I enjoy having Chinese food and this has become a really reliable place to get affordable but quality Chinese food. They have an assortment of meat dishes, from chicken to beef to seafood. They even serve duck and lobster, although I have yet to try. The interior is quite welcoming and feels like a very old-school Chinese restaurant. The service is incredibly quick and they make sure to take your orders quickly, so if possible, try to look at the menu ahead of time or have an idea of what you want. We placed our orders and they gave us a nice hearty soup for free. It was a nice surprise. This time around, we ordered sauteed scallops, beef with Maggi sauce, and the Yeung Chow fried rice. Everything was excellent. The rice had amazing flavour, and I like any sort of fried rice that combines meat and seafood so that was a plus. The scallops were also cooked really well. The beef with Maggi sauce was the star for me. Salty and savoury and the mushrooms and onions go so well with it. I would recommend it if you like an intense salty flavour. They also gave us a red bean porridge for desert. It was just fine for me but it was complementary so I can't complain. Overall, an amazing place to have Chinese food and super affordable as well. As soon as you enter you see the duck and lechon hanging in the glass case and you know it's a legit spot. To the right is the restaurant and the left is an area for pick-up and to-go orders. As we walked towards the right side and waited, they provided us with a number and we waited about 5 minutes before they called on us. Everything we ordered was great, but what stuck out the most was the fried squid and greens with mushrooms that were not on the dim sum menu. You can check items off their menu but they also bring around special dishes that you can order from. Taste wise, it was just mediocre. My least favorite was the chicken feet. There are not that many options for dim sum in Mississauga, so when searching Yelp for suggestions, this came up. We haven't been to this restaurant since it was Sam Woo, so we decided to try out their dim sum offering. We arrived at about 9:15 AM on a Tuesday for their happy hour special. Their special happy hour prices are available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM. During these times, everything is $5.38 except for their $8.00 dishes. If you order medium size dishes and up it is worth it. We ordered a large variety of dishes including many of the typical dim sum offerings like sui mai, har gow, BBQ pork buns, deep fried taro, and rice noodle rolls. The food was pretty good and on par with other dim sum restaurants and all were hot, except for a couple which were deep fired. The service was quick as well, and we received all our dishes in a short amount of time. There were a couple of times when waiters did try to give us dishes that we did not order, and we had to tell them that it wasn't ours. Overall, the dim sum experience here is pretty good, and the quality and selection of the dishes was what we had expected. Food is okay but BAD service , RUDE staff. Even if you are busy I believe customers should always be treated with courtesy and respect.

We really like to come to this place, it's the only restaurant we currently go to when we want dim sum or to bring guests to. It's very convenient that we are able to make reservations even during the dim sum hours, which is great because there is usually a long line up outside. The tables are large and round and can easily accomodate a large crowd. The only problem id say is that service can be slow so if you are in a hurry you might find yourself in a pinch. read more

