All good at the airport till passport controls. Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport is a busy international hub with two terminals, 1 for TAP Air Portugal and other major carriers. It has one notorious problem and that is the processing time for passport controls into and out of the EU Schengen zone. Travellers without young kids should use the e-passport gates to process & enter into the country so that you can exit out the same way. Otherwise you can be stuck in line just because of insufficient staffing and potentially miss your flight! Keep this delay in mind even if you're transferring to domestic flight after arriving internationally. If you're just entering the airport, plan also for the lengthy queue for security especially during the morning peak. For some reason, security tells you to extract all liquids into one small bag although we saw later that many passengers didn't bother. Furthermore, our luggage scan didn't save properly in their system and we had to wait in line for a rescan. The airport itself is quite spacious with plenty of amenities including a large food court that features many local restaurants and fast food options, as well as souvenir, sports and clothing shops. Within the EU Schengen area, there is also a busy central seating area with escalators that lead up to several premium lounges along with a row of hidden recliner seats away from the bustle. The plastic seating at the gates show signs of stain from many passengers sleeping across these seats with their shoes on. While there are gates directly to some planes, all of our flights required taking a bus sometimes with a long wait to get to our planes, adding to the wait-time. One positive while you're waiting at the airport is their wifi which streams quite fast. The airport is conveniently serviced by the Lisbon Metro red line about 40 minutes from city centre. Ask Me Lisboa kiosk is located at the entrance where you can pickup the Lisboa Card to cover transit and sightseeing up to 3 days. Skip it or hit it? Lisbon Airport can be pleasant if you get there 3-4 hours ahead of time to make it through security and passport controls.

Experiencing Lisbon as a primarily English speaker is one of the best non-primary English speaking countries I have visited. The people are warm, welcoming, and go out of their way to speak English when they recognize a visitor is struggling. Cascais, Sintra, Belem, or Lisbon itself all delivered this experience during my stay. All of that went out the window when I arrived at the airport to depart. Limited or non-existent signage (even in Portuguese) remotely attempting to inform travelers what direction to walk created chokepoints at every stage. The staff working the airport seemed like a totally different Portuguese citizen than all of the amazing people I interacted with in the cities, restaurants, hotels, and excursions. They gave the impression that they had no interest in helping direct the flow of traffic to make things easier on the travelers, or themselves for that matter. That combined with the poor operational engineering made each required step difficult to navigate, right up to the point of locating the physical departure gate. Part of me understands why their demeanor appeared to be miserable. Proper setup and staging with clearly labeled signage completely removes the need to speak with a human at the majority of major European cities and hubs. As a career operator, a small investment in signage would change the entire experience. That would likely improve the staffs outlook on spending day after day speaking to lines of travelers all asking the same question in a row. In closing, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you add Lisbon to your list of cities to visit as an English speaker. Especially if you love the ocean, outdoors, history, and topped tier cuisines from all over Europe, North Africa, and Asia. Just prepare yourself to have your overall experience take a dive upon arrival to the airport.

This is the kind of review that will save you from a total meltdown that will ruin your experience in Portugal. First off this airport is notorious for its dated infrastructure, confusing signage, totally illogical layout and mostly unhelpful staff (outside of the airline ground staff). This is well known if you simply look it up anywhere on the internet. The one thing that is really what causes mass chaos on a daily basis is the demented way the terminal is set up where passport control is located AFTER the security/duty free/shopping area in the terminal. When you depart from the main terminal (1) you will check in and show your passport to ground staff and go through a screening where they scan your boarding pass you will pass security. After that you will walk through a long and winding duty free section that opens in to the area where stores and restaurants and lounges are. What many people don't realize is that after all this there is a gigantic line where you have to do the actual passport control process to get to your actual gate. So here's the issue, the line is often overwhelming and can be as long as 1-4 hours long. My personal experience at 10am was a 1.5 hour wait. We barely made it to our gate in time. But many people don't realize this and show up with like 15-30 minutes to go and end up cutting the line, pushing people around and even get into open fights with people. (During our time the police actually arrived to break up one fight). It is absolutely lawless and there is almost nothing being done by the staff to corral anything. There are stories about this that circulate on the internet and it is due to obviously this being an aging airport in the middle of the city with no meaningful way to expand. While there's talk about the new airport being developed, the timeline is still years away so unless they do something drastic to renovate internally (which seems unlikely given the limited space) or to get more of those automated machines working, I don't see this changing anytime soon. Also even though the lines are delineated by EU and all passports all of the lines were pretty long but the all passports line was definitely overwhelming. Point being, you'd better budget a crap ton of time, because you have no idea how long it's going to really take to get to your gate

