Kathy listened to exactly what I wanted and told me I needed about 2 inches cut off, which I think was completely reasonable, especially after seeing the state of my ends. She did give me a price when I called, but unfortunately I forgot to mention that I have VERY VERY...VERY thick and full hair. So the price went up a little, but honestly, it was still reasonable, and that was totally my fault for not mentioning it beforehand. My hair literally ended up breaking one of her combs because of how thick it is . She was so surprised and just laughed about it, which honestly made me feel really comfortable. She also gave me a few suggestions for the future and was just really cool and fun to talk to. Good vibes all around. I'm happy with how it turned out and would and am definitely coming back! Both Kim and Trish did my nails, and they are both very cool people! We got to know each other and talked about so many different things, so honestly it was fun just hanging out with them. Lol Kim gave me a rundown of what she suggested for my nails, and I'm really happy I listened to her because she knew what she was talking about. She was also very attentive throughout the whole process. You know how sometimes you go to different salons and you feel like you can't really say anything because the energy is just off, everything feels rushed, and you're scared to speak up if you don't like something?...I felt the complete opposite here. Kim made me feel comfortable enough to say, "You know what, I don't really like that," without worrying that she was going to give me an attitude or somehow tell me that my finger was the problem. LMAO That honestly made a huge difference for me. I felt listened to, comfortable, and like they actually cared about making sure I was happy with my nails. Both Kim and Trish were great, and I really enjoyed my time with them! My only "complaint" would have been that when I started looking for colors the variety was limited at that point in time. Drove all the way from Monrovia to Yorba Linda and walked in at 10:55am and was told due to a glitch in the system, was told she was behind and asked if I could come back at 12:30pm because she had two other clients ahead of me. A 10-30 mins wait, I would've understood, but an 1.5 hours wait WITH an appointment is straight up unacceptable and the fact that I had both an email AND phone number on file but they failed to provide me with a call was very unprofessional. She asked if I wanted to wait and I obviously couldn't due to the fact that I needed to bring my daughter to her volleyball game in an hour and for her to act surprised I asked to cancel instead of rescheduling is a joke to me. The most outrageous thing was when I looked up behind Kelsea and saw an older, short "hair stylist"looking at me with this smirk on her face. Was it funny that the lack of respect of their customers' time humorous to her? I haven't checked out other reviews yet but since this is the THIRD time from personal experience that they blame overbooking due to a "system glitch" in 12 months, I am starting to think this is possibly how they run their business. I hate having to leave negative reviews for businesses but they've definitely earned the worst experience I've ever had.

We decided to check it out the front desk receptionists was very courteous and helpful. CMR opted for a haircut, which I don't particularly enjoy as I am fond of his long hair. Sadly this is a ritual he follows every few years after his hair grows out he cuts it all out. Given CMR's wavy hair with considerable volume, we seek out professionals experienced in handling diverse hair types. This being our 1st visit, I was impressed with the exceptional service provided by JC. The ambiance is relaxed, reminiscent of the classic ICONIC Marlboro Man style. Although Hammer & Nails is approximately 30 minutes from our house, I anticipate CMR will be making the trip to visit JC's skilled hair services.

I first found Hammer and Nails in my hometown of Brea purely by happenstance (and in effort to find another place for a good haircut, perhaps dabble in pedicures, besides Sport Clips). Curiosity drew me into this establishment, but by golly, it was the experience that had me stay until I eventually couldn't. From the moment I first walked in, I was blown away by the aesthetic-- definitely tailored towards guys. What's more, for my first visit, was offered a complimentary beverage (my go-to was always a woodford reserve whiskey on the rocks-- puts one at ease during a nice cut). Be it a haircut, a mani-pedi (shoutout to the Jack Hammer combo) or even a simple facial treatment, this place rocks in terms of quality, service and attention to detail. Add to that some TVs to view your shows (shoutout to the mani-pedi crew; I remember at one point you were even offered headphones to listen to TV while getting work done), and this place is worth its weight in gold in terms of what they charge (even if the memberships had a slight increase in price during my time there). In fact, it was so good that I even brought my girlfriend along for her mani-pedi (she absolutely loved it). Definitely put a smile on my face. If I did have to criticize one thing about Hammer and Nails, it wouldn't be about this location (to be fair, I always scheduled my appointments here), but about the availability of locations in general. The memberships provided are perfect (if a bit costly) in what they provide-- if you are to remain in SoCal (or just so happen to cross paths with a location across the nation). Unfortunately, it is with this critique that I had to cancel my membership; while the service is stellar, and the membership transferable for use across the nation for any of the brand's locations, there is simply no presence of the brand in MN at the time of writing. Had there been, I may have kept my membership indefinitely. A weakness to be sure, but a testament to the brand's potential overall.
