We just moved to Clermont from the Deland area. We took our 14 year old pup to VCA Deland previously so we transferred his records to the Clermont VCA and set up an appointment. The ladies at the desk were so kind, friendly, and helpful! It did not stop there--the tech that took us back to the exam room was so attentive and asked questions but listened to my concerns for my older dog. The doctor came in to check him and was also very kind and informative. I had to come here this past Wednesday because my poor Pomeranian got bit by a Pit at the Minneola dog park. I rushed in crying and a hot mess I was so worried!! They immediately took my baby in the back to get him checked out. The staff was so sweet and caring as I was seriously freaked out and literally could not stop crying, they gave me tissues and water and spoke so kindly to me. I literally never write reviews but I had to for them seriously.... The service they provided was amazing and SO QUICK! They even called me the next morning just to check in and see how my dog was doing. Very bad experience. The front desk person named Judith was very nasty and seemed angry. I made an appointment on the VCA Clermont website and received three confirmations via emails and texts (see enclosure). I arrived 5 minutes early at 2:25 pm. As soon as I walked through the door Judith was very combative and angry that I did not respond to her voice mail.. She said she canceled my appointment even though I was sent confirmations via texts and emails for my 2:30 pm appointment. Would definitely not recommend going there. read more

The most dreaded day of any pet owners life was upon us as we were traveling. My sweet, precious, adored, 14 year old chihuahua Beanie had come to his last day to our greatest fears. Not knowing where to go for his final hours I went on google and found the VCA Hospital in Clermont. They were so kind on the phone and gave us an appointment for later that afternoon. As we spent our last hours with Beanie we cherished every second with him knowing his end was upon us. The drive to this vet was short but felt like an eternity. As we walked in there was a lovely smiling compassionate woman waiting at the door and without saying a word she asked "Is this Beanie?". She invited us to a room immediately where there was a setting of dim lights, quiet, a lovely soft gray padded blanket covering the cold steel table. There was another blanket folded for him to rest his head. I am sorry I don't remember any of their names but our minds were exploding with pain. While we were there, nearly two hours, we were only left alone for moments at a time. The time they left was not because they were busy and left us alone it was time they were giving us to get the courage to say our goodbyes. The sweet young girl explained every step to us before and during. She explained the options for his remains. The compassion and professionalism was oozing from everyone's pores. She explained that after we left she would take paw and nose prints and mail them to us. As hard as that would be to get when we were home it somehow felt very comforting. His passing could not have been easier, sweeter, or more gentle. When we left there was 3 or four women at the office and they all looked at us with the kindest and sincere looks as they all gave us their condolences. We want to thank everyone there that day from the bottom of our hearts for this experience. It gives us a calmness in our souls for something that historically had always been cold and swift. The receptionists are the only thing good about this place . I brought my BJ just for a regular check up . He needed it to get his prednisone for his asthma. They came out & suggested a rabbi shot . Something he has had all his 5 yrs in NYC . I agreed , but this shot was different, BJs pupils started to disappear. In & out . I immediately took him back & was told he was fine . I knew he wasn't. Tried to make another appointment & was denied. I knew then they had made a horrible mistake. By the time I got BJ to another vet , it was to late . He died . I blame this place . And I would never recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

It's difficult to hear that your family pet is ill or in pain. My veterinarian diagnosed my 20 pound poodle mix with bladder stones. Her practice does not perform the surgery needed to correct it so I needed to quickly find a practice that did. It was important that I find a veterinarian that my dog is comfortable with and is skilled. One that has a supporting staff that is kind and attentive. At 12 years old and having a heart murmur it's scary for my dog to have surgery. Dr. Jones was recommended as not only highly capable but compassionate and a straight shooter. I immediately liked her. Dr. Jones is compassionate and detail oriented without being preachy or condescending. Her technician was very quiet, sweet and calm. I found the combination of the two personalities assuring and soothing to my nerves. I decided on my first visit to move ahead with surgery. The day of surgery I showed up around 7am. Dr Jones looked over my dog and once again explained to me in detail what was going to happen. I was given every opportunity to ask questions and throughout the entire two day process I was kept informed. I highly recommend Dr Jones. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. We just moved to Florida from NC, and my dog hasn't seen a different vet since she was a puppy. After a 45 minute wait on hard benches, I asked the front desk when we would be seen. She gets up and finds out they're read my for us... Why the long wait?? Then the vet came in and was AWFUL. She was all transactional. Didn't love on my dog at all to get my dog warmed up to her or anything. Just came in with the shots and was ready to get it over with then COMPLAINS when my dog has "anxiety." Well maybe if you loved on her, she would've been more receptive to you! The vet also made negative comments about my dog that I've never heard from our previous vet. They took her blood as a form of heartworm test, and I never received the results back until I had to call the office... TERRIBLE customer service. TERRIBLE vet. Avoid at all costs. read more

