We come here weekly. Love that the owner and his family run this place themselves. Love their comic book collection, plenty to get lost in searching for all your favs. I normally go thru their cheap comics hoping to find an interesting one to read to my son or get an idea for cosplay. They have a ton of sports cards, limited on pokemon but if you ask him to get you a specific pack, he will! At least he will try. The owners are very kind, friendly, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable of what you are looking for. If his parents can't help u they will surely call up their son so make sure they can help u accordingly! read more

Owner is very rude!!! he sells his stuff way above what the market is and won't bargain with you. I get it, you need to make money but coming off very hostile is not good customer service. Owner could have easily said "sorry i'm firm on my prices" instead of saying "i feel insulted" and then to start arguing with you which we weren't trying to insult you but the markups are crazy especially on pokémon cards too. I was taken back at the awkwardness of the conversation and how he acted like a little child about it. I'm glad i'm not the only customer that experienced this type of rudeness. Super sad to write this. I've been coming here for a long time. I usually just buy packs or single cards. The son has always been nice. Today I noticed the card I wanted was marked up more than double market value. I was not trying to haggle with him. I just wanted to help him for future purchases he makes. To show him he paid too much for the card. Well, he didn't even let me start. He threw the cards behind him and told me to go elsewhere. Didn't have the patience to hear me out. I would have paid sticker price because he's a small business. But he blew up, I've never been treated this way in this hobby. Not a pleasant place to go to . The owner (The Old Man) is very Rude ,doesn't want anyone being in his store longer then 20 minutes, doesn't want anyone buying more then 1 copie per comic, doesn't want anyone coming back to his store more then once a week, (The old man) is not a professional business man, nore act like one . He is know to treat kids badly and adults too. I've been coming here for a couple years now always spending lots of money in his store until my last time I was there . Apparently the old man doesn't like anyone no matter how nice or how long you have been going there for . I walk into his store to buy more books and Apparently I was going there to much and Apparently I was buying all his books he said to me . He then said to me for now on I was only allowed to come on Wednesdays for new comic day ,grab my books and leave . I've come in a dozen or so times as I've recently started collecting sports cards. I go in to check out the individual cards of some of my favorite Dodger and Laker players. Prices are anything but "affordable" bur I know the hobby has taken off since I first collected when I was a young boy (in my 40s now). The father and son are not very friendly and when you ask them for a price, they almost seemed annoyed at the question. They also check Ebay regularly and I can tell that if a card one day sold for something way overpriced, they list their cards at the price and not a cent cheaper. And don't get me started on their sealed wax. All in all, I come back because there isn't many options nearby but most times, I'd rather just buy on Ebay. Same prices, less attitude. read more

Absolutely the WORST comic and card shop in town. Before I start my review allow me to say the Older Gentleman who I assume is the father, was a GREAT help. But the younger gentleman is a total SPAZ. Myself and a few friends came in to buy MULTIPLE cards. We were looking to spend quite a bit of money at this establishment. We asked the older gentleman if we could view the cards quickly with our magnifying glass (we're making an investment, so it's only right we'd want to check.) The older man allowed it, and we began to check multiple cards (that we were going to buy.) The son came over and began going on a tirade about how "he doesn't have time for us to check cards" (we were the only people there, he was standing in the corner watching us like a weirdo.) and started to raise his voice even more after we apologized. We apologized multiple times, and tried to go about our business, but he kept raising his voice about "not having time" and "he doesn't allow people to check cards" (even though the older man gave us permission, and handled the cards for us.) I get it, stores have a policy. But the way this agro SPAZ was talking down to us was uncomfortable to say the least. Raising his voice, and making us feel like we did something wrong when it was his own employee that allowed us. I'd also like to add the verbal abuse we witnessed towards the older gentleman. It seems the son talks down and belittles his father in front of customers. Overall, not a great establishment. What are you trying to hide? You got so worked up about us checking cards WE WANTED TO BUY. What is this guy hiding? I will not be returning to this place. Guy needs mental help. I feel sorry for The poor old man who has to deal with this type of abuse. If I could give this place 00000 stars I would. SAD. This guy must not like money. read more

