He is very outgoing, very easy to talk to, listens carefully and explains everything really well. He's also very focused on your comfort during procedures. I was then told I would receive an estimate. The estimate I finally got was over $6,000 with my insurance, and I assumed that price covered the entire implant treatment. When I showed the estimate to my general dentist, they suggested it might be only for the first stage (extraction and bone graft). I called the clinic to confirm, and they said that was correct--the quote was just for extraction + bone graft, not the full implant. I asked for a comprehensive estimate for the whole treatment, which I think is a reasonable request--especially for something this expensive. I called multiple times, left voice messages and emailed, but never received a response. Because of this, I decided to go with another recommended periodontist. When I showed the new doctor that estimate, they were surprised--"Just extraction and bone graft for that much?" This second clinic has an excellent reputation and many cases, and I was able to get the entire implant treatment for under $3,000--about half of this clinic's quote just for the initial stage. Most importantly, unlike Dr. Moskowitz's clinic, they answer the phone promptly and respond kindly to messages. Finally, I was surprised to receive a bill for a March visit recently (It's been 6 months!). If I had actually proceeded with treatment there, I would understand the charges and would be willing to pay. But after no replies and no comprehensive estimate, I had to find another provider. Charging me for that visit feels unfair--it left me wondering what that appointment accomplished, and it ended up being a waste of time and money.

I don't want to directly name my hygienist, since I don't know if she wants her name on here, but she knows who she is and I really have to give her credit for doing such a great job cleaning my teeth each time-- I certainly haven't changed my habits to make such a big difference! And just think, a good hygienist wouldn't want to work for a bad or unpleasant dentist. My time with Dr. Schwartz is short in comparison to the hygenist, but he's incredibly nice and I've had no complaints over any of the work that he has done. He pulled two teeth out as part of my invisalign treatment plan to make room for straight teeth along with two or maybe three fillings over the years-- all went very well and my smile and bite is better than ever. I've moved 7 times since 2006 and after one of the moves to the Baltimore area I was immediately looking into invisalign and the highly rated orthodontist that I found didn't do general dentistry but he recommended Dr. Schwartz so that is where I went. When I moved from Baltimore to Chicago for 3 years, and then from Chicago to New Orleans for another two years, I still flew back to baltimore for my dental appointments with Dr. Schwartz. I'm back in the area now and still seeing Dr. Schwartz with a mere 30-45 minute drive. If you live in Chicago, I'd still recommend Dr. Schwartz-- the flights between MDW and BWI are really plentiful and you can fly in for the day for an appointment. For that level of caring and service you now need to go to his office in Greenbelt. Here they have this thing where is your blood pressure is high they will not treat you. I have anxiety normally but certainly for a dental appointment. The last time I was there I had been stressing about that appointment for two weeks. I had been losing sleep. To be told, no your bottom number is 103 and needs to be 99 on an inaccurate wrist cuff and told they would treat me. Over a decade we've spent over 30k there. But no mas. No waiver allowed and they wouldn't make an exception when the bottom number was 100, it had to be 99. If y'all don't thing dental anxiety is a thing. Then I'll go elsewhere.

The swelling returned, then went away, then returned, then went away, and so on. At that point I suspected I was allergic to something I was eating, so I limited my diet to things I knew I wasn't allergic to, then added things back one at a time. When I started eating ketchup again, the swelling returned. It turns out I am allergic to tomatoes, which, according to Doctor Google, may cause blistering in the mouth. When a search engine gives you better information than a professional, one has to wonder what exactly these folks learn in dental school. Bottom line: never trust a dentist to solve a medical problem. They just don't have the knowledge.