Very subpar experience here. First, there's no actual gate at least not for TAP. You arrive and deplane via a staircase right onto the runway like you would at a small private airport. Then you board a shuttle bus to arrive at passport control. INSANELY long lines, we are talking hours. There are no bathrooms in sight. So you just got off a 6+ hour flight and now need to wait in line for hours with no bathrooms. If I ever come back to Portugal I'd probably fly into Spain and take the train here because this is ridiculous. I had seen horror stories online and be assured they are true! In Spain we literally walked up to passport control with no line! Additionally, it was impossible to get an uber. I waited over 25 minutes and could not connect with a driver. I got frustrated so just started walking out of the airport. I walked about 20 minutes and then called an Uber to my accommodations. After the walk the Uber was only 4 euros compared to the 15 quoted at the airport. The only positive thing I will say is that this airport has some really nice shops for buying souvenirs and duty free items. They have a nice Longchamp store and beautiful offerings of wine and cheese.

AEROPORTO DE LISBOA - Hubby's birthday trip last month was a blast but this airport was quite the experience . We landed on a Thursday afternoon from calm and organized Frankfurt and when we got here it was hot , over crowded and felt like there was no air conditioning in the building ! We got our duty free goods and trying to find our bolt car was like being in a zoo because there were sooo many people just congregated in the area with no demarcations. Bad signal too. Leaving were on a 5am flight and we got to the airport super early and there were all these closed counters and people sleeping through out the terminal. By the time they opened the security line it was literally a herd of travelers ! Not many options for food and it was quite an adventure arriving and leaving Portugal!!! Just be Ready!!!
Easy-ish! Wasn't too bad or too great. It was ok. Immigration/ custom/passport line is chaos. Long wait. Not that great. It's clean, have a lot of pretty roosters/goodies to buy!! But that was it. In and out. Long wait! read more

Fairly easy to navigate- not one of the most beautiful or memorable airports I've ever seen but I have to admit I was in zombie mode when we first arrived. Access to the city is both simple and cheap via the mentor. I believe it was around three Euro. -----return flight thoughts: -the lines/organization was borderline atrocious but that seems fairly common in Mediterranean European airports -the food court was incredible (think gourmet bakeries, rotisserie chickens, fresh melon juice, plush and beautiful seating, etc.) read more

