Very unimpressed with pricing and customer service. I paid $700 for 3 spark plugs and 1 coil replacement, which is not 2+ hours of labor. They do not waive their diagnostic fee, which was an hourly rate that they charged 2.3 hours of $195 on top of the service. I needed my car back ASAP so proceeded with the service instead of towing to another shop, and wish I'd taken the time and gone with another shop instead. The 2017 Honda Civic suddenly started doing weird things. Cruise control stopped working, startup sounded like the brand new battery was dying, acceleration turned rough and the engine lugged going up Texas Street, and the engine check light came on. Took it to Smitty's. Turned out, that cute little squirrel who had taken up residence in our yard had chewed through some wires on top of the engine. Not so cute any more, huh? Smitty's special ordered the needed pigtail (Honda would sell them only the entire wiring harness), and everything went back to its excellent normal. Tough one for me, because I loved Smittys for a long time! They serviced both of my fam's vehicles for several years. I had one especially tricky issue w my emission system that resulted in my check engine light continually coming on - they did a major repair that didn't fix it, and they kept doing minor tweaks (for no extra charge) until it was fixed. I did have to bring my car back four times, but they stuck with it! Everyone working there is friendly and kind - I really like them as people. Unfortunately my last experience was a real bummer, so we won't be back. Took my car in for new wiper blades, a tire rotation and an oil change. Got the car back, and the tire pressure indicator light came on within an hour. Used the wipers to clean my windshield, and one of the wipers didn't even make contact with the windshield - they were clearly the wrong size. To their credit, they did tell us to bring the car back in to take another look, but unfortunately on my way to the shop, the car started making a terrible grinding noise, so had to have it towed home (couldn't make it to the shop before it closed for a long weekend). I needed the car, so I ended up having to take it to another shop - they found that the noise was caused by a broken radiator fan and an issue with the camshaft that - their words - was likely the result of the wrong kind of oil being used for the oil change. Obviously there's no way for me to prove any wrong-doing, and the radiator fan may have just been a really weirdly timed coincidence, but it was a real downer that each of the three things I initially brought my car in for - wipers, tires and oil - had a significant thing go wrong within 24 hours of getting the car back. Double bummer - the camshaft replacement is SO EXPENSIVE. Anyway - we had so many good experiences with Smittys, this may be a one off, but we can't go back. read more

Overall, great experience! I'm always on guard when it comes to repair shops. Never really know the quality of work that will be done. I had an odd sound coming from my right wheel and my car needed a tune up. They did their inspection and had a list of things to fix. After the repair, the sound from the right wheel was gone. The tune up also was noticeable. The car was more responsive when hitting the gas. Also, nice little touch of cleaning the windows, pulling the car up to the front for you and then texting you later to make sure everything was good with the car. They are very, very nice here but I can't say they do great work. I'm assuming the good reviews are from people getting basic things like oil changes or changing flat tires. I brought my car here for an engine light and they charged me for their exam. They said nothing on the test revealed there was anything wrong with the car and it was a sensor issue. To turn the sensor off it would be close to $200 and require an extra day. Done. They said they drove the car and it was fine. Literally didn't even make it to the stoplight and the light is back on. They say its still the sensor and I won't know anything is wrong without the light and if I want them to deep dive I can bring it another day. Googled the error code from the test they did and it said exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. Took it to smog anyway since they said it wasn't a real issue. Failed smog. Guy told me what the problem was and said his daughter had that code. Same fix as google. Took it to another guy. Told me what the problem was. Called this place back (since i had already spent $400) and they said everyone was guessing and they needed more tests and could bring it the following week. Called 2 more auto places- said the same issue as the previous guys AND gave me 2 estimates (one for part replacement, one for whole replacement) Called Smitty's again and they again said the other mechanics didn't see the car so it's just their guess and they needed to run more tests. Took the car to the first guy who quoted me- everyone who didn't see the car was right. $200 spent. Smog passed, engine light has been off since read more
