My time was divided…read morebetween sitting in extremely uncomfortable chair and being led on hikes around the maze of back rooms for testing. I observed that this system is new to me. Telling patients to hike to tests rather than testing coming to sick people or offering transport. I was told that I need to get used to the system as it is. I saw caregivers scrambling to find an empty wheelchair and following occupied chairs in order to take the chair for someone else asap. The worst part though is being treated like a problem or number. I was seldom able to make eye contact with anyone. The young man who drew blood for lab did though. It was an oasis of humanity in a department seemingly run by droids. I got no answers. I got no help. After 5-6 hours it was almost dark. Another older lady who had come just after me, had to leave to drive back to Sonora. My sister and I had to leave because of the chairs and the oncoming darkness. We would have driven home after dark, even though that's not best for us, if they had allowed us to wait in our car. We both have phones and could easily receive a text. I was told that, "They won't do that." We finally had to give up and go home. I didn't receive any help from my usual doctor until 5 days later. I looked up my patient record on the Mercy site. The nurse charted that I was uncooperative and angry. I was angry. It's just left hanging, you know, the reasons that might be the case. I was told that my written lab and X-ray results wouldn't be given to me, since I was leaving without seeing a doctor. I wish I could have seen a doctor. Since no provision would be made for minimal comfort measures, I didn't fit in their system, therefore I was a troublemaker. I saw several other people who were injured, bleeding, writhing with pain, who waited with no attention, no ice pack, no wrap for bleeding wounds. One elderly woman who could not keep still was holding her obviously deformed and bleeding hand, sat alone for 15-20 minutes before the triage attendant brought an ice pack and towel. The woman was crying and so grateful. She was alone. The young woman who brought her left without a word. There were many there who seemed to need more urgent help than I did. I was very weak and needed help, as it turned out with good reason. I learned that I cannot ever expect to get care or help in that ED.

Making an appointment gets nowhere on the portal OR calling their appointment line is the worst. I just spent 16 long minutes on hold. Hung up and decided to call back in to see if that would help. I am currently writing this while on hold for the second time. It has now been 26 minutes on hold! Once in a while it sounds like someone is picking up the line and then I hear a "beep, beep" and I am put back on hold again. Well, now it has been 32 minutes on hold and THAT is Golden Valley Health Centers. Just what the heck are the appointment people doing, it is definitely NOT their job!

I kept getting denied by my insurance. My insurance kept requesting more info for the MRI. The NP D. Huizar I had seen never called my insurance to do a Dr to Dr call to get my MRI approved. I went to the office twice when rejection letters from insurance were received. The letters specified the info they needed and for my medical office to call them. I even wrote up a list of meds and dates seen for my medical issue to help her when she was to speak to insurance. She still hasn't called and now insurance has cancelled all mri requests for my issue and I have to start all over again. The front office staff had a hard time scanning my documents to be put in my file, she wasn't loading pages correctly. This place is not worth going to.

I was a patient with MFA for twenty years. My doctor retired and I was transferred to another…read morephysician. Every year I would receive a notice from the new doctor to come in for a Medicare Wellness test, conducted by a nurse. I was fortunate and had no immediate need for an illness until a few months ago. I called when I was having serious trouble breathing, had a high temp and was coughing up something ugly. I was told the doctor was busy and couldn't see me for over a week to go to an urgent care facility. I did but the urgent care PA said that there was a cough going around and to take some cough medicine, which I did. A few days later I was dramatically worse and went to the ER where my double (bilateral) pneumonia was diagnosed. I was given inhalation therapy along with anti-biotics by the ER after a chest scan and blood work. When I was discharged I was instructed to get back to my primary care physician immediately. I called MFA for an appointment, explained my situation and was told my doctor was out for a number of days. I asked to be seen by another MFA physician and was told that wasn't going to happen. I asked the purpose of an "Association" of physicians if one didn't cover for another and was just blown off. The hospital ER staff called me and wanted to know if I had followed up with my Primary doctor and not to wait any further. My wife called her doctor (a solo practice physician) and I was seen there immediately as he stayed after his normal hours to fit me in. I explained this to MFA via the patient portal and MFA blocked my future access to my past medical records there via my portal. Probably the best thing that could happen, I now have a physician that places my health as a priority.

I accidentally scheduled my blood test here instead of the planned parenthood in modesto, but I…read moredecided to go here anyway. The ladies were nice, but incredibly unorganized. I couldn't tell if they were understaffed, slow, or just didn't know what they were doing. When they went to draw blood, it seemed like they were having difficulties. i'm normally a hard poke, but they ended up sticking me four times before they could collect a decent amount of blood. And before that, they had tried squeezing blood out of where they poked me and scraping it into the vial. It was not a good experience. And it only got worse, because somehow my blood sample was lost or misplaced and I had to go back in to give another sample. The second time they also had difficulty sticking me, but they were able to get the sample. What drove me to make this review was that I got my test results back, and they were wrong. They had used the wrong reference levels to compare my results to, and now the result shows that one of my hormones is too high, despite it being low for the correct range. When I go for testing, I expect professionalism and accuracy, neither of which I got. So I will not be going back to merced planned parenthood again.
