I had a very concerning experience at this urgent care that I feel other parents need to be aware of. I brought my daughter in while she was actively having an asthma attack and in clear respiratory distress. Instead of prioritizing her medical condition, the staff focused on an issue with her insurance, stating that the subscriber could not be found. I explained that I was willing to pay out of pocket just to have her seen, but they still refused to provide care. It was extremely alarming and disappointing to see a child in need of urgent medical attention turned away over administrative issues. In that moment, her health and safety should have come first. Because they refused to treat her, we had no choice but to leave and go to the emergency room for care. This delay could have had very serious consequences. To make matters worse, it felt like the urgency to clear out the waiting area may have played a role in their decision-making, which is deeply concerning if true. I would strongly caution other parents to think twice before coming here in an emergency situation. No family should have to go through this when their child needs immediate medical help. This urgent care is a scam clinic. Never go to this place!!! First, the urgent care never followed up with you on the blood work test result. What's more frustrating is their billing system. They never billed to my insurance company but trying to charge me additional money directly. I was trying to get the billing issue solved for months, both called my insurance company and the urgent care for at least 5 times. Every time received the same response from the urgent care. They were going to escalate the issue and have submitted the bill. However, when I was trying to get the claim id. They could never provide it. Apparently, they did nothing, just want to get extra money from the patient! WANT TO re-emphasize the below 4 points. 1. I have already met my deductible this year. 2. There is no any record for this visit on my insurance portal. That's why my insurance company was asking for the claim id so that they can check. However the urgent care cannot provide even one. 3. I have already called the urgent care and insurance for at least 5 times but without any process. If you want to solve this issue, contact me!!! I am not going to call you again. The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. We recently had a trip to Florida and had to give our COVID test after the first three days of self quarantine to make sure we were not exposed. Booking an appointment through online with AFC Kearny was a cake walk and we arrived at the location little ahead of the given appointment time. We walked through the front door which beyond a point was locked and was not accessible to public. The receptionists take your call from their room while looking at you and don't come out or let you in unless needed. A little later the Doctor called us on my wife's phone and asked us basic questions on why we were there and if showed any symptoms. We again waited in our car to be called for the testing and we were called in the next 5 minutes. We did a PCR and not a rapid test. You will need to walk towards the back door through a ramp and a nurse arrives to do the swab test. The testing is a pain where they insert a long swab into your right nostril that can make you sneeze any moment. She collected the test samples and in three days we called the clinic to confirm that we were tested negative. Such a relief! Front desk people are rude and nasty. This place has terrible and ghetto workers. The care could be way better and actually have the provider go in depth. I've been to the AFC in Bloomfield and it's way better then this place. They take over 40 mins to call you in and if you ask the front desk people for a ETA, they seem to have attitudes and terrible facial expressions. They'll also bring you into a room and make you wait an additional 30-40 mins. I'm sorry you don't like your job! The place also looks dirty and feels unsanitary. On top of that, I brought my sister in and the lady at the front desk said they require "verification from a parent" which is fine, but her tone and delivery were terrible. I would much rather go to the ER or drive a but further for better quality care. On top of all of this a lady made me walk out the back door with a sick child. read more

Amazing urgent care experience, I went in for rapid COVID testing, and the staff were upbeat, professional, seemed happy to be working and really made me feel at ease. The location is super easy to get too and the parking lot is nice and flat. The facility is very clean and seems high tech. The doctor I spoke with was very patient and answered a lot of my questions and seemed to take his time. Staff kept me updated while I waited for my results. Thank you so much guys! read more

Never had an issue with AFC before. My kids all went to AFC Kearny and i have as well. Today i made an appointment and waited 45 minutes in the car and was never called in for the appointment. Went inside and they told me that the Provider does not take children under the age of 4. my son will be 4 next month. Why couldn't they tell me when they received the appointment that children under 4 were not being see with the provider on site. read more

This is probably one of THE WORST Urgent cares i've ever been too; Rewind back to April when my mother needed oxygen and this was the CLOSEST urgent care, couldnt even get into the building and a nurse came out saying we needed an appntmnt... WHATS THE POINT OF AN URGENT CARE IF U NEED AN APPNTMNT?! SO now that some time has past, i try and walk in today and doors are locked STILL, no walk ins, they never answer the phones and mailboxes are full so cant leave a message... not like they'd call back anyway. My appointment for a simple Covid swab was super late and ultimately took 1.5 hours. What's the point of making appointments if they aren't honored? Even worse, the waiting room is kept at 90 degrees or so and no food or beverages are permitted so my wife and I became so dehydrated and sweaty it exacerbated our symptoms. read more

This is the second time I've come here at 8am and though the sign says they're open 8a-8p, the door is still locked and there's not a worker in sight. The couple of times that I've actually been seen, the doctor was excellent. However, when you're seeking care, locked does is the last thing you want to see. I am a regular patient here & today I witnessed the most horrible thing ever with staff and respect for the individual . I was there for my appt in my room and I heard a commotion with a male voice . The manager ( I'm assuming ) was speaking so rudely & very degrading to one of the ladies that works In the office . She is always very attentive and so helpful . I don't think a business should be ran this way because it brings down morale of these workers . I went in for blood work, The Nurse that took the samples was very professional and attentive. Being around many people today , seems like manners and kindness no longer exists. She was a good reminder that there are still people out there that smile even during the unexplainable consequences, like Covid 19. This place is extremely unprofessional. I went there for a quick visit with my boyfriend because he was having sharp pain in his armpit that was hindering him at work. We walked in to check in and the receptionist yelled at us to wait outside to be helped. So while we are waiting outside with 2 other people who are just there for the rapid covid test and she comes out and starts asking my boyfriend personal questions about why he's there to be seen. He tells her and then she goes back inside after locking the door. When she returns she starts asking him even more personal questions so I stepped in because I'm actually a registered nurse and told her that it is completely inappropriate for her to be having that conversation in front of other people like that and we hadn't even checked in or anything yet. So she goes back inside and gets a nurse and the nurse comes out and talks to him but then starts only asking him covid-related questions when that's not why we're there and then refuses to see him because he hasn't had a covid test recently. Since when is it warranted to have covid test to be seen at a URGENT CARE for pain in the armpit??? I work full-time in the hospital and people in the ER are not turned away because they do not have a covid test on hand. I have been to the doctors office a few times since Covid first started and did not have to have a covid test on hand just to be seen briefly by a doctor. I completely understand screening patients for covid before seeing them but turning people away because there haven't recently had a covid test (especially when there was no reason for them to have one in the first place) is ridiculous and coming here was a complete waste of time.
