I took my Mother to Advent Health hospital on the 10th. They said there were no problems she was just Old. I took my Mother to Orlando Health Hospital today for the same reason. All the pain. They said she has 4 herniated discs and set her up with the spinal clinic for rehab. Both Hospitals did a CT and only one found the problem. Guess what hospital we will be using from now on... I just got a really upsetting phone call from Advent Health. She was telling me that the doctor did his job correctly. Because my Mother came in worried about her appendix so that's all they checked. They didn't check to see why she was having the pain if the appendix was OK they took an 85-year-old woman's word that it was her appendix. So he did his job! If you don't know what happened, my Mother went to Advent Health because she had very bad pain and she was worried it was her appendix. So that's all they checked for. They didn't check to see why she was having the pain if it wasn't her appendix and it wasn't her appendix. I ended up taking her to Health Central in Ocoee the following week. They did their job they found out. She had 4 herniated discs in her lower back. But this Phone Call I got was Advent Health telling me the doctor did his job. So of course I said my mother and all of her medical training decided it was her appendix and her doctor at Advent Health didn't check further to find out what the problem was and you're telling me he did his job. I had considerable bleeding in my vomit and went to the hospital emergency room on Saturday the 15th, with the tests done and also my medical history, because I had the same problem a year ago. They admitted me to have an endoscopy today, the 17th... after all the preparation for the exam, which was supposed to be done in the morning, at 2 pm they informed me that the exam was no longer necessary due to lack of symptoms, even though the doctor himself had said that this exam was extremely important to see what was actually happening.... anyway... I'm afraid to go home and start vomiting blood again, and something worse happen... because last year it was the same thing... they discharged me and two days later I came back worse... I'm asking them to perform the exam or give me a note saying I was admitted vomiting blood, but that I'm fine and without symptoms and that the exam is not necessary according to the doctor. They...they don't want to do it...even though the nurse herself said it was negligence, because I should have had this exam done on Saturday when I went to the emergency room read more

I would stay far away from this office. My old PCP, Jaclyn Gunn, did not care about me as a patient at all. After several visits, it was clear she never paid attention to my chart and she would prescribe me medicine that she previously had already prescribed... two different medications she tried to get me on that I had to remind her she prescribed to me the last visit. I also had a health concern that she prescribed antibiotics for. After 6/10 on the drugs, the infection only got worse and more painful. When I messaged Gunn asking for a biopsy, or deeper look into the issue, she said that wouldn't be necessary. I then went to a dermatologist and sure enough the infection was a cyst that I have to have surgery to remove. Lastly, the office is not educated on Advent Health's own procedures. This office is incredibly far from where I live, so I double checked with the office regarding their procedures on an injection I needed and I was told I would be fine. I get to the office and am then told that I am not fine, and won't be able to get the injection I need, despite my double checking. Steer clear of this horribly incompetent office. read more