This place has cared for my dog, Dodgy, over many years from the moment i adopted him all the way to the saddest of days in which my pet had reached a ripe old age and was in a lot of pain. As soon as I came in with my ailing pet, everyone from the receptionist, to the assistants, to the vet herself showed nothing but the utmost compassion and understanding. My pet was always a nervous creature by nature and I cannot think of a better place for him to have received all his care. Of course, i write this with tears, because it was a painful day. But there was a moment that remains etched in my head and it was one of the staff took my little dog's paw and said gently to my pet, "no more pain..." She said this in such a tender and gentle way that you realize the difference between a person that works a place and a person who has a vocation. Care is good here. But your wallet will take a beating. They love to run tests and they are expensive. I used them at the last city I lived at till I got tired of high bills. Went to an individual owned vet place after that. Great care and about 1/2 the costs. I tried them at Clermont. Sale as the other VCA in the city we used to live. Tests, tests and high markups. These folks have taken care of our dogs for as long as I can remember. We've had routine care, surgeries, allergies...you name it. We've been educated, cared for and treated with dignity. They have big hearts, work together well and are consistently wonderful to my pups and family. I recommend them for all of your vet needs. read more

I feel like they are thorough and generally quick with nice young people shuttling in and out. However I think that comes at a cost. Most of the services are top of cost and they look for every way to monetize every touch point. Our other dogs get yearly shots and care for a fraction of these visits. So there are efficient and fair operators out there. This one consistently builds large bills for their clients. Sadly we will not return. read more

First let me start by saying the Drs and front desk staff are great. Now with that said, my cat had a problem I thought was a lot worse than it was. I had told them I get paid Thursday and would be able to pay them then. I have been going to this clinic for 15 years with multiple pets. They told me they could not see her unless I paid. Their front desk told me about care-credit a credit card for medical expenses. I could understand if I had been a new customer but 15 years. We brought in our weiner dog as she was feeling sore and didn't want to move around like she normally does. The woman vet (Martha) was very professional and came to the conclusion that it was her back. She gave us some anti inflammatory and a few pain pills. Great place to bring your pet. Wonderful front desk staff and technician, but incredibly unprofessional veterinarian. I had a first time visit scheduled for my rescue dog who has a history of abuse that has resulted in anxiety. He is always friendly on the leash and when being pet, but he often requires sedation for nail trimmings and other procedures depending on what is being performed, which I mentioned to the front desk. When the veterinarian came into the room, she didn't even introduce herself or her plan of action. She went straight to giving my dog treats to ease him which I thought was sweet, but then prior to asking me anything about him or his temperament, she grabbed him and pressed him up against herself to hold him still for the technician. Unsurprisingly, he started growling and the vet starting YELLING at me for not warning her he was "a growler" because she "could be attacked and should have been warned." I offered to put one of their muzzles on him for her to resolve the situation, and she agreed so I did. She then continued on this entire angry rant about how that was totally unacceptable and I put her at risk. I was so taken aback as she had not asked ANYTHING regarding his temperament prior to trying to examine him. To make matters worse, after leaving the exam room, I could clearly hear her conversation continue while trashing me and my dog to her coworkers. Also, when I tried to explain his backstory for why he gets so scared, she provided no empathy and just reiterated she "could have been bitten" regardless of the fact she is the one that put herself in that situation. I was taught as a CHILD to ask if a dog was friendly and okay to pet, so I figured my vet should know to ask basics like his temperament and what restraints should be in place prior to an exam. read more

