We wanted to eat Afghani food and online reviews had said Afghan Flame was good so we decided to check it out. The restaurant has a menu with pictures but upon further inquiry the meal and the picture may not always match (so it appears they took stock images of the food) so it is important to inquire. We ordered the eggplant dish, kabuli pulao, mantu chapli kabob and naan. The naan was not the long afghan naan but more the central asian style round naan. the eggplant was decent and the lentils on the mantu were good (note they only had meat mantu and not veggie). my friends said they enjoyed the kabuli pulao and the chapli kabob overall good food and good portion size. ghazala was a good server but definitely inquire before ordering read more

We had an amazing meal at Afghan Flame and highly recommend it. We were 4 people and sat in a booth. The ambience was great and the service was friendly. The food was absolutely incredible. We got: 1. Warm bread comes with many of the meals and was fluffy and airy (5/5) 2. Banjan - an eggplant appetizer with tomatoes (5/5). It was really good with the warm bread. 3. Meat lovers platter which came with chunks of fillet mignon, fries, salad, bread, chicken breast, chapli kabob, beef kofta, grilled veggies, fish bites, and rice (5/5) - just incredible. I really liked the fish bites and they also had a sort of tzatziki sauce that was really good. We also got a dough which is a yoghurt based drink (5/5), a mint drink (5/5) and a blue lagoon (3/5 - it was too sugary). We all left incredibly happy and would love to come back. Extra notes: We arrived at 5:30pm for dinner on a Sunday and by 6:30pm the place was packed. I suspect there would be a wait for a table if we had arrived much later. Lots of parking available. The place had interesting decor. The service was decent. Only one female washroom. We got to sit at a corner area which was nice. We stayed longer than anticipated and they didn't kick us out. They were also able to do split bills for the meat lovers large dish. $50 for two people. The meat lovers dish came with naan bread which was warm and chewy. I loved it. The salad bowl was filled half way and the dressing was blah. Not much taste or acidity to it. The rice was nice. Large portion of fries which was unnecessary. The sauces were nice and we were able to get extra white sauce. Now let's dissect the meat parts... Filet mignon pieces were dried to my liking. The chicken breast was also try. One needed the sauce to eat with it. The chaplee was great! The fish bites were great as it was still warm and flaky. The beef kofta was not the greatest, but better than the chicken I'm glad I got to try it and share with a friend. So next time, I know what to order. We had come here on a Monday at lunch during Ramadan therefore, it wasn't busy at all (only two other tables with customers). The décor was absolutely stunning, with beautiful lighting, and a clean atmosphere. We had settled on the Mixed Grill, which had steak, beef, and chicken. The beef was very tender however, the steak and chicken was a tad dry. The platter also had rice and salad, which was abundant, filling us up quickly. A side order of pita bread was the perfect touch to a tasty meal. The service was top-notch, with our server checking up on us regularly. Super busy ... for good reasons! Four of us went to this resto to dine-in & it was first time for me! This place is legit as the diners were mainly a traditional Muslim. This is a meat lovers dream with so many options of lamb, chicken, beef dinner & a couple of fish platters. Their lentil soup was tasty & not salty. They allowed me to substitute the rice for extra salad with my lamp chops. IF you have a large party of 8, they have an equally large platter available, all placed entirely on one ultra wide platter! Its a sight to see! ALL of their staff work incredibly hard and were super helpful. Unique to me was the mint lemonade which I found refreshing & felt healthy. Went on a weekend just before the dinner rush. To be seated indoors at a booth, our party needed to be bigger cause they wanted us to sit in the middle of the restaurant. Wasn't comfortable with that idea so we moved outside. There were a few people seated on the patio upon our arrival. We sat down and were given menus but not attended to for at least 15 minutes. Asked for water and the server's hands were clasping the rim of the glass. Very unhygienic. That was the first strike. We put in our orders and I specifically asked for less rice and more salad to go with the chicken but my request was ignored. Food took almost an hour to arrive! Service was ridiculously slow and by then the entire patio was filled with patrons, either waiting or about to order.. The weather was all over the place that day with a mix of rain and clouds. The umbrellas were spaced apart that if you weren't covered, you'd get rained on. To avoid this, we moved our table slightly inwards in order to be covered but the move interfered with an adjacent table as they had a large number of people who were crammed together and left no space to move between our tables. Strike #2: The food eventually arrives with our servers (mostly young adults) who have their fingers in our plates whilest carrying them over; mantu (dry compared with other places. Used to having more yogurt sauce, which this dish needed more of), chicken breast dinner and soltani kabab. For a brand new restaurant, you have to be mindful of these things. Train your servers on how to handle food appropriately. Who knows what their hands have touched before handling food! A suggestion is to wear gloves as I saw one employee do; she was wearing a black glove on one hand. After our food was consumed, they brought out fresh baked bread (delicious) but much too late and stated that they had run out of ingredients. Never recieved water refills and had to get the attention of servers that were chatting amongst themselves a couple of times. Both the chicken and beef plates were plentiful. Meat was tender and fresh. Salad leaves were off to one corner while cucumbers, tomatoes and onions were on the opposite. Definitely different than what I'm used to. A salad combines all ingredients. By the end of it, we agreed that the food was decent, averaging at 6-7/10. Everything else needs work! Even the machines were down when attempting to pay. read more