Sometimes people really do bite the hand that feeds them... I wanted to give my business to this place, myself and partner are always friendly and hopeful to find something for his son. Alas, every time we come with our gentle inquiries, we've been met with an extreme elitist attitude from the son of the owner. He cannot use a brain cell to figure out that having a business means you want to make money--every which way we could calmly engage him to help us, dude acts like he doesn't know anything about anything, and as if he would rather shoot himself than be a decent business man. He either hates his job, himself, maybe both, but it's going to ruin his place of business on its own. I never thought I would be writing this review, but here it is: Some background: I am a hobbyist, avid reader, and collector of comic books and trading card games. I have been a customer of this store for about 3 years until today. I tried to come in about once a month or so to say hi to George (the elderly store owner), check out what is new, or to find some harder to find indie comics and variant covers of comic books. Since about January of this year I have been coming into the store about 1-2 times per week since I revived my love and enjoyment of comic books. In addition to reading comic books, I have joined the wave of speculation that really started picking up at the end of 2020 up until this time of writing. I have spent thousands of dollars in this store over the course of this year alone. This year especially it seems the shop has been very actively marking up every variant of Marvel and DC comics as well as some Indie titles as well. You can expect to see Cover B's and many non-ratio variants of books marked up with a starting price of about $7.99 +tax, but often much higher. They still have a loyalty program for customers that come in often with the use of the Spoton system. You can collect 1 "Spot" for signing in with your phone number every visit (1x per day max), and after you gain 5 Spots you can get a 15% discount on your purchase. This can help frequent customers save a little money. Up until this point, I did not pay much heed to the poor reviews of many here on Yelp of this store. I simply assumed that the people that wrote them were either giving a poor rating because they did not like the prices or because they came in with unreasonable requests or expectations. I am sad to say that I am writing this review because I was treated so poorly this afternoon that I do not want to come back to this store anymore. Many on here voice their chagrin at the hands of George's son, but today it was my interaction with George himself I am writing about. The incident that prompted this review: Today is Thursday May 5th, 2021. I normally come in on New Comic Book Day, Wednesday, but could not make it in. It is also on this day that I finally made it to 5 Spots, so I was looking to pick up some new books as well as dive into their assortment of back issues. I walked around the store checking the variants and any new books I could have missed. I then picked up the 5-issue run of Wynd I have been eyeing for quite some time. I bring the books up to the register, and George sifts through them and immediately removes the issue #1's from my stack and throws them onto the shelf behind him telling me that he will not sell them to me. When I ask why not, he says "Oh, you can't have these. You came in here and bought these before." He OUTRIGHT accuses me of having bought them before and that I am trying to cheat him?! I attempted to correct him and let him know that I have never bought those books before. Apparently the 1st issue of the book increased in price over the weekend and so the cover price of the book is not what George wanted for it. At this point, I understand he wants a better price for his books, so I ask him how much he wants. He tells me,"You can go on eBay and look up the price and I can charge you that for it!" At this point I am gobsmacked, and just can't bring any words to my mouth except, "Sure, what is the price?" He quickly has his son search eBay and he says, "Dad, it's either $14 or $25." I assume he was looking at the "sold" listings on eBay. Then George tells me that he wants $25 for each #1. That was a lot more than I was prepared to spend, so I politely declined, and bought the rest of the other books I picked out and left, feeling humiliated, and for what? The way he talked to me, a paying customer, was like he caught me in his store trying to STEAL from him. I was shocked because the books had no indication the price was any different than cover price, and I did nothing to provoke this type of reaction out of George. Maybe he was having a rough day? I am still distraught by what happened. After I walked out, I realized that I am such a dumbass that even after all that, I still paid for the other books I picked out. If anyone is looking for a run of WYND #2-5, you know who has it! Honestly, I felt so humiliated, and so belittled after this experience, that I am going to take all of my tens of thousands of dollars of future comic book purchases elsewhere. It is INSANE what a bad experience over a "$25" comic book can do to a once loyal customer. (At this time of writing, Wynd #1 is not even $25 on eBay) Some other thoughts: This store is DEFINITELY NOT A PLACE FOR SPECULATORS. The store owner does not appreciate anyone that comes in to try and buy more than 1 copy of anything unless YOU ARE GAMBLING on overpriced booster packs of cards. They tried to rip off my husband who brought a rookie valuable card to sell, his father is a famous trader in cards and valuable coins that went to colleges in the history of historic coins and collectibles and they wanted to give him $8 for a card with a value of $250. Sports and Pokémon box prices are ridiculously overpriced. Everything in the store is overpriced . The store name is "affordable" lol it does not go with the name at all. Honestly buy your stuff on ebay or other platforms. You can find better deals. Just my opinion. I am totally for supporting local businesses and buying from them but when the prices are this ridiculous I can't justify myself spending there. A quick example. I went in and asked about the 2020-21 Chronicles Soccer Hobby box for my son. The older gentleman that works there tells me 450 plus tax!. I checked on ebay and bought one for 190 including taxes and shipping. Be patient and look elsewhere and you will find better deals! Hope this helps! read more

