The worst insensitive human being I have EVER come across!!!! Blading guy in his 50s that wore glasses. Tore my son down for bringing in cards that didn't meet his standards. Made my son feel completely embarrassed and made him cry. 10 years old doesn't understand the value and conditions of cards. And we don't know either so we took him to a store to figure it out. You are truly a human being that should find compassion especially to children. I have never seen my son so upset. You could have simply gotten on his level and said "hey buddy we can't buy your cards but there are other places that might be able to take them" instead he said "you see this hole, why would you try and sell this? It's worth nothing." And "if you got these cards in the mail would you be happy with the condition?" Thank you for tearing my 10 year old into pieces!!! All he was trying to do was learn about cards and find ways on how to make money. I would give this place a zero. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! They don't know real customer service. Plus we drove 20 miles just to get here. Out of our way to support our child. read more

My review is specifically for the Magic the Gathering aspect of the store: I have been going to this store off and on for 16 years and I have seen the negative direction this business is headed. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. First off, this is a cheaters paradise- the MTG FNM draft is a joke considering people don't play by the rules. Most people will stack their deck. Plus, the player quality is poor- those who go to this shop tend to stay in their limited frame by what others around them are doing. If you want to improve your game- this is not the place to do it! Second, the place always has a nasty odor on busy nights. Third, Avrom pays little money for MTG cards and will gladly rip off even the longest-committed customers without remorse. DO NOT SELL YOUR CARDS HERE!!!!! Forth (and probably the most important), there is no regard for a 'MTG community'. The owner, Avrom, has banned people for selling cards or getting in the way of his trading. Some of these people were faces of the store and brought people in- when they were banned, others have left as well. Moreover, he used to have the building next store open (which is now a warehouse for his online card business) as a tournament center but he closed it to focus on internet profit. Avrom is probably THE GREEDIEST card store owner in northern California. Its pretty bad when pros such as LSV, Shahar Shenhar, and others used to play here (years ago) but don't anymore. Over the years, Avrom has made a series of poor business decisions and now the store is scummy. I do not suggest anyone goes here to play or sell Magic cards, there are better stores in the area such as Big Brother, Great Escape, and A-1 Comics (Roseville). read more

Best place to get singles. Don't know why some people complain about their prices on singles cause so far they have the best deals in town. Also, friendliest staff at any comic book store I've been too, and I've been to most in town. Definitely a nice change from the classic "know-it-all greasy haired nerds that work at most of the others. Yes the place smells like BO and if ur a chick prepare to be stared at. But hey that just goes with the territory. Most of these guys don't have much of a "real" life. They could invest in some kind of smell good stuff. Oh and stop charging to play magic! i would say this shop focuses more so on the collectible card game side of things rather than the comics. though they certainly do have a nice selection of comics. the store is very well organized for something that looks so ghetto. they print out a monthly calendar of all their events, ranging from magic the gathering to pokemon to yugioh. they also have a very cool setup for buying singles. you use in store computers to create an order list and an employee will gather up all the cards for you (they also do the same for selling cards to the store). the store is very small yet they some how manage to cram in four rows of tables to play on. there's always enough space to play. my only complaint is that it does get a little warm at times in the store, but the workers are usually pretty good about turning on the air conditioner. i would describe the usual set of players here as being more advanced. there's a pretty good number of regulars; they're all really friendly and never hesitate to help another person out. overall, a great shop in the sacramento area. if you're preparing for more serious magic playing, i would greatly recommend this shop. read more

Really good selection of Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but the whole decks can get really pricey which makes me sad :o but they're in excellent condition, which is always worth the price. The downside is that they should have some beginner tournaments for Magic: The Gathering, because it seems really fun and learning how to play is something I know a lot of gamers would like to do :) read more

Where to begin? I play Magic: The Gathering, and often have deck ideas that require me to purchase cards to complete. Finding what you need is not a problem. Asking the staff questions and getting answers is not a problem either. What I do have a problem with is the people that hang out / play Magic here. Sure, I like to play casual and have fun at the same time. I have constructed decks that I play. I also like to participate in the draft tournament every now and then, usually at home with friends. On the occasion that I have been to Adventures to play a draft tournament, it starts as 25 - 30 people. Once the "drafting" is over, that number goes down to 15 - 20 people. There are usually those that are there to get the packs, open, and take the rare cards that come inside. At times, they will get someone that is not playing a certain color or has no need for the rare that came in the pack...so they pass. When this happens and everyone is done, those that get cards pick them up and leave. This is what makes me mad beyond anything else. It takes 4+ hours to play what should only take 1/2 that time. LONG STORY SHORT - If you are looking for a good Magic:The Gathering environment, try A-1 Comics on Auburn Blvd. (or their Roseville store on Sunrise) you will have a better experience. read more

Anton was very friendly towards my girlfriend and I, and very insightful. I'm from out of town and needed a quick comic fix. I walked in and was greeted right away by the dude working here. First impression it seems like they are more focused on card games than comics. With a small selection of currents and an interesting collection of some random issues, it was kind of hard to find something I actually wanted. So look closely and thoroughly and you might find something that will make your trip worth it, I did anyhow. And they are open late which is pretty sweet. read more

