We had enjoyed my past trip with Karen so much that we made plans to return to Cabo specifically to spend three days with her. She arranged a two day trip for us to see the grey whales with their babies in the "Santuario de la Ballena Gris", and planned another day for us to swim with the whale sharks. She planned every detail. Communication was perfect and she is organized and prepared. A true professional, she was also so flexible about allowing us to decide how to spend our time, giving us plenty of ideas, and switching things around when we wanted to. She took care of all the transportation, permits, snacks and meals, boats and wonderful captains, wetsuits, equipment, Spanish translation, and lodging near the grey whale sanctuary. We learned so much from her and always felt safe and cared for. We were fortunate enough to observe caracaras, countless grey whales feeding and training their babies to prepare for their long migration, and herons and seabirds on our trip to the reserve. She had a long drive, but the experience was phenomenal. Then we had planned to see the whale sharks, planning the entire trip around the peak time for whale shark viewing -- but on the day of our trip, the whale shark refuge was closed (I believe because the previous winds had encouraged them to move 60 miles away to feed, something that was unprecedented). Although we expect they'll be back soon, we had to decide what to do with our last day with Karen. She had so many fantastic ideas and was able to pivot her plans, preparation, boat and captain to a custom-designed trip for us. She drove us to La Paz with a plan to take us out to swim with the sea lions at Espiritu Santo, part of a UNESCO world heritage site. But before we got to the snorkeling site, we were astonished to have two juvenile humpbacks repeatedly breaching out of the water in front of us. We were the only boat around and paused to peacefully observe their playful antics so close to us. We also got to see blue footed boobies and frigatebirds with their red breasts on our way to the site. Then to the sea lions. The pups were around 4 months old and many of their mothers were off fishing, so the pups hopped in the water with us to play as we snorkeled over the beautiful reef. Karen pointed out so much while we snorkeled together. It was an experience of a lifetime and we felt like we had so much time enjoying the pups; other boats were there but Karen guided us to an area where we felt like we could really enjoy the pups in solitude. They tugged on my fins and jumped on my back more than once. Back on the boat and on our way to our next stop, we paused to enjoy the playful dolphins checking us out. Peaceful and touching experience. Our final stop that day was Balandra Beach. We walked from the boat in the shallow clear turquoise water all the way to the sandy beach and enjoyed solitude at the beach, listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. When we returned to the boat, they had prepared a delicious fresh ceviche lunch that the captain had prepared. It was a perfect three days and we plan to return again to see the whale sharks! I cannot see any reason to enjoy this area with anyone else and highly recommend it. Definitely take some time from your Cabo or La Paz vacation to explore with Karen. read more

Last week my daughter Courtney and I had an amazing time experiencing the joy of diving in the beautiful waters of Cabo. This was the first scuba diving experience for Courtney (14) so she was a little nervous, but any trepidation was short lived. Karen explained the diving process and details of the equipment in a clear, easy-to-understand manner that instilled confidence and enthusiasm. Once in the water, she provided a calming, comforting presence that made the experience more memorable than we could have possibly imagined. If you are looking to truly snorkel and not go on a booze cruise this is the place for you. My partner and I wanted to experience the ocean and the animals in it and we were able to do just that. Karen took us to beautiful Cabo Pulmo which is a protected national park. We saw dolphins and manta rays in the ocean. We swam in huge schools of one eyed jacks along with sea lions. It was incredible. Also, I would say a bonus was Karen, our guide and owner of the company. Her love of the ocean and its creatures can be felt. This is more than a job to her; it's a way of life and she shares that with enthusiasm. This trip was an amazing experience. Karen planned it all for us - she picked us up from our hotel, coordinated breakfast/lunch, set up the boat and crew, and even had all the equipment needed. We did the sea lions and whale shark tour which will be something we never forget! Karen was super knowledgeable and knew the exact spots to be in - her personal experience with the seals made it even