We booked the Boone Hall Plantation Tour and Transportation with Adventure Sightseeing and had a really lovely time. What set this apart from just Uber-ing and paying for our own admission was convenience. The tour shuttle picked us up from the Charleston Visitor Center (worth a trip on its own) and returned us to downtown Charleston at the top of the market. The shuttle driver gave charming fun facts about Charleston on the drive there and back and provided priceless tips for how to make the most of our time on the Plantation. The other thing that I will always be grateful for is that we missed our first tour time waiting for an Uber downtown to take us to the Visitor Center. The booking office charged us nothing to rebook for another day and time and didn't give me grief at all. To me, this is going above and beyond on hospitality and service you cannot buy. We were excited to visit Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens and explore Charleston, but the rude and judgmental tour guide, Anderson, completely soured the experience. Instead of providing an enjoyable tour, they criticized how guests traveled and even commented on where people chose to eat. It came across as condescending, unprofessional, and wildly inappropriate for someone representing Charleston hospitality. A disappointing experience that left a bad taste in our mouths. I am always looking for a new tourist type thing to do with my kiddos during their spring and summer breaks. This time I decided to do the See It All Charleston City Bus Tour with my kids. It was a nice break from the heat and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour was full with many tourists and the tour guide was great with his delivery of information, history, and answering questions. We enjoyed how convenient it was finding our tour bus and how much was covered in the hour and a half ride. The price is very reasonable for a tourist option and there are many different times available throughout the day to meet your plans and/schedule. Charleston has so much history and is so beautiful that seeing it from different perspectives is always a treat. Was a beautiful day for a sightseeing cruise, enjoyed the information given on our ride. The one thing that was not necessary was the loud blaring music played while the captain was not speaking. We chose this company to have a historic bus tour of Charleston because we wanted to see more than we could just on foot and wanted to have some historical background to what we were seeing. Our tour guide was originally from New York, but he was knowledgeable about the history and some of the back stories of the Charleston, mixing history with knowledge about the architecture we were seeing. We were able to get a $3 discount from a tour guide we picked up at a SC welcome center. Unfortunately, at the very start of our tour, a bus driver from another bus company lightly hit our bus as he was trying to squeeze in to park in front of us at the Charleston Welcome Center. Because our driver had to exchange insurance info with the other driver and check the damage, our tour took off about 15 minutes late (after he asked if we were all OK), but we still got our full 90 minute tour driving by places like the Battery, Charleston Market, The Citadel, The State House, and, of course, many historic homes. read more

Went on tour yesterday and there was no air conditioning that was working properly. It was on but no cool air. I couldn't stay awake! When someone else asked to turn the air on he was told "it is on, open the window." It was very hot out. I couldn't focus on the tour because it was very uncomfortable. read more

We visit Charleston quite a bit and just wanted to do a "refresher" tour. Because of the planned holiday events, many companies chose not to run their buses that Sunday. Luckily Adventure Sightseeing offered an 11:00 am slot and we gladly signed up. The bus was full but it was comfortable and the large windows made for easy viewing. We took the tour to Boone Hall Plantation, and it was so beautiful and thought provoking. The tour bus was clean and comfortable, and our driver/guide was amazing. He had a wonderful, engaging voice and was full of knowledge about the area. The plantation mansion and gardens were stunning with lots of historical artifacts. All of the guides were well spoken and interesting. The Gullah presentation was fascinating. This is the tour company to go with! We booked another company and they were a "no show! "Thankfully, this company is well known by hotel staff and was available to fit us in! The meet up place is at the visitor center garage (where most tour companies meet) under a large shelter. The tour guides are highly knowledgeable, the small vans are clean and comfortable. The trip we took to Magnolia Plantation was excellent! The guide follows along on most of the tours but also allows for some free time! There is a small outdoor food court with excellent and fast food. Our guide answered all questions about local points of interest and recommended restaurants in the area. We had the pleasure of using this company for a tour of the Magnolia Plantation. They picked us up at our Inn on time and transported us 35 minutes to the Plantation. The tour guide was polite, knowledgeable, and showed a tremendous amount of patience for other guests who continued to be late. Along the way to the Plantation, our guide talked about the history of Charleston and we had the pleasure of having him give us a nature trail tour at the Plantation. We arrived back at our Inn on time as promised. The price of the tour was very reasonable considering how lengthy our trip was as well as how great the Plantation tour was. What an awful experience! The driver Alan was knowledgeable and a good tour guide, however nothing else about the experience was at all pleasant!!! In 93 heat there was no air conditioning! False advertisement and we specifically asked! 1.5 hours with 22 people in a small bus was stifling and miserable. Nothing about the experience was pleasant or even tolerable. After 25 minutes we were 300 feet from our starting point on a 90 minute tour. The guide 5 times forgot what he was saying and totally lost it. The topper was we were to end at 12:30p. At 12:45p we were 1 mile away from starting point and he informed us he was taking 3 people from group of 45 to a boat ride and he would not be back to the original place we took off from for 30 minutes. After completing the Charleston Harbor Tour, we went over to parking lot by the street. There was a shuttle waiting to take us from there to where the city tour would begin. At least we didn't have to worry about driving somewhere else to get there. We were brought to their depot, where we transferred to one of their tour buses. This tour occurred on February 29, 2016. Once we got on board, there were a few others already there, but the bus was not even close to full. I think this is due to being later in the day. Once on the bus, you can tell that some TLC is needed for it. Some of the seats had the filling coming out of them. You could tell the bus was dated. There was one point where Valerie, our guide, had to give the bus a bit of TLC to get it to come back on after parking at a spot for a few minutes. After everyone was on board, Valerie introduced herself and asked everyone what state everyone was from. I think we had over ten states represented by the time everyone responded. Valerie made this tour fun, including comedy with it as well. We got to visit many areas of Charleston, including The Citadel, the historic district, and many other areas. This was a very informative tour about Charleston and its history. At the end of the tour, due to traffic, we got back a bit late. Since that was the case, they didn't have any shuttles back to the parking lot. Valerie dropped all of us off where we needed to be to get our cars or hotel drop offs. My original rating for this would have been three stars. However, Valerie made this tour so much fun and enjoyable that I bumped it up to four stars. If you're visiting this area, be sure to ask for Valerie as your driver guide. She will make it a memorable experience. read more

