My dad, boyfriend and I absolutely loved our diving experience with Cabo Private Guide. We were looking to scuba dive and didn't want to go out with a large group of people, so Cabo Private Guide was perfect for us. Our dive master David, and captain Israel were both wonderful and very knowledgeable. We went diving near the arch and it was beautiful and not too crowded. The visibility was great and we saw a lot of cool marine life. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the expertise they provide is well worth the money. I felt safe the entire time and they prepped and cleaned all the gear for us, unlike other dive companies I've gone with. He made sure we were safe, gave us lots of little tips (even under water) for how to adjust our buoyancy to get the most out of our dives, and generally had a wealth of knowledge about the marine life. It was by far the best diving experience we have had in Cabo San Lucas, and the team was both generous and professional. We had our own personal dive master Juanito Montoya) for the two of us who not only took care of all our needs and concerns, but took some amazing footage of our dives to add to our own. Having our own dive master allowed us to take advantage of our Advanced Open Water certification and dive deeper and separately from the other groups on the same boat/location. This made it very personable, and having the same dive master on all of our dives made everything more comfortable. My partner sometimes has equalization issues, so we were able to descend at our own pace when the situation occurred, and not worry about keeping up with the group. We also saw the largest dolphin pod we have ever seen, and the crew & captain let us hang out with them as we floated along sides with dolphins as far as the eye could see in every direction. We got to check off seeing Hammerhead sharks from our bucket list too! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing experience with Cabo Private Guide in the spring. It was the highlight of our entire visit to Cabo. We got lucky that whales were busy mating nearby and spent hours watching them. It didn't hurt that we had an excellent guide that explained the history of Cabo and gave us plenty of information about the whales, answering any and all questions that we had. They also took us around the area and took photos of us with the Arch behind us, as one does in Cabo, as well as bringing us to a bunch of the key spots, explaining them. It was quite a bit of a hike from their office to their boat at the marina, but they used that time to converse with us about Cabo and entertain us on the way. read more

We reached out to quite a few local dive shops before booking our dives in Cabo. My partner and I are both AOW certified and had about 45 dives completed, but we've always prioritized diving with the right people as we get more practice as divers. I always try to find a highly recommended tour operator when it comes to diving -- going with someone who is experienced and puts guests' safety first is of utmost important when it comes to scuba diving. Through the Girls That Scuba group, we found Laura, who owns and operates Cabo Private Guide. A few months prior to our trip, we discussed via email the best options for our three day dive itinerary based on what we wanted to see and our experience and skill level. Communication was really easy and clear and I love being able to work out all of the details of a trip over email before we head out! Laura was very transparent with us from the beginning and managed our expectations for what we should expect diving Cabo in March. It's not peak season for the best visibility or large animal encounters, but we always prefer to know what to expect rather than be overpromised something we may not get to see. Over the course of our three day dive trip, we were lucky enough to basically have our own private boat and guide, Adrian, who briefed us on every dive site, pointed out animals to us underwater, and took videos for us to keep! Our original day 1 plan was to dive Cabo Pulmo, but because the conditions weren't favorable, we decided to stay local and dive two sites just off the coast of Cabo San Lucas. Again, appreciated the transparent communication from Laura to give us the best experience. Once she found out about the conditions in Cabo Pulmo, she emailed us and gave us options to alter our itinerary! Although on land it was quite warm, between 70-80°F, the water temperature was quite cool. 68°F at the surface and much cooler as you dive deeper. We ended up diving in 5 mm wetsuits and hoods -- crucial for staying warm! I even added a shortie on top of my wetsuit since I tend to get really cold. For Day 2, we were able to drive up to Cabo Pulmo to do the dives there. Adrian, our guide, gave us a really great background on the area and how it changed from a fishing village to eco-tourism to