As a Portuguese person living in the US, I was so excited about this layover. OMG, it was terrible. The international terminal for TAP had MINIMAL food offerings. Everything was carb heavy. If I had known this, I would have grabbed food in the central food/shops area where I bought some Portuguese trinkets for my family. Be prepared! Bring snacks! Also, the wine in the small cheese shop in the international terminal was the most affordable alcohol. So I had some illicit snacks. read more
It's chaotic, busy and somewhat disorganized. The sign posts are misleading and somewhat confusing. There seems to be some construction going on during the busiest time of year making it a bit more chaotic than normal. It's spread over two terminals and it's just always busy. Check in counters are spread all over the place and I ended up at the wrong counters twice :-) there are cafes and bars spread throughout the place and some areas have none :-) I use it because I have to. Not my favourite airport to fly in and out of. read more
Besides customs taking a while, I must say the airport was fairly easy to navigate. It was clean, lots of signage, and employees who were helpful. Both my family and I were happy with the brief experience at the airport and have no complaints. read more
Probably one of the worst airports we have been to. Their own website isn't updated so if you are checking to see which gate your flight is departing from, forget about it. Their own website said that transvania was at gate one but in fact, it was at gate two. We checked ahead of time and got the wrong gate number. We had to take a bus to get to gate two. What a waste of time. A lot of people were also misinformed. I recommend that you check via phone beforehand in case you are running late and you arrive at the wrong gate. Then we got to our gate and there was a super long line. The person working there said we would get priority bc we were traveling w our baby but then came back and said that we couldn't bc other customers were complaining too much. One of the redeeming factors of this airport was that it had a special security line for disabled, pregnant and parents w children. That was nice that we didn't have to wait too long through security. Once we arrived at our gate, there was a super line to go to the women's restroom since there were so few facilities available. Then they boarded us only for us to wait in this long line for 15 min bc the passengers from the previous flight hadn't de boarded and they hadn't cleaned the plane. Why would they have hundreds of people stand around when they could have waited comfortably in the airport. It was so inefficient to have us all stand around. Weird. All in all, have low expectations when flying out from here. Flying in is easy. The taxis are affordable and they have a special taxi line. read more
The Lisbon airport is a pretty good one if you have to spend some time in transit. I had a few hours layover and decided to stay in the airport. Terminal One has a huge food court, with a mixture of fast food, cafes/restaurants, and healthy food options. Lots of shopping and duty free stores like Hublot, Tumi, Desigual, Victoria's secret etc etc. There are huge charging station tables in The food court area but most of the charging outlets did not work. Busy airport, but you will definitely not be bored here. To note: the metro from airport can take you into town in a short period of time if you have a super long layover. read more
The Lisbon airport is the main airport of Lisbon, which we have been through a couple of times on our trips to Europe in the recent years. Compared to most European airports this is a relatively smaller one and on most occasions we have had to wait for a few minutes to clear immigration compared to Zurich or Frankfurt where we usually breeze through. Miami has a direct flight to Lisbon via TAP Portugal which is the shortest flight to Europe usually lasting 7 hours or so. Once inside the terminal the airport doesn't really have anything which distinguishes it from other airports. You have the usual dining areas along with different shops and lounge areas. We have used the ANA lounge a couple of times which is located on the 2nd floor of the departure area. The airport is a 15 minute Uber drive from the city center so it is convenient to use. Hopefully they improve the immigration mess with more employees on our next visit to Lisbon. read more
This airport is small, easy to navigate with signs everywhere. The gate changed twice after my original flight landed. Be sure you check the boards for where your gate is or have your wifi turned on your cell phone for updates. They have their airport set up so you travel through a maze of stores after security which is clever for their commerce, a bit annoying and confusing at first for departing flights. read more
The layout of this airport is labyrinthine and confusing. The signage outside for ticketing is all over the place and often has you walking in circles. Once you're inside, it's better, but not great. The big food court is nice, but for international flights this is pre-screening, so don't dawdle too long or you might get stuck in the security lines. Overall, I've been to worse, but there are improvements that could be made. read more
This airport has 2 floors and it's really easy to find where you need to go - to the point where you second guess yourself. It can't be that simple? Well, it is. You have to look at the monitors to find which ticketing area is for your airline - it changes all the time. It's not like in any other airports where American Airlines, Delta, United, etc has their own ticketing area. You won't know until 2 hours before your flight. I'm used to checking in 3 hours before an international flight so I was standing for an hour but the airport staff was nice and kept me entertained. The arrival/ departure process were both easy. The airport is clean and modern. Each gate has tiled walls of different colors. Lots of shops to get souvenirs/ duty free items. There's a futbol store too with of course, Cristiano Ronaldo jerseys. There's also an area dedicated to fado. I did my last-minute shopping here for some port wine, chocolate filled with port wine, fado CD's, shirts, bags and magnets. read more
I have been to Lisbon Airport before for flight transfers out of this airport. It has always been convenient. Staying in Lisbon for a few days we experienced bag claim area of this airport as well now. I like the fact they tell you approximately what time you baggage is coming right above the area for your flight. The airport food options are pretty standard. There are some nice lounges in the airport and pretty relaxing. Overall this is a good airport for flight transfers or even landing for staying in Lisbon. Side note for travelers/tourists in Lisbon: You can also buy the tourist card from the airport. That is situated near the arrivals tourism booth. The Lisbon card gives you access to tourist spots as well as transportation. You can buy 24,48 or 72 hour card. read more
Ok, all's I gotta say about this airport is that you cannot run late if you're catching an AA flight! My friend and I had about a half hour to board our plane to come back home after a long 24 day vacay all over Europe and yes we were running a bit behind schedule. What made it worse was that we couldn't find the AA tkt. window to check in! You know how in MIA AA has a whole terminal?!? Well, in Lisboa/Lisbon, AA is a tiny little airline with only two tkt windows. So to our dismay, we couldn't locate it. We asked several people and they kept giving us different directions to go into. Please, trust me on this, give your self enough time. American Airlines is not a big deal there as it is here. LOL. We finally, stumbled onto one of the windows where a very laxed attendant was patiently asking for our papers and flight info. Meanwhile, we're about to miss our flight but he had to make sure to tell someone next to him how he was supposed to go on break and kinda started an argument. I'm just looking at him like dude I need to get on this plane, but I also don't want to piss him off, cause you know I'll end up losing there by missing my flight. So what did I do, I compliment his hair and ask him if he thought we had enough time to check in and then he continued to help us. OMG! It was a close call but we made it! Thank God!!! The airport itself I found a bit confusing and not enough signs, but I was looking for something specific AA! Again, give yourself plenty of time! read more