better as they recognized her and were very active and playful with us! We were even able to spot a couple blue whales and were perfectly placed!! I coordinated a whale shark trip for 8 and all us of are trying to figure out when we can come back to Cabo and do another type of trip with her. I've been coming to Cabo for 20+ years and this was one of the top 5 experiences I've had there. I researched for hours the best way to see Whale Sharks and Sea Lions and I'm so glad I found Baja Adventures on Trip Advisor. We were booking about 2 weeks out for a trip in early October, which is the very start of the season. They were extremely responsive via email and answered all our questions patiently. We considered driving ourselves to La Paz but are so grateful we had them handle transportation. We paid a small deposit and anxiously waited for our trip. Day of we were picked up early in the morning to maximize our time in the water. Some of us slept more, some chatted but we all agreed our driver was great and Karen did a great job getting to know us and easing any concerns some still had. On the way we stopped for a yummy breakfast and enjoyed learning more about the local area. After a quick dive shop stop for equipment we were off! We had expected a little panga boat but were pleasantly surprised the boat was a bit bigger than that. We got to see a ton of the coast, amazing bird colonies, cool land features and our main events did not disappoint! We started with the sea lions and it was so cool. Karen did an incredible job; she checked on us regularly to ensure we were all safe and comfortable in the water, she kept us moving to see the most active pups and she took the coolest pictures! When booking I had kind of considered the Sea Lions a consolation prize if we didn't see the whale sharks but that's definitely the wrong attitude.... this was very very cool and absolutely worth with the time to see. Next we were off for lunch in a perfect little beach spot with incredibly clear and warm water. We devoured a ton of delicious locally made ceviche for lunch (along with sandwiches, salad, chips, drinks, etc) and took a little rest to get ourselves ready for the Sharks! All day Karen was an expert at moving us along to keep on schedule but making it feel natural and not at all rushed. When we got to the whale shark area it was a waiting game but we had a secret weapon. Our boat captain was incredible at locating the magnificent animals. We were blessed to be able to see 3 Whale Sharks in roughly the same area and instead of their normal behavior they were just hanging out chowing down so we easily spent 45+ minutes rotating swimmers in the water to see the amazing sight and no one had to chase after any of them. As the person who coordinated the tour I felt so relieved when everyone was able to have an experience in the water with them. Again Karen was great at checking on those in and out of the water to ensure we were all safe and confident. On our way back to Cabo we were beaming and exhausted! Again we were grateful we weren't driving ourselves. We were able to look at all of the pictures we took throughout the day and Karen was incredible about loading hers in Dropbox and emailing us all the links! FANTASTIC DIVE TRIP! Diving with Adventures in Baja was incredible. My daughter just got certified and I hadn't been diving in a while but Karen totally took care of us. She is super knowledgeable about the marine life and her passion for protecting the ocean enhanced our experience. We did a three day package and saw so many fish, rays octopus guitar sharks mantas it was incredible. Even a lucky encounter with a pod of Killer Whales. Karen selected our dive sites in Cabo, the corridor and Cabo Pulma based on weather and current so we always felt comfortable. And not diving with the hordes was a huge plus! For my 30th birthday, I did a private island tour with Karen, and we snorkled the Santu Espiritu Archapelago. Needless to say, Karen provided an incredible experience and her passion for protecting and preserving the environment was such a pleasure to hear. We found 'Adventures In Baja' via 'Girls That Scuba' website and used them for our diving trip to Southern Baja area (Cabo San Lucas, La Paz and Cabo Pulmo). Service, from the start to the end, was exceptional. Owner and operator was professional, timely, organized, personable, helpful, knowledgeable of the area and very well connected with the local diving network, which has proven to be the key when it comes to finding best dive spots based on the weather and other conditions. Dive groups were small (2-4 divers) which is always more enjoyable than being on overcrowded boats and having obstructed underwater views. Dives were very well executed from the technical and safety perspective yet sooo much fun when it comes to wonderful