Beautiful new hospital within Winter Garden Village. They've been open for a couple years now, but everything still has that new look, feel, and smell. I scheduled some outpatient lab work here and was promptly checked in and was in and out within half an hour. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and professional. Not to mention the actual rating and review that needs to be associated with ciox medical records. For those who are unaware, ciox is now the company that handles all medical records transfers and they are the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are a joke. After holding for hours they will either hang up on you or simply refer you to a broken website. All of this while NOT transferring your personal medical data to your new doctor. Highly recommend NOT coming to this ER. Terrible experience that I STILL don't have resolution from. I was rushed to the ER April 3rd w/severe abdominal pain. It was a very quiet night. I was asked if I could be pregnant. Not possible, and I told them that. I was given two ultrasounds and bloodwork. A woman came in and told me I had gallstones and they were waiting on further results. Awhile later shift change happened and Dr. Jones, a different doctor, came in my room and reported my bloodwork was normal and my cat scan was normal. I told him I didn't get a cat scan and he flustered around and said well your blood work is normal and "we can't find anything wrong so we are releasing you" and offered me a rx for opiod medication. I was not looking for ipiods as a primary answer, and I questioned him about someone else telling me I had gallstones. He actrd surprised and then said "ok yes then go to a gastro doctor." He clearly never looked at my file or had me mixed up with someone else. When he walked out a nurse explained I should also go to my gyno for a cyst on my ovaries they found. I left the hospital and when my bloodwork results came through my email to me a couple days later I was shocked to see my results were abnormal in several areas, lots of red warning results on it, NOT normal like Dr. Jones had told me. I had gone home in pain and feeling like I had no option but the opiods he gave me. Through my own research talking to another doctor over the following weeks I found out I should NOT have resumed a normal diet when I left the ER, protocol for pancreatitis or similar events is to fast and then resume neutral foods. I had no idea and suffered for days not allowing my body to heal properly according to known protocol. Dr. Jones was clueless about my case, uninterested in figuring out what was going on, and gave my husband and me the distinct impression he was just trying to get us out of there. Really poor experience that left us with more confusion and questions than answers. The iciing on the cake was a few days later when I received and $4,000 hospital bill for this inadequate and improper treatment, including $400 I owe for a pregnancy test they gave me without my knowledge after telling them no. I feel like Advent Care Winter Garden ER has robbed me. I still don't have any clear medical answers from their staff about anything from that night but I've heard from them more than once to try to collect payment from me. Run, don't walk somewhere else. My husband was present with me and witnessed everything I have written as well. Advent Health if you respond to this review by offering me an email address to write to, it will confirm my concerns with your business model. I will update my review if Advent Health ever steps up and takes real action to make this situation right. *This is a long read, but worth it* If you are seeking emergency room services, go elsewhere. If you want a back of house staff that has no heart and makes fun of people in their most vulnerable states, by all means, come to this hospital. Let me start by stating it was a very slow night in the ER the night we arrived. So slow, that even the hospital staff made mention of it on several occasions. That said, I took my young adolescent son in for simple stitches. We were immediately admitted (slow night). We waited over an hour for someone to look at my son. Queue the lackadaisical NP. She walks in and almost immediately wants to upsell us on non-pertinent procedures. Which I immediately declined. He only needed stitches. There were no contusions and no signs of being a concussed. At which point the NP begrudgingly issued and L.E.T. gel and stated she will be back in 20 min. We waited over 2.5 hours for her to come back. Once she arrived, I questioned if she should re-apply the treatment to minimize the pain. She scoffed and began to lecture me on how the treatment works. (Funny because any research you do on this gel states its 20 min to take effect and roughly an hour before it wears off. I digress.) The NP and RN then proceeded to grab the staple gun and asked my wife and I to hold my son down. 3 painful staples later. They both looked at each other at which point the NP openly commented about another patient stating, "at least I did not have to put that tooth back in that other kid". Just as they were done mocking the other family's child, the NP nonchalantly gave us some basic care instructions. All the while my traumatized son screaming and writhing in pain from having felt the full pain of having staples injected into his scalp. read more

After my ultrasound a spot was found on my liver that required me to get an MRI. I had never had an MRI and immediately upon telling Jessica (front desk) this as she was walking me to my changing room she asked me if I was going to be okay, said it would be okay if not. When I met Kathleen, the tech, I knew I would be okay. I say this without hesitation, Kathleen was meant for this job. I had zero concerns, no stress, she was giving me tips and constantly checking in on me. I know this can be a stressful time but I hope more people get to experience kindness & professionalism like that of Jessica & Kathleen! read more

I have been on FMLA since August 10, 2020 & still no medical records have been sent to my disability insurer Lincoln Financial. It is now November 4, 2020 & I am still on hold with a Ciox-Asia supervisor 48 min. & counting. If I can login & access my medical records at AdventHealth, with a few clicks of a mouse, then why can't Ciox do the same. If I had the option of faxing my medical records directly from the portal myself, I'd send it right now! 11/4/20--This is my 7th call to Ciox. They just hung up on me & I had to call back. I worked as RN in a different advent health and this place is a death trap. the tourniquet that was needed want working and people didn't know about the need to deflate or how often. the Doppler that the surgeon asked the ER doctor to use to see if the artery was patent or flowing didn't work. when I moved here over a decade Health Central had the most dangerous reputation. One of the best Emergency Rooms I have ever been in. First off the place is new so everything was spotless and on point. I'm sure everyone's experience will be based on timing but I came here on a Thursday early evening due to stomach pain and the place was empty. I was processed and in an ER room within minutes. The whole place is cutting edge in technology do everything is done on an iPad to eliminate paper and filing. The ER rooms you go into are all sparkling clean and as comfortable as can be. I was seen by a nurse immediately who started me on an IV and administered all the good stuff. I was seen by a Dr shortly thereafter and he did his work and sent me for some tests in other rooms. Every staff member who was there was very polite and cheerful. They made it a joy to be here and although I don't look forward to having to go back, I know that I'm in good hands if I do!! read more

