Wow...just wow. Love how fresh it all is. Good pricing. No scales or bones. All the items look amazing. I don't know what I want to try next. The smoked wahoo dip is a must and the peel and eat was exactly what the hubs wanted. See you again soon.

While on our recent visit with our Massachusetts friends at their new snowbird home on Hutchinson Island, Florida I discoverd this gem. I was out on one of my pre-dawn adventures, lookng for another special sunrise, when I spotted this waterside shack with signs all around their parking lot with assorted seafood signs. The sign that caught my eye is their motto ONLY SELL WILD-CAUGHT SEAFOOD and that's my philosophy when it comes to seafood as well. Their focus is on those wild-caught fish is to provide antibiotic and chemical free seafood that naturally taste better and better for you. Established in 2008 by Capt. Clyde Westall Hensley and Brigid O'Keefe in one of the cleanest fish markets I've ever been in with a surprisingly clean and fresh smell. Capt. Westall with over 40 years in marine service and Chef Brigid, who's served on Yachts and cooked for US Presidents and Royals make a unique pair that have high standards and it's obvious by their strict standards for fresh raw and prepared foods. They offer fresh picked Virginia crab meat, Virginia oysters, Atlantic scallops, Nova Scotia halibut, a large variety of local fish, 100% smoked wahoo fish dip, soft shell crabs, Virginia clams, Key West pink phrimp, FL Keys Royal Reds, Bahamian Conch, Stone Crab Claws, and more. As for prepared choices there's smoked Wahoo Dip, wild Alaska salmon spread and tuna dip, conch chowder, calamari salad, Bahamian conch salad, Crab Cakes (their Chesapeake Bay recipe) peel and eat Key West pinks, and on Fridays (in Season) fresh-made Conch Fritters. Let's talk about their seafood chowder, it's what I smelled when I first graced their doors and when I spoke to the chef I discovered it was her Nana's recipe from Prince Edward Island. I have a history with PEI and have find memories of some great seafood there. I waited for that chowder to finish cooking so I could bring some back for our lunch. Now 3 of our party of 4 were born and raised in SE Massachusetts and all of us are sailors and BIG seafood people so picky, especially when it comes to chowder, is an understatement. So when we dug in we all were very pleasantly surprised and I wasn't the only who proclaimed that Nana's seafood chowder was THE best we'd ever had, yep it was that great. Needless to say I was back again and again for more of that chowder and other tasty treats. Bottom line: Everything I had from this outstanding seafood shack was fresh and delicious that I highly recommend!! I love this place. I planned on making a pasta with shellfish dish, so I called ahead to make sure they had everything I needed. Right away I knew I found the right place. The initial experience over the phone was warm, friendly and reassuring. Once I arrived, I opened the door to an aroma of delicious, fresh seafood. Holly, the woman who greeted and helped me was SO incredibly helpful. I explained what I wanted to make and she led me to ALL of the proper ingredients. She had EVERYTHING I needed, and even talked me through the preparation of each ingredient. Needless to say, the dish turned out FANTASTIC! I even called Holly while cooking to double check her advice, and she was very happy to walk me through, step by step. If you're looking for 5 star, top notch, fresh quality seafood, this is the place!

We were attending the Pineapple Arts Festival and were searching for some place nearby for good seafood. My husband located this place on Yelp and the reviews were good. He called to make sure they served lunch and while the answer was a little vague - "We have a kitchen and a couple tables outside."- we proceeded on our way. It was an easy, scenic 15 minute walk and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. While they don't cook the seafood for your lunch, they do have fresh conch and calamari salads. Both were very fresh but we preferred the calamari as it had more flavor. We also got an order of conch fritters that were cooked but refrigerated. They offered to heat them in the microwave but we just ate them cold and they were still good. The only beverage they offer is bottled water. This is a very small seafood market. I wish they would open a restaurant with all the terrific seafood they have available. If you are looking for fresh seafood to take home this is a great place. And, as we did, you CAN have lunch but the prepared options are limited. There are two picnic tables with umbrellas out front. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed sitting outside. I'm sure you could also bring your dog.

While they're open for dinner, the market part does close earlier (around 5pm). Their market has many items and they carry stone crabs during season also! The place is older inside, but in a good way that adds to their charm! The place is clean, service is efficient and friendly, and the food is delicious. They do only serve beer and wine, and there tends to be a wait during peak hours. Parking is super easy in their lot. Let's start with one of their main attractions... Scampi! They have the best shrimp "scampi" - this is a dish of just shrimp (no pasta!!), served with an addictive white wine, garlic, lemon sauce and crusty bread for dipping. We always get this appetizer! I love their fresh catch options - usually at least 5-6 varieties of fish to choose from! Get it your way, grilled/blackened/fried/with sauce preparations, etc.! The meal comes with two sides and always hits the mark. I love to pick from the different preparation options! Their lobster bisque is dangerously good and they serve Sherry on the side which we love to add into our bisque! Their hush puppies are insanely good - they have no business being that delicious! We'll be back to this local gem for more seafood soon!

We saw a lot of great reviews for Sauder's Landing…read more First downside is you are required to hand over your driver's license to a security guard to enter the island. He had it for a while, God only knows what data base I'm now part of, but hey, great reviews, let's go. The guard gave my license back as well as a parking permit. Asked about the restaurant, he said drive to the stop sign and turn left. There's a row of shops and a Sauders sign. Did get a tiny bit confusing...none of the storefronts was Sauders. There was a dingy looking alley opening...found them. Walking down this dingy alley (there were three old window a/c units running up high, I mean old, tired, dirty and all three are dripping water into buckets below them on the concrete). We get to a tired residential screen door and that is the entrance. We were greeted right away. Said two for dinner. The hostess asked if we had reservations...we said no. We asked to sit inside. This is not the restaurants fault, but the marina is under construction, there are no docks or boats outside the windows, just rebar and dirt, however the windows and screens were dirty. There are dive bars and old restaurants with charm, Sauders is neither. Inside it just looks very tired and extremely dated You know how Restaurant Impossible or Bar Rescue showes usually start, with John Tapper and Robert Irving having a lot to say. They would have a lot to say at Sauder's. Carolyn, our server, lived up to the reviews that mention her. She was prompt, knew all the specials and did a good job throughout our meal. We ordered some Calemari. The batter was falling off, so if you tried to pick up a piece, you basically had a piece of squid. The marinara sauce was hot and had a good flavor. We had the shrimp linguine Alfredo. There were plenty of shrimp. Tha pasta was spaghetti, not linguine, but cooked properly. Could have had a little more sauce but tasted OK. The meal came with a salad. Everything was fresh, cold and crisp. Carolyn informed us the thousand island was made at the restaurant and it was OK. Summary...the food was ok, the dining room was tired, oh yeah, the rest rooms were behind doors rusting under their paint in that dingy alley and my wife said the one she went into was not nice. I honestly don't know how you could give this a 4 or 5 rating. If I knew what we were going to experience, I'd never give my driver's license to that guard and we would find another of the many seafood places in town. Sorry Sauder's, you need to make an investment in your business.
