Met with Cypress for a skills lesson, very knowledgeable and a very good teacher, was excellent at reviewing the taught skills and breaking down and correcting the issues. Went for a ride after the skills and he knew the trails needed to practice the skills. Day 2 took a guided tour lead by Will, again an excellent part of the Bike Farm team, took us out to DuPont and shows us some amazing trails, even had chocolate chip cookies after the ride. Guided Rides - Our guide Josh managed to make it all work perfect; for a mom who is truly a mountain biking beginner, the dad who seems to be able to handle anything and the son who really enjoys a challenge. My point is, they happily accommodate all skills levels. Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. The Bike Farm is the perfect spot for lodging and riding in the area. You're up on a mountain, close enough to civilization to where things are convenient, but out enough to where you get that real camping feel. The grounds and facilities were clean and peaceful. While I was there, I had some car troubles and Brian and Josh were very helpful in giving me a ride to the mechanic and made sure I had everything I needed. What a great experience at The Bike Farm! My buddy and I were driving across the country and made our first stop here. We got there late at night. Not only did they leave all the camping gear for us, they also upgraded us from the car camping site to the deck camping site for free. We did a guided mountain bike tour with Bryan the next day. He took the time to fit us with the right bike. He was very knowledgeable of all the trails and were great to bike with. We had a great time biking in Dupont Forrest. I will highly recommend anyone who is looking to have a great mountain biking experience regardless of your skill level and/or camping experience in Asheville. read more

We had a great last minute getaway to the farm. I contacted Cashion and left a voicemail that I'd like to make a last minute reservation. He texted back promptly (on a Sunday morning) that he'd opened up a couple of sites as options for me to pick and reserve. The check-in was easy as a lady greeted me at the staff house and gave me last minute details about the property. When we arrived at our site another staff member stopped by our site and checked to make sure it was clean, asked if we needed additional info and gave us tips on the trails around the property. We didn't have much time this trip to explore the whole property by did enjoy several laps on Etta's Way trail and some play on the pump track and skills park! read more

My wife and I had a 3 hour coaching session today so we could learn the basics of Mountain Biking. We had only been riding for a few months so definitely novices but learned many practical basics in class with Lane. He is great at explaining, demonstrating, and then allowing you to do what he just taught providing helpful comments so you improve on the skill he just taught. While it may seem like 3 hours is a long time but the time passes quickly as you focus on the new skills. As a side note, my wife and I are both runners and mountain bike weekly so we consider ourselves to be pretty fit though not athletes. In any case, we were pretty worn out from the class but that's a good thing. If you're not in that great shape, no worries as I'm sure Lane can tone down his instructions to meet your fitness level. We're going to work on the new skills for a month or so and then return for another session to recheck our form as well as learn some next level shit. read more

If you are a mountain biker, surely Pisgah and Dupont Forest in western NC is a place on your bucket list. The Bike Farm is a great place to base-camp for your two wheel adventures. Here is why: -Great staff that loves to mountain bike and knows the area trails inside and out. -Car and Deck camping sites are reasonably priced and the site amenities (potable water, hot showers, porta potty) are a step up from the multitude of free primitive campsites in the area. -Convenient location to Pisgah/DuPont trailheads and Brevard restaurants/stores. In addition to camping, I decided to get a guide for a 3 hour ride. This being only my second trip to the area, I wanted someone to help me plan a route based on my riding abilities and style. Bryan was my guide and he did not disappoint. Very professional and the route he selected was spot on. In addition, he was able to give some suggestions for the other days I was staying there but would not be taking a guide. As a solo rider, Bryan made navigation a breeze and all I had to do was follow and pedal (hills are tuff on this Floridian). In addition, the piece of mind was nice, since ATT mobile service is pretty spotty on the trails. Interestingly, I did have 4 bars at my camp site (DC1). Net/Net...The Bike Farm is great, especially if you are camping and getting guide services. If you are a seasoned veteran of Pisgah, you may find the free primitive camping in Pisgah suits your need for a rugged back country experience better. read more

We were disappointed. The campsite was right on the road so noise from passing cars was terrible. There were few options for placing a tent. The showers were very bare bones and we couldn't keep the hot water going. Also you have to drive up to the showers from the campsite. The "glamping" option looks cool if you want to pay the price but avoid car camp site #1. We actually left and went to a NF campground where the showers and campsites are much better. read more

We really enjoyed camping two nights in a forest camp site. The site was nice with lots of tress and a short walk from the main road. A shower and water pump closer to the forest and car camp sites would have been nice. The staff was very friendly. Seems like they have lots of projects underway. We rented bikes nearby at The Hub then tried out the mountain bike trails at Sycamore Cove near the Hub and Bracken Mountain Preserve near the Brevard music center. The trails were pretty "technical," which I found out means they are narrow with lots of roots and rocks. As a beginning mountain biker, I thought they were pretty hard so I ended up pushing my bike a lot. It was fun though, especially for my fiancé who has more mountain biking experience than I do. For a more beginner-friendly ride, DuPont state park was recommended. It sounds like they have trails to accommodate a whole range of experience levels. Have fun out there! read more

The Bike Farm is an absolutely wonderful and happy place! We stayed at a beautiful campsite on a platform nestled in the trees. The facilities in general are great, and also include "glamping" tents with balconies facing the forest view, hot showers, campfire, and delicious fresh drinking water. We felt very welcomed by the staff. As for the most important part, the mountain biking! The Bike Farm has an impressive fleet of top-of-the-line Santa Cruz mens and womens rental bikes. One of the guides, Brian, took us (a group of 6) on two amazing rides in Dupont and Pisgah, and we all had a complete blast. He took the time to tell us what to expect on the trail, and even coached some of us through some of the gnarlier features. It was the best possible way to spend a weekend, and we will most certainly be back. read more

This place is amazing. I came here for a guided tour of Dupont and was given the best three hours of mountain biking that I've ever had. Josh was awesome at getting us the best possible rides that matched my skill set. The rental fleet they have is also pure bike porn. Seriously. They have almost the entire range of high end Santa Cruz, Julianna and Kona bikes. I almost used one of theirs and left mine at the garage. I highly recommend this place for any adventure related to camping, hiking, biking or glamping. You won't be disappointed. read more

I went to this place after a quick internet search and reading the reviews. We booked deck camping sites #2&3. They were secluded and provided ample room for our tents. Best of all was the day we went for a guided ride with Brian. He was extremely professional and began with an assessment of our groups skill level. From there he proceeded to take us on a 4 hour ride that couldn't have been more spot on for what we wanted. He included a lot of climbing, technical descents and views that could not be beat. I camped at the bike farm for a weekend with a friend. Josh was our guide on the trails of DuPont Forest, coaching us on the single tracks. This was an incredible experience. Josh was the perfect guide: genuinely kind, patient, a skilled biker, very knowledgeable of the area. He took us to the most scenic parts of the park and to the best trails. He was really great. The bike farm campgrounds are beautiful. I'm glad we reserved one of the car camping sites - I don't think the photos on the website give them justice. These tent sites are sunny, with a beautiful hill right behind them, and with plenty of space between adjacent tent sites. Definitely an experience to repeat soon. read more
