On Feb 21, Dr Day punched a giant hole connecting mouth to nose on my daughter's maxilla while pulling out two impacted wisdom teeth. Next day he started prescribing huge amount of Oxycodone even the pharmacist had to call his office to confirm. 2 weeks later he finally admitted the mistake after our regular dentist called his office twice. Dr Day stitched up the hole which he called "no big deal" and charged us a "discounted" $955. He refused to provide any medical & consultation records but one of his sympathetic assistants emailed it to me after hours. All his staff have been very caring and supportive but Dr Day is just such a brutal, greedy and arrogant butcher. read more

Dr. Reed Day is a very talented surgeon that profoundly changed my life for the good. He performed a bilateral jaw joint replacement with custom prosthetic joints. This is major surgery with a long list of potential complications. I am so happy with the results and process of working with Dr. Day and his staff. I've participated in a global FB group of people that had the same surgery that Dr. Day did for me. Their "top" docs usually take 8-10 hours to complete the surgery with about 5+ days in the hospital. My surgery was about 2 hours (1 hour/side) and comfortably home in less than 24 hours. Less time under anesthesia with a skilled surgeon makes all of the difference. I am now fully recovered with none of the potential complications (except a bit of scalp numbness -no big deal.) I had 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted on 02/26/2021 and I would first off like to say, this practice is very professional, kind, understanding, and flexible. I came in my day of surgery quite nervous for the procedure and the whole staff and nurses were all so patient, gentle, and kind with me , including Dr day. I was informed of all things that were happening before the procedure began and it helped ease my fear of procedures. Dr day does not lie when he tells you the healing process should go by smooth and quickly. I'm 6 days post op and 98% back to normal. I had very minimal swelling and the healing was so quick! I am shocked! I heard from other people who have had their wisdom teeth extracted that they had a month of recovery but I'm back to eating and have no swelling and no pain anymore. I'm so grateful for the staff and the support they offered me before and after the procedure from the anxiety to ensuring I left the center safely and comfortably. I am so Glad I found this doctor. He surely is one of the BEST I ever met. So professional. He has gantle hands. I healed from wisdom surgery so queekly also thanks to him. Had my upper, lower, palette and chin done by doctor Day in feb of 2008. 10 years later and I am still dealing with nerve pain and numbness. My last follow up with him was six months after procedure. When I told him I still was numb he said the only thing he could try is to redo the surgery. Wish I would have never had the surgery done. read more

My almost 17 year old daughter has orthognathic (double jaw reconstructive) surgery here in July 2014. Dr. Day came well recommended and while I was entirely put off by his self-promotion (degrees mentioned and from how far away his patients came to see him) during the consultation, my daughter was comfortable and that is what mattered. She had a palate expander in place from her orthodontist prior to the surgery. Dr. Day was clearly aware of this as he advised that it had to be removed in order to remove the procedure. The one major issue post surgery? She has a fistula (hole) in her palate now. Every complication was listed before the surgery....except this one. He tried to fix it three months later, stitches and the fistula broke open again. He was kind enough to tell me twice "I won't even charge you to fix this!!" As I expressed my frustration, he threw her before and after pictures down on the table in front of me, "remember how you were so excited, jumping up and down after her surgery?" Condescending and arrogant doesn't even describe it. One of his assistants was in the room at the time and was fortunate enough to witness. We've now seen her primary care physician, an ENT and two craniofacial plastic surgeons. Two attempts at repair and she still has a fistula in the roof of her mouth. If he had mentioned it as a complication, we would have understood. If he had mentioned after the fistula began that there was only a 50% success rate with each repair, we would have understood. Nothing but arrogance and a God-complex displayed. The ONLY saving grace in that practice is his kind and attentive staff. Everyone in that office is an asset to him. read more

It's 2005 and I was referred to my normal dentist to Reed for some extra teeth that were under my gum line. Nothing really affected me but Reed suggested that he remove 3 wisdom teeth and 2 extra teeth below my gum line on my right lower side of my jaw. So a total of 5 teeth. Little did I know he was going to CUT AWAY my gum line and expose the roots of my existing teeth that were FINE. He claimed it would be fine and the gums would grow back, they never did. The exposed sections of the roots caused infection in my gums and I lost a molar and am probably going to lose another one this year. I haven't been able to chew solid food on the right side of my mouth for the past 9 years. ridiculous. I'm currently looking for an oral surgeon to hopefully rectify this HACK JOB that Reed left me with nearly 9 years ago. Every day of my life I regret going to Reed and after showing the results to my regular dentist, he stopped referring patients to Reed. Even the desk attendants were pushy about the surgery saying I should have them all removed in one session vs having them done in two sessions. Clearly this office is money hungry and they don't care about the patient's well being post surgery. read more