We flew out of this airport twice for our TAP flights to and from Nice / New York. We were in Terminal 1. It's clean and easy to navigate through. T1 has lots of food spots and shops to kill some time between your flights. Not too many long lines, though there's a lot of waiting for your flight. Sometimes you have to take a bus to your plane. Free WiFi and other convenient services are great. People usually speak English in case you don't speak Portuguese. read more

Since we were flying from Valencia to Lisboa, arriving was really fast and simple. We even got to our luggage carriage bent even before my luggage arrive. There is also Aerobus that offers fast and decent connection to downtown area. However, if you are departing and leaving EU from this airport, everything can be a nightmare. Seriously, when the signs said it would take you a long long time and your gate is really really far for International departure, they are not joking. Give yourself plenty of time, if you want to keep your sanity! I wish the lounges are more spread out. At least they should have at least one or 2 in the International gate. read more
Overall not bad for an international airport. It is modern with decent shopping options for killing time when leaving the country. Be warned that once you check in (outbound) and they finally tell you a gate get to the exit immigration line asap because it can be very slow. We had plenty of time but on this Saturday morning they only had three workers scanning passports and there were many panicked travelers who were about to miss their flights. They do employee people to keep the line moving which other airports should do. When we arrived two week earlier the inbound immigration line was reasonably long but moved quickly - when leaving Lisbon we noticed that this same area was absolutely jammed with incoming passengers and I am guessing it involved at least an hour or more wait to clear it. Also we had pre-arranged transfer from the airport to our AirBnb (and back) through our host and this turned out to be a great time savings because the taxi line was huge. In addition, the following week the taxis were on strike for multiple days protesting Uber. Not sure if Uber is going to survive in Portugal... read more

I have 1 word for this airport and it is wow! We were here on a 2-hr layover from marseille to Madrid and we didn't mind the "downtime" at all. Normally we hate long layovers because airports are notorious for being impersonal, boring and offers nothing decent to eat. Apparently, Not the Lisbon airport because in the words of my girlfriend, "this place is like a mall in West LA." Meaning mid to high end merchandise and fancy dining options...in an airport. She said not even Heathrow or JFK has the concentration of tax free brand name shopping per square feet. Lol Needless to say, she dragged me around the airport and before we knew it it was time to board. read more

Although TAP airline has the worse customer service ever, I really liked this airport. It's filled with restaurants, and clothing stores! They also have a lounge area available where you pay 40 euros and it offers lounge chairs, an all you can eat buffet, and an open bar for the day. Super convenient if you have a long layover and are looking for somewhere to relax. TSA is super strict. They only allow one ziplog bag full of liquids which I think is stupid. They're really rude in tsa. Which is why I had to take away a star. read more

Delta Airlines. I arrived to the airport 3 hours prior to my flight as I needed to go to Global Blue to request a tax refund. There was an extremely long line with only two agents checking in. By the time I arrived to an agent my flight was boardning, leaving me absolutely NO time to go and submit for my tax refund for which I was eligible. In fact. I was given fast pass access as I would need to literally run to my gate in an effort to not miss my flight. Poor planning by Delta led to unnecessary panic/anxiety for me as well as cost me my opportunity to submit for my (significant) tax refund. Fly anyone else, but not Delta or arrive 5-6 hours sooner because they can't plan accordingly. read more