I was excited to see a card shop in my area so my family and I started coming here regularly for comics, cards, boxes, and sleeves. I could easily buy many of these products online for less but I wanted to support a local business. So over the past few weeks we spent over a hundred dollars and I told owners I was looking forward to shopping here! Then today happened. I bought several packs of card sleeves last Saturday but one pack was defective, they were sticking together. I searched online and found a Reddit thread about bad batches of Dragon Shield sleeves (though it was a first for me). The other packs I bought that Saturday were great! So I stopped back in today (Wednesday) to make an exchange. It should've been an easy swap... but it wasn't meant to be. There was no discussion of exchange, the younger owner quickly refunded my money and said "Why don't you just go buy them somewhere else?"... it was like he was mad at me ... for a return... I was confused. He said "Well I can't sell them now"... and I thought "well I can't use them ‍ they're defective" I said, "I don't want there to be any bad blood between us. I like your store, but I feel like you're telling me not to shop here"... because I made a return?!?! I was planning on buying other things today too. In the end I just left, went to a rival shop and I guess he got his wish: Another lost FAMILY of customers. It's sad... I was genuinely excited about finding a local card shop. read more

to be honest, it's a great store, but there was one problem about it: they are two men that works there, one is an old man and the other is his adult son. the old man is a nice guy but i don't like his son because he's a jerk. like i didn't liked his attitude that he wouldn't let me buy the wonder woman figure and would rather sell it to someone else just because he was mad at me that i got hurt. like it was true that i did do something wrong and that i gave him a sincere apology, but he didn't had to take it too hard on me since i never meant any harm and that i really was remorseful about it. anyway, i'll never go to that store again. read more

TLDR: owner kicked us out, yelled at us, swore at my little brother and called him deaf (which he actually was)... Very very rude and weird owner. I had just gotten off of work and he kicked me and my friends out because we were "taking too long" and "wasting" his time. I don't think the owner enjoys laughing or happiness because he kicked us out right after we expressed any sign of joy. We were excited to come in today, as it was my friends' last day visiting in California. It was unexpected. I had a comic and a card in my hand and was still looking around for Christmas gifts, but he took everything out of my hands and yelled at me to get out. I'm an adult and he was treating me like a child. I come in often for the yugioh card selection and the owner is usually sweet so I'm not sure what was up with his nasty and bitter attitude today. Telling all my friends and family that have been supporting this shop over many many years to never come back. My dad has been coming here since this shop opened. Like I said, he's usually really sweet, so I'm not sure why he snapped. He also swore at my little brother and asked if he was deaf, which he actually was.