Absolutely love the team here! The reception staff is efficient and welcoming. The techs are compassionate and helpful. Dr. Bork is simply my favorite! I love that she is beyond knowledgeable, but she is also conservative with her care. She recommends only those treatments that are necessary and provides expert insight into the options allowing the pet owner to make the choice. No up-selling here! Dr. Bork is also very understanding of the challenges of pet ownership. Truly a no judgment zone. This team has simply been amazing! Just an incredibly unprofessional staff. Every time I go in and am waiting for a whiile, which is every single time even if I am the only customer/patient in the building, I get the pleasure of listening to their front office staff have continous and loud personal conversations. Whether it's how bad their drive to work is, how much their apartments cost and once I even got to spend ten enjoyable minutes listening to one staff member complain loudly about how bored she was. Well today was more of the same. I arrived right on time for my appointment and was told to have a seat. This was a tech appointment where my dog was only getting annual shots and so a vet was not needed. My dog was pretty stressed like he usually is when going to this vet and kept getting more stressed as we sat there for the next ten minutes or so even though I was the only patient. When the girl finally came out my dog did not want to go with her at all. That's a first but not suprising. Without comforting him or even finding out his name she proceeds to start pulling him to the back room. I'm obviously not happy at this point Almost fifteen minutes later, we're only here for a few annual shots and a nail trim remember, and I am getting agitated about what is taking so long. A different girl comes out and starts stammering about how my dog's body temperature is rising rapidly. I'm freaking out. Why? Is there something wrong with him?!! No, she says . He's just really getting stressed out but I called the doctor (no doctor on staff obviously) and she wants to know if the dog has been eating and drinking normally? I couldn't believe it. My dog is so stressed from these people's unprofessional, uncaring and honestly incompetent behavior his life is now at risk. Animals can die if overstressed particularly to the point where their body temp is rising so rapidly. This place is a disgrace. I know one of the original owners left recently so I sure hope it was run better back then or I don't know how they stay in business. They seem to like to refer to themselves as having a "family" aptmosphere. Maybe amongst themselves but I can tell you the patients aren't part of that family that's for damn sure. We have been coming to this vet since we moved to Clermont, however the only and I mean ONLY reason we come back is because the VET takes good care of our pets. The front desk people are always extremely rude and are more invested in their personal conversation to check in the people who have been waiting. To top it off we are always on time, even a little early for our appointments and they always take us back at least 20-30mins late even if we are the only people in the building. Thank goodness a new vet is opening down the street. We will be taking all our pets there instead. It's just sad that the front desk people make you want to never come back. read more

We moved to Clermont in October 2016. We love this place. The staff are very caring, and the vets are knowledgeable. They took their time explaining what treatment our dog needed. We were so pleased with the wonderful atmosphere here that we had our daughter and son-in-law bring their dog here for treatment as well. It's never a good sign when your office staff is one of the reasons you walk out of an office. To top that off the Vet. techs that can't be bothered to read simple paperwork in front of them. You don't know the sex of my dog. You continue to call her a he. With a clearly visible pink collar. Then say this needs to be do if you want. Then another tech repeatedly calls her "it". States that you have to now do a test in order to give shoots. None of this mentioned in the email sent or appointment made nor when we checked in. Sad when great doctors are surrounded by inept staff. read more

So...I loved the vets and most of the staff and have taken all my pets to CAH for years and years. This past year my hubby lost his job and I had to be in the hospital for an extended time for treatments, etc. so the dogs were behind in everything and when I called in for an appointment, the receptionist didn't even seemed concerned at all and said they are "down a doctor" and were booked up and I couldn't get an appointment for at least 9 days. I just think if you have been a patient for years and years that they could try harder and care more to work in one dog. I said I hate to have to go somewhere else because I can't get an appointment and she just said, "yeah" and "have a nice day". It's not like they are cheap - they charge a lot but the vets were worth it (or so I thought). So I am moving on! read more

From the first phone call to every visit the Drs AND staff are the best..super friendly very professional and loving and caring to all pets that walked in. I've been taking my pets to this vet for about 20 years. In the last year I pulled all three. The turn over in employees & the cost of this vet is ridiculous. When you take a sick pet to your vet you expect them to communicate what they think is wrong. In my 71 years of life on this planet I have had to put 6 dogs to sleep. Each one died in my arms they were all ill and it was time to let them go. Today I had to let my Boston terrier go. Eight weeks ago he was healthy and happy. He had Cushings. It will rob him of 5 to 6 years of his life. In 8 weeks time he was a mess. Open and oozing and soars covered his back and neck. I took him to a couple of vets and the prognosis was bad. He was in pain and probably would not live very long. I took him to Clermont vet Hospital to be put to sleep. They were so compassionate to me and my dog. I held Beaufort until he passed. Unlike my other dogs he felt no fear no pain. The 3 meds that were given gently relaxed him, put him in a state of unconsciousness and the last one put him out of his misery. These people are amazing so gentle and caring. All I can say to them is thank you for being so compassionate to my Boo and also easing my pain as well. Boo it's only been 3 hours and I miss you already. read more

We accidentally gave our tiny schnauzer a deworming dose meant for 60+ pound dog and she was flipping out. This vet was not our usual but the closest, so we brought her in as a new client and they saw her the same morning, early as possible. The front desk ladies were so incredibly sweet and professional, and kept playing with our pup and even let her wander behind the desk to look around since she was afraid. The vet was incredibly reassuring and helpful and even got us detailed estimates for teeth cleanings we were considering that wasn't at all required for them to do. Super helpful and now I'm bringing my bigger dogs there too since they did so good in our little emergency. Wish I had known there was such a good vet close to home sooner! read more