and exciting marine life of the area. We joined Karen for a day trip to La Paz to swim with the sea lions and whale sharks. Swimming with the sea lions was very fun, they were great to watch under water and were very playful. The whale sharks were also fun. We had a slow whale shark day but Karen and the captain were able to locate one for us to swim with which was pretty unique. The water was a little cool but Karen had nice wetsuits for us to keep us warm, and it's definitely worth it to see these amazing sea creatures! Had a great time hiking into the rural mountains of the Sierra La Laguna north of San Jose del Cabo with Karen. We left a rural ranch, followed by 3 very cute dogs incl one puppy who thought it would be GREAT to go on a walk!! Hiked through cactus and desert foliage, and ended up at a stream with a little oasis in the desert, then returned to the ranch for a wonderful Mexican meal of chorizo, rice, beans and fresh fruit juice. A different kid of adventure and trip than the beach experience. Karen is great. We look forward to returning hopefully next year and avail ourselves of the opportunity to dive and snorkel and experience the large pelagic and mammalian fauna in the Sea of Cortez and off Baja. read more

After much research of Whale Shark Tours in Cabo, we choose to go with Karen and Adventures in Baja. The reviews were fantastic and seemed like a very intimate experience. We were staying near the Cabo marina over Christmas for the first time ever. We weren't sure if this time of year would be busy or not... thankfully it wasn't busy at all. It was perfect! My fiance and I booked a shared tour, but we ended up being the only 2 people on the trip. Karen picked us up in a car about 6am from Cabo and we headed up to La Paz. We stopped for an early Mexican breakfast before making our way up north. We had a few other local tourist from La Paz join us for our boat trip out to find the Whale Sharks. Once we spotted our first few whale sharks, they blew us away with how big and majestic they were. They literally took our breath away on the first jump in to see them. We spotted about 5 or 6 whales and got a great view of them all under the water. It was a great day. Afterwards, Karen drove us out to one of the local beaches in La Paz - Playa Balandra beach. we hiked out to the rock formations and got a great view of the cove. On the way home we stopped for local fish tacos before driving back to Cabo. A big day, but well worth the experience! Thank you Karen! read more

My wife and I went on a snorkel trip to Cabo Pulmo and it was incredible from start to finish. Right from the get go we were treated as if we were good friends, not clients. It was a very personalized trip and not your average guided tour. Our guide, Karen is incredibly knowledgeable and shared a ton of interesting info with us the whole trip. She gave us a good rundown of what we could expect to see while out snorkeling. Also informed us of the history of Cabo Pulmo and how it all came about. While snorkeling, we got to swim with a whale shark, dolphins, a huge school of big eye jack, grouper, a ton of different fish, and sea turtles. We visited a colony of sea lions and even seen a manta ray jumping out of the water! After our time snorkeling, We had a fantastic authentic home made Mexican lunch. We can not thank Adventures in Baja enough for an awesome trip. Hands down the best trip I have ever been on. Karen provided my family several great adventures during our stay in Cabo. My husband & I completed our skills for Advanced Open Water Diving with her. She made it simple and easy. She kept & cared for our gear at a local shop so we didn't have to keep schlepping it back to our place as we didn't rent a car. She did 5 dives with us in not so great conditions, but still made it very enjoyable. Our daughters then took an adventure dive with her. I have done one of these in Hawaii & received very little instruction prior to hitting the water. Karen had a daughters join her at the local dive shop for instruction & pool time. Then we all ventured out for 2 dives. Our daughters really enjoyed their experience & Karen's great attitude!! She then picked us up at our condominium & took us on an amazing hike in the National forest. Karen knows an amazing family who owns a ranch at the base of the national park. Rogelio guided us up the river, pointed out amazing wildlife & brought us to a beautiful spot to dip in the water. After we hiked down, his mom made lunch from ingredients grown at the ranch. Amazing food & people!! Definitely an experience you can only get through someone who knows the local people & respects the area they live in. I can't say enough great things about Karen. If you want an experience in Cabo that is away from the usual tourist activities, Karen is the person for you. read more
