Stayed here a couple of times. Way too many rules and restrictions, I felt like in elementary school people telling me what I can and can not do. First time the guy that took us to our site went out of his way to make sure we were connected. Second time I was told they would give me a "deluxe" site, really? There was nothing deluxe about it, very close to 3 other sites to the back and to the sides, looks like at one point they may have had one pull through and converted into two sites to double their revenue, fine if you want to do that but don't do a bait and switch over the phone just to get me to pay for the site, don't tell me it is deluxe when there is barely any room between the sardines. 69 is not a Deluxe site, there is nothing deluxe about it. We stayed a few nights and then ended up staying a month. Very centrally located in the Asheville area, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Pricing seems fair for the area and again, it's worth not being too far in the boonies if you need to be close to local stores and have excellent wifi signal. In addition to the walking area around the lake, there is a wooded area that our dog loved to walk in each day. We ended up moving to this area, but might be back to rent a paddle boat to putt around the like one day! read more

Oh this park has many problems starting with the staff rude and not professional at all. If you don't pay for a premium spot they try to put you in a spot that's for one but spilt into 2 spots never have seen that before. The roads are quite frankly rubble. The dog run is not a dog run not sure what it is very little green space gravel everywhere. Spots are tight and not level just stay away. read more

We were able to stay here for a couple of weeks while my husband was working. It was a very busy campground so when our stay was up we had to go. Which is why I only gave 4 stars. You definitely need to plan ahead if you are going to stay awhile. The site we stayed in was shaded and on the corner lot. Laundry room was okay. I have seen/used better. They also had a pool that was decent as well. They had public bathrooms/shower house that was clean. I would stay here again. Staff was not overly friendly but they did their job. It's a gated community how you had a key card. We returned it and afterwards they said we didn't. The lady at the desk was on the phone and told me to drop it off. read more

We stayed at this well-maintained, clean campground for three nights and enjoyed every minute of it. We were lucky enough to back up to the lake so found that peaceful and entertaining (the ducks, geese and other wildlife). The bathrooms were wonderful (hot water, spacious stalls, squeaky clean). There is a nice activities area and semi-heated pool. The campground overall was quiet. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They recommended us to eat at 12 Bone Smokehouse, so we could taste NC BBQ, which was fantastic! (and just a few miles away). Would highly recommend this campground for a night or a week. read more

I've stayed at my share of State Parks in Texas, and the staff is nice. Most all of the state parks as well are beautiful. Then there is this park.... I have no words to express my gratitude to the staff. They have a time they want you here by. I'm new at RV'ing and driving from Memphis to here was quite the challenge (to say the least). I called them and told them I can't make a deadline as I'm driving in traffic and now a storm. They said don't worry about it, we will have everything you need on the porch. Well they did and I have NEVER BEEN ESCORTED TO MY CAMPSITE. I was tired and really needed that extra help. It doesn't seem like a lot, but that meant the world to me. Where to start... we went online on 7/17 to reserve a site for one night. They use a 3rd party company for reserving. The next day I got an email stating the reservation didn't work because they didn't have anything available. So I called them and they were able to book it (why use this 3rd party if booking online isn't actually accurate?). Strike one. Never got an email confirmation. I called them the day before to confirm and she said the email might have gone into my junk mail. It didn't. She said she'd send another one. She didn't. So at 1pm the day of our reservation she calls to ask what time I'll be there because they close the gate at 9pm because "quiet time" is 10pm and a worker has to take us to our site. Weird. Ok, now I'm stressed because we had some breakdowns that caused delays and now we are really running behind and aren't gonna make it by 9pm. After some attitude (making it sound like we were super disrespectful by needing to get there late and would disrupt their guests) and us saying we just need to cancel then she says "ok, well, we can do late check in and leave a packet on the porch"... (OK, they why did you give me grief about it?!!!!). We also really appreciated the note on the bathroom doors that said the bathrooms were closed daily from 9am-12pm so "plan accordingly" (ok, I'll let my bladder know). If check out is at noon, CLEAN THEM AT NOON! . They also stack the RVs in like sardines. You're best just to skip this place. Not hospitable at all. read more

