So happy to have Scott out from Advantage. His inspection was one of the best I've had to date -- Many inspectors are lazy or too general in their finding. He did a thorough job and didn't rush. He found all of the items that I think the seller would hope someone would miss! :) The company uses pretty neat technology and Scott was very informative and helpful when it came to explaining the issues and their potential downfalls but also options. I paid by check but I'm not sure if they take credit cards. I did email their call center regarding their ability to do a proper fireplace inspection and never heard back. Inspector remarks indicate he only checked one smoke detector.... I assume it was the newer looking one as he indicated it chirped appropriately and audibly. However he did not check the other FIVE detectors in the house which are original... 20 years old and come to find out, they DO NOT WORK... here I am at 1:30 am still at it trying to quiet these smoke alarms, after a severe panic attack because the smoke alarm went off (as in there is a fire type of going off...) but was barely audible. No fire.. I replaced the battery... it keeps going off. I checked the other original detectors.. now those are significantly inaudible but consistently chirping. This is a huge thing to overlook. This is an unforgivable oversight. We were provided a very significant false sense of security. We have only lived in the house for 3 weeks and now we have to replace all the smoke alarms... what if there was a real fire?! read more
