Got three of my wisdom teeth out at separate times from Darrel B. Sims and everyone there is a sweetheart! I got the last two out in 2017 with no issues and then the latest one now on my upper right last Thursday. While the location is far from where I am, it was worth the recommendation from my family member! I did all of them without being put to sleep. In 2017 when I was getting it done he even had his dog there by the glass door! This time I had to get my upper wisdom tooth and adult tooth (shark tooth) that was growing behind my baby tooth out due to not being able to afford braces. While the price is a bit steep the 20% discount is helpful! This time I wasn't TOO much of a fan when they were getting my adult tooth out because he was tugging on my two front chompers but I wasn't in that much pain, just discomfort. I am going for a post-op checkup hopefully this week to make sure everythings good! I'm just a bit worried due to my baby tooth still being there and it feels a tiny bit wiggly but the girl said teeth can be mobile after trauma and an operation so hopefully shes right! read more

If I could, I'd give ZERO stars. On 11/30/2022 I had to contact Dr. Sims office to request that a new pre approval be submitted to my insurance carrier for wisdom teeth extractions. The manager is rude, disrespectful and NOT willing to listen to my/patients needs. She also made me feel less because I am an AHCCCS participant. She kept bringing up that because of me being on AHCCCS it was going to be very hard for her to get my procedure approved (I had already called my insurance carrier to confirm wisdom teeth extractions were covered. Dr Sims had to re submit correct pre approval documents.) I had to beg her, and asked her numerous of times to please be gracious and just resubmit the pre approval request but she told me she wasn't. She did not provide a valid reason as to why she didn't want to resubmit pre authorization documents to my insurance carrier. I also felt that she discriminating against me because I am Hispanic and she canceled my extraction appointment that was already scheduled and pre approved through my insurance. (I will be filing a complaint with my state's Attorney General's office.) Now, I will have to seek a new provider, pay for another evaluation and my treatment will be delayed. This has been the worst service I've ever encountered. After further research, this provider has had numerous of complaints regarding unsatisfactory service. read more

This oral surgeon earned every star! The experience today was perfect! I had an extraction of a broken tooth, upper left side. This also required a bone graft. I opted for the full sedation. I was asleep during this entire procedure. No pain what so ever! The staff was also very kind and professional. I highly recommend this office! I am at home now and feeling fine. I did have a couple of dry heave moments but my stomach had nothing in it. These passed quickly and I am feeling no pain. I will not hesitate to have future dental work done here. If I could give them less than a star I would. My 16 year old daughter needs her wisdom teeth taken out. This dr. would not agree to see her unless I signed an agreement that I would not be in the room during the procedure. What parent in their right mind would allow their child to be under anesthesia while in a room with a strange dentist? It isn't like you can develop a bond of trust with a doctor you only see once before the surgery. They said it was due to "safety protocol." Who is looking out for the child's safety? read more

But sure ill fork over $300 because yall can't get your dr to make a simple note on a letter or even call me to discuss other options. He listened to my concerns and explained the process in simple terms. He genuinely cares for his patients and wants what is in the best interest for each patient. His office is clean and comfortable. They're using old technology. They're not careful about germs and they recommend extensive work. Unnecessary paperwork that you'll have to sign just Incase the procedure doesn't go right and for the adult to not go inside with their kid. STAY AWAY! Incredibly disrespectful head nurse, she's hateful and if you have any type of anxiety she has no patience. The doctor is nice but almost bipolar. Sometimes he has good bed side manner, other times he kicks you out for flinching at the needle. Seems they only care about getting paid and getting out. DO NOT!!! I REPEAT DO NOT go to this office! My daughter has special needs and needed her wisdom teeth out. We went for her first visit and despite clearly writing out her medical history including hearing loss the dentist never once looked at me to explain her procedure. He made us watch an out dated video and pretty much let them explain the process. That should have been a red flag but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because we had a difficult time finding someone to take my daughters insurance. We go in for her procedure and I ask if he will come to speak with me. The front office girl was extremely defensive and said "well weren't you her to watch the video" I said yes but he never spoke to me directly to explain to me what exactly was going to be done. Also I wanted to ensure that they knew my daughters needs. NOPE he never came out... so they take her back and after about 5 minutes or so I hear a little commotion so I kept still to make sure it wasn't my daughter. About 10 seconds later I hear a loud cry and scream! So I go to the girl at the front desk to ask if that is my daughter screaming and she said yes. So I asked her why is she in agony back there and can I go back to see if she's ok. She said with a straight face "no one can go back there"! I hear her screaming again so I threatened to call the cops. So she immediately got up and went to the back so of course I'm looking and trying to hear what she's telling them. Next thing I know the dental assistant is trying to tell me that my daughter is ok. Clearly she wasn't because she's crying. I'm telling her she's not ok and as I'm speaking with the dental assistant my daughter comes out crying unable to speak clearly very distraught and scared with her mouth numb she's drooling! She told me that he was hurting her and she told him to stop and the dental ads kept telling her she was fine as she was screaming and that the dentist kept stretching her mouth open. She had tears on her lips and tongue. The staff was treating us like we did something wrong, they were rude. The dentist NEVER came out to see me they pretty much just kicked us out and already had my copay refunded before I even asked for it. Wow! They are rude and insensitive! Do not go there!!! I am writing this after the cops and fire department were called and recommended that I take her to the ER to make sure that he didn't dislocate my daughter's jaw. On another note they were talking negatively about patients who were on the phone as well, I thought wow do they not know I am sitting right here!? Be careful! read more