I was there around lunchtime (11:30) on Sunday. After the entrance door to the right was their restaurant (dine-in) space, and to the left was a space for the deli & pick-up orders. Of course, I was there to try their XLB but decided to order a couple of more dim sum items as the price was affordable (around $6-7 for size M items) and cash-only for orders under $15 and I had no cash. While waiting, I saw people coming in and out to take out pre-ordered food, most of which were BBQ items (pork, duck, etc). They were freshly cut at the deli counter. The cook picked the meat from the BBQ display case beside him and chopped them in front of me and put them fresh in the take-out container and on the plate for eat-in customers. Looked juicy, and apparently, BBQ meat is their signature item! My order was - Xiao Long Bao (XLB, pork) - Vegetable steamed dumplings (mushroom and snow pea leaves in transparent wrapping) - Rice noodles with shrimp The XLBs were disappointing as it looks machine-made/wrapped with starchy thick skins. The soup tasted ok, and the meat filling was good, but probably I will not order this anymore. The rice noodle was impressive, the noodle was soft, smooth, and silky and had a generous amount of big bouncy whole shrimps inside. It was less than $7? Great deal. The vegetable dumpling was also good with smooth skin and the size was big. The stuffing tasted good, I thought there could be more - but a reasonable amount for the price. Lovely to see many multi-generational families enjoying the meal around the table. If you like a quiet place, this is not the place. The best Chinese BBQ in Mississauga. (BBQ Pork and Duck) are superb. Most of the early menu intended for dim sum, but lunch and dinner menu always available on request. When ordering bbq combination don't forget to firmly say 'on rice', otherwise they will bring you the dish bbq that will cost you 3x more than the bbq on rice set. Seeing as the full restaurant & kitchen is not open as of yet (due to COVID-19), the takeout area is all that is available. I ordered the BBQ Pork on rice (other options: roast pork, roasted duck, tofu, soya sauce chicken, cuttlefish). The pork was tender and very flavourful! It was served over white rice, and a side of bok choy. The bok choy was nothing special - very bland. I wish they would give another choice for vegetable, or at least add garlic or some sort of spice to the bok choy. Otherwise, the dish is 5/5! This is a dinner review, I've never had dim sum here. We had Peking duck which was excellently prepared. The snow pea leaves with garlic was a large portion and cooked perfectly and their char siu was also very good. Service was friendly and fast. I was surprised to find this restaurant as I don't know the area but it was a great yelp find for me. And the pricing was also very reasonable! Pretty good dim sum restaurant, I was impressed with the ha gow, siu mai, and curry cuttlefish. The braised chicken feet and turnip cake were only okay because they were dry and lacking flavour. This is my first visit here. The DimSum was pretty good. it was quite tasty and freshly prepared. I asked for the bill, I was given it and I paid the total. As I was about to leave, the guy who seemed to be the manager, pointed out to me the bill did not include a tip and he was indirectly telling me to leave one. Now I have no problem in leaving a tip, but the way he approached me was a bit too aggressive for my liking. Furthermore, I was not even sure if the actual bill already had a tip on it. But to literally demand a tip in my estimation is unacceptable. When I was presented the Bill, I should have been advised that the bill does not include service charge. Nevertheless, I did leave a tip and walked out of the restaurant. Frankly, I don't think I will be returning. As I said I had no problem with the food, but the attitude at the end bothered me. We were here for dim sum on a Monday morning (early, 9am). The dim sum is very traditional and very well done. The cha siu bao is the traditional steamed one with white fluff covering. We jokingly called it gwai loh bao in Hong Kong because gwai lohs like me love them! Prices are still reasonable and service is good even though it is busy. We have relatives in Mississauga so this place is very convenient. It's so nice to hear my fellow Hong Kong friends talking (chewing water, choy shui) in the background. We quite enjoy magic BBQ after the ownership change (previously Sam woo)! For dim sum, we usually take advantage of the afternoon tea special where S/M/L dishes are all one price, just over $5. The siu mai, shrimp dumpling (har gow), beef rice roll, shrimp rice roll, fried shrimp roll, steamed beef tendon, tripe are all our favourites. They also have this yummy savoury taro pastry that is super tasty! Dinner is also pretty good, it's pricey but you do get what you pay for and we normally order their combo sets. I also wanted to mention that my recent takeout experience was definitely worth the wait. The beef efu noodles, BBQ pork, pork tongue and egg were all so delicious. I loved how the BBQ pork was perfect texture and had both the slim and fatty parts that I expected. In the past, the BBQ pork was so so because it would always be too lean and dry. Food is good, and this place is very popular as well. I took a takeout order of BBQ pork and duck. When I got home, just curious about the pork weight. Because of my job, I am sensitive to the weight, plus box and dip source, the order is still short in weight. On the receipt, it did not show how much was the weight. Result is around 8% less than what I paid. If deduct the source and box weight, at least 10% short for sure. Strongly suggest owner would check their scale regularly. read more

Gone is the original Sam Woo and in place is Magic BBQ. Despite a huge Chinese population in the area, there still isn't an excellent Dim Sum place so you got to settle for restaurants like this one. The only reason I went there was because I had relatives who live in Mississauga and this restaurant also happens to be the closest to them. Food was decent and average but prices were high. Portions size is not large but not small. Nothing was bad and everything was consumsed at my table. Even at lunch hours on a Sunday, the place was not packed and you could easily get a table when walking in. Not sure cuz it's summer but it wasn't busy at all during rush hours. Convenience is the key here. Staff were polite and quick to responsd. For the price, you might as well trek to Markham for the best DIM SUM, with bigger portions. Understandable though not everyone wants to driver an hour plus for dim sum and being stuck in traffic. Therefore, this is the next best thing. read more

I was at Magic BBQ & Seafood in Mississauga on September 12, 2024. After we were seated, the waiter ignored us and I had to ask for the tea twice. I had to grab a kleenex from other table to clean my table which the table was full of sauce linking from the steamed food they served. Everytime waiters came to deliver food to us, I said "Thank You" politely. The waiters never one time knowledge. When I went to pay the bill, I only tip them less then 10% because of the service. The male waiter yelled at me and said I didn't pay in full. I went and counted in front of him then he said I have to pay at least 15% tip before I can go. I just told him that "That's all the money I have!" Then he said loudly that I can pay them next time. We are SENIORS and live on minimum income and I feel the waiters in that restaurant are very disrespectful to WE, ALL SENIORS. We will NOT go back and there is NO LAW that we have to pay 15% tips.
