Where is the zero star when it's necessary?! The equivalence to the TSA here is horrible. Threw your belongings around as if they are trash. One customs worker working the international passports on the weekend!? We spent nearly an hour waiting in line to get our passports stamped at this airport while multiple people had to run to their gates because the lack of workers. Both times I went to this airport I almost missed my flight. They also seem to board flights 45 minutes in advance so make sure you are at the gate ahead of your boarding time. They will not wait for you. Other than that, they had a nice selection of restaurants and shops while you waited- if you had time. Long story short. Come early if you are not a resident. read more

Their counter-argument that they are forbidden because the contents of a tin is over 120 ml is an idiotic excuse and it doesn´t matter how many times the magical sentence: "That's a rule!" is repeated!!! Doesn't seem super well organized. If you are there for a car rental, that whole area is a fluster cluck and a half. Signage could be greatly improved. At least the bathrooms seemed clean. And there was a Starbucks. read more

Flying internationally from here is a bit of a pain because the secure area beyond passport check is a glorified cattle yard. There are bare bones amenities, vending machines instead of restaurants and it is extremely overcrowded. This situation brings out the worst in people and everyone is on edge and hangry (regretting not getting snacks at the multiple nice cafes and restaurants on the other side of international security). Beyond this the airport is nice, clean, well-located and has nice amenities. Just eat or get to-go before your international flight and be sure to bring headphones to drown out the constant griping of other passengers. read more

The airport has free WiFi (both inside and outside the immediate area). The bus ride/taxi from the plane to the terminal took a while, the bus was pretty crowded with everyone standing. Walked to the customs area took awhile - have your passport ready. The customs area moved pretty quickly for a Tuesday afternoon, they had about 14-15 officers there. The baggage claim carousel had the wrong flight information on it. Overall, not a bad experience. read more

Lisbon I love your people, your culture and your food but I do not care for your Airport at all, Terminal 2 especially. It has a really weird layout and the security lines are such a joke. They didn't do anything about people who were cutting to the front of the line. My wife and I must of have fifteen people cut the line. Compounding the problem they had no one working to get passengers through customs. Just one person working! One!!! We almost missed our flight because of all these reasons. We came three hours early, but since it's so disorganized I recommend coming at least four to five hours ahead of time for international flights. read more

We flew in here today from CDG in Paris. As huge and full of traffic as CDG is, this airport is small and manageable. We were met w/ wheelchairs pushed by two lovely young people who helped us retrieve our luggage and pushed us out front to meet our driver. The woman helpful me had worked on a Disney cruise ship for a few months and we spoke about how hard the crews work and how long the hours are. It was a nice conversation. As we were driving out of the airport our driver commented on how much traffic there was. All the security jobs in Lisbon airport should have been automated away a long time ago, and the entire immigration and security team should've been human centipeded straight Into the Atlantic ocean. I've seen vending machines with more empathy and free will than the people who work there. As I starved for 20 hours behind the immigration area of the airport (no food, water from bathroom taps), all the security staff could do was a shitty impression of cheap monkey toys that shake their heads and bang two cymbals together. Not to mention the hilarious amounts of time it took the immigration staff to solve basic problems for the poor passengers stuck there through no fault of their own. You've heard that if you leave a bunch of monkeys with a typewriter long enough, they would eventually write Shakespeare? Well I found that room, but it was one monkey, filing immigration paperwork. read more

I wish the airport had better and simpler design. It's probably the most confusing airport I have been in. I was tired and lost for 1 hour in there. Also ended up losing all my identity documents at the airport and I still had no clue where to get out/which is the right exit. Also, beware of the taxis outside the airport. Stick to uber or use another taxi app that you can trust. Otherwise you wl get scammed into paying more. Also, always check before sitting in the taxi if the car has a meter and the driver accepts cards in case you don't have cash. Try and get a receipt too from the driver. Mishaps happen and you lose something in the taxi; precautions like these will help. There is some kiss and fly zone somewhere outside the airport where all the ride sharing cars wait. I couldn't find it for the life of me during the 30 mins I spent running on the roads outside the airport. So navigate Lisbon and its airport carefully read more