If I were only to write good things about the arrival experience here then this review would be blank. We only had hand luggage but having left the plane it still took us over 45 minutes just to get out of the airport itself. The arrival experience was a nightmare. We had to walk for 10 or 15 minutes just to reach the laughable passport check area. If this is the country's way of saying welcome then they are effectively saying feck you. The passport check-in queue was unacceptably long and it was very slow moving with one bone idle officer allegedly on duty. Slo mo service. Had he moved any slower he would have been in a coma. Another two officers were talking to each other oblivious to a long queue that barely moved. While I hadn't the language when I got through the line I went over to the two conversing with each other and pointed at the ridiculous queue and my watch. They stared at me momentarily and in silence then went into booths to do the job I imagine that they are being paid for. The decor of this ugly concrete place was thousands of mini tiles on walls with a sickly green colour that reminded me of 1970's public toilets so in this case it's basically a giant latrine. Departure was better, but it's still a 20 minute plus walk to departure gate and you are forced through the shopping area. Here you get the lights and music with the usual glitzy overpriced, rip - off shops with staff who want to push their price fixed wares at you as you go by. These places amply demonstrate that duty free does not mean profit free. A coffee and custard tart (this tart is hugely popular in Portugal) are 300% dearer here than downtown Lisbon. A 330 ml diet Pepsi comes in at €2.70 - I can buy this at home for 25 cents. The passport check - in at departure was empty with only one of two officers checking departure and it was so fast I thought I should leave Portugal more often, but as we passed we could see the ridiculous queue through glass at the arrivals side in the giant lime green latrine. Seems no one had the wit to move an idle officer resting in departures to help the two officers moving in slo mo at arrivals. It's as well that breathing is automatic. Think we'll go to Malaga next time. read more

This place will make you feel like you are at a mall instead of an airport. At least around the food court and stores area, very clean and modern. It's not overwhelming big more like just the right size, nice people working there too. You have to eat at the Pastelería Versailles, amazing pastries and a delicious vegetarian wrap and you can't go wrong with freshly squeezed orange juice. You could also get a cup of coffee at Hediard. Some of the bathrooms in this airport are not in the best shape, at least not the ones closer to the gates, so try using the ones near the food court instead. read more

Lisboa airport has a great selection of food with French bakeries Hediard and Paul, Portuguese foods/drinks/pasteis de nata, a large duty-free area and even some American food if you really want it (KFC/McDonalds/Pizza Hut). If you are going through with a Euro passport, I'd say this is a great airport (since the process is faster). However, if you're going in with any other passport, it can be a mess getting through customs. I was here on two occasions as a layover and both times, there were long lines with less than efficient waiting times. When I was there the first time, I had asked the customs if I would be able to make my connecting flight to which she sighed and said, "sorry our customs is terrible so we will have to move you to the next flight out." The line itself took close to an hour to get through as there were literally hundreds of people in line. Unfortunately, over the course of staying in line they called other flights over the intercom for others to find out that they too would miss their flight and would have to take the next one out. Staff is great, friendly and helpful, but just wish the airport would staff more people to help move the lines out more efficiently and get people to their gates on time. read more

It is as if the airport vision statement is to cause as much confusion and discomfort as possible. Passport checks? Let's put that right after the sprawling food court where people will think they are done with checks and only need to walk to their gates after. Let's also make sure that passport line is as long as humanly possible. Gate seating? Let's have gestapo checking boarding passes and reserve the seats for people who are in boarding zones 1 and 2 only. Taxi's and Ubers can't drop you off in front. They have to PARK. That adds 15 minutes to the process. Signage is nowhere. There are several different check in places, none near each other. You can wander aimlessly trying to find your particular check in. The security was mercifully uncrowded but there was an airport employee randomly changing the lengths of the lines snd directing people to long lines while others were empty. I think they must have purchased retractable belts and posts for crowd control in bulk, because they are literally everywhere. The worst is the passport control line. Why on EARTH do they have it after a food court? You literally think you are done and then you turn the corner to discover you still have to climb Mt. Everest. I could add that the airport has about 400% more staff than they need, none of whom are helpful. read more
This is a very big airport with a long walk from the international terminal to passport control and baggage claim. Passport control was very quick and easy and got my bag right away. I like the fact you can get a luggage cart for free. Check in for my next flight was very quick and the agents were very helpful. Security was a breeze and didn't have to take my shoes off. Terminal 1 has a great variety of stores and food establishments. Duty free abounds and my favorite place was the Tap Airlines Lounge (costs only $30) and well worth the price for a layover. read more