It was the last few days of Ramadhan and all I could keep thinking of was Afghani food. However with the urge to try out some new spots, and being in the area, we settled on Afghani flame. We just missed out on the crazy rush as Muslims started to break their fast and therefore got a table pretty quickly. I believe they were running some sort of buffet menu as it was set up at the back, however this could just be a special promo for Ramadhan. With hopes set high due to the rumbling in my stomach, I opted to share the platter of two thinking it'll not be enough. I'm so glad I didn't order more. I was STUFFED. The portion was huge and more than enough for two. Tons of juicy kebabs, flavourful rice, fresh salad and soft warm bread as well as an amazing chilli and garlic sauce made for the most ultimate meal. I couldn't get over how tasty it was! Ordered pick up takeout! Waited 20mins or less with an amazing friendly staff that suggested an awesome "meat lovers" dinner for 2, but it feeds 5!!! Oh so good! Recommended on Insauga IG, so I had to try it! They did not disappoint! One day I would love to dine in Bcz the vibe of the resto is beautiful! It's by no means a fast food spot like most Afghan spots around. This is casual to fine dine scale! I would love to have a party here! All the best! Decided to finally try this place always looked busy so I went for lunch with my wife, first impressions are that the restaurant is very clean and well maintained we were seated quickly we got our menus and ordered a few things to get a good range of there food, we also ordered one of there mango smoothies. I should mention there is always music playing but it's not loud so you can still have a conversation with the people you bring with you, Now on to the food we first ordered the mantu as a started unfortunately they did not have this at the time I find it a bit odd but nevertheless I picked the fish bites instead the fish was crispy and very light with great flavour even with the provided sauce I also ordered the Kandahari Bolani this was good the filling on the end piece's was not a lot but the middle pieces were stuffed well it was also nice and aromatic as for the Authentic Firni while I am disappointed that it came in a plastic container even when your staying in the restaurant to eat the flavour was good and I would definitely recommend it I have had this at other places and this is, definitely one of the better ones I have had I also ended up getting a Tandoori Chicken to go and to put it nicely the portion is sad I'm terms of amount of chicken but a good flavour and good well I would go here again but the wait for service was a bit long in general once seated. read more

Amazing service and one of the best restaurants in GTA. This is my second visit in a week to their new location on Tonkin and Eglinton. Everything about this restaurant is exceptional. The location, the ambience, flavours and friendliness of servers is all 5/5. The servers are very polite and patient. We were served by Amazon in our last part and managed a relatively large crowd of over 50 persons very amicably. Ibrahim hosted us today and did an equally amazing job. The place gets crowded on the weekends due to high demand and there are occasional delays but nothing that takes away from the richness of overall culinary experience. We ordered royal platter aka Shahi Dawat and it was delicious to the last bite. Their Manto (Afghan dumplings) are extremely tasty, banyan (eggplant with yogurt sauce), fried fish of the day are all tasty choices but the real favourite is their grilled chicken with zesty sauce. Try their Basbosa or saffron ice cream to top it up. Highly recommend for small or large gatherings. This is one of my favourite go to spots for my parties. read more

What a disgusting place, we as a family went there for dinner. We originally called and they told us on the phone that there was no wait time, but when we got there it was 30 30-minute wait time. The issue was not with the wait time or their service. When the food arrived, after about 5 minutes we saw a live bug in our food. We called the waitress immediately and she did take that dish away. We told her that we didn't want to eat anything there anymore as all of us were disgusted and lost our appetite. The manager was called and as per him, I quote "We don't know when we bring the food from the kitchen a bug can get in. WTF!!! Why not put that on your menu? We were so disgusted that I did not even bother to fight for the bill. I just paid and we left. Please don't waste your money or time at this place., Go somewhere else. We will NEVER go there again and will let all our friends know not to go there. Yes, I will be calling the city of Mississauga and filing a written complaint. read more

Been to this place when it first opened and like all these restaurants, they start out high and when they start making a 'name,' their service completely drops because they hire people who can barely speak/understand english and don't give a damn about service. We were 5 & we only got a serving of 4. I asked for another plate, and she was confused, asking if I wanted cutlery - I said no 'a plate', she looked around at the table, still confused and I said again 'we are 5 and we only got 4 plates'. 5 mins later, our appetizers come, (and mind you 30 mins from the time we ordered) and still no plate. I had to ask another server for a plate. Finally 1 plate came. And then 5 mins later, 5 more plates come. She thought I said i wanted 5 plates. Like seriously? Sounds minimal but when you are hungry and your first appetizer comes in after 30 mins of ordering your food, you are annoyed. Then later, first main course comes, my husband asks 'can i get the coke that i ordered' - shes like okay and walks away to go clean a giant table. The decent thing would be to bring his coke first but she didn't give a damn or that she didn't speak english. Not sure. But my husband was quite loud in asking for his coke he order 45 mins ago. Then we had to ask another waitress for the coke, and the original waitress that we had first asked, came and just put it on our table and walked away. No 'sorry, I forgot', no nothing. Just RUDE. Horrible women working in there - if you aren't getting served by the main waiter guy there, don't bother going. And don't go hungry because you will be waaaaaaaaaaiting a long LONG time even when its not busy! read more
