Overall awesome dental practice. Dr. Peterson is my dentist…read more I first came in after discovering a cavity on my tooth. I didn't have a dentist in Asheville yet, so I searched around for one with good reviews. I was able to get an appointment very quickly, and Dr. Peterson did a great job with the filling. I ended up making a new patient appointment after that, and my teeth were cleaned, X-rayed and photographed at angles I never knew existed. They don't cut corners here! I've since had some 10-year-old fillings replaced by Dr. Peterson, as well as new composites on my two front teeth where the old ones had chipped. The composite repair took several tries because of difficulties matching my tooth color, but they made it right with no extra charges. I have been blown away by the amazing customer service at this practice, and the overall kindness and awesomeness from everyone I've interacted with here. Price wise- well, I didn't comparison shop, but I'm thinking the prices here are about average for a high quality dentist. You get what you pay for. This place is worth it!

From the start, the staff in the front promptly returned my call to set up an appointment. The hygienist, Hannah was so lovely. She had the space set up in a cozy manner with lamps and gentle music playing. Throughout each step she was communicative, careful, and attentive. Then, Dr. Patel arrived and continued to provide the same level of compassion and attentiveness. I would highly recommend this practice who anyone who has dentist appointment apprehensive like I did in the past.

I called multiple locations and no one would accept my insurance , but more importantly no one could get me in for an appointment today. As soon as Emily answered the phone at Asheville dental , I knew my luck was changing . She was so sweet and sympathetic. She made sure to explain everything to me including costs, since my insurance is no good in North Carolina and she got me in for an appointment in the afternoon. They sent me a text with all the information and a link to my paperwork so I could fill everything out before I arrived. I made sure to get there early and the offices are warm and welcoming. I gave my name in the front and they checked me in. I was called back right at my appointment time. I explained my situation and Makayla was patient and understanding. She checked my teeth and took an x-ray and made sure to verify the cost with me. Dr. Powell came in to examine me and he was absolutely wonderful. He explained the issue and provided me with lots of options . He answered all of my questions and I left feeling super hopeful and incredibly relieved. Thank you to Emily and Makayla and Dr. Powell! I hope you know what a difference you made in my life today.

There are several issues with this place. I'll elaborate. This place talked with my mom for a while…read moreon the phone, and my mom repeatedly said I have no dental insurance in their talk of several minutes. I shortly after get a text message to bring in my insurance card. That's quite unprofessional to not make notes of someone, and just giving them a generic response, which wouldn't be the first time they are inattentive either. I addressed to the nurse and Dasher that I'm vegan, which is blatantly disregarded later on, as I'll get to that soon. Also, my mom thought the plants in there were real, but I knew they were fake, and even the nurse said they're fake. Real plants help with oxygen, creativity, and other benefits. Their plants are as fake as their care. Dasher doesn't know too much flouride harms the teeth, known as fluorosis, as there's even a word for it, and thinks just spitting out fluoride means it's safe, even though it does absorb into the mouth and skin, like plenty of other things. I'm not totally against flouride either. 98% of West Europe doesn't use fluoride, and they generally have far better teeth than here in infamous bad teeth, and generally awful health America. Denmark officially has the best teeth in the world, according to reports. Japan has far better teeth, especially with NASA giving them nano-hydroxyapatite, which Dasher says is inferior to flouride, even though peer-reviewed studies say it's the same strength or better for teeth. So, the education there is pretty bad. At least Japan, among other advances in health and intelligence over America, is very close to regrowing teeth with stem cells, probably by 2025, several reports say. It's blatantly better to have brand-new teeth than none or fillings. Even after those two issues, I still was willing to go back there. However, the issue with veganism occurs, and this is problematic for anyone with allergies, or any religion, which a dentist place could be used for. I'm prescribed antibiotics, which I really didn't want since loads of peer-reviewed studies of my Russian roots, American studies, and so forth point to garlic being a far better antibiotic than synthetic antibiotics, since it doesn't kill good bacteria, and doesn't build tolerance, unlike synthetic ones (which about 80% of synthetic ones go towards animal agriculture). My mom had her first son pick it up. We trusted this office to handle the appropriate antibiotics, which turned out to be in poor outcome of a half-ass dentist office. The pharmacy won't take back an unopened bag and unopened bottle of pills. I addressed my concerns to the office in two emails. One email was on July 28th, addressing fluorosis, and the other info of Denmark, and so forth. I provided loads of screenshots to validate my claims. It was actually a favor to them so they're aware. No thank you. No reply. No call. No text. August 1st, I email them about the prescription, and the severity of how it can impact people of allergies, religions, and vegans. No reply. I texted them, too. September 11th (wow, a day I witnessed the news of in Florida in my middle school days, and I was in a plane to NJ and back to Florida, seeing the towers only from above) they sent a letter without any reimbursement, without any apology, and says we cannot see you unless an emergency, along with other nonsense. I don't want them to harass me with letters. $6+ to send me a letter. They won't even send emails. Ironically, again, their email at the bottom of the silly letter. It takes them over a month to get back to me. You want to talk about incompetent, and narcissistic of an office. I will be leaving reviews with evidence on various parts of online. I let the oral surgeon he recommended know again like last time. Incompetent and uncaring office. It's good that this place isn't the only place around for dental in Arden/Asheville.

Three months before my first appointment I asked them to check my insurance coverage because it's out of state. They refused and said that they would do that a month before the appointment ... if I reminded them. I did remind them at the one-month mark, and they could not navigate my insurance company's authorization process. My previous dentist had been doing it fine for four years so it's squarely a problem at Embark Dental. Three days before the appointment they asked me to send pictures of my insurance card, which I did. But it wasn't until the morning of the appointment that they texted me to say that they (mistakenly) thought my insurance only covered medical. That's an odd assumption considering that my insurance company had been paying my dental bills for the previous four years. When I arrived at their office, they still had not managed the simple navigation of a Blue Shield insurance agency. They wanted me to give them a credit card. They were basically saying that since they were so incompetent that they could not determine that I was actually covered for dental, they wanted to be able to tag my credit card to cover their inabilities. Then they wanted to digitize my driver's license. I am a former designated security officer for the Air Force, I have spent my whole life in high tech, and I know that digitized IDs are the new form of ID theft. When I declined to let them digitize my driver's license, they said that would be a requirement. I left. Save yourself the problem of leaving their office by not going there to begin with. You'll also save yourself a ton of unnecessary aggravation.

I have been diagnosed with a progressive medical condition and decided to leave the area following the hurricane and was out of state for multiple months. During the period prior to returning to BAFD in late November or early December 2025, I saw two other dentists. At the time I returned to BAFD, I had a recommendation that I needed to redo all four of my front caps because I supposedly had an infection under all four teeth. I did not tell the dentist, Dr Datla, what the recommendation was as I was suspicious after high prices from the other dentist and a friend asking me "why aren't you taking an antibiotic if you have an infection under all four teeth?" and wanted an unbiased second opinion. Dr. Datla is a dentist and a periodontist, so she certainly was going to not miss an "infection". Guess what? No infection and no recommendation to replace the crowns! I also want to mention that I had a lot going on in my life and plenty of dental benefits that were going to expire at the end of December. The staff was so accommodating in getting me scheduled immediately and everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. After my bad experience with another dentist, I assure you it felt especially wonderful. I can fully recommend Biltmore Avenue Family Dentistry as being a warm and inviting place and as having honest professionalism in every area.