I never in my life have had such a pleasant experience at a doctors office than when I had a surprise visit to this office while I was in Phoenix for work. I'd gotten my wisdom teeth out two weeks prior and had some bleeding all of a sudden which caused me major anxiety. My surgeon in DC offered me two names of oral surgeons in Phoenix both of which led to disconnected numbers. I went on Yelp, deciding to take matters into my own hands, and pulled up Dr. Sims. I called and was connected with a pleasant woman who scheduled me a last minute appointment an hour and a half later. I showed up, was escorted immediately into a room where an assistant asked me some questions, showing genuine interest in what was bothering me even though I wasn't one of their patients. I felt cared for by complete strangers! She looked in my mouth and told me that everything looked good from what she could see, handed me a plastic apparatus for flushing out the holes created by the surgery, and told me the doctor would be in shortly. He was by my side in less than a minute , looking into my mouth to see if everything was indeed copacetic. He looked at me and confirmed nothing was amiss and that I was a-OK and sent me on my way, but not before requesting that the lady at the desk waive the $60 non-patient fee. I was shocked! All of this care for free? I hopped, skipped and jumped out of there with a big grin on my face- first, from knowing dry socket or infection were just paranoid fears, and second, because I'd had the most pleasant doctors experience ever. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling that has stayed with me and is why you should go to this office for any oral-related medical needs! read more

I had the displeasure to go to Dr. Darrell Sims' office to pick up some paperwork for my wife. My wife, by the way, had called the office the days before requesting the paperwork and was informed it would be ready for pickup. No mention of she needed to personally pick it up. Once I arrived, at the office I entered and informed the person behind the desk, why I was there. Keep in mind the paperwork was sitting on the counter ready for pickup. Once I told the person behind the desk that I was there for the paperwork, her body language and tone immediately changed, and she informed me that I could not pick up the paperwork, because of privacy, which was fine with me. I asked her if she could call my wife and get verbal permission, but she would not do this, as she tells me that she must have authorization paperwork completed. I asked if the paperwork could be faxed to my wife and sent back, but she informs me that my wife must be present to sign the paperwork. At this point, I am mad, because I had driven 40 minutes to get to this office. I asked was I on any of the paperwork stating that I could pick up these documents, and her answer was that it was not of their procedure. Again, I become mad because whenever I have attended any physician or dentist office that is a required form. I ask for the form and informed her that I would return with the signed paperwork, and again the answer was she needed to be present. I inform her that anytime I have filled out this type of document and faxed it over or uploaded it online, it didn't require me to be present. Long story short, the person at this office, DAWN, was completely rude, and unprofessional in her approach to customer service. If Dr. Darrell Sims' office was the last dental office on the face of the earth, I would avoid it. If this office was on fire, I would not waste my spit on it to save it. Lastly, if you need any form of dental work that needs to be performed, LOOK ELSEWHERE! If you must go to this office, steer clear of DAWN, as she is a *ITCH.
