I just wanted to share the great experience we had with Dr. Nelson and his sweet assistants Marcela and Denyse. My 17 year old had her wisdom teeth removed and I was anxious about it. The way everyone cared for us like we were family will not be forgotten. Dr. Nelson was vigilant and caring, what more could you ask for in a surgeon?! The assistants were so professional and engaged, Stellar had a great time with them. His wife Allison was a Godsend to a mother. DR NELSON IS A GODSEND!!!! Before hearing about, and being referred to Dr. Nelson, I had unfortunately experienced oral surgery from another surgeon who turned out to be negligent and was responsible for weeks of severe unnecessary pain. That doctor had extracted a tooth, put in a bone graph and placed a membrane due to a small perforation in my sinus cavity. With that other doctor, I was scheduled for one follow up visit but the intense pain I was experiencing necessitated 4 return visits within 2 weeks. I felt strongly that I had developed an infection from the procedure and requested an antibiotic. She refused, claiming there was no infection. She took no tests or CT scan to rule out an infection. Instead she was rude, dismissive and acted like I was making up the level of pain I was experiencing. After a month of her completely inappropriate behavior as my pain increased, I went to Dr. Nelson (referred by my dentist) to get a second opinion. Dr. Nelson saw me immediately and took a 3D scan which evidenced that my whole left sinus cavity was filled with infection. The smell of sulfur was overwhelming, the pain in my head and face was at a level 8-9 at all times. Dr. Nelson put me on an antibiotic and performed surgery 2 days later to check for contamination in the bone graft and clear the infection. Immediately following his procedure I was so pleased!! I had no more sulfur smell and the pain I had been dealing with for weeks had dissipated only leaving minor sensitivity from the new surgery. Reluctantly, I had to give Dr Nelson a call on a Saturday at 4pm because I was feeling a burning sensation in my mouth, which I believed was due to the strong antibiotic. He answered his phone right away, he was so kind and compassionate and he called me in a prescription to help with my burning mouth that had nothing to do with the surgery. He was so communicative that one pharmacy was closed and he took the time to call me and ask which other pharmacy I preferred. My mouth settled down immediately. On Monday, I called his office to see if I could move my followup appointment to be seen by him sooner than Wednesday. I spoke to his office staff and even though he wasn't in until Wednesday, his office staff were so pleasant and helpful. Literally a minute after hanging up with his office, Dr Nelson called me right back. He was with his family driving to Joshua tree and couldn't have been more kind, compassionate and I told him there was no problem and i would see him on Wednesday. In closing, I just finished both of my followups with Dr Nelson today. His staff is wonderful and caring. I'll be seeing him again in June to finish the work started by the other surgeon. I am hopeful that I dont need any more dental work done as far as implants, however if I do, Dr. Nelson will be the first and only doctor I would call. About four years ago, I was new to the area, and my dentist recommended Dr. Nelson for five extractions. He was friendly, caring, and above all, listened. The procedure went flawlessly, and I was amazed to receive a personal call from him afterward. Now, 4 years later, I decided to go with dentures. He extracted 21 teeth in about 2 hours. And again, he gave me a personal follow-up call afterwards. His office is nice, clean, and his people are great as well. He also has a good sense of humor, as I mentioned that I had watched Little Shop of Horrors the night before the procedure. Choosing a dentist and an oral surgeon is really a shot in the dark for most people. I feel blessed that between my dental team and him, I will be just fine. I went in for a consult and the doctor was very sarcastic. He made me feel uncomfortable, I don't think he wants to work in this field. People DO NOT waste your time & money go to another office. I had such a positive experience with my wisdom teeth removal with Dr. Nelson and his team. All four of my wisdom teeth were impacted and were not going to be an easy surgery. Dr.Nelson was informative and caring and I knew what to expect going in. The day of I was anxious and the Surgical assistant Marcela, instantly made me feel so much more comfortable. She was professional, genuinely caring, and kind. Before I knew it I was asleep, and I woke up not remembering anything. They took great care after the procedure and helped me get into the vehicle I would be leaving in. Dr. Nelson gave a very prompt follow up call and was truly available for any concerns or question I had post-op. It's been a week and I am healing well. The follow up appointment was quick, his team was so friendly and I felt confident leaving knowing how to take care of myself as I continue to heal and that I'm healing normally! First, I'm very anxious about teeth being extracted, and don't like any pain!! This is my second time this year in 2022 that I needed to have teeth extractions performed, first time early 2022, upper/lower back wisdom teeth were extracted, avoiding an unnecessary root canal and now in October 2022, molar, #19, lower jaw extracted, along with Dr Nelson installing an implant and adding cadaver bone during the same procedure!! Both times, I had a consultation visit with Dr Nelson, where he explained everything about procedure and what to expect. I have been to both of his office locations, and his staff is very professional, caring and very responsive to all of my questions and great at follow up. I never heard about Dr Nelson prior to 2022 and he was recommended by both by current dentist and another specialist, and so very happy they did! I had both procedures in 2022 done at the Phoenix location. Absolutely amazing!! No swelling, no pain, very little bleeding at all, I sometimes wondered whether he even extracted the teeth! Follow up calls by Dr Nelson and his staff to see how I was doing were comforting. Great experience and I would recommend him and his staff without hesitation!! Entire staff do a great job, not to mention, that Dr Robert's the anesthesiologist, who I used both times, did the sedation and it was amazing!! Dr. Nelson and staff are so amazing. Professional and friendly! I had 23 teeth extracted and was under gas and an IV for anesthesia and the procedure was 90 minutes. I had no pain after, no bleeding after and no soreness or pain. I did not even need an ibuprofen. The stitches were so tight and healed so well. I was prescribed steroids and penicillin which was to prevent swelling, inflammation and infection which I had neither. I couldnt believe how i recovered and even the anesthesia was calculated perfectly so I was not groggy or out of it. I didnt even need a nap when i got home. Dr.Nelson is an amazing Oral surgeon! God bless him, I had excruciating pain from my wisdom teeth oh my god, it was so bad! And on to of it I am TERRIFIED of the dentist! But I knew I had to go in. 1st off the staff is very professional, they greeted me as soon as I arrived & already had all my dental insurance processed Whoever designed the bathroom had great taste I love the all black decor The X-Ray machine was state of the art, none of those painful X-Ray chips the machine swivels around your head to X-ray, it was really cool Dr.Nelson was very professional, Def a family man, he told me exactly what was wrong & what he was going to do, I needed 3 Extractions, I was sedated which eased all my anxiety because my heart was beating out of my chest at the time, but I All I remember is talking to the assistant, then next thing I know she was waking me up! My daughter had all four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Nelson. She had been to him a couple of years ago to have another tooth removed, so we were already familiar with him. His bedside manner is superb, and he makes you feel safe and comfortable in his care. Once again, we were super impressed and pleased with the doctor, his office staff, and the anesthesiologist! Dr. Nelson pulled an upper right wisdom tooth (I'm 64 yo), used localized novacane, I felt nothing and after the tooth was out I had to ask the Dr. if I was done. From start to finish including administering the novacane it took all of 15 minutes. Dr. Nelson is assuring and professional. read more