CONS: 1) There are way too many shops from the moment you enter the airport to the point you board your plane. 2) The airport has too much free space (long, wide empty corridors) 3) Strikes happen regularly, contributing to overall flight delays or cancelations. 4) Wifi does not work well. PROS: 1) Close to the city center (15 minutes away by taxi). 2) Easy to locate gates, many signalling signs and monitors which display gate info. 3) Fast customs and border control 4) Wide variety of restaurants. read more

An OK airport altogether but just frustrated with the lack of organization. Check in lines take a bit long, even while being a business class passenger. During my check in, they didn't seem to monitor if you actually had business class access or not, so quite a few passengers joined the line in an effort to bypass their standard lines and were still well received by the attendant despite their difference in ticket class. It also took me a while to navigate the airport and find the lounge, not much was in English and the general layout of the gates and shops was a bit confusing! It's a huge, modern looking and clean airport with many small shops and eating places like McDonald's,sushi place, bistro, and souvenir shops. It has a very nice atmosphere, free wifi, a lot of space and looks very modern which is awesome. Also taking the bus to the other terminal you can see the wonderful landscape one last time. This airport is surprisingly awesome and has very coordinated staff who also speak English. The airport is right across from the train station which makes things easier and things go smoother. I would visit again any time soon. read more

Really nice airport. Fairly small but very efficient. Lots of high end tax free shopping and nice lounges, even for Priority Pass holders.

Mediocre airport. It's possible to check in and tag your bags. If you do that, you are still standing in a huge queue. Lot of check-in desks but people there busy with a lot except checking in. When you are helped it takes actually under one minute. Security check seems to be at least a 5 mile walk. Friendly staff though throughout whole security which is a nice change from other airports. After that, expect a long walk to your gate and a slightly chaotic boarding process. read more

The airport isn't too big and it's not too new or clean looking, but it gets the job done. Take the metro if you're going to the airport, as it drops you off right inside the airport. I was not so happy with this airport. The proces for food where insane. Lisbon is not an expensive city but the proces in the airport were more expensive than I would pay at airports in more expensive cities. Also, if you are not flying with TAP, it takes a very long time for them to display which gate you need to go to in order to board you plane. I found that a bit annoying. After going through security, you are forced to walk through the duty free free store. This is not handy if you are in a hurry (luckily I was not.) While the airport building was nice and transit there was easy (just hop in the Metro), it are the details that matter when traveling and I think those really need to be looked at by the airport owners. read more

Very interesting airport experience. Even though we had already checked in, we had bags we needed to drop off. Upon entering the airport, we noticed a sign for our flight that told us to proceed to desk 68-82, or something like that. When we finally made it over to the area, we realized it was a long queue of several flights all being checked in at the same bank of desks. Interesting concept. Was a little concerned as we drew closer to the start of the queue when I was noticing how many times the queue snaked around. Thank goodness for the agent standing at the entrance to confirm if we had already checked in. Yes, yes we did! Our line was much shorter. Phew! We left one bag with the desk agent & dropped off our odd shaped bag (aka Wine Check) with the baggage handlers. Now it was time to make our way to the security checkpoint. Even with the large crowd of people (Friday morning in a capital city airport), we made it through security - no stripping necessary! - rather quickly. Another win! Now time to walk through the large duty free area and to the food court area. I needed coffee stat. After grabbing a cup of disappointing coffee, we decided to find our way to the gate. Felt like we walked to a whole different wing of the airport. Now it was time to make it through Customs. Another winding queue. YAY! This one didn't move as quickly, but it wasn't horribly slow. We eventually made our way to our gate and found a much better cup of coffee. This is where I started to have horrible flashbacks of the Miami airport. When it was time for us to board, we took stairs down to a holding pen to wait for a shuttle to the tarmac. Not my favorite way to have to board a plane. Makes me respect the traditional American (not the airline) boarding pattern. For a foreign airport I had never been in, it wasn't as bad as I feared and of course we allowed ourselves PLENTY of time so we weren't running like crazy people through the airport. I don't know how often I'll have a chance to fly into/out of Lisbon, but I'm ready to board whenever I do. read more

Poor security! Watch out for your physical security and your suitcases. Within 1 hour of being on that airport, I saw a man be attacked by another passenger TWICE and security was nowhere to be found both times. Waiting for our suitcase I saw a suitcase thief taking his pick as he lined up with passengers who got off the flight. Here too, no security in sight, no one to question the situation. read more