Sold cards to AdventuresON in a buy list order for Magic cards in March 2017. Still waiting for payment. They were normally slow to begin with, usually around a month to pay. It's July now and still no payment. I've contacted the store several times and get a new excuse each time. The store owner even chimed in. Now they simply ignore my messages. Extremely poor customer service. This store is the brick and mortar attachment to www.adventureson.com. When I placed an order with their website, I asked for a very reasonable request: I wished to pick up my item in person, instead of having it mailed since I live only 10 miles away and was leaving town for an extended time. I even wrote to their customer service, and have received no response four days later. A clerk at the store couldn't assist me, even though their warehouse was merely feet away. It would have taken less than 10 minutes to accommodate my request, yet no one bothered to lift a finger. Will absolutely not patronize again. Recommend hobbyists try Big Brother in Midtown or Great Escape on Howe. read more

Stopped by to pick up some Magazine bags. Stood in line behind 2 other customers while 3 employees (1 wearing headphones and dancing) dug through several boxes of cards. No greeting, no "we'll be right with you", NO ONE ON A REGISTER TO TAKE MONEY. Bad experience, bad customer service. I've just recently gotten into board games and have been curious about D&D for years. After watching Tabletop on Geekandsundry channel on YouTube with Wil Wheaton, I decided to go look for a few games and feed my inner nerd self. This spot is right down the street from my house and full of great games (20% off this month!), and a very friendly group of staff. I've been back 3 times in the last few weeks, and have enjoyed the atmosphere and gleaning info from Anton and others staff members. Just got done with my first visit here. Came in wanting to learn more about D&D, left with the knowledge I needed as well as a good benchmark for the price. The only reason I'm taking off a star is because the store felt very dirty. Not somewhere i would feel like spending more time than needed. With that said, a good remodel nd this place is up to five stars. I love this place like you would not believe. I am more into the comics than the gaming which is huge here since they play until 10 at night and later at times I hear. The selection of comics is a little slimmer than I would like but they can order your favorites and have them waiting like any other comic shop. They en have some decent back issues and a few decent collectible variants and classic issues. The parking sucks since they are right near this crap mini mart but it is a great place for the gamers and comic aficionados alike. Thy have a monthly calendar for some of their deals and game competition schedule. You guys rock as a neighborhood comic spot. read more

Took my son here to play a Pokemon tournament - we had a great experience. Avrom, the owner, responded to my initial email quickly, with all the info I needed as a newbie mom. It would have been more appropriate to take my 6 year old son to a League game than a tournament (as Avrom advised, but he welcomed him anyway). To my surprise the Tournament was full of adult players (mostly young guys), but they were very easy-going and played with with my son without complaining. They helped him along and taught him a few tricks, and were patient with his fumbling little hands. Matthew, the associate on duty, was very friendly and helpful, and guided us through the Tournament so we knew what was going on. The place was not stinky, and the guys did not gawk at me or any of the other ladies who came in. There were about 20 people there playing Pokemon or other games, they were all having a great time, it didn't look overly competitive to me, and I didn't hear any foul language that would make me cringe with my 6-year old in tow. It seems that most the reviews seem to focus on the Magic the Gathering (MtG) playing side and the customers rather than the store itself and what it has to offer. The staff and owner are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable in all that they sell at the store. If the person is not on duty who specializes in what it is you seek, they are more than happy to point you to whom and when the person you'd be helped by most will be in. While the selection in store varies based on the limited amount of floor space available at the location, the employees are more than happy to help fill any special order needs in a timely manner (This pertains to any and all merchandise available to the store, including stock not normally kept on display for unique interests). The gaming table area in the front is usually full during the late days or early evenings from MtG players or D&D players alike. While it seems that there is limited space for some of the tournaments held, they have a large space next door specifically meant for the excess amount of people. The players can be a little overly zealous at times, but most of that has to do with enthusiasm and the competitive spirit found in most tournaments. During non-tournament times, many of the players are more than happy to help out people who are new to the gaming experience or even veterans in tweaking their decks for optimum efficiency. The staff can always be found amongst the players during their times off, even helping out the store in their off hours when necessary. All in all, a good place to hang out with friends or make new ones, and an even better place to find help or answers no matter what it is you need. read more

Owner, sitting at the computer the whole time, told us having s 25 cent box was a waste of time, that comic shops didn't do that, and that we should check Goodwill. We'd been to three comic stores already that did, since we're stocking up for my stepson's summer reading. We won't be going there again. read more

Prices were a little on the expensive side, but still a great little store for comics fans. They seemed to focus more on collectible games, like D&D, than comics themselves, but they had friendly service,and a good variety of merchandise all around. read more

i had been going to this store for many years, but was extremely disappointed by how i was treated by management today. i made a deal with the store manager, only to have it overturned by the owner several minutes later. the experience was negative and offended me greatly. i do not plan on visiting this store again. i should add that the owner offended a long time loyal customer in order to save himself 15 dollars. the store manager made a normal deal with me for cards that usually are not popular, and then a few minutes later the owner had me give the cards back because he felt fifteen dollars was worth it in order to destroy a long standing relationship. i usually spend hundreds and hundreds with his store every year. but apparently it did not matter. read more
