The best dental care in my 74 years. Every complicated procedure is explained to me beforehand from…read moreroot canals to crowns. I can recommend the quality of the care I have received at Dr. Miller's practice. If and when I have to schedule a procedure done besides my regular cleaning the front office informs me of the cost so there are no surprises afterwards. Many years ago, I broke my front tooth off in an accident on a Friday. My regular dentist at that time would not see me until the nest week, I called Dr. Miller. He worked me in at 12 noon that day. I changed to him as my dentist that day. I highly recommend this practice.

I got a call from Dr. Scott Miller yesterday asking me not to return to his office. His office…read moremanager is a broken woman with a big empty smile and they are really not very bright in the office in general - so what happened to me unfortunately is all too common. As an example of the not-so-smart: One of the technicians suggested I use fluoride to make my teeth stronger. I don't know how people take out loans and go to schools that teach such idiocy and then try to push it on the public with an authoritative stance -but I know full well that Fluoride is a neruo- toxin and a by-product of the aluminum industry and everyone with half a brain cell knows it calcifies the pineal gland and does organ damage - yet they recommended it for my teeth. Their equipment is outdated. I feel like when I visit they are using the same machines I saw in high school. There are a lot of new technologies this office can't afford to bring in, which also bothered me about the office. Having said that - I told the office manager directly that she stepped out of line when not helping me to pay my bill properly. I always bring cash but chose another option and she was haughty and rude and thought it was ok to tell me that I had to jump through hoops - instead of doing her job. I was an office manager for years and know full well that she was being bossy and lazy by not doing what I asked - and then she told the doctor I offended her and they had an office meeting and asked me not to return ?!? Well - they are getting reported to the state for bullying and I am not even sure of the legality of having a meeting and discussing a patient with the whole office. I hope they have meeting notes to produce in court because I want to know if that is even legal. Wish them all the best. They are nice people but really dense.

Lydia is everything a dental hygienist should be: professional, thorough, gentle, and personable…read more The dentists I've encountered here have been friendly and competent. Although some of the front desk staff were surly and somewhat unhelpful early on, this situation seems to have greatly improved.

A terrible dental office. I went to them for 3.5 years before having enough. And I kept a lot of…read morethe negative things to myself, trying to have patience and understanding and knowing it's not a perfect world. Here are just some of the things I experienced: - --Bizarre interactions with the office staff - particularly the office manager (and one other). ZERO sense of accountability or humility when they are completely wrong and have no idea about your insurance (year after year), your estimates, your appointments, etc. They make things up as they go about their office "policies", including telling you that "all patients pay 100% up front for major procedures". What?? They always charged for each individual service as I went along, and I paid in full at the desk before leaving each time. Sounds normal, right? But then the manager starts calling that a "payment plan" and saying that "all the other staff were wrong" by charging at each visit for each service. Huh? That is paying for a service 100% - immediately after getting it. That is not a payment plan. Other dental offices have confirmed the absurdity of this. The manager has no idea what she is doing, whether it's regarding your insurance, your estimates, their "policies", or screwing up your appointment and then saying she didn't. --- Very bad experiences with a few (of the many) hygienists I saw there. One of them loved to sing loudly in your ear while she "cleaned" your teeth, and that only took about 7-8 minutes, pecking around on a few teeth, then floss and polish, and "ok! all done". One reviewer referred to them as the "Jiffy Lube" of dental offices. I agree. Move them in and get them out. --- Another hygienist was not-so-hygienic. I was very close to getting up out of the chair and leaving due to her strong...odor. I won't say more about that. Her very awkward behavior and comments were another thing I won't go into. And she too spent literally less than 8 minutes "cleaning" and continuously jabbing my gums with the suction. It seriously seemed like a bad prank. --- One reviewer noted that this is a "girl's club". VERY accurate for sure. And the staff turnover is something soo many people have mentioned - even out in the community. New people every time. And the few good ones are gone. Like no other business I've ever seen. The office manager will tell you that it's all "maternity leave". It is not. ---Another reviewer noted the very blatant political views proudly displayed at the front desk. I never saw that, but I can totally believe it. Another example of the lack of professionalism here. ---The atmosphere and human interaction is very cold and very impersonal. There's a sense of fear in the air. This is not at all your welcoming family dental practice where you develop a friendly human relationship with the staff/dentist/hygienist. I'm going to a new office now, and the difference is absolutely night and day. The people there are highly-professional, friendly and very personable. It's a breath of fresh air. ---And finally, the owners of Cataloochee Dental (2 dentists at another branch) have refused to respond after writing them a multi-page, well-thought-out and detailed letter about it all and asking them very nicely for a reply. I suppose reputation and regard for a patient's experiences don't matter? If enough people speak up, perhaps it will at some point.
