I was seen here over a year ago and apparently had a balance that had to be paid. The only communication I received from the office about this was a call about 2 weeks ago and when I called the office back the woman on the phone put me on hold and hung up on me. I've been here a couple of times. the very first time they gave me a topical steroid for what was a staph infection in my blood and the hospital doctor told me I had about a 30% chance of dying and that the topical steroid made things significantly worse. they don't give sick notes for work so don't waste your time/money/insurance. this place sucks and staff sucks. read more

Horrible! The website states they offer X-rays-- no mention that it's only on certain days. The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude telling me I needed to listen to her describe what the website said when she was wrong and the information had no bearing on getting me treatment for my potential fracture. Long wait times even with an appointment. My reason for urgent care was a lingering cough and chest pressure. The doctor recommended DayQuil but did not touch upon my chest pain. Will probably go somewhere else in the future read more

This is the second time I went in here for something and had to follow up at another hospital or ER. I have an infection in my thumb the PA there gave me antibiotics that did not work. Why didn't it? Cause it's not an antibiotic strong enough to get rid of the infection. So I've been suffering in pain since Thursday pumping my body full of unnecessary meds waiting for it to work. Now I've wasted more time, gotta take more time off work. Idk if it's ran by medical students but my first time there I was misdiagnosed with an ear infection put on antibiotics still had problems had to go to the VA to really find out what was wrong and again given different meds. Someone needs to check the level of care they give patients here. This could have been far worse. read more

AVOID THIS FACILITY. I went in during a Salmonella outbreak, but the dr refused to test me. She tested me for the flu, which came back negative, and when I asked for salmonella testing she told me there was nothing she could do. Still charged 100s of dollars. read more

Pros: My wait time was less than 15 minutes and the dr I spoke with had a good manner. Cons: Everything else. I was told by the dr that coming to the urgent care was pointless and to go the ER instead. I said okay, paid my $50 copay, and went to the ER. Well, I got a bill from the urgent care today. Apparently my visit, which was less than 10 minutes, cost over $200. I'm being charged for "medical services." I don't think they did a single thing except take my blood pressure. Absolutely dreadful place. The lady up front in reception was awful. Thankfully the young man giving me the test was excellent. This is a terrible place that would never survive if they were not poorly handling a pandemic and patients in need. Despicable place. So many bad reviews and Beth who was the rudest of all just brushes them all off with sorry we are busty. Yes there's a pandemic! Simple signs on the door. Don't go!!! No one picks up the phone! Misinformation!! They are happy to take your money but there is no follow up. Did PCR test while paying $249 (30min before my apportionment I got a text saying they are rising the price for covid tests) for it I was assured the results will take 3 days. Now is 5 days and I still don't have them!!! Update! After not being able get through with phone calls I decided to drive and ask in person on December 6th. Guess what?! My results came in on 3rd of December. No email no phone call to let me know. I'm sorry but if you are not able to execute your services then stop offering them!!!!! read more

