While this was by no means an emergency, Doctor Locksmith sent Kevin over to our home within an hour to assess and repair. Kevin arrived with a mask on which I very much appreciated considering the new COVID variant. The consult fee to come and assess was $34. He explained that he'd work on removing the old, broken lock and then discuss replacement. There was a consult fee, lock removal fee and then he replaced both (2) locks on the door. It was a pricey visit but well worth the efficiency and resolution provided. This was likely the most stress-free home repair we've experienced as homeowners thus far! My 88 year old mother contacted this contractor in order to have deadbolts installed in her home on…read morethe front and back doors. A subcontractor was sent to the house to complete the work. The sub contractor was informed that both the door knob and deadbolt should be keyed alike to avoid having to use 2 keys. This also required the current door to be drilled in order to install the deadbolt. The sub contractor installed a dead bolt only and left the original doorknob which was not what was to be done. Additionally, she was told a credit card could be used originally. The sub contractor told her check only. Total for the installation of 2 deadbolts was $660. The work was worse than sub standard and is shown in the pictures. I wouldnt pay 6 dollars for this bullshit work. Since this work was subbed out, Doctor Locksmith is responsible for the work of the sub. There was no follow up from Dr. Locksmith and they wont answer the phone nor return any calls. The sub contractor will not answer or return messages either. The cost of this work should be refunded immediately. I am going to post this same review on every platform I can and will be making an in person visit. I would have given this a no star rating if it allowed me to.

Got a few estimates through Yelp for lock changes and Authority was one of the more affordable options and the deciding factor was a virtually immediate availability. Yaakov was very fast in his response time. He (or his worker, not sure) showed up in his window, and completed his work extremely fast. There was a slight miscommunication between us regarding which keys I had to the various doors and which I didn't. Long story short, he said had to replace two of the knobs to make them all match. This meant an additional expense not originally quoted, but it seemed fair. My only complaint was that he left behind all of the old doorknobs and cylinders, which I thought he might dispose of. Even left some out in the grass next to my basement door - good thing I didn't discover it with my lawnmower! Overall, communication is fast and efficient, the work is fast and affordable.

The bolt lock was very old and extremely difficult to open, but he fixed it very very quickly. He was kind, polite, and professional. I want to clarify a few things about how they charge for services because of the reviewer who gave them 1 star. Given my positive and straightforward experience with Edgewood Emergency Locksmith, it seems this person is frustrated with the cost of a locksmith's services in general, and is now misrepresenting the company as though the company lied to them and tried to trick them, when in reality, this is not at all how they operate in terms of charging for the locksmith's services. The initial quote that customers are given is just for showing up in an emergency--you are told this over the phone. You are also told that when the locksmith arrives, you will be given a quote for the work needed, before the locksmith begins. If you don't want to pay what you are quoted or want to get another quote from another company--they won't do any work and you aren't charged. It isn't like you are agreeing to an unknown cost and then have no choice but to pay up when the locksmith gets there. Pay if you want the work done, don't if you don't. I was housesitting for my clients, and I needed to have a locksmith so I could care for the owner's…read morepets. I called Edgewood Emergency Locksmith and they were able to have someone come right out. They quoted me $54.00 to start. Fine. They service guy didn't know the area, considering it was in Edgewood, and he asked me how to get in the front door since it was a apt/condo facility. I had the key, and he went upstairs. He tried his key, and it wouldn't work. He tried it a few times, and jiggling they handle. He said he couldn't get any "door bag" on the door, since it was a sealed door. He was there about 10 mins, and the door opened up. He then proceeded to tell me the fee was $149.00. I told him that's not what I was quoted, and didn't have that kind of money. He said it had to be taken care of then. I gave him what I had, $63.00, and then called the owner to tell them to charge the balance. I called the company the next day to complain that that wasn't right, to charge me for 10 minutes of service, no special equipment, and I didn't know it would be that much. They were rude, and finally I asked for customer service. That guy, Keith was really nice and said he would have the supervisor call me. (That was on a Friday.) No phone call. On the following Wednesday, STILL no call, I called back. Again, I had a rude man cutting me off, and saying he had a hard time believing that the technician never told me the fee. Well, he didn't. I never had a locksmith before. He sent me back to customer service (Keith) and he realized that yes, he was supposed to have someone call me back. He reassured me that he would have them call the next day at 10AM. Guess what, no call. My suggestion to anyone needing a locksmith, don't use this company. Their customer service is below par, they take advantage of people by bait and switch fees, and not honest. I'll make sure I share this on Yelp to prevent others from going through what I went through.
