He radically invaded my pleural cavity using a chest spreader breaking 3 ribs, and didn't evacuate all the bacterial infected fluid. There was NO pain management addressed after I was released, as well as NO proper antibiotic management (He prescribed a Z-Pack!!) So, recovering back in Las Vegas, the bacterial infection came back! (Shocker!) and I luckily had a strong and reputable team here at Dignity Hospital perform the surgery with robotic arms, and they flushed the area properly, which should have been done by Canvasser! Also, the team kept me on a 30-day, PICC line IV administered powerful antibiotic to assure the bacteria was eliminated. Wow... I could have died, if left alone and not treated again. Shame on the surgeon, shame on the lack of attention to getting the proper antibiotics administered and releasing me without a plan of follow up. Wow!

There are also issues with complex patient needs and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements don't even begin to keep up with these needs. It is reflected in the quality of food, staff shortages, and the spaces for rehabilitation as well as the amount of time available for this. I saw many staff doing their best. The building, is old, many are, and this is not ideal. There are amenities that just are not available. I'm grateful for staff that thought outside the box to make my husband feel cared for, safe and capable of working to recover his strength.

All of the staff have been available, knowledgeable, and willing to listen to me as I explained how to best serve my mother. I did not get lip service, I did not get rolled eyes. And when I showed up unannounced, my mother was being cared for very well. They did a great job identifying her needs and providing all of the appropriate specialists. It was clear that their goal was to get her well enough to go home. They did a wonderful job. I would not hesitate to send a family member there or to go there myself should I need such a facility.

Melody is a miracle worker. She takes a personal interest in her patients and does everything possible to help them improve. She is phenomenal. I asked "when am I getting discharged" because everyone around me was, and everyday it was something new. They never asked just assumed that did decisions based on stupidity. I don't know how asking equates that i want to be discharged. I mean getting woken up by a needle drawing blood at 7am is not ideal especially after a stroke. They can explain things. I got discharged with the promise of help and to go somewhere afterwards. That's when the hell really happened. I received no help, fought to go elsewhere, I even got dropped once by a nurse, but even then the nurses would make you feel bad talking about "I have to do so much paperwork", there were some cool nurses but there was some who constantly talked about their issues like get some help and therapy. Upon getting discharged I was lied, left in the dark, let down by this system and hospital. I can forgive for my sanity but I'll never forget. I'm beyond angry at this place, I'm hurt & talking about my treatment here I not only let it out, but I warn others and hope that things place changes and stops lying to their patients and their families.

A neighbor of mine had a stroke and was placed here for care. I visited him and found that the rooms in skilled nursing appeared to be clean and comfortable. And the staff were kind and compassionate. I think I would have benefited from staying here for a few days after my surgery in June of 2014. I wasn't doing all that well at home by myself.

What made me reach out was receiving a bill from them for $400.00 six days before my one year anniversary of sobriety, a little anniversary present for me...so bad.
