To start, I wanted a spare key for my ridgeline. I called several places and got quotes ranging…read morefrom $245-423. I told the lady from mega lock and key that if someone can do it for $200, I would do that. If not, I'll just hold off. She said she called and found one of her technicians do it for $200. The technician she sent was over an hour late and after I said I don't have much time to spare, he said it'll take 5 minutes, only for it to take 45 minutes. He then gave me a very cheap seeming key, that so far does work like it's supposed to, and said the total is $380. I told him that that is not what I agreed upon, and he said the best he could do is $350. I said that won't happen and he explained that he is a contractor for mega lock and they never told him that they promised me $200, and he even showed me the texts where they never mentioned it. So he called his dispatcher and they didn't answer. So I called and they answered immediately. The guy basically said he has no record of me ever calling about getting a key replaced and that we didn't agree on that price (even though they were the ones that sent the guy to my house) and that he will send a note for customer support to call me. I said the guy is here in my driveway, how long am I supposed to wait? And he said well call asap. I still haven't gotten a call. I ended up refusing to pay any more than $200 and am extremely upset at how mega lock SCAMMED me into paying more than they promised. What they tried to pull over on me was nothing short of a lie and scam and they seemed to have zero remorse for it. As far as the technician goes, he did an ok job and was pleasant to talk to aside from him being late and lying about how long he would be and how long the job would take. If I would've known what I know now, I would've rather taken my vehicle to Honda and paid the astronomical $423 for an OEM replacement and saved myself the headache. Mega lock and key is nothing but a scam and I highly recommend looking elsewhere for help.