protect the marine ecosystem. What we saw in Cabo Pulmo was amazing. Huge schools of fish -- LARGE fish too! We got SUPER lucky on our first dive of the day. A school of cownose rays swam right past us as we were floating along the dive site. I nearly cried into my mask as I saw them glide by. We'd seen mantas and eagle rays in Komodo but never a school this huge! Along with the rays, we saw two huge sea turtles, schools of snappers, leopard groupers, broomstail groups, guitarfish, and moray eels, too! Both of our dives at Cabo Pulmo were super easy and peaceful, and it's now topped my list as an area we have to come back to in the future. Our last day, we dived Gordo Banks. This is an advanced dive and was probably the most difficult dive I've ever done. Laura and team require divers to go on another dive first before taking you out to Gordo Banks so they can evaluate whether your skill level is appropriate for this dive. Gordo Banks is a difficult dive because it's deep. We went down to the max depth allowed as AOW divers where there was little light, poor visibility, and you could barely see the reef below you. On our first dive, we heard the loud singing of one or two humpback whales. Although we couldn't see any whales due to the poor visibility, our guide thinks they were no more than 500 yards way from us based on how loud the singing was. It was an otherworldly experience I will never forget! On our second dive, we were able to see the reef below us and were surrounded by a school of snappers. I watched a yellowfin tuna hunt the school of snappers... truly amazing to see these predators on the hunt! The last part of our dive we saw a scalloped hammerhead's silhouette appear from the distance. We swam alongside it for a good minute before it disappeared into the darkness. Gordo Banks is great for chances to see pelagic creatures! Overall it seems like we got lucky on our 6 dives with Cabo Private Guide, but Laura and Adrian worked hard to give us the best experience and made us feel super comfortable and safe. We will definitely come back to dive with them again the next time we're in Cabo. You can easily book dive excursions with Laura's team on their website and I highly recommend diving with them if you're in the Cabo area. If you're not into diving but still want to encounter some sea creatures, they can also take you whale watching, snorkeling, and even swimming with whale sharks (we did this in Isla Mujeres and HIGHLY recommend it)! read more

This was one of best and easiest scuba diving companies I have ever worked with. I was originally looking into going diving with Baja Dive. They said that they were full but they highly recommended going with Cabo Private Guide and I couldn't be more happy that I did. I had many questions about some members of my group coming on board but not diving and one possibly doing a discovery dive. They were more than helpful in telling me the costs and how it would work. They were very flexible on the drive sites we went to as well. I wanted to do the San Juan Marine Park as well as the Corridor and we were able to do both. In addition to all of this because no other divers wanted to dive the day and time I went. I had a private boat and dive with Ana an amazing, knowledgeable, and nice dive guide at no extra charge to me. She had water and snacks for me on the boat and took care of all of my gear before, after and in between dives. A truly 5 star experience! Ana also took a ton of photos and videos of our drives on a GoPro which I was able to download all of included in my dive. This was all included in my two tank dive. I could not recommend this dive shop more! The next time I am in Cabo I will 1000% be going with Cabo Private Guide again. read more

Everything about diving with Cabo Private Guide was absolutely above and beyond from start to finish. From my first interaction with the shop over email, all the way up to the morning of our first dive, Laura and Cristina were incredibly communicative and helpful. Our driver, Eduardo was friendly, professional, and arrived on time. When we arrived to the shop, we felt really welcome and all the people there are friendly and cool--great vibe! We were super lucky to get Edgar as our dive guide, and even though I am sure everyone there is just as wonderful, we really loved Edgar! He is super knowledgable, thorough, friendly, fun, and took us on some amazing dives. We feel he really went above and beyond with a number of thoughtful details, including a keepsake video compilation of highlights from our two days of diving together. The captains of the boats were both fantastic too, although Capitán Alex is extra amazing and a super lovable character with 40+ years of diving experience himself. This was my first dive since COVID. I am Open Water certified, but forgot EVERYTHING I had learned 3 years ago. I decided to bring my father, niece