The Good--Dr Day is well educated, very capable, and instills confidence that in his patients that your procedure will be completed successfully. Also they can get you in quickly for your initial visit and follow-up visits. The Bad--he took out all four of my wisdom teeth, and I had to make two more visits for him to finish the job and get the remaining shards out. The Ugly-- He's very arrogant, his professionalism is subpar, and he's insulting to his patients at time. When I came in the last time for him to remove the last part of the tooth he missed the previous two visits, he rubbed some ointment on the area to numb it. So as he comes towards my mouth with what looked like pliers to "snip" the tooth off, I asked if there was going to be any local anesthesia, his reply was the ointment was good enough and to "stop being a wimp". I was kind of shocked but knowing he's got these pliers in my mouth, I figured I'd laugh it off. Well then when he poked the side of my cheek with the pliers trying to get to the tooth, I kind of flinched. Woops, my mistake! He slings the pliers and mirror onto the tray, tells the assistant to get a local, and storms off. I had read reviews on another website of Dr. Day and they pretty much said the same thing. But I figured, i'd give him a shot anyway as my situation is a little more complicated that impacted, adult wisdom teeth. I don't regret going to him, but I can't recommend him. read more

Dr Day promised to give my boyfriend a set of perfect teeth. What Brady (my bf) got instead was botched dental treatment. To begin with, Dr Day failed to properly evaluate whether Brady had sufficient bone for all these implants. He failed to identify where the nerves were in relation to where he was going to insert the implants. The implants were put in too close together; they were improperly angled; there were too many implants; He almost put an implant into Brady's sinus. Later we were asked to pay a full price again to have a complete do-over. read more

I've read all the negative reviews so decided to write my experience. Dr.Reed was very kind and friendly to me. He took my wisdom tooth out and it literally took less than 5 minutes. I didn't feel any pain but I have a good tolerance for pain. The front office was clear about how much it would cost, and my insurance covered it all. Maybe not the warmest and friendliest receptionists but I wasn't there to chit chat with them either. They did their job well and I am glad I went. He reviewed the procedure as well as all of the options, gave me a very long consultation so I could make an informed decision. He promised he could do the work without challenge and he did. To be straight, Dr. Day was completely unprofessional and rude during my procedure when getting my wisdom teeth out. I made it very clear during my first appointment and before my procedure that I had a serious fear of needles. He just should have acted way more professional than he did. I did shockingly better than normal, I just wanted something to hold my hand so that I didn't flinch when the needle went in. He was in such a hurry that he kept complaining that I was being immature. Typically, with any type of needle I get in, I get extremely nauseous and pass out. Everyone has something that they can't handle, and that happens to be mine. He repeatedly asked my dad how old I was, reiterating the fact that I was way too old to be acting like this. All I did was cry a little bit. It wasn't until making all these rude, unprofessional and just disgraceful. He made me feel uncomfortable to the point that where I wasn't even crying over the needle, I was just crying over the fact that he was being a jerk. Definitely is not cut out to be a doctor when it comes to patient/doctor relations. He clearly does not have the mental stability to be undergoing a procedure where a patient in under. He became insanely furious over me shedding a tear, and proceeded to put me under anesthesia to do who knows what to me. It took me nearly 3 months to be able to eat like normal again because my jaw was so bruised. I wonder if this was his carelessness or fit of anger taking over him during the procedure. I 100% do not recommend. UPDATE: It has been nearly a week since my surgery. I have nerve damage from the removal. This just proves to me that Day was not in the right mind or mental state to be in surgery that day, and it was reckless. He was angry at me for being afraid of a needle, and could clearly not control his anger and made a vital mistake because of his state of mind. During my initial appt, Dr Day claimed he had never damaged a nerve before and assured me it was extremely unlikely to happen. When I brought this up to him, he said "no. I never said that. I said I never CUT a nerve." Well, then he should've explained the chances of damage were a lot higher than fully cutting it, that was extremely misleading and he knows he was choosing his words carefully and not explaining them on purpose. During my follow up, he did apologize with an arrogant tone that I did not appreciate. He claims I will make a full recovery in 6 weeks, but based on other reviews for formers pts, he's said the same and they never recovered. I got a second opinion from another oral surgeon, who said there's no way of knowing the extent of the damage and only time will tell. I'll take my pick on who's trying to be the salesman and who's trying to tell the truth. I've been in so much pain, I can't sleep. I tried calling the emergency line last night, and Dr Day himself was on call. They tried getting ahold of him for an hour and were never able to reach him to help me. Instead, an assistant finally reached out to me. He apparently does not know what it means to be a doctor who's on call. Ridiculous. I wish more and more everyday that I would have never met him. He is not a doctor and should not have the privilege to be called one, he is a GLORIFIED SALESMAN at best. Do not use him. Do not give him your money. There is a response to this review, claiming me to be a fake patient. I have had this comment on every single website I've reviewed. My full name is not on yelp (it's my middle name, last initial), but on other websites my full name is on there. Facebook, google and heathgrades. They claimed the same thing. I have all the paperwork from insurance and liability stating I was in fact a patient and had this procedure done. Feel free to reach out of anyone wants to see that paper work. If six stars were an option, that would be my rating for Dr. Day. I have seen Dr. Day on three different occasions, for three separate procedures. My first visit was to have the shattered remains of a wisdom tooth removed, after a botched attempt by another dentist. Quick, easy and painless - in a matter of minutes, the horrible pain from raw nerve endings was gone, and I was on the road to recovery. My second visit was to have a scary, fatty blob of tissue removed from my inner gum. I was scared and nervous - and Dr. Day was calm, reassuring and professional. Fatty blob gone, all was well! My third visit was this past week. One of my molars literally broke in two, leaving exposed nerves and unimaginable pain. Dr. Day's office was amazing - they squeezed me in IMMEDIATELY after I called their office, and Dr. Day removed what was left of the fractured tooth. This entire office is friendly, professional, and I have recommended Dr. Day to numerous friends over the years. HIs manner is calm and relaxed, yet he is exceedingly competent and professional....especially for those of us with a lot of anxiety about sitting in the dentist's chair. I have another tooth that needs attention soon, and I can't imagine going to another oral surgeon to have the work performed. Cheers! :-) read more