Getting through security when we arrived from the US took MUCH longer than I thought it would. This was my first visit to a foreign country, but I still feel it was long. Thankfully when we were heading back to the US getting checked in and through security was a much quicker process. Worst international airport I've experienced in my life. Poor, outdated and sad. Customs officials surly and unfriendly. Worst thing there is an company GroundForce. They handle all baggage for all airlines. The laziest, most unhelpful people I've had the displeasure of dealing with. They NEVER answer their phone help line. Tried over 50 times in 24 hours!!!! Baggage lost and no one to help or even remotely interested in helping. Portugal is a wonderful country with friendly and helpful people outside the airport but I'll never come back because the experience requires going through that hellish airport and dealing with unprofessional customs, airport and vendors there. NOT the way to promote tourism! read more

If I could give this airport a negative star I would. HORRIBLE customer service and they have something called Groundforce which is this handler for multiple airlines and they deal with lost baggage at baggage claim... TRASH. I have been waiting for 2 days to get my luggage and they haven't done a thing. I received a call from United Airlines/Groundforce and then told me that they have no update for my luggage. Once I blew United Airlines up via email and copied the company, someone finally got back to me. I'm still waiting for my bags and this airport is a nightmare. Portugal is beautiful but please, I will travel everywhere else but here. WORST SERVICE EVER. We stood in lines for hours just for them to lie and tell us they have no idea where our bags were. Do not fly here!!!!!!!! read more
Mostly the airport was pretty easy. It isn't too far from the city center so that's good. When I arrived customs was quick and then the taxi line was long but moved efficiently for the most part. The airport worker at the front of the line seemed to be there mostly to collect carts. The taxi drivers were policing each other's behavior mostly by yelling...when necessary. Arriving to leave again, I dropped my bag with my airline then go through normal security protocols (shoes & jacket off, liquids out of your bag, laptops/tablets/even my kindle separate), THEN got through customs. Whew. I'm glad I alotted 3 hours though since others were running and panicking. Once I was through all the security THEN I get completely lost because you have to walk through the shopping mall that is the duty free section. So many electronics, so much candy and perfume and makeup, yipes! Turns out there were no signs for my gate as you walked out of the mall and that it was a hard u-turn to get there. OK fine. I found my gate. Then the vending machine ate my last Euro. I guess it was the universe's way of saying "no more chocolate for you." For some reason my flight to Miami was selected for a 2nd search by the local police so we all lined back up and were randomly selected (not me) for a bag search. read more

I've found the twin airport for Luton! Terminal 2 is a mix between an overcrowded gate of hell and a transport hub which is far too small for the numbers of travellers who are forced to use it. Well, at least it is clean and climatized so that you are neither too warm nor too cold. Also, the bathrooms are plentiful and well stocked. Beyond that, not the place to spend a long layover. Not much in the way of shops and dining to choose from-very limited. I asked an attendant about my flight and she got very snippy about it, indicating it was such a long way away that, of course, it would not be listed on the boards yet. As if! Then she gave me the side-eye for my carry-on, a carry-on I had flown to Europe with on another airline, American!-thank God-no problem, but here it was. I proceeded to settle in when security shows up and moves us to another side of the airport. I find a quiet area, set up my laptop, and again security shows up to move us again! I inquired if I could leave the airport and return later to which I was told yes, but I would have to go through customs--long, stuffy, and hot, and security--they made me take off my bracelets, something that never happens at other airports/airlines, and indicated I would have to go through the whole process all over again, which I understand, given security, but the length and inefficiency made me think twice. I flew this way because I heard TAP was a reasonably priced and excellent airline, which turned out to be true, so if you decide like me and have a layover in Lisbon Airport, mentally prepare yourself for the experience! Wait! I just got moved by security again after having gone the area a guard sent me to originally, Is it my fuchsia Patagonia backpack? My pink corduroy western jacket? Or has Ashton Kutcher resurrected Punked and I did not know about it? read more
Arrivals are super efficient as the airport is small. However departures are a real pain as the staff is horribly rude (primarily Air France/Joon). Absolutely AWFUL!!!!!! If you can avoid this airport DO IT!!!! Had a connecting flight from Barcelona to London that stopped here & what they DON'T TELL YOU is you have to go through the ENORMOUS CUSTOMS LINES before you can get to your connecting gate. Then, once you are through and you get to the gate, thinking you're about to board your plane, they put you on an over capacity bus and drive you another 15 minutes from the airport, to a freeway, to the tarmac & then LEAVE YOU ON THE BUS with 200 people and keep the doors closed for no exaggeration 20 F*CKING MINUTES!!!!! * No room to bend your knees * Surrounded cheek to infected cheek * AND caused us to miss our connecting flight from London to Los Angeles. I'll do ANYTHING to avoid coming here again. Thought Portugal might be a great place to visit one day, but the airport conditions are so 3rd world that I'll never bring my tourism money here after experiencing this airport. Nothing could be worth enduring this. read more