12/30 - Finally a comment from owner and call from office manager (Rose) who offered me a partial refund after they acknowledged not sending any results. I was offered $100 for $159 test. The reason you are "overwhelmed" is because you cashed in - took people's money and didn't follow through and now you still want to keep people's money. I was not rude. I guess you expect people to be grateful for a half hearted gesture. Nice try trying to deflect. I did say that I would report you to MA AG - which I did - if you view that a "threat" that's on you. I am sure I am not the only one. The "hero" narrative from you is ridiculous. You are overwhelmed because you took the money (see the packed waiting room ignoring all COVID protocols) and now have to explain yourself. The truth obvious hurts. Look at the list of other negative reviews or maybe you're just too busy counting the cash. Massive money grab by AFC. Stopped by to get refund for $159 three (3) hour turnaround test taken on Monday - still no results. The office was closed (see notice from door below). Told by person who answered the door that I was supposed to come back in 3 hours after my test on Monday for my results (new news) or I would get them emailed to me (still no email). Return visits made no sense. I said I would take a refund or results. Neither was possible today - see sign that was on the door below. I was told I had to email the following and I would get a response in 5 business days as their phones were "broken" today: managers@afcurgentcare.com or rguerrier@afcurgentcare.com I appreciate the work healthcare workers (see initial post) do but when unscrupulous owners of private healthcare facilities look to maximize their gain based on people's fear - the line is drawn. Update as of 9:00AM - 12/22 - still no results from AFC Urgent Care from $159 3-4 hour test taken on Monday. No one answering the phone again this morning. Friend came through with an impossible to find self test kit - pic below. Is there a zero star option? Update as of 1:45PM - 12/21 - still no results. More frustrating is that no one is answering the phone at either the Watertown or Arlington location. Not even a "we are behind" message. I hope this isn't a testing site money grab. People need to get results in a timely fashion. Moved to 1 star Update as of 10:40AM - 12/21 - I paid $159 for a Rapid PCR test that had a turnaround of 3-4 hours. I was tested at 3PM yesterday (12/20) and have received nothing. I realize it was busy but 24 hours later with no updates is very poor. Moved to 2 stars. If you need test by a certain date/time which I did, this is not the place to go. Also little to no adherence to COVID social distancing guidelines. First review (12/20): Thank you - the office and parking lot were packed today. The entire team was very courteous and professional. GREAT JOB UNDER VERY DIFFICULT CONDITIONS. It took 3 hours from registration to testing - yes 3 hours - be prepared to wait. You are not the only person looking for a test. Truly a great place of you have the flu. I was suffering with RSV for about two weeks and it was terrible. When I could tell it was not subsiding - but getting worse I headed to Mount Auburn emergency room. Was there for three hours, x rays, blood works. They told me I had nothing but a touch of bronchitis and sent me on my way with no medication (typical of Mt. Auburn - go read their reviews) So I was miserable for another two weeks and it kept getting worse and worse. I decided to go to Urgent Care in Watertown and the receptionists were great and genuinely nice. After not too long a PA named Dr. Thien came in and within five minutes (without an x ray) she determined what I had. Slight pneumonia left over from the flu. She wrote me out a 5 day script called a Z pack and what do you know - within three days it was absolutely gone. I recommend Urgent Care and all the staff, it was a great experience and I feel so much better now. I just hate to think how much worse this would have gotten if I didn't go there. TLDR: Jason who works here is great and made my life so much easier today and the testing here is very efficient and you don't have to swab yourself so you know it's done right. Also I parked and typed this review while waiting for my results and got them in 15. Awesome. Anyways - You ever have an interaction with someone that just makes your day? Jason who works here (he took my info at the beginning, I believe he's a medical assistant) deserves a raise and beyond for making my day so much easier and me less anxious. I've had the worst luck getting covid tested. Places are always full or my appointments kept having issues. I need to go back to work and any testing center that offers rapid results start getting a line at 6 am when they open at 8 so I've been stuck. I was a little unsure of what to do because the AFC website is confusing and gives contradicting instructions but that's not the staffs fault at all, and Jason clarified everything I was having trouble with and made me feel like not so much of an idiot with covid right now the protocol is to walk up to the door but stay outside and they'll come to you. Jason walked out to the curb right away and was incredibly kind and funny and had me all set and being tested in less than 10 minutes (I booked an appointment ahead of time, just a heads up don't walk in but it's super easy to book online) Random other positive (or maybe negative in others book) - you check in and then walk back to your car. Really soon someone will come over (you'll know who I mean by the hazmat suit) and they'll ask you to roll down the window and (this is what I loved) they do the nasal swab for you. I've been tested one other time at a different chain of urgent cares and they handed me the swab and had me do it. But I was worried I didn't do it correctly. So that's a random bonus. Anyways yeah! I'm a fan of AFC but this was my first time going to Watertown and 10/10 read more

DO NOT Go HERE. Their COVID testing here is a bait and switch. This is the second year in a row we did not get results emailed or called to us ( the rapid test that reportedly takes under 3 hours to run and result and they verbally tell you they will email negative results and call with positive results - neither have happened). 140$ rapid antigen test was paid for upfront, then never resulted, and no way to contact them other than to show up back to the office and wait in line where you are told to create a portal to get results. Completely unable reach them by phone, email, or creating a patient portal account. No option to leave a message as their manager mailbox is always full. read more

Showed up at 8am to get a screening drug test for a new job. I waited in line outside in 30 degree weather with 6 other people because the staff was late to even open the doors. When staff showed up 10 minutes late, they told us to to continue waiting outside so they could open up the office. Then 10 minutes later they told us there was an "emergency" and they wouldn't open until 9am. What a total waste of my time- and I didn't even have an urgent medical need. I'd recommend going anywhere else. You can't even count on this place to be open. read more

Do not go here! They do not take proper COVID-19 precautions here. They allow people into the waiting room who have COVID symptoms, and don't even have them put proper hospital-grade masks on. They then encourage them to sit in the waiting room, where there is no social distancing in place. How stupid can you be to encourage this? I bet they're spreading more Covid than anything. I'd give 0 stars if I could. They also have you sign up for a time slot online when you book your appointment, but turns out, the time slot means nothing! It's actually first come first serve, so you go thinking you're showing up to an appt for 12:30 then they don't call you for another 2 hours! If you need reliable urgent care, go somewhere else. When we arrived today, the reception desk was empty. After about 5 minutes someone showed up, and we learned that the rapid Covid test we had reserved yesterday was unavailable. They had run out of tests yesterday and didn't bother to inform the "over a hundred" people scheduled for today. Given how much of the AFC patient experience involves their online portal, an automated email notification should have been easy, and would have saved us time and stress. read more

I went there and waited outside until was told we could come in, after about 30 minutes I peaked in to see what the wait was and she said oh, Im not sure why you were waiting out there ?? Once inside, I had to fill out all my info, which their wifi didnt work and they wouldnt provide a clipboard with paper instead. I waited another 30 minutes and then they told me they had no tests left!! So rude, waste of time. Definitely suggest going to ANY OTHER location of AFC than here. 0 Stars if I could. read more

Went to get a Covid test and was told that I was required to see a doctor first. However, for $199 I can just take the test now. FOH!