Like most reviewers, it seems people either give Dr. Day a 5 or a 1 b/c there's nothing lower. As someone with an extensive dental history, I also found Dr. Day to be charming and informational at the first visit. But let me warn you now to run, run, run! You are just another mouth in very a long line, and don't let the fancy pedigree fool you. Dr. Day is charming, but my "easy" implant posts were the most painfully excruciating dental procedure I've ever had, and when I returned due to the pain was told "oh, it happens -sorry". It happens because Dr. Day is arrogant and complacent. I'm not at all surprised by Elizabeth W.'s post. Only later would I find out that a friend had four wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Day, to learn at her next regular dental appointment that several root fragments had been left behind and may become an issue later. Wish I had known that before I agreed to use him. His billing office is a total scam, so be prepared to pay far more than you're quoted. This is not a review of Dr Reed Day, but his billing staff, particularly Lori. My 25 year old step-son had wisdom teeth removed, and is on my dental insurance. Last time I checked, every dentist clears your insurance eligibility, then you pay upfront for your portion of the procedure. This was done, and my wife payed $700 at time of service. 60 days later we get a bill for an additional $942.40, and it says placed for collection. I called 3 times when I saw this, before 11am, after 1pm and every time I get an answering service as they are out of office. Today, I did get a call back from Lori. I naturally was disputing the bill, and she blamed it on the insurance company. I asked how the communication with the insurance company broke down to the point we are getting another bill. She just rattled off some of the procedure the insurance would not cover. Why wouldn't we have been told that upfront, and billed for it then? Then, when I explained that the step-son is 25 and they should be billing him, she asked for the address which I didn't have, so I asked her to call my wife for it (she has the number), and that is when she got rude. Telling me previous invoices had been sent, she has called my wife enough, and if she wants to remedy this have my wife call her or she will just send it to collections. When I explained we make plenty enough money to pay it, but this is a billing dispute she says "well then just pay it! " and hangs up on me. Nice. read more