We stayed 2 nights. The park is nice and pretty well kept. For the most part it was very quiet. There is a guy on a Harley who apparently is a long term resident. He drives through with his radio blaring. Apparently they have had complaints and haven't addressed the issue. The pond had dead ducks floating in it. That was a little disturbing. The paddle boat seats are all broken. The sites are way to close together and close to the road. It is difficult to find a place to take your dogs potty. There was also a couple of dogs off leash that ran upon other dogs while being walked on a leash. With all that said it is a nice looking park. Just needs to be upkept a little better and rules enforced. We would probably not stay again! read more

Just ok. The sites are uneven and awkward, like the terrain in the area. We had site 79 which was not paved (most sites aren't) and no usable space for a fire unless we wanted to have it by the road. Good hosts and nice fishing pond. The playground is pretty run down. Pool wasn't open when we were there, early April, so I can't say much about that. It's pretty quiet which is nice. Probably because it's mostly full timers. Wouldn't stay here again though. Everyone is on top of each other, no barrier between sites. (See pics-camper a couple feet away out every window) read more

This place was a mixed bag. The location was nice, the people staying here were friendly. We had mixed interactions with the staff and parts of the park. We have a very big 5th wheeler, and we got squeezed into a spot near the pool. It was a bit annoying to park our rig because our site had a slight uphill bump to it. There was a couple that arrived about a week before we left. They had a huge breed of dog, and noticed giant piles of dog droppings that weren't getting cleaned up (even though it's the park rules to clean up after them) One big downer too was when one person did something wrong, everyone registered got an email the following day. It was like being scolded in class because one student acted up. Talk to them directly, don't shame everyone for one person's wrong doing. The bathrooms and showers were big, warm and kept clean. The laundry room was nice, but never used it. I think this place might be more fun in the warmer seasons, so I'm giving it about 3.5 stars. You can fish in the pond (looks like you get away with calling a pond a lake because you have running water that goes to it) it's catch and release except for the catfish, you can keep them. Over by the front office, there is a bench with duck food over near the water, but bring quarters (gotta pay for the food) read more

I would like to preface this review by stating that we came here for tent camping. If you have an RV, I have no idea what sort of experience is expected at an RV resort. The people in RVs at this place seemed very happy, and it looked like they had more space than other places I have seen. We stayed here Memorial Day weekend, finding Rutledge Lake after realizing that all the walk up national park sites were already full. This place is primarily an RV resort, from what we could tell. We started off by taking a look at the available sites... there was one on gravel in between 2 RVs with no fire ring.... that was a no. We were fortunate to see a relatively secluded area with plenty of trees next to a creek, and the staff was nice enough to bring a picnic table and fire ring to this site. We ended up having a nice stay, not ideal but at least we had a little privacy and even some foliage. The facilities were very clean, and although we had no use for it they do offer free wifi? What really gets me about this place is that they charged us $50 dollars for one night of tent camping. I have never payed so much for a camp site, and frankly it's a rip off! We were told that this was the "holiday weekend" price, and clearly we had no other options so we were forced to fork up fifty big ones for a patch of grass to pitch our tent on. There are plenty of beautiful places to camp in this area that cost $15-25 dollars per night and have more to offer your typical tent camper. Go there. If "there" is completely booked, Rutledge Lake Travel Park is a good option, but be prepared to sulk after you pay way too much for a mediocre site. read more

This park is well run. We were escorted to our spot by golf cart. The park is clean and well kept. Bathrooms are nice. We were here in heavy rain. The site took the rain well and was dry the next morning. There is a playground for kids and a stocked fishing pond. The park is close to Bent Creek, which is great for mountain biking and running, and the NC Arboretum. We will stay here again. Don't come here looking to be entertained, but it is a great base camp. I would give 4 stars, but this park is too good for 2.5 avg rating on yelp, so I im upping the score. read more

Fantastic RV park!! People there are so friendly and nice. The workers there are caring and very helpful.The owner cares about the people staying here and tries to make sure everything is just right for her guests. Free paddle boats, canoes, fishing, and so convenient to everywhere. By far the best park, I have ever stayed at. Quiet, peaceful,spacious sites and well maintained bathrooms, cabins, and such were immaculate. I would give it 10 stars if I could. We will be back again for sure!! read more

