Everyone is kind and happy to answer all questions. our appointment got delayed because as a new customer I didn't know the Vet may call you before seeing your animal if she has questions from the concerns you may have for your pet. Seating is good on the front porch while you wait, I might suggest 2 portable fans to try to help with the hot days. My elderly cat got excellent care at an affordable price. Injured Our Dog - I told the staff to be careful of a previous injury on our dog's neck which was almost totally healed. Instead our dog came out bloody, 4 places on her neck with blood. Obviously, they roughed him up and mistreated her. She wasn't bleeding when she want in there. Dr. Jennifer Fine claimed he came in that way. I asked why she was lying straight to my face. She got even nastier. This was a horrible experience. I am considering legal action and will definitely file a complaint to the regulatory authorities for vetranarians. J read more

I should've read the reviews first... I had one of the most unprofessional, rude and unkind veterinary experiences I've ever encountered. I called ahead to confirm my appointment and was never told that the doctor would not be available. Had I been informed, I would not have driven 40 minutes with my cat, who was already stressed and anxious. When I arrived, no one greeted me, not even a "hello". I was spoken to abruptly and told to sit outside, where I waited 20 minutes. Finally, two different staff members came out separately to ask questions, neither of whom actually listened or seemed aware of the situation. Despite my cat being visibly distressed and crying loudly, no one asked how he was or showed any concern or compassion. Only after the second interaction was I finally told that the doctor was not there and could not help me. After all of this, I was offered a rescheduled appointment for Tuesday ... it's Thursday. Mistakes and emergencies happen, but failing to notify a client, having them wait unnecessarily, and showing no basic care or empathy toward a distressed animal is unacceptable. My time was wasted, my pet was unnecessarily stressed, and the lack of communication and professionalism was shocking. I left feeling dismissed, unheard, and deeply disappointed. read more

So rude! So much attitude, simply for asking a question. I honestly wanted to take my pet back at this point after waiting 1.5 hrs with an appointment (not a walk in), but he was already being seen. Everyone else was coming and leaving really quick. Then the vet called me to discuss my pets situation and she was also so rude!! Never again! Also beware you cannot be with your pet at the time of the visit, they take your pet and then they call you to discuss. So you don't truly know what they do with your pet as you are not present, and they won't allow you to be there with them in the room. You also don't get to see the veterinarian, she will never come out. Maybe for the better because most of the staff is extremely rude with lots of attitude. I have put up with the condescending, rude behavior for far too long and today took the cake. Appointments are often pointless as they overbook and take walk ins. My appointment was for 10:30am. I got there at 10:10am, signed their full form, as you always have to ( which I think is odd if they are an existing patient ) and then waited patiently. At 11:05 I got a phone call (because AVC is not personable) from the hot patio with no bathroom, that they were ready for Seven who had been stressed out from the dogs walking around. I waited, I waited, I watched every person who came after me receive their pets and payment. By 12:35 I said, " excuse me pardon me" to a vet tech, who ignored me. I waited again, and when I saw that another tech was about to head inside (because they don't allow you back with your pet )at the end of her conversation, I said, " excuse me, pardon me"could you check on my cat seven it's been almost 2.5 hours " as she steamrolled over my voice to cut me off and say she was busy and for me to hold on. The few women who watched me wait all this time knew how patient I had been with no updates; one woman wishing me luck before she left. Well that tech must have told someone I had been waiting so, within 5 mins I get another call. She starts steamroll speaking at me, rapid fire. When she gets to the part that seven may have a thyroid problem because of her stomach, I interjected and said, " right we checked that back in April and..." she cuts me off with a condescending tone and says, that "well cats are very different you may not know that in cat years it's much longer so it's been like 5 months for a cat!" I said nothing...because what are you taking about? lol. It's been 4 human months. This is supposed to be a follow up check up so I don't understand why it's taking so long. She continues to say that it was my cats fault for taking so long because she is a very grumpy, grumpy cat, and said "grumpy" probably 5 times to me. It's like, maybe if you'd let me back there or have better time management for appointments she'd be fine. She is a very sweet and calm cat. She is 6 pounds and dying so...it just sounds unreal. So, then she continues and says, " do you want me to tell you anything else or just give her back?" "I said, well yes I want to know what you did for the check up." She said, " cuz it sounds like you don't want to know so I can just give her back to you." And she hangs up on me. I did this all quietly on the bench and tried not to cry. I hadn't said a word and she just steamrolled all that rudeness to me. When she came to the door I told her that what she said to me on the phone was very rude. And she just said, " ok." And made a flippant expression that she didn't care. So I said," ok well I'd love to speak to your manager..." and she says, "ok," so I say,"and I'd like to know what you did in your exam." She said," I'm trying to tell you what we did." I stand there. "She says again, " do you want to know?" I say, "yes" she continues to say over and over that she just did an exam and I'm like , "right but what did you do? " she says, " I guess you don't want to know so bye" and begins to shut the door in my face. I said," I need to know what you did with my cat." Then she finally shuts the door. This aggressive and dismissive behavior is abhorrent. I don't know why she didn't just tell me what they did rather than repeating " do you want to know or not" over and over again. It was maddening. Everytime, they don't allow you to speak because they are too busy, and don't care what you have to say. It appeared they didn't look at her previous records or they'd know she had kidney disease. I told them on the phone for my appointment that I just wanted a simple check up and a prescription for a new kidney disease food because, she didn't like the current one. That was it. It was like they didn't know her diagnoses and a check up should I not take 2.5 hours I'm not sure they even did an exam at all, which is what is even sadder. I think she just sat back there stressed out for 2 hours. It should be illegal to not be present without the owner. You'd be there for your kid. When I got my 11 year old cat shots during the pandemic with AVC, he coughed up blood 2 weeks later and he died 3 months later. They ignored all of my emails and phone calls regarding it and I went elsewhere. I only went back because it was affordable and some time had passed. Do what you want, it's affordable just understand that you don't have much of a voice there and you will be talked down to. All in all, they prefer one way communication. I could not even get the sentence out of my mouth that THEY themselves already diagnosed her with kidney disease. So, telling me "it COULD be thyroid or could be other things..." you're not listening and clearly you don't chart your animal patients or you would have known already. read more

