I found DJ Face CT through gigmasters.com, where he has extremely positive reviews. After speaking to him over the phone he seemed like a very professional, while easy going and fun, DJ. I was extraordinarily confused when I found that the only review he had on yelp was so negative...so I called him to ask about it. He explained to me that the reason behind it was that after multiple conversations about the possibility of a "snow date" (due to the event being in January) the previous reviewer refused to set up an alternative. Sure enough, there was a huge snow storm which prevented safe travel to the venue. Every vendor includes this possibility in their contracts and everyone of them has the same policy, not refundable but they can reschedule using their previous deposit. Multiple vendors cancelled the event due to this snow storm, including the venue itself. All of this information was obtained through DJ Face CT, so of course I only have 1 side of the story. But I can tell you this: We booked DJ Face CT for our wedding, with very little notice, and he did an absolutely amazing job. He showed up on time, set up quickly, and had a perfect presence. He was out of the way when it was not his time to perform, coordinated well with all the other vendors, and extremely respectful to everyone. And then it was his time to perform. He brought the energy of our event straight to the top. Starting with the horah, he got everyone out of their seats, dancing and celebrating. We took a break from the high energy for dinner where he provided excellent ambient music. And then his true talent was able to shine through. DJ Face CT read the crowd like a book, as easily as a elementary school level one. We had a small event in a house and we were concerned that due to the limited space people would not dance. We were 100% wrong, DJ Face kept everyone on the dance floor with perfect flow, switching genres as the crowd needed. Literally everyone was dancing. He was able to slow the party down for our "first" dance and bring it right back to high energy after. He did all of this with almost no input from us. Due to the short notice (we were planning to make our own playlists....bad idea...) We gave him only 2 songs (our first dance and a request from the grooms father) and a short list of genres we liked. He filled in the rest using his expertise. We have recieved so many compliments about our wedding, and all of them specifically included how amazing our DJ was. So please don't be off put by the only bad review he has. He did an amazing job at our wedding and I'm positive he would be amazing for any event you're planning. read more

We found Jovan through Gigmasters where he had pretty good reviews, his price was fair and we thought we had our wedding DJ. As such we put down 50% of the price and stopped looking for DJs. As we began communicating with him on different aspects he was a bit slow to respond at first but we let it go. Some weeks later we got an email from Gigmasters saying that DJ Face CT was no longer a member of their site. (more on this later) We assumed he had gotten popular and no longer needed to rely on their service to bring him leads so he stopped using them to save himself whatever their fees were. We weren't too concerned. But we wanted to make sure our original agreement was still in force and asked Jovan to send over a contract outside of Gigmasters so we had something in writing saying what we paid, what services we are getting for our fee and the date of the event. I think he responded a few days later to this and said he would send something over. A while went by, no contract. Had to chase him a couple more times before he actually responded and sent a contract over. Frustrating, but we had our contract and thought we were still moving forward with this vendor. Fast forward another few weeks and we talk to him about meeting him at a local Starbucks to go over some details and discuss the elements we want to incorporate in our party. We agree to a date and time at a Starbucks that is close to both of us as we live very close to him. It was close enough that he literally could walk to the location if his car broke down. Still despite a nice convenient place to meet he didn't make it for some reason. Why didn't he make it? I have no idea.....HE'S NOT RESPONDED TO US AT ALL!!! This meeting was supposed to be on Tuesday, it is now Saturday and despite texting him on 2 different numbers, emailing his business email and Gigmasters trying to contact him by phone and email there's been not a peep from him. We have since gotten our deposit refunded by Gigmasters and have moved onto another vendor. If you are reading this and you booked through Gigmasters give them a call and they will refund you, they've been wonderful. Oh, remember that bit about him being off Gigmasters? Gigmasters told us it was because he was completely unresponsive to other folks as well and seeing some of the reviews on Yelp I can see it is a systemic issue with him. They said people that went through with using him were generally pretty happy with his service when he showed up but getting him to respond/show up seems to be the hard part. Did not show up to my brother's wedding last weekend (nor did he return any calls in the days leading up to the event). But he did make off with 3/4 of the contract price for a deposit after requesting the full amount a few months prior to event. What kind of person does this? read more