We stayed here for 4 nights. We have stayed at many campgrounds over the years and this was ok. The problem we had was the internet. We needed it for work and they had several to choose from, but none worked. It kicked you off so much, we found ourselves going into our car because it has its own WiFi. It was very frustrating and hard to deal with. You need a reliable network to support each site and all people using it. If hotels can do it, a campground should too. All sites seem to be gravel which is difficult all around. The picnic table was hard to sit at in the gravel and our chairs sank in the gravel. The staff at the front seemed annoyed to answer questions. This was the worst of all camping stores we've ever stayed at. I like when you can grab drinks or snacks and not have to get in the car and drive. We found ourselves at target or Walmart for detergent to do laundry and then again for drinks and snacks. The sites are very on top of each other. We have a small dog and there was barely any grass at all to take her on. We kept taking her on a hill in pine straw near bushes to pee, but it was like she was searching for grass. On a side note, not good or bad, but the first ever campground I didn't see a bunch of kids riding bikes all over or kids playing. Also you saw no one really outside their campers in the 5 days we stayed except to get into their cars. It was hot, but not so hot people shouldn't sit outside in the evening. I did see a train going around the campground for very small kids and they do have a pond/ lake to fish at. They also have several little cabins too. We had someone stay at one while we were here and they had a kitchen, bath, bed, couch, and tiny loft in it. If I were the owner, I'd really look into much better, faster wi-if. read more

BEWARE !! I made a reservation on September 20 for a few days in mid October and called the following morning to cancel. I was charged $49.50 and was never credited a refund. My followed up phone calls were unsatisfactory/unpleasant and email messages have yet to be answered. We've traveled around the country and made changes to reservations without any issues. Don't stay there. I stopped at this hole in the wall place for what was originally to be a one night stop that turned into 2 nights because their gate closed on my 5th while entering the campground causing damage to it. (That is after being inside the gate between the truck and 5th wheel). I could not get a hold of any in charge personnel and finally was given the owners phone number of which I could only text with. I was asked to get estimates then I was told it would be turned over to insurance and now they are referencing a line on the invoice saying they are not responsible for accidents and denying any responsibility for the damage. Aside from the lack of professionalism and lack of ability of having the very basic skills of managing a business the place is a whole in the wall. Sites are small and unleveled. Very tight turn around for larger RV and 5th wheel. Certainly not worth the price nor the exposure to such in-apt people while you are on vacation. read more

Only stayed here one night, but it was a great place to stay. Lake and trees and fog made for a stunning and beautiful scene.

We visited Rutledge Lake on our way down to Florida in April to our daughters wedding. Made a last minute reservation and office ladies were very friendly and pleasant. The young man who escorted us was great. Showed us our hook ups. Came back a short time later to make sure everything was ok. He had to escort another camper. Didn't mind the gravel. We actually like better than concrete. Makes for a real camping experience. Concrete pads are made for glampers not campers. lol. We were on the creek side which was quite peaceful. Loved the 3 Ducks that just waddled thru. Bathhouse and laundry are clean. My wife loves to fish and found lake quite plentiful. We will be back for the Memorial weekend. read more

Location is great, but park has issues. If you are staying weekly or monthly, beware of price increases and site moving. Me and wife went there month to month Feb 2017. $695 off-season, $795 in-season, $100 electric credit (you pay remainder if goes higher). The second month we were there the owner took away electric credit and we got a bill (without notice) for March electric. No big deal. May/June comes around and our off-season rate gets removed (late fall/early winter through spring). As the months continue we, and several other campers, have gotten double charged or over charged for propane/electric and even rent, because the front office is a revolving door. New staff members every 2-3 months, and all undertrained. Susan, the office manager, is very nice and you can tell she is fed up with the owner because how many complaints we saw over the course of 10-12 months. Right before we left (March 2018) owner decided to raise the price of month to month to $900 and 1,200 for some pull throughs. She is greedy, does not care about anyone staying in the campground, and will probably continue to raise prices in the next coming years. Also, half the washer and drier units are always "out of order", WiFi is terrible, and sites are back to back and incredibly tight. Owner is money hungry, does not know how to run a campground and constant work is being done to fix numerous water connections, it has gone on and off without notice as well. Only thing this campground has going for it is the location. read more

