This hole in the wall is almost exactly that, but don't judge a book by its cover. Inside are some of the nicest people in the card collecting business. Friendly as all get out. Helpful too. My daughter and granddaughter accompanied me on a mission to find specific hard to find Pokémon cards to complete a set. We were able to find 5 or 6 of them. It was so much fun hanging out and ferreting through boxes and boxes of cards. We weren't rushed out and were left to dig at our leisure. I'll return to True to dig, sort, and converse. To be perfectly honest, I prefer coming here over Top Deck. They've always been friendly, seem to actually want my business, and the owner (?) even remembered my wife and I and what we were looking for, even though we had only come in once a few weeks prior during a super busy time for them. Both times, she was super helpful, as was the other employee who helped us. There are a lot of display cases with vintage and boxed product, vintage video games, comics, and some miscellaneous stuff. They have a TON of Yugioh and Pokemon to sift through. They even have some Digimon boosters and crossing fingers for more selection of that. :) Prices are pretty fair, especially for boxed/sealed product. Singles prices can fluctuate, but usually they follow market. I'm always late to the party for their Insta deals, but maybe I'll snag one one day. I went here for the first time looking for Pokemon cards, and I was not disappointed. They have a lot of Japanese & Chinese packs. They do not reseal their packs. I called ahead to confirm they had a specific Pokémon card set in stock, and they assured me they did. But when I arrived, I was given three different stories: first, that they had just placed the order and were waiting for it to arrive; then, that they DID have it in the store but couldn't find it; and initially, they said they had it in stock when I called. The service is no good, took things to trade in was holding big and large amounts of things not one of the 4 employees there even tried to help open the door when they were standing right next to it. Don't bring in things to trade or sell they offer crazy lowballs not worth the time. Packs of cards overpriced compared to market and other card stores. I called twice before I left my house, no answer (assuming they're busy) upon arrival the store is still closed and it's about an hour after opening. When they say its a 150 dollar value they do mean it but full of toys pencils etc that will eventually add up to 150 its pretty clever of them to do that . Literally the worst card shop ever . Everything is marked up at 80-90% over market value . Complete rip off , I understand it's a business and you need to make money but there's a fine line between 20% mark up and over charging . Something to add that may not be true anymore but I have witnessed the owner a few years ago buy stolen product and selling it for more money despite never getting at the original price ( and with tax lmao). Ask me how I know this ? I have witnessed multiple times sketchy ass people with cards in garage bags( like cholos and shit, there's no reason for cholos to be selling Pokémon cards lmao unless they stole it and are selling them) selling to the owner and a week later those items are up on display. Purchased a card from their IG a couple months ago and never received it. They said it got lost in the mail that they sent out another one which was over two weeks ago. Worst store I have been too. I have tried, and gone to store a few times. So, this not one experience. They have books listed and displayed with prices but refuse to sell. I do not know if it is a discriminatory thing or just plain poor business practice. The location is dope plenty of place to play, great option to cater to the customer by providing playmates. The location has a lot of parking so no need to worry about that. All players were very nice:), I also really liked the fact that there is countdown clock for the tournaments. Don't know if there is new staff at this location but it felt like one of the store attendants was not very knowledgeable of he tournament rules or how to use the pricing tools.
