Now my property is flagged as requiring "occupancy review" which was done once already last year and by the way they only do on weekdays during business hours so I had to pay a plumber emergency rates to winterize my property and the new tenants move in date. Complete bullsh*t. How dare they cost me money, possible extensive damage to my property, cause my tenants to have to find someplace to stay and essentially punish both me an my new tenants for some minor amount of money that they might miss out on that we have absolutely no control over. A few years ago, I took a vacation to the Dominican Republic. The country is beautiful; however, my one complaint was that the water wasn't properly purified, which left a person not feeling well. Living in Ohio, one would think that--like most of America--the electricity is secure and you wouldn't have to worry about frequent power outages, you know, like in third-world countries. Well, AEP has proven that you can live in the U.S. and in a third-world country simultaneously. The electricity in Columbus, Ohio is not secure. I even overheard a pharmacist at CVS complaining about the frequent electrical outages. You know, that sound of a boom, followed by your electricity flickering off and on. Somehow, I thought Republican leaders were about efficiency and keeping things running smoothly. Yet, the Republican governor of Ohio--despite overseeing legislation that affects Columbus--can't seem to ensure that electricity in the city is secure and reliable. Oh, AEP. I remember when you were Columbus Southern Power. You weren't great then. You're worse now. Service sucks. Prices suck. My current experience with you has been for the last 10 years. Every single month you screw up our bill. You take a reading and send a bill, but before it gets to us you take another reading, for $10 or $15 more, and then send a disconnect notice because we haven't paid the total amount. Sometimes we get the notice before we get the original bill. Sometimes you disconnect our power before we get the bill. Every month we have to log on around the time we think you are doing an extra reading. Repeated calls, talking to managers, makes no difference. Everyone in Central Ohio has experienced your suckiness recently, with repeated power outages for no reason. I understand things going out during storms. I don't understand you cutting power when things are fine. With no notice, spoiling food, making kids cry, threatening the health of people with medical issues who depend on that electricity. Our most recent issue comes after we installed solar panels, trying to get some independence from you. For a month you have failed to update our meter, and repeatedly messed up our billing records. But, there are no other options. This is why monopolies are bad. This is why people are trying to get off the grid. Good choice not to march in the Pride Parade, since you knew people would just boo you. read more

Horrible service - AEP now not only charged a deposit of 375.00 if your bill has been late but also charges you a late charge if your bill is late. Rude and Nasty people to speak to when I called. The power goes out constantly here. Not only do they charge outrageous prices, but it takes them at least 8-24 hours to get power back on. There's never an apology and they consistently take hours to get it resolved. This company is the worst. I've never seen anyone take so long to restore power in 2022 from a small 5 minute ohio storm. I have been dealing with a billing issue with AEP for over 4 months!! Such a terrible experience and poor customer experience and service. When you call it takes FOREVER to get to someone who then is incompetent and usually has to transfer you. This is a terrible company with a very dissatisfied customer. If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. Not because of my electric service but because of my recent experience with them. I use bill pay thru my bank account and on the 30th of last month, I decided to start paying my car payment with this Bill Pay system. Set up VW as a payee then promptly (somehow) sent a $500 payment to AEP. Didn't even realize it until several days later when I went online to pay my AEP bill (early, as usual) and saw that I had sent them my car payment and now had a credit of $500 on my acct. I owed them NO money at this time. I pay my bill early every month. After fixing the issue with VW (paying my car payment again), I immediately called AEP. I was told that since it was the weekend, they couldn't put a refund thru but that they would on Monday. They contacted us and said they needed bank statements showing our payments to them (as if we haven't been paying) I provided them with EVERY bank document requested and they gave me the runaround all this week. Every time we faxed them what they asked for, it wasn't good enough. AEP came up with every excuse they could for refusing to refund my money. Again, when I accidentally sent this payment, I had a ZERO balance with AEP. I could almost understand if I owed them money but this was absolutely ridiculous. Today, I got sick of being told that I can't have my money back so I called my bank (who was already involved). My bank called them while I was on hold then informed me that they would be issuing a refund. I guess they couldn't deny it when my bank itself provided the info they said they needed. I have lived in Cbus for four years now and had the same AEP service this whole time. I've never paid a bill late and usually pay before they're even posted. This is a disgusting way to treat paying customers. If I had another option for electrify, AEP would never get another penny of mine. read more

Horrible customer service. I live in a 1 bed 1 bath apartment and pay on average 50-65$ a month for my electric bill. But this month AEP decided to not only charge me my 63$ bill, but to DOUBLE charge me, 166$!!! For an electric bill!!!! I called to get my refund and the lady told me "I can't promise a refund. We don't always give refunds back" HOW RIDICULOUS DOES THAT SOUND TO YOU!? And not only that, she told me I won't hear back from anyone in regards to if I'll be getting my refund back or not until MONDAY. It's FRIDAY. Horrible customer service. Wish I could give 0 stars. We had a terrible experience with AEP. They attempted to shut out power off twice for failure of payment, (when my online balance says 0.00) THEN every time I called regarding the notices my account had somehow been closed. They shut my electric off while I was at work today (again, no payment was due) and the rep I had spoke to said I would need to AGAIN, for the third time in the two months I have lived here, create a new account, I had asked to speak to a supervisor and I was connected to a woman named DORTHY. She was absolutely wonderful!!!!! She was able to transfer all my payments to the one account (because at this point I had two separate accounts because of terrible customer service reps) AND she was able to get someone out here to turn our electric back on at 10pm!!! This business is scam they tell you that the employees will be get paid $500 a week but in reality they don't pay nothing but $20 dollars per sale of electric and 15 for gas an if your lucky to get a sale then it might jump up a little more. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I moved and had to set up new service. I set it up, and was informed there was a deposit, which I though was going to be sent to be in form of an actual bill. So I called on August 4th and spoke with a very customer friendly woman, however she did not tell me I needed a deposit that still needed to be paid; it was about a week later. I then had to call today due to my electricity being shut off and spoke with a very rude and sarcastic woman named Amanda who was not helpful and told me my power would be out until the next business day and there was nothing they could do about it (mind you I have a small child and a full refrigerator) even after I paid the deposit; and would've paid the deposit had I known I still had to on August 4th. I then attempted to call back to speak with a supervisor, spoke with a very customer friendly man who sent me to a "supervisor" named Julie that answered the phone "This is Julie" in a rude and again sarcastic tone. She stated the only thing she could do was review the call and discuss it with her and that was that. Julie did not apologize and reassure me that customers come first or put me at ease whatsoever.
