Airline Review: Aer Lingus Priority Check-In
Rating: (1/5 Stars)
Date/Time of Incident: 20 July 2026 at 09:50 AM local time
Class of Service: Business / First Class Priority
The Contrast: An Incredible Country, an Abysmal Farewell
My wife and I just concluded an absolutely spectacular trip to Ireland. From a flawless stay at the prestigious K-Club in Kildare to a private, VIP event at the Guinness Storehouse closed to the general public, we experienced the very best of Irish hospitality.
Unfortunately, that world-class experience was utterly derailed at the finish line by a sub-one-star encounter at the Aer Lingus Priority ticketing counter.
Rudeness and Incompetence at the Counter
When you pay a premium for international first/business class, you expect a certain level of professionalism and efficiency. Instead, we weren't even greeted with a basic salutation. When asked how many bags we had, I clearly stated three.
What followed was a masterclass in poor attitude:
The Scale Incident: The agent demanded I put the bags on the scale without instructions. When I placed a backpack up first, she let out an emphatic, rude, "NO. The heavier bags first."
Arbitrary Commands: Trying to diffuse the tension, I complied and placed our heaviest suitcase down. Because the side handle was facing her, she snapped another correction, commanding me to place the handle in the upward position. As someone who exclusively flies premium classes internationally, I have never had an agent bark orders over luggage placement like this.
Total Disconnection: After processing only two bags, she handed us the receipts. I had to physically remind her that I had explicitly stated we had three bags. She was completely checked out and visibly bothered by her own oversight.
Defiance and Lack of Accountability
At this point, my patience for her incompetence was entirely exhausted. I asked for her name so I could log a formal complaint. She refused to provide it. I had to ask four separate times before she finally snapped, "What is it for?"
Only after the fifth request--and after I explicitly told her it was for a formal complaint regarding her lack of professionalism--did she claim her name was "Stephan" (confirming the spelling S-T-E-P-H-A-N). Whether that is her real name or not remains to be seen, but her behavior was unacceptable.
Final Thoughts: Aer Lingus positions itself as the ambassador to a country known worldwide for having the most hospitable, warm, and friendly people. "Stephan" represents the exact opposite of that brand. I hope management pulls the logs for 20 July 2026 at 09:50 AM and provides this agent with the serious retraining she desperately needs. read more
