They are (mostly) a great medical team but the front desk staff are rude and condescending. You will never be able to get through to the call/scheduling line, it's truly a black hole. If you leave a message to get a call back from their scheduling department there's a 50/50 chance you'll get that call back and it will be a couple of days later. This is for the North Scottsdale office, and the scheduling department. The two stars are for the medical staff only. read more

If I could put negative Stars on this review I would. In 2019 affiliated dermatology butchered me with a removal and sent me to collections for $1000. I set up a payment plan with that collection agency and just now in 2023, I get another letter from a different collection agency with an ad on of $400 even though I've been paying that old collection agency for four years. Lucky for affiliated that old collection agency is now out of business and I can't receive any statements from them. Affiliated still claims I owe this $1400 beware do not go here. read more

Their PA told me I had scabies and gave me a cream to treat them. She then gave me ketoconazole, which burned half my skin off. It turns out what I had was an IRON DEFICIENCY that was preventing my skin from regenerating properly. After 10 days on an iron supplement, I was cured. My primary was horrified for me and told me never go back here. Some things are systemic. These specialists with their myopic view of healthcare. She could have read my labs very easily but chose not to and just glanced at my skin. I suffered immensely from going here. read more

I scheduled an appointment with a referral from my Primary Care Physician. It was easy to work with everyone involved including the people that coordinated the referral and scheduled the appointment. The front desk people were pleasant and attentive. The waiting room was spacious with socially distant spacing. Most importantly the nurse, Jacqueline, and her assistant, Tiffany, went above and beyond to make me comfortable. The visit was easy and pain free. I had to have a few shave biopsies and a few cryotherapy treatments, all of which were performed with expert care and precision. I am pleased with the entire experience. read more

my first negative experience is trying to make an appointment on the phone. after an appointment I was told to make an appointment on the phone. it's impossible. you will hold forever and I could not even get a call back. I had to go back to the office to make an appointment I saw dr DO. he did not seem to have any knowledge and prescribed the same remedy for the family. my skin problems go away and come back and go away just as before and has come back. a few weeks ago I had an appointment for a family member and I. I was told I owed them an extra 40 dollars of what was not covered by insurance which added insult to injury so I paid it and cancelled my appointments telling them I was done. I asked her if there was any other money owed so I could take care of it then and I was told no. this past week I received e mai saying I owed money and it needed to be paid or it would go to collections this was from last year so before my last appointment for my family member I went I to the office and spoke to them and they said dr DO was no longer with them because of complaints. I asked them if they could just wave the money and I would stay with them and make an appointment with another dr. They had No concept of customer service I had gotten horrible service from a doctor they knew was bad kept Getting bills that I asked if were existing and yet they still refused to even wave the 40 dollars to keep my business. It's like being sold a broken product but make you pay for it anyway. The office manager ( I'm assuming ) became indignent and rude about it. This office is very unprofessional and would rather lose all mine and my family' s. business for 40 dollars and get bad reviews thats not a good business. read more

Very unorganized office. They can't send the right prescriptions in, you have to follow up multiple times with them to get the RX sent to the pharmacy. They will cancel appts on you last minute because they were unprepared. read more

We just moved here from Washington, Saw Elizabeth ND Megan Np's . Very pleased with there diagnostic abilities. I had 3 biopsies, and all were Melanomas. They personally called me with the results, and we decided what to do. Had 1st dressing chge done by them. There Ma's were well trained and great personalities. My experience with Affiliated Dermatology is that I was scammed and tremendously overcharged. The Dr. I saw duplicated a procedure (took two scrapping from the same spot on my face) and double charged me. When I received the bill, I called to speak to billing and it went downhill from there. I reported them to the appropriate board. A few years ago, when that happened, there were many other reviews with the same types of stories of being horrendously overcharged and finding absolutely no resolution. Since then they continue to send advertisements to me even though I have asked them numerous times to stop. They simply do not care about their patients. read more

Don't even try to make an online appointment with this place because it will show you have an appointment, then a day before I got an email and text that it was no longer available. Also, if you want to see a Dr, good luck, as your wait will be 3 months, otherwise, you have to see a nurse for cancer screenings, biopsies, to get things burned off which I would never, ever do. read more

So, basically the worst medical group I've ever dealt with. I withdrew a two star review a few months ago because the staff called me asking me to and explaining that Covid has made a mess of everything. I went in June for a mole removal and they were running two hours late with a packed waiting room; this forced me to wait in the parking lot for two hours in 112 degree heat. they did not offer water and took close to a $100 co-insurance from me- though my max out of pocket was already met (They have yet to refund my money). Naturally, after two hours of rudeness, inability to update me, complete disorganization, no offer of water and heat exhaustion- I left the appointment. (after already two hours late, they called 20 minutes later to ask "where are you"?) I recently called to inquire about getting in again for my dermatologist to look at something else of concern and to ask what happened to my money they have conveniently been in possession of for six months. The receptionist was snippy, disrespectful and offered an appointment at the end of March! (four months out) This for an established patient, that first used this practice over ten years ago! There's no quality of care here, it's a cattle house (line em' up, get their money, get em' out). Everything feels rushed- total quantity over quality. Doctor Barr seems like he could care less about you and your concerns. Now I must press on to billing to try and retrieve my money. I would not recommend this practice. They've proven comprehensively over the years that they are not deserving of me or my money. And frankly, with as rushed as ever thing always seems here, I'm concerned that the doc and staff are providing inadequate care. read more

Bookkeeping is a joke. Had the wrong address so we never got a bill. Thought we had paid the bill so never knew that amount was still due until we received a letter from collectors. Called them and they were rude and unsympathetic. This was completely their fault and they took no responsibility! Will never use them again. read more

