    Seafood smokehouse market
    Keyla R.

Never again. If it was up to me I wouldn't give the one star rating. My family and I decided to visit this smokehouse market because Guy Fieri recommended it. We're from Tampa. We drove 4 HOURS to try this place. When we arrived we met Brianna at the counter. My father told her with excitement that we drove 4 hrs to try their food. She seemed nonchalant and cold. When we looked at the smoked fish sandwich specials, we were told those were lunch specials that ended at 3pm. We arrived too late. So we ordered a clam chowder of some sort and crab cakes. As we're paying for our food Brianna tells us we can warm up the chowder and crab cakes at home if we wished. Really? Didn't she hear us say we drove 4 hrs to get there. To my surprise It's brought to my attention that the food can not be warmed up for you either. But no worries, Brianna re-assures me it still taste great COLD, including the chowder. Now if you like cold chowder and crab cakes then great for you but we do not. The crab cakes had a great taste and seasoning but it would've been better warm, same for the chowder. Nothing special tho. The whole experience was disappointing, from beginning to end. This was a major fail. Sorry Brianna you did make us feel very unwelcome as well.

Oh my God - best crab cake ever!!! The mermaid dip was amazing as well but the crab cake!!! You seriously have to get the crab cake!

A solid south Florida favorite, Mrs Peters fish dip is the best fish dip I have found. Try the original, the tuna or the dolphin (It really drives me crazy that everyone calls it "Mahi Mahi"). Slice up some jalapeño peppers, some green onions, get out the hot sauce of your choice, and what ever cracker you like (plain old saltine type crackers are perfect) invite some friends and crack a cold frothy malted adult beverage or three and have a blast!

The fish are happy to be smoked!

Pricing clearly needs to be lowered, but the new owners have cleaned this place up. Always a great treat, great gift spot.

While they're open for dinner, the market part does close earlier (around 5pm). Their market has many items and they carry stone crabs during season also! The place is older inside, but in a good way that adds to their charm! The place is clean, service is efficient and friendly, and the food is delicious. They do only serve beer and wine, and there tends to be a wait during peak hours. Parking is super easy in their lot. Let's start with one of their main attractions... Scampi! They have the best shrimp "scampi" - this is a dish of just shrimp (no pasta!!), served with an addictive white wine, garlic, lemon sauce and crusty bread for dipping. We always get this appetizer! I love their fresh catch options - usually at least 5-6 varieties of fish to choose from! Get it your way, grilled/blackened/fried/with sauce preparations, etc.! The meal comes with two sides and always hits the mark. I love to pick from the different preparation options! Their lobster bisque is dangerously good and they serve Sherry on the side which we love to add into our bisque! Their hush puppies are insanely good - they have no business being that delicious! We'll be back to this local gem for more seafood soon!

We saw a lot of great reviews for Sauder's Landing…read more First downside is you are required to hand over your driver's license to a security guard to enter the island. He had it for a while, God only knows what data base I'm now part of, but hey, great reviews, let's go. The guard gave my license back as well as a parking permit. Asked about the restaurant, he said drive to the stop sign and turn left. There's a row of shops and a Sauders sign. Did get a tiny bit confusing...none of the storefronts was Sauders. There was a dingy looking alley opening...found them. Walking down this dingy alley (there were three old window a/c units running up high, I mean old, tired, dirty and all three are dripping water into buckets below them on the concrete). We get to a tired residential screen door and that is the entrance. We were greeted right away. Said two for dinner. The hostess asked if we had reservations...we said no. We asked to sit inside. This is not the restaurants fault, but the marina is under construction, there are no docks or boats outside the windows, just rebar and dirt, however the windows and screens were dirty. There are dive bars and old restaurants with charm, Sauders is neither. Inside it just looks very tired and extremely dated You know how Restaurant Impossible or Bar Rescue showes usually start, with John Tapper and Robert Irving having a lot to say. They would have a lot to say at Sauder's. Carolyn, our server, lived up to the reviews that mention her. She was prompt, knew all the specials and did a good job throughout our meal. We ordered some Calemari. The batter was falling off, so if you tried to pick up a piece, you basically had a piece of squid. The marinara sauce was hot and had a good flavor. We had the shrimp linguine Alfredo. There were plenty of shrimp. Tha pasta was spaghetti, not linguine, but cooked properly. Could have had a little more sauce but tasted OK. The meal came with a salad. Everything was fresh, cold and crisp. Carolyn informed us the thousand island was made at the restaurant and it was OK. Summary...the food was ok, the dining room was tired, oh yeah, the rest rooms were behind doors rusting under their paint in that dingy alley and my wife said the one she went into was not nice. I honestly don't know how you could give this a 4 or 5 rating. If I knew what we were going to experience, I'd never give my driver's license to that guard and we would find another of the many seafood places in town. Sorry Sauder's, you need to make an investment in your business.
