    Bear's Den loft
    Nicole E.

I'm pretty loyal to Adventure Village. We've stayed there multiple times. About five years ago, we stayed here for the first time in one of the Daniel Boone camping cabins. They are basically like a tiny house because they have a bathroom and small kitchen. And everything in the camping cabins is clean. The trundle bed took some getting used to, but was better than sleeping outside in a tent. It's small, but we don't come to the area to stay at the campground all day. On the first trip, we had car issues and we had to wait for a part to come in so we had to extend our stay. Dale, the owner, was super nice and we were able to stay an extra night even during peak season. We've stayed in the camping cabins several times since then and each experience has been enjoyable. This past weekend was our first anniversary so we came back, but stayed in a family cabin this time. We stayed in Bear's Den. The cabin was nice and clean. Sure, there was a cobweb on the high part of the ceiling but that didn't bug me. The rest of it was really nice. The cabin has a small TV with cable which was nice to unwind at night. We wish there was a queen bed, but actually liked the views from the loft more so we slept on the two doubles there. The kitchen had basic cooking utensils and linens, including sheets, were provided. It also had a fireplace which we didn't use since it was unseasonably warm for the fall. This cabin didn't have a Jacuzzi tub, but the campground does offer them. Some you need a 4x4 to get to. Bear's Den was good for us. The great thing about this campground is the location. You're close to downtown Brevard, the Blue Ridge Parkway, tons of waterfalls, DuPont State Forest and tubing and rafting. The cabins don't have WiFi and my phone was in data roaming, but we really didn't need it. There is WiFi toward the front of the campground and the owners are trying to get it extended, but if you've had Comporium, you understand the challenge. And the prices are more than reasonable. It will cost you more to stay in a cheap hotel outside of Asheville. For us, we'd rather stay here. Dale, his son and daughter in-law are all friendly and do a great job running the place. If you do have an issue, they'll address it. Good location. Good price. Good People.

Mouse found the first night we stayed in the hillside cabins at adventure village. This bowl was in the sink in the kitchen. Pics are1000wds

Would not recommend this place to lodge. Stayed in the hillside cabins for 5 nights for a family retreat and when we left the owner accused our family for damaging the carpet which was stained already from previous guest. Accused us of bringing pest in the cabin which the beds had fleas in it. Slept in the beds the first night and had flea bites. The first night we found a mouse dead in the sink have pictures to prove of this. Not to mention he charged us $400 for the already damaged carpet in the cabins. Would not recommend these cabins. Thanks hope everyone has a better trip then we did.

Turns out in the high months like summer you definitely need to make reservations. Lucky for us. Somebody paid for an extra night, but drove away. The Rangers are some of the nicest I've ever met in my life. They let us have the site for free and we're friendly the entire time we were there. The space was kept incredibly clean for the amount of people that were there. And when I say amount of people that were there, I mean so many people there. This is not my jam, and I probably wouldn't return to the campground just because of the sheer velocity of other people all around us. Jampacked. I'm pretty sure at any given time you could see 10 to 15 people from your site alone. The sites did have plenty of space for a 10 and a car or multiple cars. They also had a nice set up for bath houses too. They were clean and well stocked and plentiful. We were so lucky to have a guy playing a banjo across from us and we had a nice campfire with banjo playing nearby. Bought wood from the gas station but it ended up being wet so maybe even more expensive $10 wood from this campground would've been smarter . You can walk to an amazing spot to view stars and it's a very short hike to the river. Love the nature nearby as an allowed us to get away from people want to be in the moment. Seems like people are fishing nearby.

TLDR: Great camping spot, right next to the Art Loeb trailhead! Would definitely come back…read more BOOKING: Due to COVID-19, you must book online. You can do so on your phone if needed. Pretty easy, just need to know which site you want. The cost of each spot varies some. The people who greeted us at the entrance to give us our passes and let us in were very nice! FACILITIES: We stayed at camp spot #9, which had access to two outlets (which we didn't use), a picnic table, a fire pit. We were close to a communal a water spigot, bathrooms with flushing toilets and showers which had running water and were reasonably clean. My friends and I are used to backpacking, so this place felt like glamping! The only downsides are that you are required to pitch your tent on gravel (rather than grass) and that you can't wash pots in the bathrooms or with the water spigot because it's not connected to sewage lines.

Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. DANIEL RIDGE FALLS is also known as Tom's Spring Branch Falls and Jackson Falls. It is located in…read morethe Pisgah National Forest along the Daniel Ridge Loop Trail. This magical 150 foot waterfall is an easy family-friendly half mile hike from the parking area. The gravel road leading to the parking area was in very good condition on our April 11th, 2021 visit, but be forewarned this is a popular hiking AND camping destination, so the decent sized parking area fills up quickly on weekends. PRO TIP - The best overall picture of the falls is from the main trail and not from the side trail leading to the base. There is also a secondary trail once at the base of the falls that takes you about 12 feet higher. [ THE HIKE ] Walk toward the gate on the north end of the parking area. The entire trail to the falls is a wonderfully wide and well maintained forest service road. Approximately 325 feet past the gate you will encounter an iron bridge allowing you to cross Davidson River. It is here along the riverbanks we notice a half dozen hikers had set up camp for the night. About 145 feet past the bridge the trail will split. Follow the trail to the right, which is also marked with an arrow pointing towards the falls. Between the split and the falls is where you will have the majority of the elevation gain, but that being said, it is very minimal. Just before you reach the falls, you will see a small trail on the left leading upwards. Take this to reach the base of the falls, but for the best view of the falls, stay on the main trail. I love using ALLTRAILS for the topography maps which show elevation changes using sweeping lines. According to the map, the crest of the fall begins around 2920 feet and reaches the base around 2756 feet, where it still continues to drop an additional 15 feet to the main trail. This would make the Daniel Creek Falls approximately 179 feet tall, but only about 125 feet of it is visible from the trail. A drone video I saw on one website shows it in it's entirety and WOWZA, this is a very tall waterfall! The upper tiers are recessed back out of view, but it doesn't really matter because what IS visible is stunning enough. You can continue to hike the entire loop of this trail which will add 4 miles to your hike or simply walk the way you came back to the parking area making your total roundtrip hike1.1 miles. [ THINGS TO KNOW ] Total Hiking Distance: 1.1 miles Difficulty: Easy and family/pet friendly Creek Crossings: YES (1 bridge) Elevation Gain: 135 feet Waterfall Height: 150+ feet WATERFALL ATTRACTIVENESS - 8 out of 10 TRAIL ATTRACTIVENESS - 6.5 out of 10 Access to top of falls: NO Access to base of falls: YES Pool of water @ base of Falls: NO Sitting areas @ base: YES (limited) RESTROOMS: NO PARKING: YES (room for about a dozen car + more space along road) [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Easy waterfall hike that could be coupled with several other nearby hikes in the area such as Moore Cove Falls, Looking Glass Falls, Caney Bottom Falls and Cove Creek Falls. This is a BEAUTIFUL section of the Pisgah National Forest where you will be just as pleased with all the trails as you will be with the waterfalls they lead you to find. No matter if you are a beginner or have been hiking for years, the waterfalls I mentioned here are sure to please! Bring your family, friends, pets and favorite snack and enjoy hours of gorgeous nature! 2021 / 48

Initially, we were trying to get into Davidson River campground, but of course the reservations were all booked and we couldn't find a spot. Instead, we looked in the area online and found this place, and I'm glad we did. The location is convenient to all of Brevard and the Pisgah forest, a quick 5 minute drive from anywhere in town. We stayed on site 6, which was in the far corner and it was awesome. There was a grassy area right behind which the kids played on and enjoyed, and there were really thoughtful amenities throughout the campground including a bike maintenance station, a welcome center with complimentary goodies, a nice dog park and community firepit and garden. I think all the sites are full hookup, which was a nice convenience compared to the other option. We also had super strong WiFi in the camper. I was able to work and have video calls with not a single issue. It was the best Wifi we have ever had at a campground. When we arrived, the site host stopped by to say hi and introduce herself. We also had some small maintenance to do on our camper, which she made sure she gave us all the information for service centers in the area, and offered to see if they had any tools we may be missing. This is certainly a super thoughtful and amazing place, surely worth a stop next time you're wanting to visit Brevard!
