Sadly, over the past two years customer service for the adults in our household has declined significantly. I'm going share as 4 stars, at this point it's really closer to 3 1/2 but they don't give you an option for that, which I'm torn since they do take great care of my children. Let's start with the positives: The hygienist and Doctor who work with our children are wonderful. They are gentle, kind, and patient. They have never pushed unnecessary treatments. They simply do their cleanings, make observations, and offer suggestions. Never had an issue with how our kids are treated. They even allow you to sit in the room with them. This part of their practice has always been excellent. The wait time once you arrive and check in is never long, I don't believe we've ever waited more than 10 minutes to be seen except one time when someone called out so they were short staffed. The office is also very clean. However, our experience as adults has been very frustrating. My husband was essentially "Ghosted" as a patient. He was contacted about moving his appointment earlier, which he agreed to only if his original appointment could remain in case he couldn't make it ( He was traveling for work that week). They canceled his original appointment anyways, and then later canceled another appointment because insurance was "asking questions" but no one ever followed back up with him like they said they would. In the end they dictated his schedule instead of working with it, and he never got his mouth completed after starting a deep cleaning. Recently they repeatedly kept contacting me during work hours asking for insurance information even though I had told them I did not have it on hand and would send it as soon as I could that day. The constant texts during the workday feel excessive and stressful. Another limitation is pain management, they only offer injections for numbing. If you don't numb well with needles like me they can't accommodate you. They won't even do my teeth cleanings until one tooth issue is resolved elsewhere. Scheduling is also a bit difficult, appointments are typically booked close to a year out, and although we tried to switch to their newer location, they told me they are still working on insurance coverage there so we're stuck at this office. Today was another example of the disorganization. We had a 2pm appointment and arrived 15 minutes early. The staff was in a meeting and kept all patients waiting outside until exactly 2PM. As more and more patients arrived for their appointments they eventually put a sign on the door telling people to return at 1PM even though it was already past that and they still weren't available until 2. It was confusing and frustrating especially for those who arrive on time and early. During cleanings you won't see the dentist for more than 5 minutes unless you have specific concerns. Overall, this used to be a 5-star office for us. Now it feels very inconsistent. Excellent for children so far.

After that appointment and becoming an established patient, Edinburgh Family Dentistry in Chesapeake could not schedule her next appointment until 2026. She asked them, aren't cleaning supposed to be every six months? This office said yes, but they do not have any availability, and my wife could be put on a cancellation list for an early appointment. When it came time for my wife's appointment this February 2026, this dentist's office called my wife three hours before her appointment and said her hygienist was out sick and they had to cancel her appointment. She asked about seeing another hygienist, and they told her they are short-staffed. Edinburgh Family Dentistry makes sure to inform you that you will be charged a late or no-show fee if you do not give advance notice within 24 hours of canceling your appointment with them. My wife asked when they will be able to schedule her for the next cleaning appointment, since this cancellation by the dentist's office, they said February 2027. My wife said that would be two years without seeing a dentist, but the office staff didn't seem to see a problem with that. If you are an established patient, you would think you would be accommodated after the office canceled your appointment, which you made a year ago. This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Maybe Edinburgh Family Dentistry should have thought twice before opening their Moyock office until they figure out their staffing problems, or maybe pay their hygienists a better wage to keep their attrition rate down. My wife did like her Dentist, but hates that she must deal with an office staff that is clueless to patient needs. In response to the owner's response. This is not a misunderstanding. It appears to be an ongoing issue with Edinburgh Family Dentistry. See Traci Gray's & Anne Buckner's one-star reviews from one & seven months ago. They both had to experience the same one-year extension befall them. It's clearly an unwillingness to train your obtuse and unenlightened office staff, which resulted in your colleague, Dr. G, losing a patient.

From the initial handshake to walking out it was enjoyable of an experience. I'm not from the area originally and I've had teeth taken out in the past and I've sat in the chair for hours at a time. If I ever had to get teeth removed I would definitely come back here for future business no matter how far away I was. They even called me the next day to see how I felt which was an added bonus. A consult to help completely understand the process and help put her anxiety at ease answering all questions). His bedside manor is so calming, mixed with humor, which was perfect! Her procedure was flawless. She was relaxed and informed. The staff was very courteous and thorough in explaining the billing and after procedure care. He also gave a pain relief kit, in case it was needed during the middle of the night or off hours. This came in handy as she had her procedure the week of Christmas. I highly recommend Doc Bald!

I was at ease with their procedures and their concern for you anxiety and if I felt any pain. I don't numb well. Never have so I took a few extra doses of novacaine but in doing so, didn't feel any discomfort. This was my second root canal (hopefully the last) but I certainly feel I had the best care, both professionally as well as personally. Hope you never need an extensive dental procedure, but if so book an appointment at Coastal Endodontics.

I usually enjoy going because I just like getting my teeth cleaned but here the cleanings are terrible and they try to scam you saying you need a bunch of random stuff but I want to two other dentist and they said your teeth are perfectly fine. You don't need a reseal-ants or anything. The dentist here are scammers and the more sealants fillings or whatever they sell the more they make because they get commission. I've been to over 15 dental offices across multiple states, and this is by far the worst dental…read morepractice I've ever experienced. There is always a wait past your scheduled appointment time--at least 30 minutes, but usually 45 minutes to over an hour. You might as well take the entire day off work because nothing runs on time. We've had to reschedule multiple appointments simply because I could not wait an additional hour past my appointment time. Once you're finally taken back, the waiting continues. Every time, they applied the topical numbing gel and then left me sitting so long that it wore off before the injection, causing unnecessary pain. In one instance, I was fully prepped and numbed only for the dentist to come in and say there was a mistake and that no procedure was needed at all. Both my spouse and I have dealt with excessively long waits, repeated scheduling errors, and poor-quality dental work. I had a root canal that took weeks to complete, and my bite is messed up as a result. It feels like they are not allowed to turn patients away, so instead they do such poor work that you won't want to come back anyway. I'm writing this to warn any potential new patients-RUN! There are far better dental offices out there. I genuinely feel bad for their current patients and hope they realize they have much better options.

The front desk staff was welcoming right away and even thanked me for completing my forms ahead of time, which was a nice touch. The dental assistant who took my X-rays (I'm assuming that's what it's called) came out to get me and was super kind and easy to talk to. She explained everything as we went and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. After the imaging, Dr. Hernandez came in and went over everything they found. I honestly don't remember ever having a dentist be that thorough. He took his time, explained things clearly, and made sure I understood what was going on and had all my questions answered. This was just the first visit--they'll do the cleaning and anything else at a follow-up--but overall, everyone there was wonderful. It's hard for me to even say this, but I'm actually looking forward to going back. I told my youngest son and his wife (who are local and looking for a dentist), and they are eager to be seen by Dr. Hernandez and his staff!