When I arrived in Lisbon, I was surprised! I found this airport very pleasant! Honestly, I was so excited to discover the city that I l immediately left the airport to take the subway! When I came back to the airport (T2 - "low cost flights" terminal) to head back to Brussels I was a little bit disappointed... the terminal is very cold and industrial and there are only 2 or 3 shops and snacks (Mc Donalds FYI). If you have to wait for 2 long hours for your flight in this terminal: I wish you luck my friend! So boring and so illogic! Shops should be build in the departure terminal instead of in the arrival one! Maybe T1 is more attractive... who knows? read more

I love shopping while traveling internationally. I especially love shopping in the airports. It has nothing to do with being duty free but everything to do with being able to find pieces that I can't find back in the US. This was a shopping Mecca for us. We were especially fascinated with the Porsche Design store and it took everything not to drop a ridiculous amount for a purse. Anyway, I'm sure you're reading this because you're more interested in the airport itself and not the shopping, so here's by breakdown. It's busy! Be prepared and ready so you don't hold up the queue. Security was well managed and moved smoothly. It's a fair sized airport so I would wear comfy shoes so you can haul it to your gate if necessary. Two stars for the shopping --- but -3 for the functionalities of the airport -- it took us 15 minutes and numerous requests for direction to find our check in -- and another concentrated attempt to get to the gate -- in between these two points, we were asked for our passports about six times. Once inside security, expect duty free heaven, a disneyland for adults looking for alcohol, tobacco and perfume -- or the last chance to snatch something local for their peeps at work. Flew in and out of here for vacation from the US. Flying in, no problem. Deplaned, made it through customs fairly quickly, but ended up having to wait an hour for bags to come out. They were coming out 3-4 bags at a time, which was messed up. Taxis at the front. Be careful with the taxis. They can't charge you a fee for baggage, it's considered fraud/stealing. Also, they must have the meter on while going. Anyways. When flying out, especially international, it's confusing. First get your tickets, you have to use these little kiosk things for your ticket. Then find your airline, especially when your checking bags. If your flying international, you'll get the typical security questions pre dropping off your bag. Some airlines had lines that looked like they were 1/2 hr long minimum, ours was 5-10 minute max. Then it's a maze of getting through security and finding your correct gate. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your gate, it can take awhile. read more

Personally, I felt like this was the worse airpoet I had been to when traveling in Europe. It is not a clean airport. The worse thing about this airport was bathrooms. They smelled of stale urine and you can smell them all over the airport. It took me two days to get that smell out of my nose. I liked how close to the city the airport is situated. Check in was quite straightforward too. My main gripe is that the food available in the airport is shockingly bad. I dont understand all the bad reviews on this airport, already used it for several times and have the feedback from other collegues that never had a problem with Humberto Delgado airport. People complain that they forgot things at the plane and that the workers didnt let them to go back.... what was supposed to happen? Do yourself a favor and avoid this airport at all cost, especially TAP Portugal airline. My flight from Lisbon to Venice got cancelled for no reason, staffs are rude, electric outlets at aiports do not work. I mean there are 20 about outlets right in the food court area and 1/20 seems to work. ONE out of freaking TWENTY ya all. Also, the design of the outlet is dumb. Whoever set it up must had been on crack. There is a pole of multiple electric sockets at the end of a row of seats. So whoever sits at the end of this row get all 6 sockets to themselves. Others get none. WHAT!!!??? People are expert at cutting in line here. They cut in line left and right like there is no tomorrow. I assume that is their culture here. How rude! On top of that, restrooms are dirty and smelly. This is the worst international airport I have been to. Waiting for a transit flight here was a nightmare. This was my first and would be my last time stopping here. I would rather pay extra couple hundred $$$ to avoid this hell hole. read more

Terrible airport. If I could give it less stars, I would. Terminal 2 is incredibly small and can not accommodate the volume of passengers. There's no where to sit, not even the floor, as every possible spot is taking by weary passengers waiting for the two boards within the entire terminal to finally update with their gate number. Oh, and that won't happen until about 10 minutes prior to boarding so make sure you're paying attention. If at all possible, avoid this airport. read more