and nephew, so that we could all get a refresher before our dive. My niece was VERY nervous, but Jenny did a GREAT job of answering all of her questions and calming her. And Brandon got some pretty amazing photos and videos. Could not have asked for a better experience than we had with Cabo Private Guide! We were in Cabo for a week and got to know Laura and her staff well over the 4 days that we went diving with Cabo Private Guide. It's a smaller shop, but that allowed for a more intimate and custom experience. During our trip, we had the pleasure of diving in Cabo San Lucas with Laura, Felipe, Dee, Jenny, and also took a phenomenal day trip to Cabo Pulmo with Antonio. Each dive was unique and memorable in it's own way. The guides are all fully bilingual in English and Spanish and know the area extremely well. I get the impression that Laura has recruited the A-Team with all the best instructors in the area. Highlights of the trip included a wreck dive, stingrays, octopus, sea lions, and a massive school of sardines. I finished the open water portion of my PADI certification with Felipe and he was an excellent instructor. He went above and beyond to explain the curriculum, and even some things that were not on the curriculum (like how to improve my kicking form and air management). I can't recommend this place enough. Laura was nice but failed at doing her job at the get go. She never checked that the BCD fit me correctly and it did NOT.  I had a BCD I could put both of my hands in between my waist and the band. (Pinkies along my waist and thumbs at the band with my hands held straight like I was doing a karate chop. As a result I couldn't balance in the water because any flow would move the tank from center to one side, because my body wasn't attached to the tank well enough, and as I would try to correct it, it would just move back and forth from one side to the other.  While I could use my hands to hold my BCD in place I was fine, but when actually swimming and using my arms as you are supposed to, especially in the ocean I would just rock back and forth.  She didn't believe me when I told her that I realized my BCD was too big (a few days into the lessons).  It was only later that I remembered that on my intro to scuba diving course (a year before) I had to wear a young adult BCD because the adult one was too big on me. On the multiple dives in the intro course I didn't have trouble balancing and it was calm and wonderful while scuba diving.  It was NOT calm or relaxing when I was being taught by her. read more

We went to La Paz and we did a boat tour of the beaches and Espiritu Santo Island. Laura during the booking process and Jenny during the excursion were just perfect, accommodating and super nice. We saw and swam with dolphins, sea lions and rays: it was a perfect day. On our way back to Cabo we stopped at Todos Santos upon our request and Jenny was so nice to accommodate this as well. We booked a trip to Espiritu Santo- We were supposed to be on a whale shark trip but the season was not open as the sharks were not here the beginning of Nov. Despite the disappointment, it was a fantastic day-Filipe our guide was wonderful- He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the environment, he went the extra mile to make sure this was a great day- We went to special places to see birds and wildlife that were very special for us and out of the way- Our boat captain, Fernando was also wonderful- really knew what he was doing- After snorkeling. they took us to a gorgeous beach for a fantastic lunch of ceviche that Fernando's wife made- This was a memorable fantastic day- Thank you!! read more

Two friends and I did a 3-dive private tour with Cabo Private Guide in mid August when we were in town for a friend's wedding. - Bring your own: towels! - Equipment: the dive guide first took us to be outfitted with 5mm wetsuits, as the water temperature was ~75-78 degrees. The 5mm wetsuits were a bit uncomfortable for the men in my group, but I (I'm a petite woman) had no issues. They also provided snorkels, BCD, tanks, fins, etc. - Boat: a boat captain, the dive guide, and the three of us were the only ones on the boat. The guide provided fruit and sandwiches as snacks on the boat for when we got hungry in between dives - Locations: we went to three dive locations, and the first was Pelican Rock. This was a reef dive, and we saw a sea lion swim right by us! Our second dive site was whales head, and this one was a bit unpleasant - it was a sandy bottom / ocean floor dive, and visibility was quite poor. We didn't see much on this dive, and the dive was also very cold The third dive - I skipped this one as I was feeling the effects of the chill from the second, but the third we went back to the Pelican Rock area, and the dive started at around 80 feet and circled back up. It was the coldest dive of the three, so I'm glad I skipped it. I'm glad I did too, because I saw THREE flying mantas suddenly leap out of the water and into the air! I was shocked, I'd never seen mantas do that before. Apparently, this is quite unique, as flying mantas are unique to the Cabo region. The dive guide helped us switch out our tanks which was nice, so we could relax when we were not actively diving. Overall an enjoyable experience, and I'm glad I tried diving in Cabo! read more