Wayne our driver was not impressive. He made a point as does the website that seating is first come first serve. Wayne told us in the beginning of the tour that the seats we were in were our 'assigned' seats for the entire tour. However when we got back in after stopping 2 people had taken our seats which were in the first row. I am disabled and it was Extremely hard and painful for me to climb all the way to the back row. My friend is hearing impaired and could not hear anything that was said on the second half of the tour. When I said something to Wayne about our seats being taken as I got in the van, he completely ignored me. Don't set up rules and not enforce them. We went to Magnolia Plantation on a tour bus with Adventure Sightseeing. As Magnolia is pretty far (at least a 30 min drive) from downtown Charleston, we picked this tour because we had a ride without renting a car with a guide as a bonus. The tour group was small too - maybe 15 people? Our tour guide was the guide for the entire ride to and from, as well as through the grounds (official Magnolia tour guides took over during the tram ride and in the house itself). She was excellent! Left and arrived on time. Historical tidbits were great. One thing to know - when you arrive at the plantation you leave the tour bus until the return trip to Charleston. We brought some drinks/snacks, and left them on the bus thinking we'd have access to them again, but we never did until 4 hours later. read more

Very disappointed with the tour. After reading the reviews we expected a really good, informative, easy to view tour. Unfortunately the bus they take you out in is not suited to fully seeing the surroundings. Although the side windows are large you have to lean to see even partial views and the front of the bus window is so low you have no sense of where you are. In addition the tour itself does not really describe the different sections of town nor show you their differences and you are not given a map to follow so you can really get a true understanding of the layout of the city. The tour guide unfortunately does not speak clearly so was hard to understand. Hopefully the company will address these issues for future travellers. read more

Took a city tour with Valerie Stow as our tour guide. She was awesome! Remember her name if you ever visit Charleston. She will make your tour quite enjoyable. Minus 1 to the City of Charleston, SC for promoting the horse-drawn carriage industry. On another note, and no, I am not a representative from the above mentioned company, but as an animal lover, I urge those of you that are thinking about taking a carriage tour to please reconsider. Please take a bus instead of a horse/mule drawn carriage. Those poor horses and mules pulling carts with over 12 maybe more people, all day. Especially in the summer months. Abusive! I witnessed one horse pulling a cart with over 12, overweight people, for at least 8 hours. I know it was 8 hours because my husband and I explored for that long and the poor horse was still going. Dragging as the day wore on. Never saw the handler/tour guide give it water. The tour got a 5 star rating, but the city get a minus 1 for promoting the carriage horse industry. I urge city officials to be proactive, implement regulation to protect horses and hold horse owners accountable for the well being of their horse/mule. Get rid of this industry all together. Your city is stunning! It's surrounded by natural beauty, architecture, wonderful people and rich in history. Why spoil that? Please, join other states that have banned this practice like Florida, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, and yes South Carolina, Broadway by the beach. This tour company called us an hour before our tour was scheduled to start and cancelled the tour. Fortunately I was able to book the same tour at the same time for less money with another company. If maintaining a schedule is important to you book with another company. All the companies have 90 minute tours that talk about the same things and go to the same places. read more

So disorganized! We bought tix at the charleston visitor center and turned up on time (15 minutes before departure, timed ticket). The tour to magnolia plantation was oversold. (The bus drivers were selling tix to people for cash). They told us our ticket was for a different date 4/14) and made us get off the bus. We looked at our tix as the bus rolled away and we had purchased at 4:14 pm the prior day. I was very unimpressed with adventures siteseeing. Our 1st impression was a 10 minute wait at the door to the bus while Valerie (our driver) tried to book several passengers previously collected at a hotel off site. It seems that adventures administrative system is somewhat lacking. Once the tour to the magnolia plantations begun we were regained with Valerie's high volume (literaly) version of Charleston history. In my opinion the presentation was geared to a 3rd grade audience. At one point on the trip to the plantation, an elderly gentleman asked Valerie to turn down the volume from which she gratefully did. On the return trip from plantation, Valerie engaged with one of the other passengers mostly about the 1st Emanuel massacre and politics. I did learn about the great Houston pie robbery from a Houston passenger. In closing, I really can't recommend this tour company unless you can control your own hearing aide. read more

I wish I could give more stars because most of the experience was very good. Our driver to and from the Magnolia Plantation was Valerie and although I have seen reviews recommending her, I really can't. Maybe it was an off day for her but from the beginning there was confusion as to who was supposed to be on the bus and what we were going to see once there. And yes, she did have a lot of stories, but they were all over the place. We had trouble following what she was talking about and sometimes understanding what she was saying. The tour of the grounds on the train was outstanding and the same could be said about the house tour. The ride there and back kind of ruined it for me though. read more