Very long lines to pass the passport control! You most will likely miss a connecting flight. Choose another point of entry in EU.
I think it's exactly what you would expect from an airport. There is plenty of seating options, a lot of higher end stores( which never made sense to me, like honestly how many people are buying a new Louis Vuitton bag in the airport?) and a sky club. I believe there was only one sky club. The sky club was decent. There were finger food options and drinks. I will say, they probably had one of the easiest customs to get through than any other country I've ever been and for that.... I thank you Portugal! Ha! It was clean, and big... period. I'm really not sure what type of 5 star treatment people expect from a place where millions pass through daily to get to and from, but it serves its purpose. (yes, I am exaggerating, but you get it!) Travel guys... enjoy! read more

The good, the bad, and the ugly! My family and I made 4 trips either into our out of this airport within the last two weeks. The airport is small-medium in size which should make it easily navigable. There's a good size shopping area for both foods and duty free purchases. Baggage claim after your arrival is easily found and pretty timely. Getting out of the airport is where it gets tricky. Uber picks up on the departure "kiss and ride area" while taxis and buses are outside of baggage claims. There are no signs to tell you where Uber drivers park-we had to learn this the hard way. To access the Metro, you have to go outside of the building and then enter their station-there's no direct hallway. Flying out is where things get ugly. Checking-in kiosks are non-descript and serve multiple airlines. We printed off our Delta boarding passes on Sunday yet we still had to wait in the same line as everyone else to just drop off our luggage which took almost 45 minutes!! From there we hoofed it to the security line that was backed up to the entering hallway and it too took almost 45 minutes to get through. You have to RUN through all the shops to make it to the passport confirmation area. Now to be clear, I had already shown my passport at the airline counter and again through security. There are several different automated kiosk areas to go through depending on your originating country. None of us U.S. citizens could use the automated kiosks because they would not work. When we finally waved someone down, all they said was to go to the "all passports" line... and again...we waited..with all the other U.S. passport holding travelers. The line grew rapidly and we were starting to get frantic. They finally pushed us over to the non-U.S. passport side to get us through, but that still took 20 minutes! We arrived to the airport 2+ hours before our flight and were among the last dozen people to board. The airport is not prepared to deal with the influx of passengers and our Saturday flight from Barcelona was parked out in the back lot with a dozen other planes and everyone bussed to the terminal. This was after we had to circle the terminal several times before landing. Lisbon is a beautiful city. Their airport needs to grow to keep people coming back. read more

Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon is a great airport with excellent facilities. The airport is very clean and well-organized, with clear signs and directions throughout. The cafeteria in the airport is particularly noteworthy, with a wide range of food options available and delicious coffee. The airport also has a good selection of shops and duty-free stores, making it easy to find souvenirs or last-minute essentials before boarding your flight. The staff are friendly and helpful, which adds to the positive experience of traveling through this airport. Overall, I highly recommend Humberto Delgado Airport for anyone traveling to or from Lisbon. read more

It is an OK airport. There's often big delays when they deliver our baggage, but other than that the staff is nice and helpful. There connections to central city are good now with the metro. Also, the wi-fi is limited to 30 minutes, which isn't exactly nice, considering we often need to wait a lot more than that. read more

The police and lost and found workers here are the worst people I've ever come into contact with in my entire life. Truly horrible, rude, disgusting people. Avoid at all costs. Should be ashamed of themselves. read more