My group of three took the advanced open water course with Felipe and we had a great time, learned a lot, and felt so much more confident in our diving afterwards! The shop was easy to work with and accommodating to our dates. We added on a day of fun diving to Gordo Banks and had a lot of fun using our new skills out in the open water. I'm a conservationist and I'm very careful where I book wildlife/nature excursions - not all outdoor adventure outfits are eco-friendly or respectful of the environment. Setting up our dives was easy. I could have done it all on line, but I had specific questions due to my short stay in Cabo so I called and spoke with Laura. Laura was very helpful in selecting our dive trip based upon the skill level of my wife and I as well as our timetable for our short visit to Cabo San Lucas. We settled on the Corridor 3-tank dive and it was the right choice for us. Based on where we were staying, Laura also arranged for a car to pick us up at our resort and take us back - excellent service door to door. Felipe was an awesome guide. He knew the best sites to dive, given the conditions and was extremely attentive to anything me and my wife needed during the dives and onboard the boat. He was excellent at pointing out interesting fish, formations and sand falls and guiding us throughout the 3 dives. He also provided tips to improve our diving skills with each subsequent dive. Carlos was a wonderful boat captain and although she was not our guide, I observed Ana as she was the instructor for an advanced diver student - she was also excellent. I learnt scuba diving with Cabo Private guide and brought my friend to explore this certificated scuba dive with the shop. AMAZING way to start the new year. Our guide is passionate about everything here and very knowledgeable, she not only took us to see the sand fall, the groupers group, varies type of Ray (include mobula jump) and garden eels but also explained the reasonings behind these phenomena/behaviors. Husband and I did a private snorkeling tour. Tour was great. Loved it was just us and we saw whales, tons of fish, starfish etc. water was clear. The bad was they said they would have water for us. I was very surprised that the water was not bottled but tap in reusable water bottles......so we both drank the water and it was bad tasting. I knew it was tap. I was thirsty so I drank some but was very disappointed. I would have brought my own if I'd known. Both my husband and I got sick after and are still sick. We were so careful the whole trip about the water and for this to happen when it didn't need too. Bottled water should be provided! read more

I spent three days in early June completing seven dives with Cabo Private Guide. Laura helped me establish an itinerary that worked with my schedule, giving me the variety and adventure I was looking for. After arriving at the airport Friday afternoon, I called Laura to let her know I was on my way. I came just before the shop closed and met her and Felipe, who would be my guide for the rest of the trip. Felipe fitted me with a wetsuit and BCD, checked the gear I brought, and arranged to meet me in the morning to start diving. Saturday's check-in was quick and efficient. Felipe brought Brandon, a DM in training, along to help with the gear. We had excellent dives off Pelican Rock, Neptune's Finger, and North Wall. After arriving at the shop, we arranged to meet at 6 AM the following day to drive to La Ventana to dive at Isla Cerralvo in the Sea of Cortez. Sunday morning before 6 AM, Felipe messaged me, letting me know he was 15 minutes late because of car trouble. This communication was greatly appreciated! He and the driver, Eduardo, arrived just before 6:15, and we were off! We stopped at a little restaurant they knew north of San Jose del Cabo to pick up breakfast. The burrito was good, but the shrimp empanadas were so tasty! In La Ventana, we met Captain Fausto, who helped us load our gear, and we were in the water within minutes of arriving. We encountered a large pod of dolphins on the water and jumped in to swim with them. Although they didn't stick around, we could hear them clicking nearby. A little while later, we arrived at the La Reinita but decided to push onto La Reina because the conditions looked pretty good. There was concern that the wind would pick up in the afternoon at La Reina, so it would be better to do that first. La Reina was a GREAT dive! There was so much