I prebooked an appt here for Covid testing, me and my sick toddler. It said my time is booked and I can finish registering at the desk when I get there. We arrive and it's a disaster, people everywhere but I felt ok since we had an appt. I was told to do an online registration by the front desk, waited a long time and decided to leave after 1.5 hours and not being tested. What a nightmare, I will never go here again ! read more

Surprisingly empty given the state of the world. The visit was fast and efficient. It smelled clean. There was no debris or visible soiling anywhere on the furniture. The staff was friendly. There was some intermingling as I waited but nothing raucous. I was brought to an office and had my weight taken asked a lot of questions about why I was there. I was brought to another room and waited for the doctor. She came in but never said her name. She was thorough and answered questions with confidence and never looked down at a computer like I was insignificant. The woman who drew my blood walked in and washed her hands before putting on gloves and explained what she was going to do and it was quick and painless. She said to tell them if they were doing a good job or what they weren't and they would fix it. I was directed to the exit and the front desk told me to have a good day which I thought was the extra mile. In a scary time it was a less scary experience. Thank you afc I'll be back read more

Without a doubt the worst urgent care I've ever visited. To start with, they have a large volume of patients seeking COVID tests, and there is no mechanism to separate these infectious patients. They are told to wait in the waiting room or just outside on the sidewalk (cannot wait in your car). Additionally, one of the healthcare providers walked around in between rooms in the clinic without a mask. Additionally, the clinic is dilapidated, there is no price transparency, and wait times are extraordinarily long. I went there to receive a COVID test, I was told to wait inside the clinic or just outside on the curb in the rain (I waited outside) for approximately 30 minutes. 2.5 hours later, after 4 people who arrived after me were seen I decided to leave. I really don't think these people know what a phone is, no kinda of urgency. I've called 25 times and counting. Of those 25 times, 4 of which a lady picked up and placed me on hold with no hesitation. Do not spend your hard earned money here, these people have no urgency as I previously stated. My 3 year old had a small splinter in her hand and my 8 month pregnant wife took her there. She reached there at 7.30pm but the clinic would not take them because they close at 8. I really want to love this place, as it's close to my house and the staff are nice, but they charged me for services I did not receive and their fees are outrageous in general. I made an appointment for a routine COVID test (with private insurance) two weeks ago, arrived 10 minutes early, and was told to wait in my car for over an hour. I was finally taken to a room where I waited another 30-40 minutes to be seen. Finally, the NP came in, did my nasal swab and left. Nobody took my vitals or asked me any medical questions at all, and yet I still received a bill for $238 for a "medical evaluation" appointment in addition to the actual cost of the test. If I'd actually been examined by a healthcare provider, I'd happily pay the fee, but I was not examined or assessed at any point unless you count sitting alone in the exam room and my car. In sum, I waited almost 2 hours to receive a 30 second nasal swab and was charged $238 for that wait time (plus the cost of the actual test). Absurd. These extra fees are a pattern with this particular place; I went in for a routine strep test pre-pandemic and was charged over $400 in various administrative fees, in addition to the cost of the strep test and the actual examination. Finally, if you test negative for COVID, AFC Watertown does NOT tell you. You do not receive any kind of confirmation that your test was negative, which leads to confusion over whether you tested negative or whether you might have simply missed the phone call or email saying you are positive and need to quarantine. The website claims this is because they have to perform so many covid tests that they are unable to give results to or contact patients who test negative unless they physically come back to the office, but follow up feels like a crucial part of the equation when it comes to covid. Bottom line? Don't go here if you have a choice, and if you do, be prepared to shell out big bucks for pretty subpar care. If you can, go to the AFC in Waltham (They are un-affiliated with AFC Watertown) or go to CareWell Urgent Care over at Fresh Pond. I've had much better experiences at both of those places. read more

Avoid this place. If you attempt to test here you will be deceived into thinking you have an appointment sooner than you will actually be tested. By the time you actually receive testing, you could have gone elsewhere. They charged us $289 for a test my son never received and my wife has spent 3 days on the phone trying to resolve the matter. I waited outside in the rain and then paid $250 out of pocket for a COVID test. I was told 48 to 72 hours for results but it's 5 days later and nothing. I can't even call this place. This same AFC attempted to charge my husband twice for a COVID test. For some unknown reason, this test cost $175. I am still waiting for my covid19 pcr test results. It is been almost one week. They charged me $249 for it though other urgent care sites like the one at freshpond charges you only $160. Both sites send the samples for PCR to Quest Diagnostics, which I confirmed either with the on-site personell or asked by phone. Ripping off people in this hard time of their financials is pretty cruel! You should be ashamed of yourself! The entire purpose of an urgent care center is to use its services when your doctor's office is closed, unavailable when you need it, or you otherwise have an illness or symptom that requires a maintenance check by a healthcare professional. You know this, right? I'd historically visited CVS MinuteClinics; and this was my first time in the AFC network, and it was a cinch. I showed up on a Saturday morning, filled out paperwork, paid the copay (equivalent to seeing any other doctor) waited about 10 minutes, and was brought into a private room for diagnosis.