I can't say enough great things about Dr Fine and her staff. Book your appt online or email them for next day help. They have always put pets first and it shows. They are extremely affordable and refer you to other reputable vets if they are unable or do not provide certain services. Parking is limited, but there is street parking and other areas to park and walk over with your pet. Only pets get to go inside which is good to separate us owners and the Dr calls you during the assessment. After visiting 3 others vets in the area, I am finally happy at AVC. read more

THIS MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH DR. FINE AT AFFORDABLE PET CARE I would never take any animal there again. I took my dog on Tuesday of last week because she was not feeling good, and bleeding her bottom side and She kept tucking her tail so I called and made an appointment they got me in the same day. after my appointment and still having to wait three hours they told me that she had a fever that they took some blood work and gave her an anabiotic shot And that they would let me know about the blood work, after me calling for two days to try to find out the results I ended up having to take her to another vet just to find out that she had a gaping hole in her anal gland and she was bleeding. It was the size of a quarter. I didn't even know this happened with dogs. So I called on Thursday after the new doctor told me what was wrong with her They said that they would look into it and get back with me which they never did so as I called today to find out, Dr Fine is the one who answered the phone after I asked to speak to The Vet. She didn't tell me that she was The Vet and was very rude and told me that they called me and told me what the results were of the bloodwork which I intern told her nobody ever called me and she said well The computer says that they did so she was very defensive instead of being concerned and She kept cutting me off, when I told her I didn't appreciate her cutting me off She just kept telling me that she wasn't She told me that there was no blood whenever they saw her because she personally saw her and I told her there had to been blood because there was blood on my car seat and she had no remorse and was very unconcerned. I personally will never be back to that doctor if that's what she wants to classify herself as because the way that my dog was treated and the way that I was treated was uncalled for $200 later and no answers. Gave good vet care for years. Had an issue recently where I called twice to see if I needed a visit for my dog or if I could just get heartworm medicine. I left a new number but they kept calling the old number which had a block on it so never heard from them. They said they called but they could not have left a message and maybe should have called the number I left. When confronted they said my wife was rude and could not come back. Don't expect a call if you use a different number. They need a better way to reach out to people and listen to what the message says. read more

RUN!!! Like others have said, it is cheap as you can see from the name. We have boxer/pit mix that is highly allergic to most everything, especially pork & chicken. Our usual vet prescribes apoquel tablets and she was out of town so we couldn't verify the script. We ended up coming here and they prescribed me the apoquel, but in chewable form. Dr Jenifer Fine is the most kind caring loving Vet I have ever met. She took care of my sweet girl Seven who had cushings and kidney failure, Seven passed at 15 yrs living a full Yorkie life. She is so loved and missed by us. My 2 yr mini schnauzer has been to Dr Fine a few times for minor stuff and is not stressed at all. The techs make her comfortable and she gets lots of hugs and kisses from them. I recommend Dr Fine at Affordable Vet Care and they are Very affordable and also if prescribed medecine you will get it at a quarter price of what you would have to pay at another pharmacy!! read more

