Through this process, I learned that she has a background in Hotel Hospitality, which explains her excellent customer service skills! They were on top of any repairs we needed and served as a supporting tie between us and the new tenant. They called for an electrical problem. We immediately rushed over to help since it was a first time customer. We wanted to give them the best time response only to be ignored by the management after we found the problem. They said that they paid via Venmo so that I would get paid right away but my phone was blocked after I tried contacting them for payment. Shame on this company. read more

Affordable Rentals takes cleaning fees from every security deposit regardless of cleaning. Security deposits are refunded late past the 21 day maximum time limit. They dicker over the smallest thing and are unresponsive to repairs. They do not disclose problems with units such as unlivable over-heating. They do not properly vet new tenants. read more

Stopped in to ask about a house to rent, before we could ask a single question the woman at the second desk in the front office started talking over us. We went able to ask a question about any rental and we were told that they only deal with people online. We were shooed out of the office, still confused about something on their flyer. Why she couldn't have answered a single question is beyond me, sounds like they don't want to make money. Not only are they losing out on tenants, but they're paying her to turn people away, she must be related to the owner because I don't see a reason anyone would actually want her to "work" for their company. read more

If I could give less then one star I would. Jennifer and Kay are both very unprofessional and dishonest. At first we spoke too Jennifer about a rental unit she was nice and helpful but then Kay came back from "vacation " and it was down hill from there. I submitted my application and emailed my documents I just called a few days after I sent it too see if they got it Kay answered she was rude, she kept talking over me, she just kept repeating she just got back from vacation and I'm swamped I'll get too it when I get to it kinda thing. I waited a week too call her back when I did she again said she just got back from vacation and she's swamped and she'll get too it when she gets to it again she was rude and talked over me. When we spoke too Jennifer she said one thing about our income portion and when I spoke too Kay she said something totally different. When we spoke too Jennifer she said she was just Kay's assistant and Kay handled everything so submit our application and she'd speak too Kay. Then when we spoke too Kay she said she was just Jennifer assistant and Jennifer was the boss. After not hearing from Kay for a few days she calls and said she's got all my stuff in but the application fee for both of us so we drove down there to give it too her again she was rude and kept talking over use when we get there she said that she just got back from vacation and that she had seven applications too review before mine she still took the money then tells us oh yea the property your looking at is no longer available then she gives us a list of other places and asks us too pick but we only get too pick one. We decided not too go with them so we called and asked for our money back since she hadn't gotten to my application I figured it was ok she said Jennifer was out for the day and she would ask her if it was ok too give me back the money then asked for my name and number. I wanted too go look at something on my application but the link was no longer available now it made sense why she asked for my info again. Also when I called her she said she was trying too call me but my app was one digit off and she didn't know my number but she had my partners phone number. I left her a email asking for my money back and letting her know we were going another route. I got no response back this morning so I called her and again she's rude and talking over me she says she did see it and responded but I got nothing. When I ask if she spoke too Jennifer Today she said no I told you yesterday I would ask her about your money after she comes back from being out in the field but she told me she was done for the evening and would speak too her today. It's a lot of back and forth and saying one thing but then say another thing later not keeping there facts straight. I submitted an application for a rental with this agency on May 12th, 2020. They called the next day to review my application. I was told it could take up to 10 business days to process my application. I called again May 19th and was told my application was half way through the process. Today is June 13, 2020 and I have no received a call or email from them regarding my application. Both apartments I applied for are no longer available. I am very displeased to have wasted $30 for an application fee to receive nothing in return. I was told I would receive an email or phone call whether my application was approved or denied. Would not recommend the waste of time, effort, or money to this rental group. read more

Do not waste your money on an application here as they are discriminatory, unprofessional, and rude. We submitted our application and Kay gave us the run around. She then denied my husbands ESA letter stating that it needs to have our dogs name on it (it doesn't) and said that we could pay a $500 pet deposit to move our application forward. We did not want to do that because our dog is a verified emotional support animal and we have proper documentation. We waited until Monday when the doctors office opened and asked for a new letter with the dogs names on it. Kay then requested a Release of Information to talk to my husbands doctor to verify the ESA letter. My husband signed a release for her to talk to the office whereupon we received a call from the nurse stating she has never been talked to so rude or disrespectful. The nurse stated that Kay called and told them they were "frauds" and that the letter was not valid. My husband suffers from a mental disability, which is the purpose of the ESA. We have tried calling and emailing with no response from Kay. Extremely unprofessional and unethical- we have filed a claim with the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. I am thankful we are not in a bind for housing and that we have access to resources, but it is not acceptable for people to be discriminated against or have rationale explained. read more