aquatic life, interesting geography, and the remains of a shipwreck! We sailed back to La Reinita for an excellent wall dive with even more sea life than La Reina. I felt completely safe with Cabo Private Guide's Felipe, their driver Eduardo, and Captain Fausto as a solo traveler. Monday morning, I met Felipe at the shop in Cabo San Lucas at 7:45 AM and shared the boat with a couple from Colorado who were finishing their OW certification. I've been diving for 30 years and have seen plenty of OW certification dives and can attest that CPG earns their PADI 5 Star rating. The instructor teaching the couple was patient, thorough, and encouraging - all good signs. Felipe and I splashed into the Blowhole, then headed over to Lands End but decided not to dive due to unsafe conditions, so we went back to Pelican Rock for a pleasant and relaxing cruise. After the dive, Felipe offered to rinse and hold my gear overnight to let it dry in their shop because my hotel had no facilities to handle that equipment overnight securely. Cabo Private Guide provided an experience that exceeded every expectation I had and I am sure they will for you too. We were paired with Antonio, a PADI instructor, for the week to be our personal guide. We dove every day for 6 days and got our advanced open water certification (we had just got open water certified a couple months prior with only a couple dives since). Antonio, Laura and the entire Cabo Private Guide team were great and super flexible to make sure we had an amazing experience and always focused on safe diving. Highlights of our trip were: Cabo Pulmo, diving with bull sharks and pristine reefs full of life. Gordo Banks diving deep in challenging currents but spotting a couple hammerheads and then hanging out in the blue with some silky sharks. The local dives in the bay and corridor area were also great. During our advanced open water training deep dive my 18 year old daughter panicked at about 80 feet looking over the edge of the drop off at the canyon wall. She wanted to ascend. Antonio calmed her but we had to abort the dive, do our safety stop and return to the surface. My daughter really wanted to try again, but was worried if she could do it and it was really getting to her head. I called Laura to see what our options were and she volunteered to dive with us the next day, try the deep dive again, and see if a woman instructor might make a difference. While Antonio took my son and I down to 100 feet, Laura worked with my daughter. The switch clicked for her and she was good. She quickly joined us to complete the skills at depth. I don't know what magic Laura did, but it worked! The rest of the trip she was super confident and had no problems at depth, even in the challenging currents at Gordo Banks. My daughter was inspired by Laura. She loved that a woman was running a dive business and now wants to look into being a divemaster. Thank you Cabo Private Guide for an amazing week of diving!!! This was a truly wonderful experience. The private boat is definitely the way to go and to get the best experience possible. First the booking was super easy. We booked online. Then did our waiver online. The driver that came to pick us up was on time. When we got to the store, since everything was taken care of we were pretty much ready to go. Pablo was our guide and Angel was our boat driver. We went to two sites. Chilleno Bay and Santa Maria. Both spectacular sites. Pablo gave us all of the history and background on Cabo. And the best part of the trip was that we saw a Mamma Whale and her baby on the trip. Once Angel and Pablo spotted the whales we went full throttle out to go see the whales and it was just the best treat at the end of the snorkel. We had fresh fruit on the trip and some snacks also so don't worry about going hungry or anything like that. They take good care of you on the boat. read more

We had the most amazing 3 tank dive trip with this team with Antonio as our guide and Capt. Angel. We went to Whale's Head, Chileno, and Pelican Rock. It was an epic day, Antonio (and I am sure the entire team) is highly skilled and knowledgeable on the sites and marine life, professional, friendly. We could not have picked a better team with Cabo Private Guide team. It was so refreshing to not be on a huge touristy boat with tons of people, especially during these covid times. Private, personal, customizable. Really nice gear/equipment for rental too, which is comforting and safe. Schools of fish, rays, morays, beautiful corals were seen with all the fish. Antonio was attentive to point out the schools of fish and little hidden blennies. Pictures came out amazing, thanks for the fantastic day and memories forever, y'all! Great communication in advance, very professional and fun certification, experienced and very helpful instructors, very good equipment and amazing dive sites with tons of different fish.