Run! Do not walk away from this veterinary practice unless you are simply needing the most basic thing like annual shots. I wish I could leave a zero star review and even that would be too good for this place. This practice does not consistently answer their phones during business hours. They do NOT return messages. The vet (Dr. Fine) does not follow through with what she says she will do. This practice also does not allow the parents of the pets to go inside with them and instead is still operating like places did during the earliest days of Covid. In order to speak with someone, you have to wait on a phone call. If you love your pets and care about their wellbeing, this is not place to take them. Any treatment needed beyond annual shots are not treated as a priority and you as the parents of the furry critters are left waiting and wondering with angst about the future of your beloved pet. I am so disappointed and so beyond frustrated at the lack of care and concern for my furry baby boy. Imagine finding a rather large growth on the side of your dog's head that wasn't there a week prior; showing up at the vet and sending him in without you; receiving a call from the vet who is inside the building with your dog and she tells you she's going to do a biopsy because the tumor looks suspicious and she's concerned it's an aggressive cancer. He's not even 3 and she told me prior to disconnecting with me that she'd have the results within a week. I waited with a lot of anxiety wondering what the results would. And at the one week mark, I called and got no response. Finally, on day 11 of waiting, I went to the office and learned from her relief vet that she didn't do biopsy but rather a needle aspiration and that the biopsy wouldn't come until the tumor is removed. They do not do this type of surgery there and in order for me to take him to the place that does do the surgery, I would need Dr. Fine's clinical notes. The vet tech that day told me she'd text Dr. Fine and have her send them immediately. Here we are six days later and 3 phone calls to the surgeon's office and still no notes have been sent. After countless phone calls to Affordable Vet Care that have gone straight to voicemail and zero returned calls in relation to my messages, we had to go there in person and beg them to follow through with what was supposed to have been done nearly a week ago. While we were assured by the vet tech who took the message in front of us with a promise to call when the vet has completed her portion of our request, I have very little confidence we'll hear back from this place or that there will be any kind of follow through based on how consistently this practice does not do what they say they will. In the meantime, I have started the process over of getting my dog's massive tumor tested so he can go into surgery to have it removed because I cannot trust this place will be of any help at this point. This has put us back weeks on getting treatment because of the ineptitude of the practice so callously operated by Dr. Fine and her staff. I've taken a few pets here over the last couple of years and I have always been nothing but impressed and grateful for their services. They have moved from a storefront in Ocoee to a house in Winter Garden. Recently I had an emergency with my cat. Upon calling, they were able to see her immediately in the morning. Dr. Fine operated on my cat and we were able to pick her up the same day in the afternoon. The prices are so unbelievably affordable. This surgery would have cost me hundreds and hundreds of dollars at any other vet. At Affordable Vet Care, it only cost me a small fraction of this! Had an appointment, waited for over 1-1/2 hours to be called. total time there was 3 hrs outside in the heat for a "1/2 hr appointment". And then there is the parking, or just lack of any. I find it imperative that I write a current review. Dr. Fine has been our veterinarian for the past 7 years, and in that time frame we have recommended her to all of our friends and family. That will NEVER be the case again. Does the clinic offer reduced costs for medications? YES - is it worth it to save a few bucks?.....NO. We took our sweet Kona in with her sister on March 4th for an annual check up, heartworm medicine, and any vaccines needed. The ONLY vaccine I asked for was the Parvo Distemper. Both dogs were given the DHPP plus a Lepto Booster. For the next 3 days we watched our Kona deteriorate, (not eating, shallow breathing, lethargic) and kept being told it was an "allergic reaction". We brought Kona in twice to Dr. Fine for answers, Kona was given fluids, prednisone, and each time we were told we were basically over reacting and she would be fine. On March 9th (yes, 5 days later) blood work was done. At 7:40pm on March 10th I received a phone call from Dr. Fine with the blood work results, and was told that Kona's kidneys were failing and that we needed to bring her immediately to the emergency clinic where she would need fluids for several days to save her. The next thing said to me was the following: "this is going to cost you several thousand dollars, and if you are not ready for that, we need to have a different conversation". I thanked her, and said we would get Kona treatment right away to save her. That was the last time we spoke to Dr. Fine. She has never called again - not to follow up, or check in. What we have learned since, is that its not unusual for owners not to be aware when dogs' kidney function is not at 100%. Only when their kidney function drops below 25-30% do dogs start to show signs that their owners might pick up on. GOOD veterinary clinics recommend annual bloodwork so that you are aware of any changes before your pet shows signs, and damage is too severe to treat. Dr. Fine never offered or recommended that to us in the 7 years we went to her. Initially we were told Kona being sick was the result of a vaccine reaction, and we trusted that explanation. It is VERY RARE for a pet to have a reaction that causes lifelong illness or death from a vaccine. Almost always this is a hidden illness that was there BEFORE the vaccine was given - typically tragic illnesses are uncovered by vaccines but not caused by vaccines. Ultimately, we found that Kona had cancer. X-rays revealed the cancer had already eaten into her spine and pelvis, proving it had been there long before the Lepto vaccine was given. Her journey was that her immune system was weak from the cancer, and could not handle the vaccine. This caused her kidneys to shut down, and for 19 days we did all that we could to help her. On March 23rd we kissed our girl goodbye and let her go in peace. After being juggled between hospitals and veterinarians that genuinely worked their butts off to try and help us. As I mentioned earlier......Dr. Fine has not once picked up the phone to check on her patient of 7 years; OR her twin sister. Spend the extra few dollars for quality care if you love your pet like a family member. read more