They did call me back however when I told them I had only been at my current job for 3 months they really wanted nothing more to do with me, even though I said I was willing to put down a bigger deposit. I am not entirely sure what all the bad reviews are about because that was not my experience at this rental agency. When I called to enquire about the application process, I was greeted by Katlyn, who was very kind and professional. She encouraged me to give them a shot and so I did. I actually met and spoke to J.T. For several hours and I have no idea why anyone would say anything bad about him. He has a very dry sense of humor and is actually hilarious. When I was discussing our rental options with him, he very kindly looked through the available properties and tried to find a property that would work the best for my service animals and my children. In the end, at this time, our family didn't qualify due to credit score for the house that we were considering. We did find housing through another company so it all worked out in the end for everyone. I would strongly urge anyone looking for housing though to consider this company. If they can help you, they will and if they can't they are very kind about that as well! read more

Working with affordable rentals was a smooth process. They are extremely quick, efficient, and responsive.

Jennifer is extremely rude, miserable and unprofessional. Don't want to hear about her personal life either. Not a trustworthy person. Had to call the board of realtors on her about her unethical conduct. I mean you put in an application and she says she has a stack of them and is too busy to review them and will get back to you whenever. Never comes to the phone or return calls when you try to follow up with her. My friend rented from them and put up a review and then these dishonest people answer the review making like they don't know who she is. They say that about everyone who makes a comment they don't agree with. They have these drug addicts cleaning the rental units who move into them and party in between tenants and leave the places looking disgusting. When the weather gets hot they take forever to turn on the swamp cooler so you have to sit and suffer. If you have a problem with another tenant blocking your car they won't do anything. They allow tenants to bring in pit-bulls that growl at other tenants kids. One lady had 3 dogs. They don't care. They rent the places out damaged, and stinky. When you go to the office to rent Jennifer is downright nasty saying why don't you just leave the rent in some rent box. Uh no thanks I want to hand it to them myself and get a receipt don't care if it pisses her off or not. read more

AC did not work (after I had major surgery) they told me that I had an alternate method to cool the house - open doors and windows. I am giving a 4 Star because there was a lack of follow through on their end when my boyfriend applied for a home. I do property management myself and was waiting for a call for the approval. Aside from that we dealt with them very little but I have to say that the home my boyfriend got in Joshua tree was very much what he needed and wanted. It's up for rent now, unfortunately my boyfriend got deployed earlier than anticipated and homework no longer needed the place. 61559 Desert air, 2bed 2 bath, washer and dryer, two car attached garage, central AC and Heating and the best neighbor anyone can ask for. Virginia Neal, thank you for your comment about how you support your military but that is just not the case. Every single place your company has reviews posted, the majority is negative. Not everyone can be wrong! My, as you says "tails", are extremely accurate. And your comments about late fees are cute but not one of your employees requested a late fee and the ONE time they did I paid it. Also, to the comment about me reading the lease, I did, unfortunately I didn't follow my doctors advice when asked not to sign legal documents two weeks following my surgery. Silly me, coming from and honest and trusting community before moving here I believed my family would not have been taken advantage of, boy was I wrong! I'm glad you understand we paid our rent every month even AFTER I lost my job and struggled to pay, but it was paid. If that wasn't okay with you and your company you should have evicted us. Way to be an understanding company especially when it comes to my children's health with mold behind the walls in the master bath, That you refused to fix, for what reason I'll never know. Maybe the department of environmental health can figure that out for me. Also, not responding to any emails without multiple emails to your employees and/or involvement or threat of involvement of legal aid is pretty unprofessional in my opinion. My husband pleading for this to go smoothly for both sides, since your such an understanding company you know the stress that comes with PCS and would support your military families and ease the process correct? That's what I expect from a supportive company. That not what I got. I got told no we can't do a pre move out inspection for every reason in the book until I threatened base legal involvement. Knowing that people can get orders two weeks before they PCS I would expect understanding on that. Sadly with your company I did not. It was a struggle and still is till this day. Knowing that we are PCSing but still threatening us to have to pay until the end of our lease term EVEN AFTER you have given us our prorated amount of rent, for the house we won't be living in, for the month of April. Supportive? Understanding? No! IMO crooks, money hungry, rude company. PERIOD! Living in the house leased from your company ruined our families quality of life and we cannot wait to be RID of you and your rude employees. Your "beautiful" house that was given to me with dead bugs in the window sills and door jams, leaks into the sunroom, pipes bursting, crap in our tubs, septic system caving in on itself, exposed wires in children's bedrooms, locks and handles on doors that don't work, paint peeling off the walls due to water damage, a pool pump that broke a month after we moved in, mold growing in the bathrooms that didn't have any proper ventilation and a carpet that made my infants knees dirty every time she crawled on it. So dirty right after move in that I had to clean it myself. Not what I call beautiful. My neighbor who lives in the guest house to the main house here deals with the same issues with her house and YOUR employees. She has also posted negative reviews on google. You know the one YOUR employees told could use the pool I pay for. Is she wrong too? I also have been informed her son has claimed to have filed a lawsuit against your company, when HE rented from you...weird I wonder why so many people have problems with such an understanding supportive company. Is he wrong too? Telling tails too? Tell me why your employee Gina stated to my husband "I know how you military are" was that support? Or was your employee implying something negative about our family just because my husband is a marine? Seems to me that you and your employees are the ones telling "tales" not 9 out of 10 tenants. They were lovely in the beginning to get us to rent from them, but once we moved in, we had nothing but problems with things in the house AND with "maintenance" "fixing" things. This place I rented was horrible!! It was filthy, the heater and water heater were red tagged by the gas company and I had to insist they replaced the warped back door. They had used an interior door as a back door so also was not up to code. I moved in, cleaned the place up and when I moved out ten months later they kept almost $300 of my $1000 deposit. The place was so much cleaner than when I moved in and they ripped me off. They act nice to you until you leave and your looking for your refund. read more