I went with my wife for a new rash that has popped up on her legs after delivering our son and had a TERRIBLE experience. First off, our appointment time was at 10am and she wasn't called until 10:40, with 3 other people called before who showed up way after. The customer service was just ridiculous. During this pandemic, she asked when scheduling the appointment if there were any restrictions and was told no, that I (her husband) would be fine to go back, well apparently it was okay for 3 other couples not us. I walked back with her, about to enter the room and the medical assistant let me know I had to go back to the waiting room. As I am sitting there waiting, another couple, husband and wife get to go back together. I was told, "it's situational." Needless to say, we will not be back as the doctor looked for 5 minutes and stated, "it's just eczema." read more

Never again. It is ironic how doctors offices ask us to be prompt for appointment times yet when we show with a packed waiting room there is no communication as to the pending wait time. DO NOT GO HERE! I paid in full during my visit and they decided to run a secret test and bill me for it two months later. When I was in the office they're trying to get you out of there so they rush through paper work so you don't have time to read it they say "we gotta get this removed now it's probably cancer" so I was panicking and crying and signed under duress. The medical assistant was very knowledgeable and kind and made me feel very comfortable with my first visit to the Anthem office. No one answers the phone, you're offered the option to hold, however, if you decide to hold, I've found that eventually you are forced to leave a message and then no one calls you back. There isn't any warm and fuzzy in the reception area with staff. It wasn't just me I heard the tone with others and you pay before you get anything done! Where else do you pay for something you haven't gotten? Wonder if they decided I don't need one part done or I need more done or something different ? I just had my second micro-needling treatment at Affiliated Dermatology with Kellie Dunlap. This is a great treatment for women of a certain age and I am so excited about my results. Kellie was very professional and informative and really took time to explain every step of the process to me, including after-care. I just wanted to do a shout out to Jillian Goldney. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to have her treat me six months ago. I came in for something minor and she offered a skin check. At first I had declined and said I was fine and then changed my mind during the appointment. I can tell you I'm not sorry that I did she noticed some irregular issues on my skin and has been taking care of them completely. Just recently I was back in having my six month check on my skin and once again she noticed some issues but took care of them as well. She's an extremely professional nurse practitioner and definitely has a keen eye for problems with the skin . She is helpful accommodating and extremely kind . I recommend her to anyone Who is looking for someone that will stay on top of medical issues with the skin. I'm an existing patient, been seen multiple times for routine screening appointments. I've have biopsies done here and I had to call weeks later to receive results. ABNORMAL results! That's not acceptable to me. I have given this practice multiple opportunities because I understand these things happen in busy practices. This morning I called to schedule an appointment for a concern on my face that I've been struggling with for a few weeks. I was told I have to schedule 2 and a half weeks ahead since I don't have a referral. When I said I can get a referral on Monday from my PCP I was told I still have to wait for them to process it, even though they have appointments available. I am in the health care field so I understand the dynamics of medical practice and insurance and I find this unacceptable. I will take my business elsewhere. From a practice manger, offer your patients alternatives. Maybe a cash pay option- I am uncomfortable enough to have paid to be seen immediately. read more

I have been visiting Affiliated Dermatology for many years and it has always been a very positive experience. I've seen Dr. Barr mostly who has always been very professional but I have also been seen by others, just recently by NP Jillian who was terrific. Spent time with explanations and answered all my questions. I trust everyone completely and have always been treated with respect. Very seldom have had to wait although they are more busy now than when I first started going there and getting an appointment isn't quite as easy. We went to the Anthem office to get surgery on my son's arm where he had a mole removed that had come back with a very bad result after his biopsy (they treated him as if it was melanoma). That was the day AFTER he turned 18. They allowed me in the room at that time because the doctor had to go over the results and plan for the procedure to take care of everything. 3 days later, he had to go back again and at this visit Amanda (the supervisor) told me that I'm NOT allowed in the room with him but she will "LET" me stay in the waiting room since there were no one else there.....are u kidding me?? Where the heck did she want me to wait? In the parking lot? She was SO RUDE about it too! WE waited OVER a month to get results back from his mole removal and I was the one who called in since so much time passed and I didn't hear anything back from them. MAYBE if they would have been more proficient on getting back to us in a timely manner, my son's procedure would have been completed BEFORE he turned 18!! I think it's ridiculous that I couldn't go back because of "covid" especially since my son was really nervous and wanted me in the room. Susan, ironically, I tried to call your office upon receipt of your request to private chat and your receptionist put me on hold. I hung up after waiting for several minutes. I just tried to private message and get an "oops, something went wrong message." I totally understand things not going smoothly with a new system. What was frustrating is that fact that I spoke to a person the day before to confirm the appointment and verify what I would owe--that person never mentioned having to redo paperwork. When I arrived at the office, I waited patiently to give the receptionist my license and insurance card, after a few minutes she told me to sit down because there were many others in front of me. So I waited for 20 minutes until time for the appointment at which I was summoned and given an iPad with instructions to do everything over. I explained that I had an appointment that morning and asked if they were on time. The receptionist replied we are on time but can't do anything until the paperwork is complete. Not sure how your office determines "on time," but in my world being asked to do paperwork at the time of the appointment, means the appointment is already late. When I suggested I needed a better timeline the receptionist turned her back and walked away. Besides the rudeness of this situation, all could have been easily remedied when I arrived by saying, "Hey, welcome to the office, I'm really sorry but we have changed systems and need you to redo the paperwork, here's your iPad." Courtesy goes a long way. read more
