Do not do business with these people. Unethical and unprofessional. They need to be reported to the Department of Real Estate

Love renting from AIM! Made my move-in very easy and explained everything in great detail when signing my lease agreement.

She will do anything to avoid doing her job, including ignore you. When I've stood my ground and requested she follow through she has literally yelled in my face and been aggressive for no reason. Kay in the front office acts annoyed if you even call for a simple question. These ladies do not have an ounce of kindness or customer service and are disrespectful and accusatory before you even speak. This company is greedy and only concerned about collecting rent. They take advantage of military members because they know you are a guaranteed paycheck. They require yearly inspections and take photos inside of every tenants home, including every room and personal belongings. This was not disclosed to us at lease signing and is an invasion of privacy. They don't ask what date works for you, they just show up with sometimes less than 24 hour notice because they've stuck a paper on my door after 5pm the night before. The manager Jennifer has to constantly be reminded of tenant laws. Why are they so concerned about having photos inside my home while they refuse repairs? Slumlord behavior. Thank God we left. Our deposit was returned late after the legal timeframe and they acted annoyed when I called to check to see if it got lost in the mail when really they hadn't even issued it. They claim to be Christian but do not act like it. This company takes advantage of tenants and knowingly violates laws! Avoid at all costs!

Hi-Desert Dwellings - Yucca Valley

Hi-Desert Dwellings

I stayed in an Airbnb with this company. This company is a little unorganized in how they manage…read moretheir properties and cannot take criticism well. I can see from their responses on here that I am not the only one who was blamed for the problems that occurred during our stay. I feel the need to make a thorough review since the response to my review on Airbnb seemed to need clarification on the timeline of when/how things went down. When we arrived, the manager came unexpectedly to take photos of the place before we settled in. No big deal, but thought it was weird that they weren't prepared for us. After the manager left, we noticed the gas was left on and propane tanks were empty on both the fire pit and the grill. We messaged them on Airbnb right away. While we were waiting for a response, we found two propane tanks on the side of the house, so we hooked them up to the grill and fire pit, which is when we noticed the grill was not working. I guess the message about the propane was received (although no response yet at this time) because the manager came back to drop off one tank of propane in which she dropped off by the gate without saying anything. As I saw her car leave, I waved her down to come back because the grill still did not work. She came to look at the grill, and then sent a maintenance person out to us. Thankfully the problem was fixed within 2.5 hours after we checked in. Additionally, the little pool on the property was not clean, the hot tub was low on water (the jets would spray water everywhere unless 3+ people were inside at the same time), and the remote for the light in one of the bedrooms was missing. I know nothing is perfect, I'm a reasonable person. I posted a respectable, honest, and nice review on Airbnb, but simply mentioned the hiccups that occurred. I even left a 4 star review. Their reply was surprisingly petty, blaming us for the problems that occurred. On the public airbnb response, they claimed that me and my guests checked-in early, and if we would have just checked in on time, the problems would have been fixed on time for our check-in. They also said that when the manager came to take photos of the place initially, that's when she discovered the grill was broken. That is not how it went down. She took photos of the grill AFTER I waved her down the second time she came to the place to drop off the propane. The grill took 2.5 hours to fix, and the other details (propane tanks empty, missing remote, low water in hot tub, dirty pool) would have taken quite some time to fix/clean/prepare. Blaming us for "checking in early" is unfair. Whatever problems that occurred would have taken significantly longer than a couple of minutes, especially given the fact that fixing the grill in itself took a few hours. I understand that not everything is perfect, but the fact that they felt the need to blame me and the other guests for checking in early when we literally pulled into the drive way at 2:58-2:59 (check the cameras) is what really got to me. It's not like anything would have changed if we pulled into the driveway a minute or two later. When the manager initially came to take photos, she could have checked the grill, fire pit, pool, etc then, but she just took photos and left. They were simply unprepared, but blamed us for checking in 1-2 mins early as if that would change anything. Judging from their responses, it seems they cannot take criticism well. Criticism is what makes a business better for the future, but they immediately jump to blaming guests which is a shame. Most Airbnb hosts would apologize for the inconvenience, but instead I got blamed for checking in (literally) 1-2 minutes earlier. Edit to add: I was ASKED to leave a google review. Your response still does not address the fact that you actually lied in your response to make you look better. You lied by saying we "checked in early" instead of just saying "we apologize and we will take this into account for the future" like literally every Airbnb host with maturity would do. But instead you blame us for checking in early when actually did not do so. Saying if we checked in 2 mins later would have changed ALL those problems is simply a lie and not true. Your response actually proves my point that you can't take criticism well and are very immature to be owning a business. Please don't blame guests for all of your problems. I've never had an Airbnb NOT apologize for the inconvenience and have never been blamed for checking in 1-2 mins early, which you know is true since you have not addressed that part of my statement. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