Maybe they should blame me for not reading minds as well. It's an attempt at damage control on your part, to mend your reputation. What about my reputation? Scheduled an appointment for a mammogram and ultrasound, when I walked in the staff was very pleasant and I was excited to have a great experience. Unfortunately, things went downhill from here. Once I completed my registration and got to the back with the radiologist she told me that I was only scheduled for an ultrasound and that I would have to come back next week to get all of the items done. The lady who scheduled my appointment had gone over all the prep items that I needed to know in advance for a mammo, I even filled out paperwork for a mammo when I arrived to the hospital and even the lady who completed my registration at the hospital talked to me about the mammo, etc. But somehow after passing through all these different people, I was not scheduled for a mammo? I understand we are all human and we make mistakes, but what bothered me was that I did not get one apology for their error, they simply said "let's reschedule for next week". When I told them I was not going to reschedule because I was not satisfied with their service, they simply said "OK" and that is it. Once again no apologies for wasting my time. This rating is based off of an experience I had at the ER. I was in intense pain and throwing up. The ER attending was just plain mean. They treated me like an opioid addict. (Which is hysterical for those that know me!!) I have had three children and never experienced pain this badly. I could barely speak. Luckily my husband was there. If I am ever in that kind of pain again (which I hope is never) I would not go to that ER. Ever. I know ER docs need to be tough, but this was just plain horrible bedside manner. Luckily I am fine. Florida Hospital Winter Garden assumes everyone is out to get high. Four and a half hours of excruciating pain, I get a pain pill for a fractured tail bone. Told the nurse that Percocet makes me break out it hives. "You can take a Benadryl with it," said the nurse. Asked the nurse to call in my prescriptions. She wasn't aware that the hospital offered these services despite the 8 1/2" x 11" Walgreens advertisement sitting next to the sink in my hospital room that offered said services. Asked about hot/cold compresses and she "didn't remember the number of days" after the injury that the compressed would be beneficial. After 4 1/2 hours of lying in pain, I get the speal from the dr about opioid addiction and how people "fake back injuries." But she "could tell that I wasn't faking." Question- why did it take 4 1/2 hours then to prescribe me a pain pill? This was after my cat-scan PROVED MY FRACTURE. It appears that you are assumed guilty and HELD IN PAIN until your blood work proves your opioid free and your cat-scan depicts a fracture. Now, I'm broken out in hives with a fractured tail bone and still in severe pain. On my way out of the lobby, I asked the staff to do me a favor. I handed the lady at the reception desk the newspaper sitting in there, told her to turn to page 9, read it, then advise the rest of the nurses and doctors in the ER on what type of person I am. Like many people, I am not the biggest fan of hospitals-but this hospital was unlike any I have ever seen! I accompanied my mom, who had a procedure done here and it was an uncommonly pleasant experience! The staff-from the receptionist at check in, to the techs, nurses and doctors were all very informative, patient and kind. The lady behind the desk in the surgery waiting area even came out to greet my grandmother and I and offered us drinks. They explained the procedure process and gave us a color-coded card that coincided with a digital screen showing the progression of each patient's surgery(prep, in surgery, recovery) which was an extraordinary bit of convenience that I have never seen and saves everyone a lot of time/stress to be able to look at a screen and know how your loved one is doing and have a timeframe for their procedure without having to track down a nurse several times. (Note: patients are listed on screen with a number instead of by name) In addition, the doctors and nurses were extremely efficient and even quite a bit ahead of schedule-my mom was recovered and ready to go home less than 30 minutes passed her original surgery time (it took approx 2 hours total, but they started early and finished much earlier than expected.) The waiting area was very comfortable as well, with several reclining chairs and plug outlets built into the side tables for charging devices. Even the ambience was pleasant and calming, with a dimming light fixture more akin to an elegant living room than a hospital! Overall it was an awesome experience and I will absolutely be returning for my own medical needs in the future. I greatly recommend this hospital to anyone! read more

THEY SERIOUSLY OVER-CHARGE: They billed our insurance company $19.6K for a CT scan, $3K for using emergency services (we drove ourselves and spent 3-4 hours in a room) and $1k for pharmacy services (no idea what pharmacy charge is for as we didn't get any drugs). Our portion of this bill after insurance is $3K. Unbelievable. I subsequently researched costs and I cannot find any source that quotes charges anywhere near this amount. Range of charges for a CT scan should be between $700- $3K. Unconscionable. read more

Although this hospital is equipped with all of the top of the line equipment, there doesn't seem to be very many who would be willing to use this equipment. While there, saw two doctors. Neither would prescribe ANY type of pain medication. When asked about this, Dr. Kizer and Dr. Frisch both explained that Pepcid is a pain reliever. (Really?! Had I known that, I would've just taken the shot of chalky liquid at home for WAY less money!) So, if you are thinking about visiting the hospital for patient care, please reconsider.
