Our travel specialist was Laura--based out of northern California, I believe, which nonetheless didn't present any logistical difficulties for us down here in San Diego. Via a series of emails and phone calls over several days, Laura set up every facet of our trip to two countries and three cities after presenting us with multiple choices and price points: flights (outbound from LAX, inbound to San Diego), hotels, private car transport, etc. Because the trip was a last-minute getaway, our plans were somewhat fluid and dependent upon availability--and Laura didn't bat an eye when we suddenly switched our destination from Barcelona to London for the first week of the trip. Overall, Laura's work ethic in nailing down our logistics was Herculean, to say the least. We're looking forward to our next trip abroad in 2025, and will certainly use Going Places and Laura when we do.

While on the cruise we heard from multiple people that their travel agent got them ship credits, free beverage package, and or there was a gift basket in their room. We received nothing and instead had an agent that even forgot to remind us that we had to book our own airline seats no assistance from travel agency or agent. This resulted in the worst seats we've ever had in our international travels. Nor did we receive any welcome gift or as We were celebrating a couple special occasions- birthday and retirement. Again as Cadence website purports "to take care of the Client". In addition, we were told several untrue things. One of those was having to check in for a river cruise by 3:00 p.m. costing us time to explore the originating city. All in all, the river cruise was a wonderful time but we absolutely gained nothing by using a travel agent and do not recommend this travel agency- Cadence Travel.

Furthermore, he made his lack of adequate preparation the booking agent's problem, which I find completely unprofessional. If travel agencies are having difficulty competing with online travel options, then it would be a good idea to have a staff which exhibits exemplary professionalism. That means being courteous and patient with the people who are working with us.

Basically, we told Elizabeth where we wanted to go, for how long, and what we were willing to spend on the trip, and then we asked her to just "take care of it." From the plane tickets to airport transfers to hotels to train tickets to rental cars, she booked it all, booked it WELL, and booked it under budget! We could not have been happier with the experience. We stayed in six different cities, with six different hotels, and with each new hotel, we were amazed that we were able to afford such places. Elizabeth explained it's all because ProTravel has access to wholesale booking rates. Believe me, it's a deal. A lot of the hotels we stayed in posted the room's rate right on the back of the room's door. But when we checked out, the rates we actually paid for some of the rooms were close to 50% off the advertised rate. Elizabeth checked in with us (via email/text) throughout our trip just to make sure everything was going well. We actually needed to change up some of our plans on short notice, and despite the time change, she was very responsive, and she quickly accommodated our requested change. ProTravel really took all the hassle out of planning this overseas trip. There's no way I would have been able to book the same trip on my own for this same price. We arrived at our destination and was told that this is not the area we wanted to see. They will not respond to our explanation of what they did. They took our money and they will not acknowledge refunding. France is not around the corner from California and at our senior age it is not something we could do so easily. Even if she did not want to refund anything, we would have been happy to hear her admit they made some grave mistakes on this trip. The owner of this agency left town and left it in the hands of an inexperienced young lady who no idea how to do this trip.