Great surgeon, period. I was passed around CA/AZ and had a serious defect due to some trauma with massive bone loss in my upper jaw. My face and look are extremely important due to my job/profession and the fact that I'm single and actively dating. Dr. Day took my case on and did a hip graft-implant re-construction. He built a great foundation and the final product is excellent. Rough couple of years going through this but he had a plan and I couldn't be more pleased based on what I looked like when he took my case on. Dr. Day is the real deal and a top notch surgeon. If you only read the first sentence of reviews....I highly recommend you stop even considering him and find another doctor! ANYONE else will be better! Read other reviews because he has done the same thing to others. Dr. Day is all about the mighty dollar. First clue, any doctor who does not take insurance and charges what he charges should treat their patients like GOLD. However, if you question one fee or ask questions they treat you like dirt. Like, how dare you question our fees. If they order it... you pay, period. They don't care even if you have to sell your first born. Ever single person on their office staff are so rude! I have never paid so much and been treated so badly from any professional in my life. I was seriously treated like scum and it only got worse once I returned with his botched up work. He is good at marketing himself as the "best" but trust me he is NOT. Unfortunately, I fell victim to the hype. He is NOT worth the money. I paid 6 figures for treatment with him and he completely botched it up. I have permanent nerve damage from my bottom lip down to the bottom of my chin and 4 inches across. The funny thing is he "says" he is one of two doctors in the nation that can repair this nerve "if" he hits it. However, he could not fix my nerve after he hit it....why not Mr. Perfect????? He also gives some high percentage to assure he he never hits this nerve to cause nerve damage. However, these "stats" are so wrong it's not even funny. He does not even follow up with his patients after a month or so. He tells you to give the nerve a year to fully heal and the feeling to come back yet he does not follow back up with you to see if the feeling has returned. So, the last time he sees you you tell him you are numb but he does not follow up to see if it came back. So, how could his 98% stats he tells his patients for never hitting the nerve be accurate! He is so full of &^%$!!!! Then he says if he does hit the nerve he can fix it.....hahahaha I fell for that line and sinker too! He hit my nerve, caused permanent damage and could NOT fix it . What a liar! The other procedure he did on my joints failed a few years after it was done. This was suppose to last forever. Now, I am in the same exact situation I was prior to the surgery and in the same pain but now I am 6 figures in debt too! I now have to go to another doctor for repairs. So, much for paying out of pocket for the "best". I tried to go back for him , in hopes he would fix his botched work, he had the audacity to charge me a full price consult fee. Like I said, he is all about the bottom dollar and that is it. He should be concerned with lawsuits instead. His time is coming, if it hasn't already! He totally screwed up my mouth forever and he would not even I give me a consult for free....seriously??? Then when I do come in, his office staff again is just as nasty as ever. No compassion, no apologies, no nothing....only their hands out for your credit card!!!! I was on time for my appointment and I had to wait for him , as you do for any doctor, and he comes in the room and reprimands me for being late! Are you kidding me!!!! He was the one that was late. Then he said oh sorry about the broken anchors in your joints and sorry about the numbness. We can re-do the joint, for full price of course. And, when I went to discuss the numbness he shrugged me off and said we would have to schedule another appointment to discuss that. Are you kidding me! He F'd up my mouth causing permanent damage, collected a full consult fee to discuss is mess up and now he wants me to pay another consult fee to discuss the other part of his mess up. You have got to be kidding me. So, I left that office in tears for the way I was treated by him and his office staff. I vowed to NEVER give him one more penny of mine, never let him touch me again no matter how much pain I am in, and to get the word out about what a horrible doctor and human being he and his office staff are. I give him credit on one thing....he is a great marketer! He has managed to convince several doctors and dentist in the valley that his %^$# does not stink. Well, folks let me tell you what....I know first hand......it REEKS!!!!! I have seen every doctor in the valley and honestly there are only a handful, if that, of doctors that do the surgery I had and I do not feel comfortable with any of them. If I ever did get the surgery again I would go out of state. Yes, that is how bad Dr. Day is and how awful his staff is! So, I live in pain everyday thanks to Dr. Reed Day! I would not go back to him if he was the last doctor on earth! So, I hope you get the drift about what kind of doctor you are considering paying your hard earned money for. Three things you should know before you go. 1) They will call you a month before surgery and tell you that the price has gone up, mine went up $5000.The eventually honored the original quote after being convinced by my orthodontist and only after I said I would find another surgeon. 2) They have no concern about your "health" only their portfolio, I went in after surgery several times regarding being extremely congested, I told him something was wrong. He prescribed me an antibiotic, when I went to pick it up, he prescribed me something which is the equivalent of penicillin, it is noted on all records in his office not to do so, as I am HIGHLY allergic to penicillin. Had I not read the label and taken it I would have ended up in the hospital. (Point three will circle back to number two) 3) They will call you non stop for "final photos" I agreed to finally go in only because I still have no feeling on my bottom teeth and I am still congested. I wanted to discuss it with him, I told this to the receptionist when I called (she sounded concerned, she wasn't) to schedule the appointment. The moment I walked in, they rushed to take the photos he walked in, I began to tell him my "concerns" he said, "well the feeling may never come back, you look great" tapped me on the back said good luck and left, I didn't even have a chance to tell him about my congestion. I left there feeling like such a fool, I paid over 20K and he couldn't give me 5 minutes. The next day I found a specialist, I received two shots in each nostril and was sent for a CAT scan. I received the results today. They are so infected that I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. They can no longer be treated with antibiotics. I never had any issues before jaw surgery, if Dr. Day would have listened to the countless times I told him I was congested, my infection could have been treated prior to me now needing surgery. Side bar. As far as the results from the surgery (upper and lower jaw) I have no complaints for the actual work, I just wish I would have had selected a Dr. based on the whole package, client care, follow up etc. not someone who does great work to build his portfolio.