Like most folks, my husband and I did not have a good experience with this company. Moved in and the house we rented need all new piping. The place didn't have water for 2 weeks. After a long hard fight with the people on the office, they finally got the owner to agree to fix everything. So, for about 2 weeks, we stayed at a hotel. Not reimbursed for any of it. We returned the little home in better shape then what we received and they still took $150 from our security deposit. $10 for 3 lightbulbs, $60 for cleaning, $75 for weeding.. the home was spotless when we left and the weeding of the yard is a joke since it was not cleaned up upon move in. This company is a poor excuse for management. There are a few good ones in Yucca, so my advice is steer clear of this operation as a renter or owner needing property management. read more

I wouldn't give them any stars if I had the option. I will say we got a dog and did not tell them - dogs were allowed but you had to pay a deposit. Now, with that being said... The linoleum on the floor was not left in the house to acclimate and there was ZERO space between the flooring and wall so the floor buckled from one side of the living room to the other over the time we lived there. When it became obvious it was buckling - we called and someone came out and took pictures. They still kept 500 dollars of the deposit to replace the floor. They said it was water damaged by a dog dish. First off, let's just go with that for a moment. That would leave a ring or a bubble where the puddle had been. There were neither of those things most a giant buckle from one end of the room to the other. How does a water dish do that? Not to mention who keeps dog dishes in the middle of the living room? I'm more than happy to pay for any dog damages but not erroneous ones. Also, there was black mold in the master bath and garage. They were not concerned. I'm not sure if its just living in 29, but the place was FILTHY upon move in. I would never rent from them again. read more

I have dealt with different renal companies over the course of the past eight years, and I can say without reservation, that Affordable Rentals is, by far, the poorest run "business" I have had the misfortune to deal with. 1. My air conditioner broke and I was ignored for 3 months. 95 degrees in my house for 3 months and they wouldn't reduce rent or fix the ac. Its still not fixed. After phone calls were ignored for weeks on end, I had to go to their office and complain like a child just to get a swamp cooler installed months later. 2. The owner of the house foreclosed, yet Affordable Rentals never let me know, the bank had to. Now, Affordable Rentals won't give me my security deposit back, and I am forced to take them to court. I wouldn't reccomend Affordable Rentals to an enemy. They treat tennants like trash, and do not know how to run a business. Do not do business with this shady company. read more