I booked Jovan 3 months in advance of my wedding in August 2016. I originally booked him from Gigmasters.com. When i tried to contact him 1 week before my wedding to firm-up details he did not respond to emails, phone calIs or texts. I then contacted gigmasters and found that he was removed from their website for "inappropriate behavior". Apparently i was not the first of his abandonments. Do not book this DJ unless you are willing to risk him not showing up. read more

We booked Jovan for our daughters wedding last summer and I am still angry and disappointed in his performance. After many conversations between myself (mother of the bride) and the bride and groom, I thought we had agreed on specific songs that the couple wanted played. We also gave him specific songs to play for the mother and father of the bride/groom dances. He agreed with me to stay until 10:30 that evening and to invite guests to stay after that ,as I had more food and music for everyone. He came to our event without his list of songs and proceeded to just play anything. We found his blank list crumpled up on the ground the next day. He did not play any of the songs we had requested! On top of that, he did not give us a mother/father of the bride/groom dance AT ALL! Before we knew it he was packing up at 10 o'clock, without so much as a "thank you for coming, please stay for more music and food" as requested. By the time we realized what happened, he was gone and our guests were all leaving, thinking the party was over. My biggest regret is paying this guy ahead of time, which he refused to refund me any of my money. DO NOT HIRE JOVAN....he was unprofessional and uncaring about this most important day! read more

If you want a DJ that will not show up to your party then this is the one. We were in contract with DJ Face for our Sweet 16 party and the day of the party he never showed up. Never called, emailed, texted. He STILL has not given back our deposit and our party was in January. STAY AWAY!!!!! If you have speakers and the Pandora app, you're better off using it before hiring this guy!! The wedding was on November 5th 2016 in Southtington and as mother of the groom, and on behave of family members who flew in from out of state and local family members and dear friends, this guy was a poor excuse for a Dj. He was vain with an attitude of Mr.know it all and carried his performance unprofessionally. For several weeks before the wedding we attempted to contact him in order to finalize the play list and to go over specific instructions for the wedding party's entrance. He wouldn't return calls nor reply to text, and when he would consent to meet, he would either cancelled the appointments or be a no show, Three days before the wedding, he was finally reached to say "I got you, I know what I'm doing"...On the day of the wedding, he had the parents in the wrong order and messed up on our entrance songs. He mispronounced the last name, several times. But it got worse after that. His phone was connected to his system because every time he received a call or text, we would hear the beep over the speakers. The music was old school. He played Michael Jackson's 'Can't get Enough" and Gloria Estefan Music. When he finally played a request, not only did he talk into his mic to where you couldn't hear the words to the songs, but he played clips of it from You tube!! There was no blending/transition from one song to the next. When I questioned him about the old songs, he said that he loves old school, was he playing for us or himself?? As Latinos, we expected some Salsa and merenque music which he never played! When it was requested a bachata, he played a 15 yr old song. It was a real downer. When it came time to cut the cake, He told the couple to cut into the top cake, My daughter and I had to redirect the couple to cut the bottom tier, only to hear Mr. know it all said under his breath, "too many chief " Even with all this said, it still got worse!!! This guy had the nerves to call the newlyweds on their honeymoon morning, to complaint that the wedding guess where complaining about his performance and that the groom left without saying bye and without giving him a tip!!! A tip!?? Was he kidding? Really? A tip? He got paid $800.00. Furthermore, he was suppose to bring props for photos which he didn't and he charged $200 for some up lighting that were dim barely noticeable. He bought with him 3 extra people, and didn't tell the couple he was bringing them. These people ate and drank all night and because of the unexpected 3, the Groom was charged extra for them.