Horrible customer service, we had an appointment for 9:15am we filled out paper work at 9:03am. Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes while other people including walk ins kept checking in and out in a matter of minutes. We asked multiple times and since my first question they gave us nasty attitude. After an hour and 15 minutes I asked again and they said they didn't have us in the system! WHY couldn't they have told us this before!! Do not make the mistake of choosing Affordable Vet Care for your sick cat or dog. I chose them and me and my kitty paid the ultimate price for it. Let me tell you this story so you understand I do not harbor any anger or resentment towards them. I simply want others to do what's best for their furry loved ones and stay well clear of this place. Though this story is long, I promise this it is all important. A little over a year ago, my cat began sneezing repeatedly. He was congested and eventually began sneezing blood. Immediately I took him to Dr. Fine, and she said it looked like an upper respiratory infection. We put him on anti-biotics, and a month later he's doing better. He gets off the anti-biotics and he begins doing worse again. He won't eat. He has trouble sleeping. And he meows as if he's in pain. This time I noticed that he was only bleeding out of one nostril though, and the other seemed fine. Again, I took him to Dr. Fine, and after taking more tests, she told me that it could be viral. Why is he only bleeding out of one nostril? I asked her and she told me that sometimes it's limited to just one nostril. It won't be long before he starts bleeding from both, but once he has the feline upper respiratory infection, he'll need to stay on the medication for the rest of his life to prevent it from flaring back up. I trusted her, and I gave him his medications every day for the next four months. The sneezing came and went. Whenever it came back, we'd switch the antibiotics and he would be okay for another month. The time between the bloody sneezing became weeks, then a single week, then the meds weren't working at all. I kept coming back to Dr. Fine and asked her if there were other options. Eventually, she told me that I had two options: either try a series of other medications that my cat would have to be on the rest of his life, or, I could get a CAT scan of his nose. The scan cost $2000 dollars, and being where I am financially, I asked her what she would do if he were her cat. "I would put him on the medication. He's old and if he were put under for the scan or a surgery, he might not wake up." I had gotten him as a kitten when I was just 4 years old and there was no way I was going to lose him. I asked her about the bump on his face just to the side of his nose, and she said that when cats sneeze a lot, their sneezing can cause them to become deformed. I asked Dr. Fine if his illness was life threatening and she said no. Scared and resigned, I trusted the doctor and put my cat on the medication. Two months later, he's suffering worse and Dr. Fine tells me the meds could take longer to work, but I felt a sense of dread and something in the back of my mind told me I couldn't wait for the meds. Having no other choice, I paid the $2000 at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists (AVS) for the scan to find out that he had a blockage. Some kind of tumor. Another $2000 and he got a biopsy that same day. A week later, I get the scans and the biopsy results back to find out that he had a tumor. Now 8 months after I had first noticed symptoms, I find out that his tumor had eaten away at the bones in his face while I was told to treat him for a completely different condition. They told me the tumor was malignant and that he could have anywhere between three months and a year to live. We didn't catch it early enough. I put him in chemo therapy immediately, driving 3 hours to Tampa and 3 hours back without a second thought. I put him on the pain killers AVS had and when I lost my job to covid, I spent as much time as I could with him (when not looking for jobs) and continued every treatment. 4 months later, I had to put him down. I held his face in his last moments and felt more helpless than I ever have in my entire life. But there's more. I get my cat cremated and prepare to move. With only weeks to go until I am out of state, I wait for the call so I can get my cat back. I didn't get that call, even though his remains were sent to Affordable Vet Care. I had called four times to ask if they had my cat, and I was ignored. I even left voice mails that were never returned. Once someone even answered the phone and hung up immediately. Instead, I got a call from Laps of Love, who I told I was moving and wanted to make sure that Affordable Vet Care had told me I can pick up his remains. Turns out, they had him for a week, and it was two days until I would be moving out of state. I got in my parents' car (I had to sell mine) and drove to Affordable Vet. I had to call twice more and wait for 4 hours before they gave me his remains back. My friends came over to Affordable Vet with their dog more recently. The dog had something that was supposedly a cist that kept growing. Again, it was actually a tumor, though thankfully benign. Affordable Vet did not learn from their mistake. I just took my sick kitty here, and was impressed with the service ,how a large staff Intagrated well with each other,the patients ,and their owners. A large no nonsense waiting room in a recycled storefront has some old church pews for seating, 2 desks for coming and going and a staff that cares about the critters. Yay , for Dr Fine. read more