I can't say enough about this place. Dr. Nelson removed my wisdom teeth a few days ago and the buildup, surgery, and recovery couldn't have gone smoother. The surgery was quick and the bounce-back was incredible. Most of my friends were out for a week after getting their wisdom teeth removed, but I was back on my feet feeling very little pain and almost no swelling in just a day or two. I recently went to Dr. Nelson and had a tooth extracted and a bone graft. Was not looking forward to it but was so surprised at how gentle and kind Dr. Nelson and his assistant Miranda were to me. They offered gas to assist with the procedure and it worked beautifully. They did a great Job and were so very Nice to me. The office staff is very professional and everyone was on time and they explained everything in great detail. I was also very impressed that Dr. Nelson phoned me later that afternoon to check in on me and make sure I had his cell phone number if I needed him for anything. That is very rare. Had a second tooth (molar) pulled the other day as they were conveniently open on Labor Day so I didn't miss any work and had the rest of the day to chill. Again, the procedure was quick from start to finish and I was home before I knew it. They do give you the option of being sedated for the 20 or so minutes it takes to pull a tooth and that's what I opt for. I don't need to be present to get the same exact results. They did have a new assistant this time that obviously needed guidance & oversight, but it went well with no problems. As usual, Dr. Nelson did a great job with very good chair-side manner, and while I was still coming out of sedation, took the time to discuss the results of the procedure and post-op care with the friend who drove me home. He even gave me a follow-up call later in the day to check on me. Nice touch Doc! read more

Yes there was a little pain that followed but he was so kind to call me over the weekend (my surgery was on a Friday) to see how I was doing. He also told me to call if I needed anything whatsoever. Today Dr Nelson extracted an upper rear tooth. I have to say both he and his staff were very caring. I had laughing gas and local anesthetic. I was not in the chair more than 10 minutes and was surprised to learn the extraction was over. By the way I have an innate fear of dentistry, but if needed I would return to Dr. Nelson. Several hours after I wrote this at about 6:30 pm Dr Nelson called to check on me. Said if there was any issue to call him on his cell. A big plus. read more

My brother was referred to Dr. Nelson to have all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed. Getting an appointment scheduled right away was easy, getting my brother to actually go was the hard part! He is a nervous wreck and terrified of any doctor. During his initial exam Dr. Nelson talked to him about the procedure and what he could provide to help my brother stay calm and have a great experience. My brother felt comfortable and at ease once he was informed of the options available to help his dental anxiety. The front office staff is amazing start to finish. From the first call, to explaining the way his insurance would help with the surgery. My brother was able to get in for his surgery the following week. He came in and the wait time was minimal, the assistant took him back and once again informed him of everything that would be done. While me and my family waited they had a movie playing and some interesting books to read. Next thing we know my brother is done! They scheduled us a follow up visit a week out and when my brother came out he said all was good and that he is healing just fine. I was reffered to Dr. Bode from my dentist in downtown Phx for a wisdom tooth extraction. I had my reservations when I went in because I dont like mouth surgery (at least I dont like being awake for it). But I came in with my list of questions and he answered them ALL very thoroughly. The procedure cost more than I had hoped but our insurance picked up over half of it. The morning of surgery I went right in, he and his staff made me feel very comfortable and WHILE I was waking up from the anesthesia, he thoroughly informed my husband on my aftercare, making him watch a movie and answering a lot of questions. he told him what to expect day-to-day in my recovery and how to make me comfortable. I had some swelling for several days after, but not much pain, he did a great job with the stitches and dry-socket medicine to prevent dry-socket. I was impressed with him and his office :) read more