I absolutely love this campground. It probably isn't the ideal place if you have kids and plan on spending a majority of your time in the campground during your stay. It is nice & quite! The bathrooms are very clean, the grounds are kept up and they have an outdoor pool. I have stayed here several times in their cabins which are also wonderful. They are located around so much to do and see. We usually stay there for all our visits to the Biltmore which they sell the discount tickets for as well. read more

The customer service at this place was great. What a great staff. Clean bathrooms and huge showers with inviting music and not much traffic in them. However there were a few disgruntlings we had and overheard constantly from other campers. Questions on whether or not the pool was kept to regulated health standards, the recycle and trash dumps seemed to be at their max the majority of the time, the wifi absolutely didn't work. Period. except for at the main office..makes me question what else is going on that we don't know about. It's the little things that matter and for the most part this campground did so much right, why not make it all right and eliminate the low murmurs of questioning campers all together? read more

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Park was beautiful, clean and well kept. Perfect up until time to wash a couple of loads of clothes. Only 2 out of 6 washers operating and 3 out of 5 dryers operating. We had to wait on both. Others folks very unhappy about it and it had been reported 3 days earlier by one of the residents. THE most boring park on the planet. Nothing going on here. There are NO ongoing activities for seasonal or regular campers, nothing except a few lame attempts on very few holidays and even those fell flat. Labor Day weekend, they advertised free ice cream from 6-8. At 7 nothing was there. NO WIFI barely, we had to go to the local library to receive it during busy times. Don't bother bringing your laptops or tablets. Everyone is competing for WI-FI signal, and the sites are so close together you can touch the next one over. They are all gravel. The pool has not been heated in 2 years, its cold, this is the mountains! The clubhouse closes at 9pm during peak season, when there are tons of kids, it should be open later. One weekend the clubhouse was closed an entire weekend for a private gathering of some RV club. The staff up in the store is hit or miss, the first day we went in asking for directions to something merely 10 minutes away. The person working didn't know how to get there or where it was on a local map. Also, there are TOO many rules. Campfires out by 11PM or else! For the price they charge, it didn't offer the amenities we look for, we will not be coming back. read more

We came here for several weeks in July and enjoyed ourselves. It is a lovely, well maintained place. Quiet as well, which is a big plus. There is a small pond for fishing but we just enjoyed sitting on the dock in the rocking chairs in the evening. Our 3 year old loved the train that came around and gave the children rides. The pool was pretty crowded but that is to be expected when it is hot and sunny. Better recycling bins would be a good idea. We are thoroughly enjoying our year traveling in our motorhome. read more

This place and it's owners and staff are a joke! They will keep your deposit for any little thing they find wrong. So if you stay in a cabin make sure when you do the walk-thru you point out everything you can, like the verticals that in our cabin were all broken and falling off. The couch that you can't sit on without sinking to the floor and forget sleeping on the pullout, you fall right through. The gas stove you have to manually light. At the end of our stay when we checked out they told us that we broke the couch and refused to give us our deposit back. Very rude, unfriendly, and not very helpful staff. I would NOT recommend anyone stay at this RV park. Trust the bad reviews. read more

The last stay I had here was a couple of years ago. The facility itself seems fairly nice with a little lake. There was supposed to be a game/recreation room on site, but I found it was not "in use". When I asked the owner told me she had a large group of 'less than legal' construction workers housed there. She said it was just temporay but they were there the entire time I was. I did use the laundry facilities which were good. And I did use the wifi. I also asked about the tent camping. The price was crazy at $50 per night. The Rodeway Inn (which is admittedly a totally different experience and is just used for perspective) offers donuts, coffee and is closer to many of the local trails and activities, has a $39 coupon deal most days. One more thing, watch your final bill and if you give a credit card, check your statement. The owner's behavior was sometimes good, sometimes not. I was told by a fellow camper that she is unstable.