This is the worst business on the planet. Shanan and her team are the definition of discriminatory…read moreand felonious Karen's. We booked an air bnb on our move from LA to Vegas with a one night stopover in Yucca Valley. They notified us 2 hrs before our arrival the hot tub didn't work (which is why we booked the space) and offered a nominal refund. I accepted it and they still cancelled the reservation as WE WERE ALREADY ON THE PROPERTY AT CHECK-IN. Why did they cancel on us in 100 degree heat at 3Pm with my service animal and pet in the car? How unsafe is this to leave us with no place to go in the desert? 'Karen' didn't care. She presumed to call the owners to tell them we were trespassing.. and the police came. What in the world? I had a reservation I paid for & living with a medical disability and leaving me and my service animal and dog out in the desert sun was her purpose - to keep us in danger. I don't know about you, but if this is the kind of thing that happens with air bnb and a rental agency, you're not safe with them. Your family is UNSAFE on any property they manage. Do NOT book with Hi-Desert dwellings. They will literally kick you out when you have a reservation based on her mood. We are taking legal recourse now to hopefully save anyone else from a potential nightmare.

So when the tenants moved out, I obviously expected them to help me fix up the place and get it rented again. They never did the repairs requested and they never put the house back on the website (even though I asked them to immediately after the tenants vacated property). I emailed them over half a dozen times, none of which I got a response. I even cc'd the owner on one! I think I could do a better job managing it myself and I live 2 hours away. Needless to say I would never use them again!

They are rude and i have been yelled and and cussed at on multiple occasions, once by THE OWNER! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. They also charge $30/person credit check and try to do it annually. They are shady characters and need to be investigated.

Jaime was very responsive and helpful, both before and during our stay. The home was spotless and beautiful - even better than expected. One of the co-owners, Jaime Queen used to work at Marr Realty before splitting off and starting Desert Queen. I do not currently rent property from Desert Queen but my in-laws, who are senior citizens, do and it has been difficult dealing with Desert Queen. To start off, they don't have a brick and mortar office that you can go to. Of course, I did find an address in Joshua Tree which I suspect is probably a residential address. Other than that, they have a PO box that rent checks get sent to and the only way to get a hold of them is by phone. My in-laws have a messed up garbage disposal that they called about a couple of months ago but that issue was never resolved. They had another issue involving the garage door which took about a month to even schedule a time for someone to come out and fix. Jaime doesn't call back in a timely manner nor does any follow up calls to make sure things get done. She doesn't take the time to understand what someone is trying to say and it does not help that she has a bad attitude. She lacks customer service skills and is not tactful or polite. If I was a property owner and all I wanted to do was collect checks, then Desert Queen would be the perfect choice. They will get that money for you. As for caring for property and making sure tenants have the basic needs such as security and working appliances, extremely lacking. I understand they are a new business and with all new businesses, things are rocky from the start. I do hope that they get better because that's what everyone wants. For now, I stand by my review but I am open to amending it should I see progress.
