's enough bantering. I just pray my loved one is resting peacefully in heaven and praying over me so I don't lose my sanity over the shenanigans of this funeral home!

I called Holy Cross the very next day after my mother passed away. My highly educated and…read moreorganized mom had her funeral arrangements finalized in the last couple months of her life so I knew everything was done. However, Holy Cross informed me my mom had not paid for cremation services. It took 3 days for someone to finally find the contract that she did in fact pay. This was an extremely stressful 3 days of trying to figure out how to prove to them it was completed and paid for already. My mom's dying wish was to make this as least stressful for me as possible as she knew how upset I would be. They ruined that wish for my mom. I do not recommend using this cemetery what so ever do due lack of customer service.

DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME OR PAY IN ADVANCE FOR SERVICES!!!! My experience with this company was…read morehorrible. My father passed away and he had prepaid for his cremation. There were some complications because my Dad died in the emergency room and had not seen his doctor there were issues getting his death certificate signed. My issue with the Avenidas was that the whole time this was going on they did not reach out to communicate to me at all. I had to call them to find out what was going on. I left text messages that were never returned. I continually had to call them for updates. At the same time Kevin on several occasions would make statements basically putting the blame on my Dad for not seeing his doctor. UNACCEPTABLE. I was grieving his loss and to be made to feel about bad how all this worked out was not ok. It took over a month and a half to have my Dad cremated. The only time I had a return call was when I asked to speak to the owner (Which I was passed over to Kevin who is not the owner) and when I reached out to the county to get their help getting his death certificate signed. I was called to be told "we finally found someone to sign the death certificate" which was a call from Kevin. Then when I came to pick up my Dad's ashes I was only given one urn and had to remind them of the other Urns we had left. One other thing that really bothered me was I called to find out if my dad had been cremated and the person had no idea or even where my dad's body was at that point. Unprofessional. The experience overall was a disaster. Not to mention the licenses on the wall of the business are expired. All I asked for the whole time was communication and I didn't get it. Some of the things that happen where out of Kevin's control but communication was always something he could and should have provided. When someone is grieving or trying to grieve that is the one thing that is needed. To not even know where the body is again is unacceptable. Unprofessional.

My grandmother passed away on April 26th and prior to her passing, I did extensive research on funeral homes and mortuaries within the valley. I read hundreds of reviews and made many calls and Hansen just felt right. We selected Hansen to be who we would use when the need arose. A few weeks later, my grandmother peacefully slipped away. Her hospice team made contact with Hansen Desert Hills and the process was seamless and professional. Two days after her passing, we went to the Desert Hills location to make arrangements with Cami. Nothing felt pressured or sales-driven, as we had experienced years prior at another funeral home when my grandfather passed away. We had many variables at play, including a burial trust and plans for an out of state interment, and Cami navigated everything perfectly and expertly. We also interacted with Charlii the receptionist during this process and she was wonderful as well. We picked my grandmother's remains up the following week and had a lovely walk through Hansen's memorial garden. It was all very peaceful and again, just felt right. I'm sorry if you have a need for a mortuary, but Hansen took great care of us.

My…read moremother-in-law said she didn't think she was even going to be able to stand up, so my wife and I accompanied her. Despite this, I can tell you we went from dreading it to laughing, crying, and hugging one another! This change was because of Pam, the funeral director, and her amazing supervisor, Lee. Pam is a professional in every sense of the word. I say this as a professional myself who graduated from Stanford. She showed not only expertise and knowledge, but most importantly, she showed compassion, empathy, and truly changed a dreaded experience to something that we can look back on with true peace. Obviously, it's terrible to lose a loved one, but if you want a place that will soften that blow and even give you peace and a sense of closure I would recommend Pam and Lee at Best funeral services 100%

I…read moreleft a message asking for a return call first thing the next morning, but no one called. When I reached them, I was told I needed an appointment and couldn't be seen until the following day. Before scheduling, I was required to complete an online questionnaire. I was repeatedly told that only two people were allowed in the building. I wanted my son and daughter-in-law with me, but was told one of them would have to wait outside. I was also informed we would have only two minutes to view my husband, and that additional time would incur an extra charge. Because of these policies, I decided to transfer my husband to another funeral home. I was charged $575 for the less than 24 hours he was in their care. The office manager emailed documents for me to sign electronically but did not respond to three emails requesting help when I was unable to complete them. After finally signing the paperwork and paying the fee, the receiving funeral home attempted to pick up my husband that afternoon. The office manager declined to wait a few minutes before closing, so the transfer had to be delayed until the next day. The director of the receiving funeral home commented that he was surprised I had been charged. According to him, the office manager replied, "We're in business to make money." Losing a spouse is one of the most difficult experiences a person can go through. I expected compassion, clear communication, and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Later that night I composed myself enough to start doing research our best option to handle Baxter best...however that wasn't available to us, because they didn't have to put him down. So I started fresh.. I looked at YELPS top 10...settled on a few at the top to do better research, you know the ones that don't give perfect 5 Stars 3's 4's...which you can probably trust them as much as you can the 1 & 5's but that's what I was doing. After finding to many negatives at the top places...I landed on #16, I know...who would chose them. I did, I liked the reviews I saw...glad I did. I called, Rachel answered...I became an expert in my research so she answered the questions that were important to me. Can you come by in the Morning (24/7 btw) and they could first thing. I had a few more questions (hesitations considering another Pet Place or two), she got back to me within 10 minutes...answer my questions...she said Greg would contact me in the morning, I asked about what they would pick him up in, he's a bigger dog. She said, a Camary (well I knew that was a car and would not work especially if they would put him in the trunk or something. Greg showed up on time, and guess what...it was a Camary, he was going in the trunk and I was more than anxious, pissed?...But she assured me he would fit VERY comfortably...Greg opened his trunk of his beautiful air condition Camary and I heard harp music as my fear left me..it was one of the biggest trunks I had seen, and my 85lb dog fit more than comfortably...the service just got better from there, hence the 5-Stars. 5-STARS WHY? Rachel was very warm, caring and considerate...very responsive to my questions. Greg, was even more-so, and that blew us away. My wife was a wreck she got Baxter from a rescue, so she's been there through it all. She LOVED everything about Greg! It takes special people to do this business right...2 of them (at the least) work at LEASH. They were outstanding, I asked all the questions (and more), questions that you will probably will ask...and they were perfect! Greg also has a Harley...my wife asked if he would bring Baxter back on the Harley...don't ask lol...Baxter loved car rides...never road a Harley. Greg didn't hesitate, he said you bet...and he did. Greg kept in constant contact with us, I'd ask a question and he would get back to me pretty much right away...he let us know when he would be bringing Baxter back and right on que Rachel texted me a couple days before to let me know. We got the Gold Package, which included a Paw Print (which obviously is a must) it wasn't plaster like my dogs from 12 yrs ago, it was plastic of some sort, but it was very realistic, so I know it was our dogs print...which now I can't say that about my plaster ones for sure, : / but we both said to each other, "I Really Like These"...my wife said she loved them. The Gold Package ran us $425, and because of LEASH we had a great peace of mind that he was handled with respect and care. We recommend LEASH with all our hearts!
