This was my first serious experience traveling in a foreign country, and the trip left my heart *so* full that, for a long time, I wasn't even sure where to begin with this review! I believe that one of the greatest strengths of Driftwood's programming is the level of trust and connection that founder Bri Gallo works so hard to seek and establish with all of her expedition leaders, as well as program participants. Bri has a gift for connecting with people across cultures and fostering a sense camaraderie within groups that is interwoven into every expedition she leads. Her lighthearted, gregarious, and deeply-caring energy seems to attract the kinds of guides and leaders who have a twinkle in their eye, an expert knowledge base, and are genuinely interested in offering guests authentic experiences that are full of connection and meaning. If you research trekking groups in Nepal, you'll soon understand how uncommon it is for tourists to be able to stay at the home of their sherpa, let alone spend the day at their local village school, receive cooking lessons in their kitchen, or sit around the dinner table with the locals, cooking, dining, dancing together. While our trek to Everest Base Camp was even more dazzling than one could possibly comprehend ahead of time, I found the quiet moments of stillness, the moments in between the glamour and extraordinary awe, to leave the strongest impressions in my heart. One of the unique touches of this trip was our sherpa, Tshering, made his home available to us as our own private "base camp" before and after our departure to Everest. Tshering's home felt like a reflection of his heart: it offered a peaceful reprise for us to gather ourselves and be joyfully present in the moment. Our small group shared many memorable moments by the windows of tea houses. We'd spend our mornings and afternoons walking at a steady, rhythmic pace through the winding landscape, senses heightened, taking breaks to simply stand in stillness and absorb as much of the magic of the sacred land as possible. Every evening we'd sit and gaze out at the landscape we were a part of, sketching, writing poetry, drinking tea, and speaking of dreams. We began the adventure as new travelers just getting to know one another, and we left with an unshakable bond that felt almost tribal, not just with the travelers, but with our entire Nepalese support team. There's so much more I could say about how Driftwood Adventure Trekking offers an experience unlike anything I've ever known. It's impossible to put a price tag on the depth of connection made possible through the thoughtfully curated team and itinerary. Thanks to Driftwood, Nepal now holds a very special place in my heart, and I'm currently figuring out a way to continue building relationships with this incredible country from back here in RI. I've written extensively about trekking with Driftwood on my blog. Check it out at joannaread.com if you're curious to learn more!:)

It was both physical, relaxing, and exhilarating. The picture opportunities were fabulous and Bri brings her professional touch, which we so appreciated, From the list of what to bring, to the moment we landed in Katmandu and we were picked up and at the end dropped off, every single detail was well thought of. It was one of the best vacations of my life; and I have been fortunate to travel a great deal. I brought my two daughters (25 and 14 years old) and my 25 year old daughter's boyfriend. All four of us had an incredible experience and all want to return to do another trek with Driftwood Adventure Treks.

I just had Ros plan an 11 day trip for my girlfriend and I in Bali. The trip was life changing to say the least! My girlfriend and I are extremely busy business professionals and had no time to research and plan a vacation halfway around the world. After some recommendations from close friends, I contacted Ros. From there, the entire aspect of planning was seamless. She got to know what both my girlfriend and I liked, when we wanted to visit Bali, and our budget. She arranged our air travel, travel insurance, accommodations, activities, and recommended sights to see. This trip would have not been possible without her. The reason I say this is because I would have never taken the time out of my busy life to put such care and research into traveling."Not having the time" is not longer and excuse, people! I will continue to recommend Ros to my friends as they did to me. Here's to the next adventure...

She responded to my inquiry during a family emergency of hers. I offered to reschedule but she insisted, because "I love my job". She had read my inquiry in more detail than other agents. She understood my needs and desires better than others, especially my desire to not need luxury services aimed at a different kind of client. After more discussion, she realized I had done more research than a typical client. She said it would be unethical business practice to offer to help. Even after that, she has been very communicative with tips for having a good trip. She already knows I am not giving her money, but she is still being responsive and very helpful. That's great customer service.

We originally attempted to plan everything ourselves--flights, hotels, transportation, sightseeing--but quickly realized how overwhelming it was to manage all the moving pieces. That's when we decided to try a travel agent (with all the online travel booking sites, I didn't even realize they still existed!) And we are so incredibly grateful we did! From the very first conversation, Natalie took the time to understand our family's needs, interests, and travel style. She handled everything--airfare, hotel reservations, ground transportation, activities, and dining recommendations--with such care, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm. She even thought of things we hadn't considered, and her advice elevated our trip in ways we never expected. One of the most helpful tools she provided was the TripPlan app, which housed our complete itinerary, step-by-step check-in instructions, flight details, hotel info, and all our travel arrangements organized by day and location. It also included Natalie's personalized suggestions, travel tips, and hidden gems for each destination. That app became our travel bible--it truly made the experience seamless and stress-free. What really stood out was how much Natalie cares. She clearly has deep knowledge of each destination and it shows in the thoughtful touches and curated experiences she builds into her plans. She went above and beyond to ensure that our family had a memorable and meaningful vacation, and we felt fully supported every step of the way. Natalie didn't just help us plan a vacation--she helped us create lifelong memories. We can't thank her enough and are already looking forward to working with her again for our next adventure. Our travel specialist was Laura--based out of northern California, I believe, which nonetheless didn't present any logistical difficulties for us down here in San Diego. Via a series of emails and phone calls over several days, Laura set up every facet of our trip to two countries and three cities after presenting us with multiple choices and price points: flights (outbound from LAX, inbound to San Diego), hotels, private car transport, etc. Because the trip was a last-minute getaway, our plans were somewhat fluid and dependent upon availability--and Laura didn't bat an eye when we suddenly switched our destination from Barcelona to London for the first week of the trip. Overall, Laura's work ethic in nailing down our logistics was Herculean, to say the least. We're looking forward to our next trip abroad in 2025, and will certainly use Going Places and Laura when we do.
